Water Temp: 62
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: WOW never seen so many boats on husto,i caught 6 fish largest 4.5 lbs others from 1-3.5 pounds great day johnny caught 5 fish largest 4lbs white, yellow and black spinner baits were the hot lures for today hard to move around so much pressure on the lake looked as if everyone was catching fish though great day
City: SALINASTips: fish slow all our strikes were in 4-8 feet of water good fishing
-
Water Temp: 58-59
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Got to the lake at around 7 or so and started off throwing the super spook for a while but came up with nothing, then started ripping/cranking points and pockets and caught a 3.7, 2.8, and a 3.5 all in shallow pockets along mud/rock transitions, also threw a baby E in the same areas and got one follower on it that looked to be around 3lbs but that was it. this bite seemd to die off and then started started to fish a little deeper and switched to a shaky head and hula grub and caught the biggest fish of the day which was 4.10 on the hula grub in about 11-13ft and that was it. ended the day with about 14 for 4
City: SalinasTips: we didnt catch a bad bag but im sure there were guys on some bigger fish, i think we shouldve started fishing bigger jigs than we were, even earlier than we started as i think we couldve been on some bigger fish, but maybe not. come on a wed. to avoid the pressure and have fun out there.

City: Red BluffTips: fish very close to the bank. If using a blade be sure to let it sink and sloww roll it. If using a rip bait remember to let it pause for a while, and hange on tite.

Stevens Creek Lake
-
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Then watched a cute girl *if your single and happen to read this, man I wish i would have at least got your name.. lol*
anyways back to the girl, watched her drop shot and catch 6 Bass. She was working the sides going out away from the boat launch, had what looked like a roboworm of some sort and an interesting looking weight. looked like an inch long, thin/tubular piece of lead.

Berryessa Lake
-
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished the lake the 23rd and 24th. On the 23rd cought some reaction fish on rip baits and Voo-Doo baits. Later in the day the flip bite turned on using stick baits. Not the best day around 15 fish best 5 at 13 pounds. The 24th went much better. Changed things a little bit the Voo-Doo produced better first part of the day by burning the bait just over the grass fish to 3 pounds. Then started throwing the top water with some flipping thrown in. Over 40 fish 5 best pushing 17 pounds.
City: VacavilleTips: Fish the Voo-Doo by burning it over the shallow grass first part of the day on main lake flats chart shad color. Stick baits in the wood, green watermelon. The top water bite went all day main lake flats. Did catch some bed fish up to 4 pounds the big females have not locked on the beds yet.

Report: how are you doing yall. I am in the army and getting ready to deploy and I am coming home to folsom ca. for block leave in april. I have never fished lake berryessa, but am looking foward to it the weekend of april 6th. I have fished for bass for the 14 years and have only fished the areas around folsom. what works at berryessa? I am trying to find out where the hot spots are and basically where to fish on the lake. I am also trying to find what works the best in regards to bait and lures. If anyone can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.

Cachuma Lake
-
Water Temp: 68
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: I have been gone since January. Waters down but I anticipated a good day. Water clarity was spotty.. 63 degree water..water clarity Clear and Muddy depends where you are on the lake. First boat out I elected to fish 20 minutes with a swimbait with no results ( should have been ! ) I took partner for the day John out for his first trip to Cachuma. I caught fish after fish doing pretty much whatever I wanted early on. Since the fish were in tight and beds are evident everywhere you look. I did not realise my partner was struggling until after farming a fish he announced that he was still trying to get number two :( ...WHAT! I took him to deadhorse and he caught 3 in five minutes...Not big but they were very typical of whats up right now...Lots of 1 1/2 pound fish. I did VERY well with my jerkbait and had the best fish of our day (5+) on it. The jerkbait bite gets better when the wind blows folks. I caught a HUGE 4 pound smallmouth that was so egg laden WOW...Our smallmouth are doing something right as they seam more prolific. We bounced around Kelly catching fish and John missing or getting one here and there. I pulled us around a corner out of the wind around 5:00 and the next two hours John will never forget as he has a new pb and a limit weithing about 13 pounds and change for the day ;).... It started with me hanging a few ripbait fish.. Then we slowed out of the current from the wind and we were facing a more shear bank with a lot of boulder and football sized rock. If you pitched any color senko that was dark "red flake is a good thing;)... weedless wacky ...HOLD ON! There was sparse to moderate cover just at or in the front few feet of water for 300 yards...John attacked the same bank with the shakey head. When I caught the smallmouth john switched (SWITCHED???) over to an oxblood light red flake fat 6 inch robo worm. He got a 4 pounder and some three's along with the assorted dinks. I stayed with the senko and had 3... 4 pounders and my big smallie + ripbait five...Over twenty pounds :0...Lots of fish to be had now and we were alone all day. Blade got eaten in half so I stpped doing that..If you stick with plastics you'll do well...I KNOW that the swimbait bite is going on but as it's an up or down thing I kept them honest on it on main lake points that I was on this day but not even a follow..They are there just hope they are eating when you come by.
City: Santa BarbaraTips: Shaky Head for anyone who is new to fishing or wants to catch fish( easy to use and weedless..Keep moving. On more shear banks you need to be tightest to the bank on your casts. Time after time on this day the fish went to the guy who made the perfect cast. The reaction bite with the senko was intresting. Either they eat it on the initial fall or within the first 30 seconds of deadstick otherwise you had to shake it and pull it into some structure you couldn't see in 10 feet for the second bite on the more shear banks. On the other hand the flats that have abundant cover need to be worked on the ledges conjoined with the flat. I used a 127 pointer and did best on a looonnng pause's ( this bait suspends ) and had several instances of having other fish coming up the one I hooked or being able to see the fish come up and committ hari kari. They can come from deep or shallow if you'll fish deep/shallow edges adjacent to the flats. When on the flats go shallow and cast to deep while ripping back.

Water Temp: 58-61
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Tough! At least for myself. Partner captured some good smallies today for a EZ day on the lake to brush up on tackle. WIND -- WIND -- WIND! Pretty much the answer for the afternoon. Wind really came up and it was difficult to toss anything other than a crank or jerk. Several jerk takers today near weed and brush lines with a few very chunky smallies in the boat and fair decent LG weighter. Sun came out but morning was still a bit foggy and a chill in the air. Water is down and it shows. Saw several trouters taking in some nice catch;s! Should have trouted for the day! --
City: SMTips: Lady fish were maybe already up and out on beds as several males were caught and seen but only a few females. CARP EVERYWHERE! Yuk!

Report: Hey big daddy blue ranger, i really enjoy reading your reports, your always so succesful. Im jealous. I fished widow island yesterday and only caught 5 on a crankbait and none on the buzzbait. Moved into italian slough and got 5 more on a senko. All 10 fish probably 10 lbs or less. So big dad blue ranger your one fish went better than all my fish ...........darnit

Report: The Sacramento Bass Wranglers sent 9 boats to battle the CA Delta. With last week's National Guard and the weekends Elite Series & 100% tournaments it proved quite the challenge. In the end the team of Dan H. and Jared F. prevailed with 21.46 pounds, they also had big fish of the tourney w/ a 7.42# toad. In second was Duke S. and Steve W. with 20.38.
City: SacramentoTips: Word of the day was crank baits and plastic baits like senkos, beavers, and jigs. Good times were had by all. Check out our website for full results www.sacbasswranglers.net

Water Temp: 62

Report: i fished the 100 percent tournament today and if you think the bassmasters weighed in some big bags take a look at the 100 percent bass results. my brother and i weighed in 24.77lbs with an 8.8lb kicker and took 9th place. 1st had 31lbs. Big fish was 12lbs and some change. 5th big fish was 9.7lbs. Now that is pretty impressive. Us local guys now our stuff.

Clear Lake
-
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I was on the water by 7:30 and headed up north from clear lake oaks. I like fishing jigs sbut i started with jerk baits with only on follower and tried several other reaction type batis but no takers so I went with the jig and even that was tough until I figured them out then it was lights out. Boated well over 40 fish for the day and towards the end of the day I started throwing a lucky craft LVR red craw and in about 100 yard streach p/u a dozen or in about 45 minutes.
City: LincolnTips: jig real slow and dead stick it for about 30 seconds or so then drag a foot or so and shake a few times and then dead stick it again for at least 30-40 seconds. Feel the tick wait a couple real up any slack feel the load set the hook! Crank at moderate speed!

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Went out on saturday and had a decent day on the water. Started about 1 p.m and finished at 7:30 p.m. Caught 20 or so fish on a variety of baits. The reaction thing really wasn't happening. All of the fish came on spot-removers tipped with a 6" ZOOM green pumpkin "swamp crawler", a 5" grn. pumpkin senko, flipping a little ZOOM crawdad bait, and also had my some of my biggest takers on a fluke. Everytime I pulled up to a dock there were schools of bass chillin' just under the surface. I didn't think that this would make them vulnerable to be caught, but I was wrong. As soon as I saw the fish,(numerous 3-1/2 to double digit!!) I would back off and pitch senkos and flukes under the docks. The fish were literally wolf packing the bait!! I had one over 7 fallow the senko back and actually eat the bait right at the boat, only problem was, I didn't get a hook in him. All of the young ladies out in the nice weather in their bikinis led to a little distraction LOL!! All in all I had a pretty good day and caught quality fish. I don't think I had a fish that was under 3 lbs.!! Go fishing, it is fairly good. Don't hesitate to pitch slow falling baits to the bass you visually locate under the docks. They will eat them!! Just don't get to close or you'll spook em'!! Saw a ton of boys rollin' in for the elite series on sunday. I met Takahiro Omori, Ben Matsubu, and Mark Tyler at North Shore Sentry Market where I work!! It was awesome!!! Anyways see y'all on the lake. I'm sure somebody will be on the lake to see all the big boys fishin for $200,000!! There will be some big fish caught!!!
City: Upper LakeTips: In low light conditions when you can't see bass under the docks,(i.e early morn. or evening) throw jigs and worms on the pea gravel in between the docks. The fish are picking the bait up very lightly but, If you can get onj em' you'll be happy. Go catch em'!!! The water is beautiful! I haven't seen the water in Clear Lake like this in a while. CRYSTAL CLEAR!!!

Water Temp: 58-67
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Hit Clear Lake yesterday hoping to experience some of the hot fishing everyone has been reporting. As luck would have it, we did ok, but no real crazy action. When the wind was calm we managed fish on shakey head rigs in and around dock pilings both up north and down in the Konocti arm. When the wind picked up, even just a little, we got them on any number of jerk baits. There was also a good crank bait bite going in between these conditions, but you had to get the crank down to the bottom.
My buddy missed three fish in a row on the crank. The last one was at least 4lbs. He couldn't get a good set. After a lot of reluctance on his part, I loaned him my Megabass fiberglass cranking rod and he didn't miss another one the rest of the day including a nice 4lber ot make up for the one he lost.
Dinks aside, we had maybe 15 or 16 fish in the 3-4lb range.
City: San MateTips: plastics when it's calm, reaction baits when the wind picks up a little.

Folsom Lake

Water Temp: 58
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Fished a club tourney on Sat and had a great time with my boater Jay. Terriable day on the lake 1 smallie on a crankbait. Thanks to the gentleman who gave up the cove to us, very polite. Wish we could have had more but it was fun.
City: Plumas Lake -
Water Temp: 59.6
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished at dawn and put 4 in the boat by 1:30pm. 2 fish came on brown jigs, one on a home poured worm and one on a tube that we were given by another angler a couple weeks ago when we took his picture with a nice 7.3 bass.
City: SacramentoTips: Fish slow on main lake points with wind blowing onto it!
-
Water Temp: 58 early
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Started at dawn on island by ramp, tossed jigs, six inch swimbaits, top water swimmer, no contact. Got light moved to main point, repeated, one bite on jig, missed it. Moved to spawning cove off pennisula where I've taken some big fish, threw big spook for onbe half hour. I stayed out of tomorrows tourney prefishing way, many boats shot pass me, I hope they did good. Later in the mornining (still not getting fish) I drove up river to a flat point with a break and took a 2.75 spot and a 1.5 smallie. Moved off it quickly and went to NY outside to a spot, no takers. Skiers, and other craft seemed to be everywhere and did not keep away from the 200 ft zone on shore nor did they keep away from me. I left, I guess that's why I always fished Pardeee and the Delta this time of the year.
City: sacTips: Respect tournament anglers who are prefishing and especially give them leadway at tournament time. With a weather system coming in, I would like to be there, but I'll sit at home and catch up on my "honey-dos".
