      Water Temp: n/a

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Cast a purple flake senko under the dock and caught my PB 15.9 lb LM bass. Unbelievable luck and first cast, guess she was feeding and didn't care, caught her about 7:30 am. I weight her and my girl friend took a picture and released her back at a secret spot so she would be safe the next time I come out.
      City: Concord

Tips: Senkos in dark color with light line 10lb test super thin.

Report: Headed out of Granite Bay @ 05:00 and started throwin a spook on the hazard markers straight accrost from GB. Wow! What fun that was. I picked up two keepers by 5:15. My buddy was throwing a Pop-R and had several dinks. Before the sun came up over the hills, I landed and released 6 spots with one of them being a 3+.

After the sun hit the water, we changed to drop-shoting and of course I grabbed my Nate Shake rod and pulled in several more in the 1.5 to 2# range.

Of the water by 9:00 and on to the lawns.
      City: Granite Bay

Tips: Watch KB's Summer time Folsom video in Tony's TV selections. Then go out and have fun.

      Water Temp: Warm

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I must say that I am rather concerned about the past reports regarding fish that were caught and eaten. Oh my goodness! Don't tell me, fish that were legally caught were consumed by humans. Don't say it is so. Please don't say it is so. NO! Don't eat the black bass. Cage raised trout taste better. Probably alot like cat food. Come on guys stop it. Sounds like a bunch of Sh_t slurring from a guide that can't stand other fisherman catching better quality fish more consistently than himself. Truth hurts. Trinity Lake was built for recreational activities. That means eating fish. I am going to travel hundreds of miles with my kids to eat fish that I could buy at Costco. Your catch and release goals only satisfies your own pocket. Quit using this site to enhance your business. THe reason our lake is so healthy with quality fish is the fact that fish are culled and eaten. Hey, lets over stock the lake like many others. When you pay 40 bucks to fish in this state, I am going to keep and eat fish. SORRY. I am a conservationist and I don't think anything is wrong with eating fish. So what, a five pound fish. Who cares! Many more fish are out there. More than stars in the sky. If you guys don't want to share the lake that is fine I will be out there catching and eating fish. If you want to protect a fishery. How about the Trinity. The dam destroyed the river. Hundreds of miles taken away from anadromous fish. Can't keep fish in the lake, can't keep fish out of the river. This PC BS is going too far. Stop the gill netting in the river. I am dang tired of people crying. Put it reality. I would be alot more concerned about the nuts in the world with nuclear weapons and people starving in other countries than some guys having a good time and eating a few fish.
      City: Lewiston

Tips: Paint your truck. Buy a Ranger, Champion boats suck.

Report: I fished Trinity on the evening of the 17th and the morning of the 18th. I fished with my 6 year old son and his 7 year old friend and his father. This was the fullest I have ever seen Trinity Lake and the views and mountain air were great. The fishing was also good. We caught close to 40 fish in about 8 hrs of fishing over two days. It was just a great trip and a great Father's day gift to spend the day fishing with my boy. By the way, my boy caught a 3.3 smallie on the first day and a 2.8 smallie on the second day. These were the largest fish he's ever caught. It was a great experience to see his face and to hear the excitement in his voice. These are memories that will last a lifetime. Thaks John Gray for the excellent time on my guided trip last year and for the tips so I could share this great fishery with other fisherman.
      City: eureka

Tips: Gitzits, in both the tailings and the East Fork. Please practise catch and release with these beautiful fish, so that more fisherman and kids can enjoy the lake for many years to come.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Well my dad and I decided to skip work and head to Cachuma for a day of fishing. He is a trout fisheman and so we decided to trout fish, but I still brought the bass tackle. We were on the lake at 7am. Headed to the dam and did some trolling, trout seemed to be on the top in the middle of the dam until 10am. We trolled a basic set-up, 1/4 oz. bananna weight, leader and night crawler. My dad had 4 fish, biggest pushing 2 1/2lbs and I had 2 1lbers. We lost several fish, including a nice one around 3lbs. By 10am fish seemed to go deep and we utilized lead line and leader tied to a frog pattern crocodile, 6 colors deep was the ticket. For those who are crappy fishermen, we caught 2 large crappy trolling with the crocodile frog. Although, I did not manage to bass fish we had a great time catching trout and crappy.
      City: Nipomo

Tips: Trout are up shallow in the middle of the dam early in the morning. Nightcrawlers and Crocodile or needlefish in frog pattern worked. Use lead line in the afternoon 6 colors deep.
I don't know how or why we caught those crappy, but in the areas we caught them we were in 80' of water and I guess they must have been suspended off the bottom.

Report: About the 3:16 bullfrog...no one throw it so i can keep it all to myself...expect the bait to get ruined after one fish, but that one fish will be well worth the money of the bait

      Water Temp: 72-80

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Yes, the water temp was 72 in the morning at Clearlake Oaks and over 80 in the afternoon around Soda Bay with a heavy algae bloom on the surface I think that is called green mud. Could the summer pattern be here - finally?! A father/son team and I caught lots of bass in the morning up to 3 1/4 lbs on a variety of dark colored worms, brush hogs, and other plastics. A DD-14 shad crank produced one bass and one catfish! I tried some brown/orange Rodstrainer Jigs w/#180 Yamamoto grub trailers and caught several. We targeted rock piles and rock/tule shorelines. Tried dropshotting docks, but couldn't find willing bass. As we worked our way to Henderson Point and Soda Bay to state park, the weather for the next several days at Clear Lake set up - not a breath of air moving and almost hot. I don't want to be there at 2 pm tomorrow!!! Anyway, the bite got better as it got hotter - typical Clear Lake pattern. The highlight was dad and son getting a double hookup around 1:30 pm and landing both - over 8 lbs for combined weight! I love it - dad who is not a bass fisherman - beats the pros with his 4 lb 5 oz bass - in the back seat! Love it!!!! The other bass was 3 3/4. However, sonny lands another bass soon - again around 4 lbs. In the process of the excitement of the double hookup (I netted dads bass) I am without a net now. It just disappeared over the side - never saw or heard it go! All three of their good bass were caught on a ledge - about 10 to 15 feet deep. We wound up with 25 tournament keepers and a limit just shy of 18 lbs. Nice trip! I also did night trips Fri and Sat night (one client each trip) and the results wern't nearly as good. Big fish was only 4 1/2 lbs and we caught about 7 bass each night. Friday night found NO escape from the wind - even in Jago Bay and Sat night wasn't much better. Green pumpkin worms and jigs were the best baits before dark and junebug worms after - also caught a few on 10" black Power worms. I was really surprised at how slow it was after a good night trip Tues night (previous report). There were plenty of bass bites (not bluegill) but just wouldn't inhale the bait.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: So, I know some of you that are interested in my carp activity/bass bite theory for night fishing at Clear Lake - want to know the story. Well, here it is. Three carp rolled on Fri night and ZERO on Sat night. I would say that my carp theory is still water-tight! Lots of carp activity - lots of bass activity. Little or no carp activity (rolling around) - little bass activity. By the way, the carp were quite active yesterday morning and through the day. Hmmmmmm. Dark colors like green, black grape, red shad, and black are working in my boat - day or night. Bass are beginning to move offshore, though it should be a slow migration since the water is so high. There is still a lot of good shallow cover. If you like it - fish it. There may still be some big fish shallow. The night bite should be more consistant after the 4th of July. Good luck!!

Report: As many of you know, I organized some benefit tournies this spring for a scholarship fund set up by the family of Jason Fisher. Even with a small turnout we managed to raise over $1000.00. Late last week a lady from the Chico Bass Club called me and wanted my address so they could make a donation. It arrived today. I want to express my deepest thanks, and the gratitude of the Fisher family to Chico Bass Club. If I even know anyone in that club, I'm not aware of who it might be. Your generous gesture was even more significant in light of recent events here at Trinity. You have renewed my faith in what the sport of bass fishing should be all about. Thank you!!!
