Folsom Lake

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Fishken - My point exactly! I too am an avid bass fisherman that also enjoys being out on the water doing other activities. These over-obsessed tourney guys have had that lake all to themselves for the past 6 months. Go fish the 5MPH Zone or Lake Natomas if you don't want to to deal with families out on the lake during the warm weather. Unless you have truely been assualted by a boat wake, and fallen into the lake as a result, while fishing in a 5 mph zone quit bitchin.
City: FolsomTips: Must we group all the good people that use the lake for family recreation "Lake Lice?" C'mon guys. I can think of hundreds of terms for the over obsessed bass guy.

New Melones Lake

Water Temp: 80
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Started bass fishing around 10am and finished at 3pm. Caught many keeper size spots with the largest around 4lb. Fished up river. Fish are very aggressive and active. Dropshot, spinnerbait, and chrt crappie tube. Caught many crappie but nothing worth keeping to eat.
City: MantecaTips: Deep dropoffs and rocks were the key. Bass caught in 10-20ft water with dropshot using oxlbood or prism shad robos and a little shallower with spinnerbait. But the fish moved up shallower if rocks/boulders are present. Fish the spinnerbait fast, get the blades going and try a trailer hook.

Water Temp: 79
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Took my 6 year old to the after bay on monday the 27TH. They had droped the water level downe to 128.6' so it was pretty hard to find a good place to fish. we through buzz baits in the morning for minamum sucsess. but got on a good worm bite about 9:30am around the tullies in about 2' my son caught a nice 5-lbr and a few others around 2-lbs, I had several between 3 and 4-lbs. all came on 4" yum lizards. All the fish wanted the lizard out in front of the tullies not up against them or in them. You could see the bottom in 2' but did not see the fish till they hit and ran back to the tullies.
City: OrovilleTips: Take plenty of fluids with you, and dont forget the 4" lizards in watermellon green flake. Good luck and tight lines.

Water Temp: 70ish
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Took 3 buddies up to the Yorty Creek side to fish from the shore. 1 wanted flyfishing lessons, 1 is avid fishermen (fishing for catfish & crappie), 1 is A.D.D. in the worst way and lasted 10 minutes w/ line in the water. My boy got some catfish bites but no hook ups. Got there around 5:30pm and left at 9:00pm - I caught 10 crappie on a Olive green/copperhead #12 lettin it sink deep and slow stripping line - had never caught crappie here before - so had a great time and impressed the friends as they caught 1 between the 3 of them.
City: Santa RosaTips: Fish all coves for panfish, deeper and bigger for crappie - slow play senkos for bass. I wish they would keep Yorty open later - or open earlier! Tight lines yall!

Report: Took the boat out at 5pm. went down the first cove near the lauch ramp and yanked up a 4.7 on a senko off the rocks at the end. Worked the entire cove but seems they are holding on structure like large rocks and weeds. the 4.7 was only dec. fish

Report: Got to the lake late so the reaction bite was not happening at all,Fluke's and Jerkbait not one follow. So broke out the old Anchovie's and ran to the dam to fish the trash rack's.Was flat calm in Portiguez cove but when i got to the dam man it was like an ocean 3 foot swell's easy.First drop fish on 3lb's.Second drop another one but by then after the third swell over the bow i thought safty first and headed back to calmer water but no fish there. Then about noon it laid down some so ran back to the dam and was catching fish allmost every drop.Anchovie's with smallest weight you can use and just mooch like your Salmon fishing.
City: SalinasTips: Use caution over here it can be down right dangerous. The only people catching fish with consitancy were boat's with electric motor's so your line is straight down not at an angle from drifting to fast.Fish are only down 25 35 feet over 230' of water.

California Delta
-
Water Temp: 74 - 78
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: started late, about 7AM - first three were all frog fish and the bigger fish for the day. Frog in the AM, weed edges rather than in the weeds - my hookup ratio was about 50%. If they missed on the first try, I could not get them to go again on a frog or a followup plastic. Switched to beavers for the rest of the fish - tule islands with deep water access nearby - where the tules and weeds met, they were in that seam (right nest to the tule), taking it on the initial fall - but all were 2-3 lbers. dropshotted some docks but only caught small ones. Caught about ten, honest best five was about 12 - 13lbs. off the water by 2pm.
City: belmontTips: look for stained, not muddy water. pleasure boaters wakes pressure the fish, so stay out of those areas (nice eye candy tho). the frog bite is very good in the right areas.

Water Temp: 72-73 degrees

Report: Did a Guide trip with a Gentlemen from Pleasanton. What a day, it started out slow but ended HOT. It was an Instructional from the beginning teaching him how to use a levelwind in Flipp'in and Pitch'in. Started him off with a jig (Weight) and worked down to a senko. Worked a couple of spots around Franks in the morning with Zero results. Went all the way down to Cruiser Haven area with the same result, He did get hit acouple times but missed. After looking at the water color, I started back up and was headed for Potatoe Sl when I noticed that one of my Favorite tule lines was calm enough to fish (Windy in the Morning)pulled in and drove the boat right into the tules and started fish'in..by this time the Gentleman was good with the Pitch'in and flippin. Sett'in the hook was at first a problem. He missed two straight, I started fishin and put two 2's in the boat inwhich showed him how to set on fish. From that point on he put a 3# and two 5#'s in the boat. The last one was hilaris, I don't know who had who. I never seen a Five demolish tules like that before. We ended the day and dead low around 2PM. The week before in the same area, I was fishing with my Son and I Hit a 9.1lb and a 6lb.
See Ya on the Water

City: Russo's MarinaTips: There are still fish spawn'in (Small Amount) late blummer's.. If you are fish'in a shallow flat, pitch your jig, brush hog, senko into the center of whatever you feel that will hold a fish no matter how small of tullies, especially know that we're having cloudless days. Run your boat up into the tullies and just flip or pitch ever 1-2ft. Move the boat half the distance of length and repeat. All I can say is hit them hard and start reel'in.

This past Saturday was another scorcher at Lake Berryessa. Water temperature at the ranch house cove was 81.6 degrees. Tom Trice and I left the marina at the crack of dawn and headed straight out to the ranch house. He used a baby crawdad and dragged it while we were both throwing crankbait. He got his first bass on the crawdad. We saw a few boils and when we threw into them it was not bass but trout and salmon following our baits back. We stopped going for bass because of the water temperature and went into the cove and threw River2Sea minnow looking crankbaits. The boat was in fifteen feet of water and we threw into seven feet of water and brought the suspending crankbait to where it was tipping the grass. Bringing it in slowly we hit one crappie after another almost on every cast. It was very exciting to catch crappie this way. The crappie were good size too up to three pounds. Sunday my fishing club chartered the "C-Gull" out of Emeryville Marina and we went for strippers and halibut. There were small halibut (not keeper size) being caught all day and some sharks plus a stingray. Two keeper strippers were caught and three keeper halibut. The halibut weighed in at almost 7 pounds, almost 9 pounds and the largest one was 27.9 pounds caught by me. It was a beautiful day calm water and good fishing buddies. 'til next week...........................good fishing!!!!!

Report: on the water at 6:30 throwing topwater. Had some action on the eastside across from rancho montecello. The 'splash it'action died at 8am. The bite was very sproadic. Moved out to about 25' and started catching them using deep diving cranks and dropshotting. ended up releasing about 25 fish, mostly smallies. One smallie was 3#, the rest were 2# and less. Good action, hot weather.
Tips: The fish are relating to the grass and move around looking for food. Use your graph to find them and then fish as there are large areas where they are just not biting. This is the time of the year that when you catch one fish, other fish may follow and trigger a feeding frenzy.

Report: Launched my black bass tracker boat with super HP Honda motor and went all over the lake looking for my PB LM bass at Berryessa today. My girl friend brought her digital camera along in case I do catch my PB LM bass today. Started around 6:30 am, fished the coves and caught 20 dinks using my white spinner bait ( threw them back). No big mamma hawgs in sight, kept tossing my 12 inch swimbait every where in and out, shallow and deep, no big mamma hawgs located. So, I started using cranks in deep water drop shotting a rapala broken back silver shad , and caught my biggest smallie ever, a 5.8LB smallie fat as a LM mamma hawg, she was in 25+ feet deep water near Capell cove. I released her after taking pictures. I don't post pictures cause I want my privacy when I fish. Caught around 10 smallies dinks later afterwards, good keeper size but I threw them all back. Great beautiful day at Berryessa!
City: ConcordTips: Use spinnerbaits in white and chartrusse colors with trailers in the morning, switch over and troll swimbaits in the afternoon, and try drop shotting cranks DEEP after 2pm around 25+ feet drop offs. Try to cover as much area as possible when using a boat, fish 10-15 minutes... no bites move on to another section of the lake. Dark senkos work best in shallow water.

Report: Gold Coast Bass Tourney - Launch at 6AM with expected warm temps as the early AM hours were warm and little if any small pockets of fog -
Busy day this morning as there were three tourneys going and a few changes on times had to be made.
Hit the reeds south of Arrowhead Island 1st thing with about 5 other boats proving a good 1st stop and it proved a good choice but nothing over 12 inch's was taken on top water and drop shot with robo's and FX's. Worked the edges and the inside but still no keepers.
Moved off to the narrows and worked the walls with plenty of 10 to 11 inch fish on the same setup - still no keepers. Worked the toolies just across from the reed line by the island with finally a keeper using a Sweet Beaver.
Headed off towards the dam area and takled with some Santa Barabara Club Basser's with three or four boats with good weights on spots. Headed inside Lil Cachuma and hit a few on jigs.
Weigh in at 2PM - Winners - 12+ on 5 // Big Fish - 6+
City: Santa MariaTips: Brown Head Spider Jigs were a hot bait on matted areas.

Report: Hey Kev, wouldnt you agree that if a certain body of water is over run with lake lice ie. jet skiers, and that effects the fishing, then dont you think that is part of a fishing report? I would think that it is.
