Kept trying all day, blades, traps, rips, you name it. If I would have stuck w. the jig fishing would have caught alot more.

      Water Temp: 51

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Cold windy tough conditions. Very few boats on the water. Caught 10 bass the largest 4lbs. No real pattern. Fish were scattered. Picked them up in a variety of locations and depths from 28 ft to 8ft. Caught them on drop-shot robo, brush hog, and crank bait. Larger fish ate the crank off the deep edge of a wind blown flat.
      City: Foster City

Tips: Overcast day seemed to scatter the fish. Start shallow and work deep or vice versa. Start with your confidence bait but switch out if you are not getting bit in an area you know holds fish.

Report: Redwood Empire Bass Club touurnament launched out of Capell with 12 boats & 24anglers.Everyone caught fish and 11 teams had limits. The winners were: 1st-18.03lbs(6.38lb big fish) Jared Adams & Jim Cottom, 2nd-12.53lbs. John Low & Gene Cardle and 3rd-11.87lbs. Steve Adams & Matt Ellingsworth. The fish were caught on cranbaits, rip baits, jigs and drop shot. Like the previous report the cold front with wind and rain made for an interesting day on the water.
      City: Santa Rosa

Tips: Our next tournament is at Lake Sonoma on March 17th. It took over 23lbs. last Sunday to win an ABA tournament, so by mid March the prespawn should be in full swing and the big females will be hungry. We welcome new members both boaters and non boaters to fish with us. Please come to our next meeting at 7p.m. on March 14th at the Rohnert Park Community Center on the corner of Rohnert Park Expressway and Snyder Lane. Our guest speaker with be Ross England who will be sharing with us his swim bait techniques. I believe he still holds the record for a five fish limit of 41 lbs. on Clear Lake. Water Temp: 52-54

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: One of my club buddys had fished on the previous wednesday and of course it was a classic "you should have been there, the fishing was wide open." But by Sunday winter has set in and bites were hard to come by. In on and off cold rain and variable winds we picked up about 13 - 15 fish. We could have caught more fish, but I was swinging for the fences (that trick just never works) Taking the bigger meal strategy produced a few fish, but nothing over 4 pounds. But even on this cold and wet day, we had a great time and know that the weather will warm and the spawn is just weeks away.

My partner, an excellent fisherman, settled into a compact black/blue jig with good success on a difficult day. One of his fish showed early stages of a belly coming in.

If any of you would like to join us, we fish with the Devil Mountain Bassmaster www.dmbass.com out of Walnut Creek. Devil Mountain offers a more social form of tournament fishing. Our next meeting is Wednesday March 7, at 7:00 or feel free to give me a call at 925-639-7724 for more information.
      City: Walnut Creek

Tips: If you want numbers, a compact Black/blue jig, if you want weight, hold off a few days for a warming trend.

      Water Temp: 57

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Got out about 6:30am and threw the swimbait. Water was unbelievably clear. Did not have any takers after about an hour. Big front comming in and decided to go fish deeper. Fished dropshot and chrome spoon from 20 to 50 feet on points and rocky bluffs at the island, no takers. Wind came up hard at about 8:45 and cold. Big storm front moving fast, tried to stick it out. Lake got really rough and decided to come in about 9:30 am. I was extremely humbled after having some great days the last few weeks.
      City: Camarillo

Tips: No tips, but a few side notes. Did not see any fish up shallow, probably due to the front. Did see a huge catfish cruising in about 10'. I could see the bottom in about 15' of water or more. Plenty of fish suspending on the meter at about 30 feet but no takers. Tough day. Maybe do better next week.

Report: Did you guys hear me? I said I caught a STRIPER in Clear Lake? Is this not a big deal? I dont know why you guys dont believe me, its not impossible in a huge lake like clear lake. Havent you checked the bait shops around Clear Lake? I seen the pic today at Lakeshore.

      Water Temp: 46-48

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Headed out for another wet day on the lake. Started out first thing throwing the DT16 crank with no success. Tried up shollow on a windy flat bank with a spinner bait and again no success. I began to think that maybe 3 days of rain had turned them off. Jumped accross the lake to a steep bank and threw a 1/2oz hula grub and caught a nice 3 lber. Worked the jig for another hour or so on the same and similar steep drop offs with no more bites. Decided to end the day the same way I ended yesterday by throwing the deep crank bait. Worked it for about a half hour before I finally stuck a nice 4 lb 9 oz toad to end the day.
      City: Rocklin, CA

Tips: Slow bites but fish seemed to still be deep today. Both fish caught were in 12-20 feet of water. Try both shad and crawfish baits since those are the two main food for bass right now. Work one really good over a spot and then switch and try the other before leaving a spot.

      Water Temp: high 50's

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: I fished at lake almaden and hit 5 fish...1 lbs, 1.7 lbs, 2 lbs, 2.4 lbs, 3.3 lbs. I hit all five fish texas rigged on soft plastics in green pumpkin. I used a small weight just to help the plastic get down a little faster. I was fishing about 7-10 feet and i noticed they were hitting it right before it hit the bottom. The bite was very light so be aware of line movement and don't hesitate to set the hook.
      City: san jose

Tips: green pumpkin plastics have produced well here

      Water Temp: 51 - 53

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I got to the lake late Friday evening and it was cold. My wife and I were fishing early the next morning with our fishing club and we had to be out by first light and boy was it ever cold. I decided our best game plan was to head out towards the BOR and fish the three points. As I was heading in that direction I saw the water conditions were pretty rough so I decided to head toward the ranch house. It turned out to be a good choice, calmer water, but only one small keeper. I thought we would do better at the vineyards so off we went again. When we reached the vineyards there were quite a few boats there but one by one they all took off because the water conditions got very rough we finally had to leave to as the wind picked up and made it impossible to control the boat. I thought the back of big island would be a little more sheltered and that's where we headed to. It was a good idea because we were able to let the drift carry us along from the shoreline out to 24 feet. We hit all our fish in about 10 to 15 feet of water fishing the bottom slowly. My wife was using her favorite brass and glass with a senco and I was using my "River2Sea" crawdad with my procure crawdad scented gel. We only landed four fish and came in second place. My wife's spotted bass also came in second at 2.7 pounds and the winning fish was 3 pounds. It was a very tough fishing day weather wise but we had alot of hits and had the water been calmer I think we would have both limited out. 'til next week..................good fishing!!!!!
