Report: Fished with my buddy william. 3rd cast nailed a 4 1/2 pound bb topwater. Next spot will hooks into a 15 lb king salmon. After 20 minutes of cool jumps his 8 lb p-line tires it out to net time.Cranked and ripped about 20 bb and also had a couple of 5lb strippers. A cool day on the delta.
      City: orangevale

Tips: As always fish moving water. William loves to rip in the fall and I see why. I did my thing with spooks and prop baits. Had decent top water all day. We wormed fish when we got tired of cranking. Watermellon worms and brush hogs.

      Water Temp: 68

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: The water temperature has dropped to 68 degrees. Balls of bait are all over the lake and the fish are gorging on them. I watched some bass, about twenty of them, herd the bait into a ball team work style and then proceed to devour them. Fishing was good this past weekend except for Sunday because of high winds and rough water. As we trolled for bass we caught some trout on the surface. Friday was an excellent day we hit fish all day long everywhere we ventured to. The boat traffic has settled down to a minimum and the lake belongs to the fisherman again. 'til next week...................good fishing!!!!! www.fishingconnection.net

Other fishers near bye experienced the same luck.

Report: Pre-fished a few days over the last week for the Hook tournament....which Gene appropriately called off due to high winds..better safe than sorry... Anyways, topwater had been kicking out some decent fish lately(south and central), a big black buzzer was getting several 3's a day along w a 4+ and a 5. Not a fast paced bite but consistant all day long. Mon I intended to focus on cranks but conditions weren't in my favor, it was flat calm, w/clear sky and the tide only moved about a foot in either direction. About noon I decided to run North and flip around some areas well known for big dogs but I rarely fish. Pitched my senko up to and isolated tule clump, tap, set and oooh what a pull. I quickly checked my drag thinking it must be loose, nope she's just pulling hard. Turned out to be a beautifull 10lb 10z toad. Lukily a DFG warden drove up on the levee just as I boated her and offered to take a few pic's since I was by myself.

Report: Fished from 6:45 - 11:00. Started by the dam with a ripbait. Had a nice one come unbuttoned at the boat on my second cast. Ended up with 2 decent fish on the ripbait and another on a small crankbait. When the sun hit the water I switched to a dropshot along the wall by the dam. Ended up with about a dozen on the dropshot. Nothing huge with the largest just undedr 3lbs.
      City: San Jose

Tips: Fish are shallow early but move to about 20-25ft once the sun comes up. Try any of your favorite fall baits.

Report: Kinda tough on Saturday. Caught ten on black jigs. All 12 inchers except a 2 & 3 pounder. Spoke to other bassers and they were working pretty hard for them, too.
      City: san jose

Tips: Jigs and drop-shot. Try deep water. I stayed within 3-12 feet of water. Will work deeper water next week and let y'all know how it does.

      Water Temp: 70

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Lake is putting out good limits of spots and large mouth. Lighter line getting more bites. 6 lb the most productive. Split shot brush hogs 10 to 30 feet. Find the bait depth and work the same depth. Afternoons they go deeper. Drop shot island humps that you can see fish on depth finder.
      City: orangevale

Tips: Work everything slow. We fished sat right after the front friday nite. Wecaught about 15 fish most around 12 inches. Light line helps. Use your electronics to fish best areas. Beware carp are everywhere. I was using my aqua view on some spots I thought had bass and they were carp.If you don't get bit on a spot in 5 minutes leave.

Report: On the water by 0630 - alot of other boats putting in - still no trout stocking - so we headed down to the airstrip end and started casting Popn-R's and shallow cranks - Had our first fish at 715 - small dink. Came around a small point inside the cove - throwing a Popn-R and missed a nice fish - maybe 3lbs - Fished the whole end - only two keepers - 2.3lb and 1.4lb - caught a bunch of dinks. By 10 we headed to the main island near the damn side. Caught a few more dinks throwing cranks - the wind came up around 11 - 20mph - By 2 it was really hot and not much action - fished the two island down by the damn - nothing - Fished the day back where we started - GOt there about 4 - the fishing got hot - We land 4 fish for 8lbs in about 20 minutes. My buddy caught a nice 4lb on shallow crank. THe fish were busting on top and anything we threw they hit. By six they were hitting on top everywhere - We ended up with 30 fish only 7 keepers -
      City: Oakview

Tips: THe morning bit til 9 is good and the afternoon bite after 4 is hot - shallow cranks, spinnerbaits, and topwater all produce.

Report: We (Mendo Bassers) had our yearly 2 day tourney scheduled out of State Park this weekend but a terrible accident on Saturday resulted in our cancelling the tournament. We lost a good friend Saturday afternoon, Burt Studdert, to a boating accident on an ocean-like Clearlake. He was 76 years old. The 18 foot Glastron he was fishing out of capsized in extremely rough water and Burt did not survive the ordeal. Contrary to rumor already circulating, he WAS wearing his lifejacket according to tournament regulations. Burt was a great fisherman and an even better person as anyone who has spent even 5 minutes around him can testify to. We will miss him dearly. I want to remind everyone who fishes on this lake that the conditions can change by the minute. I was fishing the tournament with my 12 year old son and after a typically rough morning down south, we decided around 10:30 am to make the run to Lakeport to fish calmer water. After receiving the call to have everyone come in around 1:00 pm, I realized we might be in trouble ourselves. While it was pretty calm in Lakeport, it didn't take much running to get right into the middle of what can only be described as "scary water." We fought 5-6 foot waves at little more than idle speed and after "punching" several waves, we felt very lucky to make it back to the ramp. It was the first time ever that I was actually scared to be in my boat. Many of our members reported having waves break into their boat that day while one longtime member who has fished many years on Clearlake stated it was possibly the roughest day he has ever seen there to date. I myself have spent days on this lake running full speed without my lifejacket on but that will never happen again. For those of you who knew Bert and even those who didn't, please remember him and his family in your prayers sometime soon. We will miss him. God Bless
      City: Ukiah

Tips: Keep an eye on ever changing conditions and always wear your lifejacket when running on Clearlake.
