      Report: DOG,

I fished Quarry also last Saturday, only I was at horseshoe with another sniffer in a kayak. I caught one bass on my trout bait but lost him at the boat when he jumped because I could not set the hook with my ultra light pole.

      Check your PM's on fishsniffer!

      Water Temp: COLD

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Went out on Sat and got 3 nice bass up to 3.5 lbs on a drop shot in about 20-25 ft ( Rainbow ). The bite was slow and ALL THE BASS WENT BACK IN THE WATER, so they could live.
Not like some people who fish this lake. It kills me to see guys take home fish that do not get planted in this lake. If you want to eat fish try Trout of Catfish.....they are stocked in Horshoe.
      City: S.L.

      Water Temp: 47-48

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I made another short trip to Clear Lake at the end of last week and did catch a few bass. I started 45 minutes before dark and caught a 4-3 and a 3-14 bass on brown/orange Rodstrainer jigs w/Yami #180 grub trailers. One was 25 feet deep and the other over 30 feet deep - in the narrows. I did some rippin' as I did in the previous trip but no takers. I went to dinner feelin' pretty good about my 4 lb average (har!) and started again about 7:30 pm. After getting my token 10 incher out of the way, I caught a 2-9, 2-8, and a 2-3, all on Power hogs. So - how about that - a limit - wow!! Hey, at least it was over 15 lbs which isn't saying much. The night bass were caught north and south of Konocti Resort in rocky areas. They were very deep too. The cloud cover I hope would increase instead decreased with a bright moon soon showing. I wasn't in the mood to flip docks or other shadows, so I went home! Those bass lost out of my company! Serves 'em right!! I did have a big bass pick up my "hog" in about 25 feet of water. I did get a hookset after I realized I was pulling a fish in addition to my bait. I stuck her for an instant but she rolled off the hook. Another one I would have liked to see!!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: I think the carp have even realized that the water is now cold - did not hear a single one roll - even in the moonlight! I did throw jigs at night but they seem to want the Power hogs - with added Smelly Jelly!! Once the bass adjust to the suddenly cold water, I think the bite might return some. If you look at the long range forcast for some VERY cold weather - maybe not!! I think giving seminars in warm buildings sounds better to me!!! See you there!

      Water Temp: warm

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Caught all fish from beds, all were spotted bass. They seemed to be all males??? Beds were on all shorelines facing either direction, most on northern face. Caught plenty, no real big ones.
      City: sac

Tips: Run trolling motor along shoreline shallow enough to see beds, when you see one , immediately pick a rock or something as a guide to the bed, turn around and approach from the deep side after about a minute, giving them enough time to relocate. Cast to the area with bed not in sight for best results.

      Water Temp: 56-59 Deg

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Got out on the water about 2pm just as the droves of boats were pulling out to catch the Super Bowl. I fished until about 4:30 pm and caught two about three pounds on the drop shot fished at 40'. The fish were fat porkers maybe full of eggs. Wish I would have gotten there sooner or could have stayed later. Got bit one other time but missed. Water was beautiful and flat.
      City: Camarillo

Tips: Slow drop shot deep seems to be a great pattern right now. Did really well last week with this same pattern. Fished secondary points and had fish all over the meter at 40'. 4" flat worm in oxblood/flake color.

Report: For all the trout guys wondering where to catch big planters, just rent a boat and motor to half moon bay, throw out some powerbait or nightcrawlers and sit on your ass and wait...This is the best spot in the lake for trout.

For the bass anglers looking to stick some Chabot hawgs, look for drop-offs, deep water structure, submerged trees and deep weed beds in the winter and early spring. I have had the best days fishing this type of water water with pig n' jigs, swimbaits, and brush hawgs. The bass are out there, but there are smart as hell and have been in lake since the late 60's (Chabot was the first lake in Nor Cal to be planted with Florida strain bass) Do something different to entice the bass since they have seen almost everything in the book.
      City: Chico

Tips: Put your time in. An average day of bass fishing at Chabot is to get skunked. A good week of bass fishing at Chabot is to catch one or two, but those fish maybe big dogs. Pick up some garbage while your at it, the lake looks like shit with all the fishing traffic it gets.

      Water Temp: 47

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Got on the water around 11am today before the rain. Wind was pretty strong coming out of the north west. Stayed around Rattle Snake and the close vacinity. Graphed lots of suspended fish but they would not eat. Lots of shad in the water too! TRied dropshot, spoons, jigs, ripbaits and a c-rig...nada for 3 hours. I think the bass must be eating at night right now with the full moon. Could not manage even a single bite today. Will try the north part of the lake tomorrow or Friday...weather permiting.
      City: Fairfield

Tips: Go to Berryessa! The bite has been outstanding there.

Report: hair jigs outfished rubber jigs 3 to 1.in the colder water hair seems to work better, caught 2limits on running water entering the lake with a chart.blade with zoom trailer.
      City: lakehead

Tips: steep stuff deep, blades on running water and waterfalls and creeks.pit is producing nice limits, but sac arm still top choice.

Report: hair jig-porky pined, brown with copper head with bungee cords made by a kid or his dad locally. ended up with a 2.5lb. avaerage all on sac arm. bungee jigs are brand new and would tell you who makes them but someone would say i am spamming this site-so go to phils and ask.
      City: lakehead

Tips: use copper bladed mepps spinners for limit, and cull them out with hair jigs.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Responding to Dave from Pacifica I agree there should be more fishing reports on this Lake. Although I havn't fished sinced the REBC tournament on December 16th I know four boats participated in a friendly winner takes all tournament on New Years Day. The tournament was won by the team of Joe Leonard and Patrick McGee with 5 fish for 17lbs. anchored by a 6lb largemouth that fell for a jig in 10ft. of water. Joe and Pat have won the last three tournaments they fished here and there go to bait has always been the pig and jig which is a great winter bait. There only suggestion is to work the bait really slow and hang on and set the hook when the bass "THUMP" the bait.
      City: Santa Rosa

Tips: Redwood Empire Bass Club next tournament is January 20th at Clear Lake out of Red Bud. Whether you are a beginner or experienced bass fisherman we welcome you to fish with us this year. With 10 out of 11 tournaments being held at Sonoma, Clear Lake and Berryessa and having Marine Unlimited, Outdoor Pro Shop and West Marine as sponsors, you will have lots of fun fishing with us. Please join us next Wednesday at 7p.m. at the Rohnert Park Community Center at the corner of Rohnert Park Expressway and Snyder Lane. Our guest speaker will be Dave Church who with three different partners has won the 12/10 ABA Team at Berryessa(9.03 big fish)and the 12/2 WON team at Berryessa and placed 2nd at the 11/26 Anglers Choice Team at Berryessa. Dave is a past member of the club and will be sharing his winning formulas with us. For more info click on the club section on this website or log onto rebc.net.Call me at 707.758.5762 anytime.
