      Report: To Jim Scarlett,
thanks for a very informative report! this is the type of information that really helps all of us out and it it appreciated Jim.
Brian feels that I was bashing you but it was not meant to come across that way so I want to appologize if you took it that way. I know you by reputation only and would never bash a fellow fisherman and especially for to one who is at least posting reports.
Brian states that maybe you should just catch the fish for me and then hand me the rod well that would be ok with me maybe while you were catching them I could learn something from you. I am out on the water every weekend trying to learn so I am not sitting on my butt behind a computer as Brian mentioned. I don't understand all the hostility...maybe he was an abused child and he just hates everyone who knows! But I would like to thank you and all those who post informative reports.

My report for Folsom 12/29: went up into the Rock Gardens with a good friend and managed 5 fish up to 2 lbs drop shotting Aarons Magic and Prizom Shad 4" worms. Nothing on jigs and all fish caught between 15-20 ft.
      City: Roseville

Tips: Treat others as you would want to be treated. Remember there are men and women dieing for our freedoms so why do some have to fight and argue with our fellow americans. If you have that much to complain about then move to another country, otherwise just be happy that you live in a country that offers so much.
      thanks again Jim!

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished yesterday with my buddy Johnny Mac, and enjoyed a great day on the lake. The bite was really on early. We caught almost 20 keepers before 9:30 with a couple of 4 lb Blacks and 1- 4 lb smallie with a bunch of fish in the 2 lb class. Last year we were catching fish in 40' on deep structure. The last couple of trips the better fish have come out of the 20-30' range, and we're seeing fish much shallower than that. I'm not sure what's happening but as long as I can keep finding them I guess it doesn't matter.
      City: Weaverville

Tips: When you're re-lining in the living room, don't leave the spool where Momma can catch the tag end with the Hoover. Picking a rats nest out of a Chronach ain't nothing like tryin to get 150 Yds of flourocarbon off the agitator of a Vacuum Cleaner. Anyone know where I can get a belt for a Hoover?

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Headed up to the Forebay by myself new years morning. Arrived late, on the water and fishing about 8am. Threw my lucky rattle trap and picked up two largemouth about 2 and 3 pounds in the weeds. Had one nice follower. I was ready to give up when I decided to give the rock wall one last try. Managed to finally land a striper around 24" using a wild eyed swim shad. Things seem to be slowing down at the forebay. Not a lot of water moving.
      City: Clovis

Tips: I usually like the forebay, but I'm going to give the big lake a shot next time.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: The trout bite has been really good this year.We had 11 fish for 37lbs on the 14th and lost six fish near the net.The kids are still learning what to do.New years day seven up to 5 1/2 lbs.The 21st landed seven up to 4lb 10 oz with again several lost fish and bites. These fish in this cold water are very frisky! Some of our rods were pulled into the water!Gotta love it!Didn't really try hard for bass yet.

Tips: No secrect techniques here, just throw power bait or power eggs from shore.IF you see them surfacing a sliding bobber with a crawler does well. Some people did manage around 4 fish per boat trollin white grubs from what I heard on the water from shore.

      Water Temp: Cold

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: First time on this lake. On the water at 8am. It was very cold and overcast all day. Tried the south end around the bridge with no luck. Decided to move back up towards the north part of the lake and my partner nailed a 3.5lber trolling a deep diving, craw colored crank bait. Moved north to fish off some of the rocky points (main and secondary). I hit a nice little 1.5lber on a C rigged Big Ika off a rocky secondary in about 5ft of water. Talked to a few people fishing and everybody said it had been pretty slow recently. Going back soon.
      City: Santa Cruz

Tips: Again, first time on the lake but this is what I noticed. Marked most of the fish at 30-45ft suspended. I'm guessing that drop shotting this place is optimal this time of year though I didn't catch any with this method. Work your bait slowly. Smaller soft plastics with little action.

      Water Temp: 45.1 - 46.4

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Water is very stained right now, Had high tides and tough fishing. We fished Mandeville, little franks, franks, fishermans cut, sand mound, and a few places inbetween. Fish are all holding deep with cold water. Use darker colors with stained water, fish smaller baits and fish em slow. Jigs, creatures, dropshotting 15ft-20ft. It was slow but ill take a slow day fishing over a fast day at work anytime!
      City: Minden

Tips: Wait for the water to warm up some and look deep for the fish in the meantime. Have fun and cyas on the water!

      Water Temp: surface low 50'

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Went out several times the past 3 weeks on my tube with a fly rod and spin rod. Caught a few small bass drop shotting around bass cove. Havn't caught anything on jigs or senkos. I hooked into what I think was a bass in half moon bay that had to be a giant, fly popped out of her mounth while she was directly under my tube. I couldn't get her up with my 4 wt. rod and 4 lb tippet. I caught several trout on my fly rod and about 5 of them over 5lbs fishing wooly buggers. Fishing is slow right now during the day because of the full moon. Fish early or late

      Water Temp: 50 ish early

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Started out on main point to south fork, tossed 1/4 oz jigs (watermelon), got a quick limit in about ten casts at around thirty feet with one about four on first cast with the ole trusty 6" castais swimbait(shallow). Bite shut down as fast as it started so moved to Deep Ravine but there was a boat on the break already, so I moved further upstream acroos from New york Creek and jigged some more(all blacks to four lbs). The bite died there also(I must have a red X on the bottom of the boat. Moved back to Deep Ravine and boater was gone, stopped by the break and tossed jigs again with no luck. I moved the boat with trolling motor acrosss the saddle and saw a nice fish on my Lowrance 332 and dropped a basstrix down to it, caught it(black about four lbs0. You can figure up the weight. Bite turned off for my style of fishing so I just cruised looking for bait.
      City: Sac

Tips: Looking for the bait after it shuts down gives you a hint as to where the bass may be during the feeding time, althought they will move an appreciable distance sometimes. All bass were aggressive (so they are hungry). Good fishing, don't worry, be happy, Jimbo

Fish are eating early and late. Moved into the main body about 10am and still finding bass in 25-40 ft with a hula grub. No reaction bites.
      City: Rocklin

      Tips: fish deep and slow.

Report: I worked the rainbow pond in 27-35' feet again and caught 2 bass around 14". One was caught suspended at 15' in 30' of water and the other caught on the bottom in 30-35' of water.

Tips: Please catch and release the bass.

      Water Temp: 47-52

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Went out with Jim Jim for traditional new years fishing trip. Beautiful day at Sonoma wind very cooperative, Sunny, hardly any boat traffic, but not alot of fish. Jim got the first one about 11:45 on a dropshot at "Ricky's tree" nice fight, wrapped on a branck but stayed on finally made it to the side of the boat and to our surprise it was about a 3lb steelhead. Fished Yorty and Cherry for the am with no fish the mor north the more muddy the water was. Went to the Dam and Jim got a nice 1.7 on the drop shot about 1:45 he then got a 2.2 on the same rig. finally went south and water was clearer. I got a nice smallie with a great fight and Jim got one more about 1.8 and I lost it's twin at the boat. Nothing big but great to be out fishing! Hunters we saw at the ramp did harvest one hog with a bow.
      City: Pacifica

Tips: Tried Jigs, blade, jerk bait, crank bait, t-Rig, even Scott's special worm and the only thing that worked was the drop shot 10-38 feet. Clearer water in the south was much more productive!

Wish more people would post to this site.
