Overall a great in the mprning till 9 after that got really slow
City: OakviewTips: ANybody have any spots for dropshotting? THe morning bite is hot - Let me know if anyone had any luck on swimbaits -

Water Temp: ?
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: FYI only: I met a guy who claims he caught the lake record this week. I have to say I was a bit skeptical, then he pulls out some photos. My jaw dropped! The biggest bass I've ever seen. 16 1/2 lbs. He is having it documented and you can see pictures of it at Fisherman's warehouse. Does anyone know for sure what the existing Coyote Reservoir record is? Just curious.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished Coyote on 10/23, 8 AM to 1 PM. Float tube, western shore. Slow! A 1 pounder and a 2 pounder off of texas-rigged worm and jig/brush hawg, respectively. Mixed reports from bass boats I encountered. One guy said he caught 25-30 fish, with top 3 combined going 12+ pounds, off of a Hula Grub on a jig head. Bastard. He caught them on the weed line. No luck for me on the weed line, except for the 1 pounder. The 2 pounder came off of a lake point w/ lots of rocks.
City: Belmont, CATips: Hey, hit that weed line and if that doesn't work, some fatties will probably be hanging on main lake points hunting crawdads.

Diamond Valley Lake

Water Temp: 68-69
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Had an O.K. Day, 2 four pound swimbait fish first thing in the morning fishing proto type bait from Japan.Cloud cover helped with that.
When the sun cam up went to split shotting points and the Eastern dam with 6" Weenie Bass AA worms for 6 more fish between 2-5.5 pounds.
City: FontanaTips: Fish slow in 20-30 feet of water for the bigger bites.

Folsom Lake

Water Temp: 66-69
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished the Galaxy Customer Appreciation tournament and had a great time. Great job by NBW, their organization hosted and put on a great tournament.
Found fish in prefish in the 30-40 ft. chasing bait, but the difference for us was the appearance of SHAD and not so many smelt. In prefish, there were shad in all of the areas that produced our bigger fish. Dropshot, darthead & spoons worked pretty consistantly.
Tournament day started off with no great surprises as I haven't caught a reaction fish in weeks, so it didn't surprise me. Dropshot one real early then decided to move off to the main body to fish ledges and ridges on the submerged islands. Dropshotted our llimit in the next hour and moved around to find bigger fish. Dropshotted a spot close to 3# off of a rockpile near the dam in 43 ft., but could duplicate it for remainder of the day. Weighed in 8.99# for around 15th or place.
City: RosevilleTips: Stay deep on ledges & ridges. A cold wet storm is needed to turn the lake over as the thermocline is still down around 45-55 ft. Until then, get some experience in deep water fishing and practise popping fish, we all need it.

Shadow Cliffs Lake

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: fished from the bank again, couldn't locate too many fish, only found a couple small keepers near the front of the creek
City: P-TOWNTips: mentos, I've been coming here for years.I rarely fish anything but senko's and yamamoto type baits. I never drop-shot(mostly because I suck at it) and you can't hardly throw lures back there anymore because it's so freakin weedy. I'm not fishing for dinks and I have seen huge bass back there, if you know where to look.

California Delta
-
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Spent another rocking day on the delta. Caught many fish up to about 3.5 lbs cranking the rocks and spinning blades over the tops of weeds. As the day progressed I decided to slow down and work some plastics. This was the first time that I tried drop shotting little beavers on the edge of the weedlines. Okay, that won me over and proved to be very productive. While "big Momma" didn't show up, the numbers and quality of the fish was outstanding.
City: Walnut CreekTips: Search for classic ambush spots in current.
There is a new Club in the area, Devil Mountain Bassmasters. We are looking for both boaters and non boaters and meet at the Copper Skillet in Walnut Creek the first Tuesday of the month. If you would like more information, give me a call at 925-639-7724

Piru Lake

Water Temp: 67+-
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fish on main lake points and walls, suspended over 25'. The lake has been dropped 30+- for irrigation, but they've stopped dropping it for a while.
City: los angelesTips: Look for weeds. Better fish are out on the main lake. Fish over the weeds. Cranks, blades down 12+-. Jigs, hula grubs. Tons of dinks in the flooded brush. Great for kids throwing blades.

Shadow Cliffs Lake
-
Water Temp: Unknown
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Tubed both the Island Pond and Arroyo.
Fished the Island Pond from about 830 to 1100. Threw top water (popper and Zara Spook) but didn't get anything which was unusual based on previous experience. Switched to a drop shot with 4 inch Robo after about 1.5 hours and hit the shoreline looking for cover (underwater trees, etc.). Caught two dinks. I have no idea where fish are caught in this pond.
Went to Arroyo around noon. Drop shot the weed walls as usual and got a bunch of bites. Caught two but still nothing too big. Buddy of mine caught a nice 3 lber though.
How bASSHOLE cathes the 5+ lbers using senkos is beyond me. I've never had much success throwing senkos in this pond but I might have to try it again.

Berryessa Lake
-
Water Temp: 68 degrees
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Air temp at launch was 48 degrees, no wind and blue bird skys. Headed South and starting fishing main body points with cranks, stickbaits, spinnerbaits, sweet beavers, and senko's all with no fish. Got one fish to follow my crank but no hook ups. Started drop shotting and landed 15 fish but only one of them over two lbs. I was told that this lake will turn on soon. This was my first trip to Berryessa out of Sacmento and it took over 2 hours to reach it. Any advice on short cut would be greatlt appreciated.
City: El Dorado hillsTips: Find bait and drop shot into it..........

Folsom Lake
-
Water Temp: 69
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I showed Folsom Lake to a father and 11 year old "birthday boy" today. The boy's first fishing trip! Even though the fishing was generally tough, he learned to cast like a pro and stuck 4 bass on his own, landing 2 and losing 2. One was a 14 inch spot. He lost one maybe bigger. Dad caught a few spots also. I mostly helped the boy but did fish some. A 3 to 3 1/2 lb smallie broke my heart about 5:30 pm in the south fork as she cleared the water by about a foot and shook off my 4 inch purple ghost worm. What a fish!! We used a split-shot rig most of the time but did catch a few drop-shotting shad colored Yamamoto Kreature baits. I tried some topwater before dark - no takers.
City: Yuba CityTips: Most lakes could really use a good storm to get the fall bite going - or at least some real cloudy days. That may happen this week! We saw lots of bait balls but not too many bass near them. Strange. The bite did pick up the last hour as shadows formed. We fished the main body for most of the trip and some in the south fork.

Sonoma Lake

Water Temp: ?
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fishin was decent. Trolled and hooked a couple of nice steelhead. Unfortunately, if you know the rules you can't keep em. Their wild in this lake. 3 keeper bass about the 3lbs. range. One really nice one. slow at times, but when one caught a fish the others were slowly behind.
City: Santa RosaTips: Rappala, Rappala, Rappala, - we tried different things at first including live minnows. nothing worked like a j-7 or j-11 Rappala, broken back. The fingers north offer nice relaxing fishing.
