Report: clear, flat, tons of fish but no activity!!!

well i have been fishing oroville for a few years with my family, we have a nice fishing boat but it might come as a shock to some that, that alone will not make you a good fishermen. we have tons of time and patience however we lack the ability to land the amount of fish you people claim to catch...WE COULD USE SOME TIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE
tell me any ideas of where to try or WHAT TO TRY!!!! we mostly fish muddier bottomed coves during early after noon to evening. so far we usually only get bites on night crawlers.
fish finder shows tons of fish around 4-6 feet of water but none want to bite...are we cursed??? can anyone change our bad luck???

NOW on to an exciting short story. last week I was on oroville and we were getting nothing for 7 hours but kept trying. im sitting back relaxing and all of a sudden my pole jerked out of the pole holder and into the water. i freak and jump across the boat to see if i could get it and by the time i got there it was more than 2 feet in the water...needless to say i lost a pretty expensive pole and most likely the biggest fish of my life...if you find a fish with a pole attached its mine....would appreciate getting it back =]

well any help would be greatly appreciated im going to go by some lures some of you said work and will get bak to you...
      thanks all
someday I hope to be landing that many fish in a day. at this rate were lucky to catch one in an entire day so I know were doing something seriously wrong. email me if you can!!!
      City: Chico

Tips: HELP MEEEEE catch fish!!! got nice boat, plenty of poles and bait nothings working!. last time i was out i tried nearly every lure in my tackle box (years accumulated). recently bought fish finder, its great cuz now we can see all the fish that don

Report: Fished on Sunday, no dock in yet (what a bunch of BS)we can put a man on the moon but cannot install one stinking dock. So that's how my day starts. There were 8 boats in the parking lot, 7 in the ball park (what a zoo). Ended up catching 2 smallies, and loosing one 4+ lb. largemouth. Ripbait, senko, swimbait. The fish seem to shut down when the wind quits.. I hate this lake sometimes, it will make you a hero one minut and just crush you the next.

Report: I hit the water with a new Devil Mountain member in his champion. With a early start, we were able to work the wall in franks before the tournamet blasted off, but only managed to pick up one 2 lb fish on a drop shot. With boats coming in from the tournament coming out of Russos, we hit several more spots in franks, picking up a fish here and there on beavers. but the bite was tough. Went into sandmound looking for bedding fish and still didn't find any in the area that we were fishing. With the wind coming up we moved to taylor and threw a frog durring the mid day with no takers. finishing the day in Dutch, I put the beaver back to work, pulling a 3 pounder and an 8 pound momma to cap off the day.

Interestingly, while the 8 pounder was in a spawning mode, she wasn't full yet and I think we are in for a great April.
      City: Walnut Creek

Tips: Over the last few months the devil mountain bassmasters has been inviting new members to join the club, some are deeply experienced and others are self taught. They have all the right equiptment and skills, but lack a network of friends to help them grow as anglers. If you find yourself to be one of those people, find yourself a club and grow your skills fast.

Yesterday, I was throwing a beaver and catching fish. My partner was throwing a beaver and not getting bit. This being the first time we fished together, I didn't want to tell him what to do, but I did offer him the color (sprayed grass) that worked for me. Still no luck for him. At the end of the day, we talked about it again. He was throwing 20 lb test, 3/8 lead with a bead and a 4/0 hook. I throw it on 15 lb flouro, 3/16 titanium, no bead and a 3/0 hook.

      But remember, presentation is everything...

Report: Gold Coast Tourney today -- 16 boats out for what looks to be a great day of fishing. Reports have that fish may have stopped moving up as possibly, the weeks weather pattern disrupted some movements. -

Partner and I hit our 1st spot where we landed that nice 9-8 a few weeks before. Lots of traffic but we managed to hold our location. Slow spot today and were not seeing activity we liked. Sun has produced a cover of algae stopping the sun from going deeper which has probably shut off the bed fish. Captured one keeper sand headed out. Hit spot two and I landed a equal keeper making two in the box. Fished several other spots and partner and I both hit on number two making a 4 in the box but nothing for that elusive 5th keeper. Finally pulled in a full box then went looking for cull fish. With only 4 minutes left for the day, I yanked out a 4.21 to cull the light weight and we headed in. 12-02 on 5 wasn't much to brag about. Winners in with 16.33 on 5 and big fish went 6.55. We ended up 5th but still, a hard day for Casitas.
      City: Santa Maria

Tips: `Go slow! Most all the fish we had were on Senkos weightless. Some other tourney guys were hitting big weights on live craws. Saw several blade lures hung on underwater stickups so use caution around close bank areas as with the water down, there are a lot more exposed brances to capture your bait!

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished Friday and Saturday in North end. On Friday, great bite with bass to 4 lbs. near shore in the tullies. I couldn't get the fish under the docks to bite. Fish were visible, shallow and hitting plastics: jigs, brush hogs, shakey head rig, lizards, etc. On Saturday, things changed. All my bass (2 to 3.5 lbs) were in 8 to 12 feet deep and hitting only lizards and shakey head rig with MM worm. Didn't see one shallow fish on Saturday - probably from the pressure of the third day of the four day the Bassmasters Tournament.

Tips: When you find one fish, stay awhile before moving.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: I keep forgetting to let everyone know that, there has been alot of cars broken into that have been parked on the bidwell boat ramp as well as Loafer Creek parking lot. Several police reports have been filed. I would suggest to, keep all your glove box open as well as any compartmets in your cars. this may prevent the people doing this to walk away without breaking any windows knowing there is nothing to steal.
      City: Woodland

Tips: Keep your compartments open so that the people doing this can see that, there is nothing to steal.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: After a Pardee day trip I decided to fish Amador for a few hours around dusk. Good choice! Just before dark I boated my first bass using a brush hog - she was 5 1/4 lbs. I even caught one right after dark which is rare. She went about 3 1/2. I fished about 5 hours and boated 10 bass total, including the first spawned-out female of the year - 4 1/2 lbs. I had a nice limit of 18+ pounds, using brush hogs and Berkley Power worms.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: I caught some bass at the ends of coves, probably males guarding nests. The big one was on a point. No rhyme nor reason to where the bass were - one here and there. Lots of floating debris on the lake still - but it appears to be full!!!

Report: Got out late around 10:00. Fished from the narrows up past the bridge. We saw a few fish on beds. Nothing big. They're still hangin a little deeper. I got 4 fish in 3 hours. Senkos and spinner baits. All shallow. I'm sure the deeper bite is good but I chose to go shallow. I,m only submitting this report because I see nothing current. Be patient. Next week it's game on ! The weather is perfect. Take a kid fishing. It's spring break!!!
      City: Ione

      Tips: Fish seemed to want the bait moving.Sinner bait white w/white blades. Green pumpkin Senko Catch and release! <*)}}}<{

Report: Arrived at the lake 2:00 pm on friday and spent the weekend with 15 buds for an annual camp/ fish outing. Fished hard the whole weekend with limit sucess on everything we tried including jigs, grubs, worms, lizards, spinner baits. Previous years on this weekend 20 fish per man/ per day easy. This year an average of 5 for the whole day and nothing over 2 lbs. Best sucess on Yamamoto grubs- salt and pepper, smoke black flake or smoke with red/ green flake casting from 20' of water to the banks with a very slow retrive hugging the bottom. Caught more fish and had more bites when I went from a 5" super grub to a 4". Go figure? Water was super clear and there was no wind, I think that was a large factor in the slow bite. Overall a great weekend with fellow fisherman and good friends.

Tips: Sounds like we left a day early. Things improved significantly on Monday. Its all about timing.
