Camp Far West Lake

Water Temp: 49-57
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: With all that rain water coming in the water is realy muddey. Quency and I fished the 1/4 mile cove area first finding two nice smallies with a white spinner bait. Then moving to rock creek using brown/purple JK Jigs with a # 180 crub finding 12-15 1-3 lbs spots and smallies right on the banks within 2-5 ft. This weather ever breaks the fishing will be great. For now be sure to use a strong sent and work slow. Crankin works also.
City: rocklinTips: Dark colors in muddie waters and maybe with a rattle, rattle traps, spinners and jigs

Caught 2 keepers, but later on that evening, the bass were every where. Fished Red Bud (Lower Lake). Ended up catching 20 bass! The biggest was 8-9 pounds. It was a lovely day!

Diamond Valley Lake
-
Water Temp: 59 - 65
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Tough bite. Two weeks ago the bite was killer. LAst week was a little slower but still easy 30 fish days. Then this week it slowed down big time. We caught 12 - 15 fish each day. Lots of smaller fish this weekend. Texas Rig 7 inch Roboworm Oxblood in 5 - 15 feet. Some bigger fish on the bank but hard to catch. Next weeks full moon should really help things. Good luck!
City: FullertonTips: Fish SLOW!!!!!! The bite is very, very subtle.

Eastman Lake

Water Temp: 53 to 55
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Today all are fishing were in shallow water and black & blue jigs in 1/4 & 3/8 oz with are trailer (179) smoked double tail w/ black & blue flake grub ( yamamoto ) are bass were in 8 to 14 feet of water and most were tight to brush piles and around the base of rock piles. We had 14 bass in 6 hours to 4 pounds. Not many angler trying because of water clarity dont be fooled by the color because the bass are still there you just have to change up to darker colors. Brown & purple or junebug are still good colors now and you dont have to get there a day break. The senko bite is also good peg the nose with nail weight & hook wacky worm. Think shallow these fish are there and well bite with some patience. Traffic is light on the week days. The 5mph area is a very good area to fish now with the water leval high lots of brush piles under water now and long flat points are holding really nice bass.
City: kerman ca.Tips: SLOW DOWN NOW AS WATER IS STAINED MORE SO NOW AFTER THESE LAST FEW STORMS. BLACK & BLUE, JUNEBUG, BROWN & PURPLE ARE ALL WORKING RIGHT NOW. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS E MAIL ME AT markinman50@aol.com

Folsom Lake

Water Temp: 52
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: A few fish caught in main lake body, but good size. Threw soft plastics shallow on rip-rap near dam. Penisula trees were muddy and unproductive. Water a little warmer there though. Got one smallie on broken rock bank on So. Fork on plastic crawdad. Water was colder than expected. Should go nuts when the sun comes out for a week---maybe in August? HA! Was still posted 5 mph on Sunday, but gate attendent said no one is observing it. I saw no debris, and no skiiers and only one water flea that of course had to come buzz me. What's with them???

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Larry has been fishing this lake for god knows how long....He more than knows his stuff. For those in the know this lake does produce! I HAVE BBEN FISHING THIS LAKE FOR 17 YEARS on and off, and have been skunked more times than I would like to admit. It's the days that there"jumping in the boat" that we want every time we visit the lake, but most of us know that is not the case. Paying big bucks and ending up with no fish hurts!!! Larrys knowledge and experience is well worth the price. You could go to this lake 10 times, pay all of the fees and gas, and still not get one tenth of the knowledge you need. Those 10 trips will cost more than hiring Larry for one trip. It it expensive-yes, but well worth the investment, IF you want to get more out of your future trips. I some times question "other guys reports" but Larry reports the truth- not like some others. ItS HARD TO BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ ON THESE BOARDS-BUT YOU CAN BELIEVE LARRY!

Berryessa Lake

Water Temp: 52-54
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished the Reapers tourney on Saturday and we stuck to the main lake areas on the north end. Bite was slower than Friday but we still managed to get a large enough sack for 4th place (17.3 lbs for 7 fish). Crank'n and rippin accounted for our better fish up to 4 lbs. Also tossed Robo Worms and huls jigs around points for a good bite. Dark colors again with the plastics. The blade bite was off today. Landed a 3+ smallie on the last cast of the day on a Robo worm to help the cause. Great day, great tourney...
City: Rohnert ParkTips: Dark colors again with the plastics. Shad patterns for crankbaits. Work the points around the spawning areas. Stick to the outside edges and just inside the coves for a more constant bite. Don't waste your time in the back water areas until the water warms up closer to 60.

Cachuma Lake

Water Temp: 56
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: I fished Saturday and stayed in the lower portion of the lake from opening until 11:00. I did poorly from Santa Cruz to the Narrows. I dumped 3 flip fish "largemouth" trying to get them out of the jungle and into my hand. Other than those fish nothing seemed to get me so much as a nibble whether on shallow flats/points/dropoffs/deep it just didn't seem to matter. At 11:00 I went up to clearer water and had a limit of smallmouth in no time and a 5 and a half pounder on a Huddelston swimbait. I went in and had lunch and later picked apart the smallmouth in the clearwater and BOATED two flip fish from clearer debrie fields towards the backs of the coves and called it a day while still whacking the smallmouth.
City: Santa BarbaraTips: If you use a rip bait in the clear water you will catch fish just nothing that will win you any acolades or awards. It was just fun fishing with just enough challange to make it interesting and the thrill only a smallmouth can add to a battle. If you are thinking big largemouth think deep or super shallow. The smallmouth appeared to be in the beginings of the bays but not the backs. Rather on the small points infront of the smalish coves and wall indentations along the entrances to the bays. The farther I went into an arm ripp'n the less success I had. I caught fish on three colors of jigs so I guess color doesn't matter! This coming storm SHOULD put the fish off one more time. Yes, some fish are in the early stages of spawning but the are rare and are likely smallmouth with these water temperatures and influxs and releases of water all of which just makes for grumpy fishing!

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished from 6:40 till about one lake opens at 7 now. Caught a limit of smallmouth 1-3 pounds. Most on a shallow running crankbait on the North Western side of the lake. Was a nice day today and the fihing seems to getting alot better so i am excited for the up coming weeks when the bite will start to ge hot. Didnt catch one large mouth maybe they are still deep but the small mouth bite was good. also caught a 2 pound trout in six feet of water on a shallow jerk bait thought that was wierd but fishing seems to look promiseing for the up coming weeks if there isnt another huge cold front.
City: Santa MariaTips: Crankbaits and also caught a bass with two crawfish in his mouth if that tells you anything lol

Water Temp: Boat in shop
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Fished from 8:30 to 2:00 on Saturday off of the bank fishing everything from points to tulies, I tossed senkos, jigs, brush hogs & worms all in dif colors. I saw a guy in a float tube catch a 1/2 lber, 5 min later I saw a guy in a bass boat catch a 1/2 lber, I started complaining that I could not catch a fish for the life of me, I stated that I fished a month ago in the rain all day and did not get a bump and today 3 hrs and nothing, he said that's just the way it is sometimes and I agreed, just about that time I tossed out a little bit to the right of where most of my casts on that point were and all the sudden I felt some pulling and I set the hook and landed a 4.6lber. I told the guy in the bass boat that the fish is about 4 to 4 1/2 lbs, he said I have a digital scale so I said bring it over and it was 4.6, I am good with weight. I caught her with a 4 in magic worm green weenie on a carolina rig. People caught fish on brush hogs, worms and spinner baits from 1 foot to 10 feet of water, my fish was in 8-10 feet, I talked to a guy that caught a 4.8 on a spinnerbait 2 feet off shore in front of him.
City: San JoseTips: Never give up!! I tried fast, slow, slower, and dead stick, I started casting a counting to 100 before moving, nother worked. The fish I caught hit it when it hit the bottom. I am going back Tuesday, its about to bust open. To the cool guy I spoke to who caught the 4.8 on spinner bait, I will be there 4/11 5 pm, see ya.

Water Temp: 50-56
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Fished Redbud arm in the AM 50 degree water and loaded the boat with 20+ fish best 5 14.00lbs. Went looking for the kicker fish and could not get the big bite going. Found 56 degree water around konocti in a great spawn flat but no spawn fish *shrugs*
City: AntelopeTips: Lots of fish stacked up in prespawn patterns, ledges and breaklines in 20-30ft. You can find a small area that has 100 fish in it, but seem to be all cookie cutters.
-
Water Temp: 51-52
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished from 9:30 - 4:00 today starting at mid-lake and working my way down into Konocti Bay. I did nothing for the first two hours. Tried just about everything drop shot, spinnerbait, LVR, jigs...etc..etc unfortunately no takers. Finally took my first fish in about 20' of water just past Konocti resort on a Staysee 90 in the ghost minnow pattern. The Staysee was the ticket, from then on it was non-stop action for the next few hours. Nothing huge, but I did scratch out 15 or so fish with the largest 5 going just over 14. Beautiful day on the lake the bite was best right after lunch until the sun came out in the mid-afternoon.
Tips: When you find a fish or two work the area over real, real well. The fish today were bunched up very tight today and I'd typically catch one then several more working the same area very slowly.

Folsom Lake

Water Temp: 48-54
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: The lake was still a 5 mph, but most of the boaters were not. Fished in the main body in 15-20 ft finding some small spots and smallies. We then move to shallow water in 5-10 ft find our bigger fish 2-4 lbs. Quency , Dennie and I were crankin , jigin and split shot, the bits were soft and very light. Cranking in weeds with rocks. They should pull the 5 mph limit, the lake clean.
City: rocklinTips: Fish slow, shallow look for flats. the fish are moving up for food not bedding yet.
