      Whoopbass,
Had a pretty slow day at clear lake. Caught 2 fish in the morning. Mid twenties when we launched. Both caught on LV 500's. Only saw one other fish caught. tried a few minnows but nada. was going to give them a try in the afternoon but had to cut the trip short. My 13 yr old managed to stick a hook deep in his hand. Left around 1 so we could wait 3 hours in the ER. Tried a couple of new spots that looked promising. Biggest was 2 pounds.

      Rio Vista Fishing Report
The best place to score a striped bass or sturgeon seems to be below Decker Island in the area of the Power Lines at Light 14 and the Red Barn, where boaters anchor and use threadfin shad or sardine filets. Small stripes and occasionally, a 10-pounder is caught. Eel/crawler combos continues to lead the way for sturgeon anglers in front of Collinsville

Bank anglers tossing shad and eel prevail for an occasional Sturgeon or Striper those looking for fun.

      Discovery Bay Fishing Report
Black bass bite improved a bit as water temps stabilize in the fifties. Most Blackie anglers are sticking with rip baits and a-rigs searching ledges near flats om he Indian creek Side Others looking to beat the cool conditions are drop shotting 6 and 7 inch worms. Nice sized stripes are grabbing Bad Bubba Shad . There seems to be a run on Crappie Jigs. This would indicate a crappie bite but no ones talking.

      Frank’s Tract Fishing Report
Black bass bite both OK but ya gotta Slow down with the weather rolling through more consistently. It’s no secret what staying in the 12-15 foot depth can produce. • Report: From Shasta Lake
      December 23, 2016 at 1:01pm ·
      Good afternoon Shasta Lake!
As we enter the Christmas weekend, we are getting some intense weather! Although it doesn't show on the CDEC information, since midnight we have received 2.06" of rain! I apologize for the lack of current pictures, but the visibility is pretty low right now.
Even before the rain started the lake was at 120% of the historical average to date (73% full). With the rain since midnight we are starting to increase the storage even more.
The most interesting part is that the snow levels are rather low. We have had reports of snow falling in Lakehead. There are chain restrictions in numerous areas as well as several accidents. Follow this link for the CalTrans Quick Map for the most up to date information: quickmap.dot.ca.gov/
Even though I am loving this rain, it is a shame to see carelessness on the road in weather like this.
Please travel safely if you heading to be with family in the next couple of days!
Since I will not be back with another report before the weekend...
      MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

    • Report: From Glory Hole Sports
The lake came up nine feet this past week! The lake has been beautiful and the fish are biting.
The weather forecast is calling for blue skies and nice weather for most of the week.
The concrete ramp is open and many boats are launching with ease.
The right side of the ramp is plenty wide and the concrete extends past the end of the dock
The left side is a little narrow, but still wide enough to launch most boats. The dirt launch is also still available for use.

Last year on December 19, 2015 the lake was at 801 ft in elevation. We are currently at 877 ft in elevation. The lake is in much better shape than this time last year. At this rate we can expect to have a concrete ramp and a dock in the water for the entire 2017 season.

We still need the next few months to produce some serious rainfall, but we remain very optimistic.

Stop by the store on your way to the lake and we can set you up with everything you would need to have a great day on the water.

Thanks- from all of us at Glory Hole Sports

We look forward to seeing the lower 4 lane ramp on Glory Hole Point going in the water at 899.00

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Burr, was it ever cold today, fingers mostly. Something like 37 degrees when I got launched this morning, slightly breezy, no killer winds! Bite was slow, so typical this time of year, think water is about 51 degrees. Got 7 spotted bass, most looking like clones to this one, around 13 1/2-14", didn't really measure any. Looks like next week colder and lots more rains to help water levels. Light wood on the lake, didn't see any heavy stuff, be careful.!! Released all fish to grow bigger and catch again one day as always do. Two days ago the lake came up 9 feet, and 2 feet since then, 11 feet since the 10th. More coming which means lime saddle should make it till next year without a shutdown. Picture in fishing forum.

    • Report: From Cooch's Fishing
      December 8 at 12:38pm ·
The December bite here on The Delta is very tough for most anglers as winter patterns are kicking in. This past week I took out a father son duo, who are avid trout fishermen. They have been experimenting with black bass fishing here on the Delta and wanted a trip with me to clue them in on how ta catch fish on this river with more consistency. Certainly not the optimal time to take out a couple of rookie bass fisherman, yet we tied on a ripbait and TNT jigs and went after em. Our rip fish were all smaller, non keeper fish, yet was a tactic these two had not been exposed to very much. We had to scratch and grind thru the day for 12 solid jig fish in the 2-3lbs range. The Booby Trap and new Gunpowder versions where the ticket for the day and have now converted these two into jig fisherman. Awesome winter day fishing with Dave and his son Alex!

Report: Burr, it was cold today, 32 degrees at the ramp according to my car. Bite was just as cold, could not find fish worth a darn today. Still caught fish, but not many. Either fish were deep or just not in the mood as I only got 6 fish this am. But didn't fish long, gave up at 10:30 and called it a day, as my feet were just killing me from being cold. All fish about the same size as in the picture, didn't measure it, looked to be 13-maybe barely 14" Colder next week. Interesting, at the Lime Saddle ramp, a large school of Coho 6-7" fingerlings were breaking water all over the place, they must have planted today or a day or two prior. Quite a few going belly up too. Picture in fishing forum.

    • Report: Delta Report…Stripers Sturgeon Solid Bass action settling in.
ABA Kicks off Out Of Russo’s Marina Saturday morning promises to be a good tight Tournament as Fall winter conditions settle in.
Isleton Looks good as anglers take advantage of cooler water temperatures with Stripers and Smallmouth leading the way. Water temperatures have dropped with the cooler storms. The salmon bite remains good as season winds down. Salmon anglers are still seeing success around Ryde Hotel.
Walnut Grove . Fair for the trolling anglers, but fish cracking the 15 pound plus keeps anglers hopes up. Savage Prey series and Angry Eyes are the top choices here as well, there seems to bit more call for chartreuse patterns here. Bank anglers livers and cut baits prevail for plenty 2 to 4 pound catfish evenings are top for those looking for a few bites. Bass anglers try some smallie fishing, crankbaits and brown blue jigs and getting the Smallmouth.
Discovery Bay Some nice fish coming out of Discovery Bay this week. Bigger fish have been falling for a 8" Savage Gear 3D SHINE GLIDE. Dropshot will put more fish in the boat but the size is just not there. A-rigs and Rip Baits starting to work well now. Dress warm and enjoy the your time in Discovery Bay. Some Nice fish are coming Cranking Square bills like the DDO custom KP used to land several like the one pictured this week.
Frank’s Tract Stripers and bass bite both OK but ya gotta Slow down with the cold temperatures. It’s no secret what a little fall weather can do. Ripbaits are great options while small swim baits and swim jigs get the mention. We found plenty of Stripers and Black Bass with A-rigs, Swim Baits, like the Bone Colored Shine Glides getting grabbed. Lot of Stripers in main River and Mildred areas.
West Delta The West as in Honker Bay to the Bait tossers are getting fish when wind cooperates. Sturgeon quietly is slipping into the spotlight. There were many shaker sturgeon reports in double power lines in Decker Island and Sherman Island. There were few shaker sturgeons also reports from Light 42 to Light 49 in the deep channel Most of the nice stripers coming soaking Shad, anchovies and sardines .
Las Vaqueros Fishing for trout continues to be good even with the increased water temperature. They are being caught in South Cove and Oak Point as well as Peninsula Cove. The baits of choice for shore anglers are garlic-scented PowerBaits, nightcrawlers or Kastmaster lures. Trout average a pound and a half but range to over 5 lbs. There was a 1000 pound Lassen plant on November 28th. Light tackle is important for catching trout with 4-6 pound test being plenty. Trout fishing is good especially in the morning, with limits being caught from around the reservoir and more fish being caught overall. Several large trout were brought into the Marina this week. These included an 8 pound fish caught on a Kastmaster in South Cove, a 7.1 pounder caught in Cowboy Cove on powerbait and a 7.2 pound trout caught on a nightcrawler in South Cove. More limits are starting to show up from South Cove and from boats around the lake.
Contra Loma 500 Pounds of trout planted this week have anglers smiling. While there are very few anglers taking advantage of the put and take trout fishery here that action is solid. Kastmasters and floating baits are the keys. Marshmallows and crawlers are working for Loma regulars.

      Water Temp: 52

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Went out of Big Break. On the water around 6:45AM, first light. Wind less than 5PM, after last week's rain and some serious wind the day before. Chasing stripes until about 7:30 until this fog bank rolled in from the East, headed back to the Marina and it cleared by 8AM, pushed into Dutch
but the water was really badly stained. Threw rattles, swim baits, cranks with no takers. It was high tide when I pushed out so the tide started to move out by 9AM. Switched my target to LMB throwing plastics but no action there either. Off the water by around 9:30 to warm up.

Tips: Wear layers, bring hand warmers, if you see fog coming in head the other way or be prepared to use your GPS to find your way around.

    • Water Temp: 55-56

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Long cold front early morning, misty and foggy. Launched at 8:15, missed the morning bite. Had my Navigation lamps up until noon. Launched at South Shore, water level was up compared to last year (68% full) Lakemaster map -17 feet (not too bad). The bite was not on, Fished the south end mostly, 20-25' depths off main lake points. Humminbird was showing suspending, stationary fish 10' above bottom, Tied on a Pearl colored Norman Deep Little N crank bait and couldn't get anything, 3" bluegill Storm swim bait, still no luck. Drop shot had some bites but couldn't get fish to commit. Boated over some deeper water but nothing showing on the sonar, went back to 25-27' range and found fish. Moved around some, tied a few more lures on but they just weren't in the mood.

Tips: I would try spoons between 25-30' as the water gets colder. Definitely bring some warm clothes.

    • Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Burr, another cold one on the lake today, 38 degrees at the ramp when I launched at 6:40am. With the rains we have been getting the water still looks good, not clouded up at all. Never made it to the north fork, winds blew so hard, that my trolling motor would not hold the boat, had to use the outboard on idle to hold position. Gave up fishing at 10:30, way too much wind for me and my little boat. Picked up a fish here and there, with last point in the winds giving up three fish. Kind of a slow bite today, got just 9 fish, best right at 15". Most caught 25-35 feet. One of these days, no wild winds might help me catch a few more. Did pick up one fish on my last cast of the day at the docks. Picture in fishing forum.

    • Water Temp: 60-62

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: A very nice married couple called me last week and wanted to go bass fishing - for the first time!! Never bass fished before and wanted to learn more about it and about Lake Berryessa. Great people and we had a great time learning! This is a rod - this is a reel.....no, it wasn't that bad. The weather was cloudy and very cool. After lots of instruction about rod and reels, baits, areas to look for bass in different seasons, we started fishing. Soon they were casting spinning outfits very well and seemed to be working worms and other plastics very well. As one would expect, they lost their first few bites. Setting the hook for bass is always a learning process for beginners. In the afternoon they did land a few bass, but they were small. Funny - the small ones were in an area that usually produces bigger bass. One never knows! Great people and think I got them "hooked!"

Tips: Drop-shotting Robo worms in shad colors seemed to work the best for them. MM111 worked a bit also. Most bites came from 15 to 30 feet of water.

      Water Temp: 58

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Water levels and temp: Water levels have risen significantly in the last two weeks due to the recent rain, which has lifted the 5 mph restrictions, so put the pedal to the metal! Water temps are ranging from 57-59 degrees. Surface temp was also in the upper 50's to low 60's. Wind was blowing pretty good on the main body at 10- 15 mph with gusts to 20mph. Calmer water was found on the south and north arms and within creek channels. Water clarity is surprisingly clear even after the rains

Fishing: It’s all about the bait! If you can find balls of bait fish you will find the bass. Right now the bass are scattered and aren’t schooled up like they usually are but, again, if you can find the bait you will have a good chance of putting multiple bass in the boat. Fish were found at 20-30 foot depths with the occasional shallow water fish.

Fishing locations: Concentrating on the creek channels and offshore structure on the main body will give you the best opportunity to find and catch these guys. New York Creek produced a couple decent fish down at the 30-foot range. Offshore Rock Piles and Island Tops seem to be holding fish too. Any creek channels or offshore structure holding bait is going to be your best bet. Anderson Island and Anderson Creek had holding fish as well in 30 foot depths.

Bait: Finesse, finesse, finesse! That’s the name of the game in Folsom Lake right now. Drop-shot a Robo Worm. Shaky Head, Neko rig senko, and 3/8 oz football jig in green pumpkin or brown and purple with double paddle tail grub trailers will get the job done. A few shallow fish were caught yo-yoing a lip-less crank bait in red eye shad or LV500. Even The Staysee 90 got a few.

What to expect: You want ‘em? You’re going to have to work for them. Expect the fishing to be a little tough, especially with the colder weather coming in, but don't give up!! Find the bait and drop it on their heads. My predictions are the fish are in early winter mode so you're going to have to put the bait right in front of their face. Good luck!

Tips: Most important tip is to be patient.and Find the bait!
