Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Thanks for the info on the dropshot! Had so much fun last week, that I headed up on Thurs. Launched from Lake County Park at 0715 and headed south towards the state park. Fished Kelsey and Cole creek inlets. Fished 4" oxblood worms, watermelon colored creature baits, pumkin seed senkos, and purple cut tails, all texas rigged with 1/16th oz weight. Also fished the area around the state park beach. Threw a rattle trap in for about 10 mins, and brought in about 4 little guys. Called it a day at about noon. Brought in 20, my partner brought in 10. Best five between the two of us went 23 pounds. Big fish landed on a rockwall at 1100 on pumkin seed creature bait, 6.5#. Great fight on 6lb test!
City: San RafaelTips: Somewhat new to bass fishing, but I cant praise fishing texas rigged worms enough in darker colors right now. Personally, they are very economical, since college textbooks are a mob racket!

Water Temp: 70
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Fished Coyote Monday started 6:30am on the west side where the only tree that sticks out of the water is, fishing with bait casting rod and reel, strike King crankbait8 foot diver in red, I was cranken on the bottom, i hooked into a 10lb.6oz.bass, biggest i have ever caught.
Other than that i only caught 2 dinkers.
City: MontereyTips: Remember summer time is big bass time ,so use big baits, mainly crankbaits and big jerk baits.
Try the Rapala X-RAPS, i ALSO CAUGHT A 11LB.BASS AT San Justo on a blue and pink X-RAP.

Water Temp: 81-85
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: With gas prices keeping me close to home, I ventured out just to wet a line with Oroville on my mind. Sunrise found me running north to the head waters and hopefully some fish. Only one buzzbait fish for the trip up there, but I saw some submarines swimming around up there. All very fat from all of the trout they're eating and a few from the fact that they haven't spawned yet. These fish haven't a clue and because of all of the food up there, they haven't left the 55 degree water. Wouldn't eat anything i had to give them though, so I left for the main body and the hump that held fish during the police & fire games. The hump is now an isalnd, but the fish were still out in 25 ft. just where they were 2 weeks ago. Dartheaded a couple with the biggest going around 2.60 lbs. Moved over to Granite and dropshotted a little keeper that spit up a 4" baby Bass on the way up. Partially digested with only a small patch of skin left so I could make out the markings.Off by about 1 PM when all of the lake maggots and their "rape" music started to show up.
City: RosevilleTips: Fish can still be had on 4.5" or 6" plastics in shad patterns either dropshot or dartheaed. Find rocky areas that are isolated with a little wood with 15-30 ft. of water around and you have a great Folsom summer pattern for lots of fish.

Report: Just wanted to share how our club weighs fish in a club tourney. We have a set of scales given out to each team at checkin. As fish are caught they are verified and recorded on a form by a partner. The fish are then released right where they were caught.

Report: Went out on the 10th from about 8:30am to 4pm. David and I started at the boat ramp and fished our way to the back cove. Nothing at the boat ramp or island. I caught one dink on a Junebug Super Hog at Channel point. Tried frogs, jigs, drop shot near the swim lagoon but still nothing. David caught a little keeper and a dink on a drop shot at the back dock. I caught dink on a black/brown/watermelon red jig on the point before the cove. I then switched to a brown jig with w purple doulbe tail grub and caught a 3-14. We went the the other point on the opposite side of the cove and I caught a 4-1 on the same jig. We didn't catch a lot of fish, but I did get a couple nice ones. That was it for the day.
City: AntiochTips: Jigs and drop shot.

Water Temp: 80+
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Got out for a few hrs this AM and did ok. It was slower than recent trips but the fish were bigger. One smallie over 3 and a 4.5 Lm made the trip worthwhile. More important than what I did is what I found out. The evening topwater bite is finally on in a big way. A good friend of mine was out a few evenings ago, and picked up a 5 fish smallie limit that weighed well in excess of 22 lbs. A 6-4 led the way, with 2 other fish over 5 lbs. I've heard of some real good LM taken on buzzbaits this time of year, but I've never heard of smallies like this hitting topwaters this time of year. Way to go Leroy. These fish were caught during a 1 1/2 hour period just before dark. For the next couple of weeks if anybody wants to call me it better be before 5 PM. I'll be in my office and unavailable after that. I'll keep you posted.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished white slough on monday and tuesday.monday was a better day. Caught almost 30 fish from little dinks to the largest at 4lbs. Had a good topwater bite before the sun rose on a double prop bait. Then used senkos and crank the rest of the day. Tuesday was slow but picked up as the tide changed, also there was a steady breeze the whole day. Caught only 17 fish but caught a few just over 3.5lbs on spinnerbait. Stripers are active and boiling at anytime in the day. Not many keepers are around yet but did have some fun catching the smaller 2lb stripers on spinners and missed a couple of the larger fish because they did not hit until they were 5 feet from the boat.
City: stocktonTips: Used mainly crank and spinner for most of the day. Red craw or a shad color crank, chrt/wht spinner. Senko produced some fish but most fish were a little out from tules in the weedflats but still near tules. Also caught some along levee but were usually smaller fish.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Hey Justin. The water level is higher than it was when I last saw you there the day after the pro teen. But its still not all the way up to the normal level. There is some more weed growth it seems. As far as action goes, just read my last couple of reports because those were the last times i have been out there. Some people are catchin them drop shotting in the back cove area as well. I'll most likely fish there this week and will post a report.

Shadow Cliffs Lake

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Hey Rexx, I agree with that top water should be early in the morning, and dropshot should be later in the day. I found out in Island pond is different, I have tried top water in the early morning, I didn't have much success. Everytime when the dragon flies are out in the water, the bass are start chasing them, and that's the time i start to catch them on top water. The bass move to shallow to catch dragonflies, so they will pay more attention to what's on the top. I use top water early in the morning everywhere, but i just found shadow is different. Dropshot should work good in the shadowcliff anytime.
Good luck fishing
City: FremontTips: catch and release. Good to share knowledge with others.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Hey Tim, thanks for the report. I tend to agree that Shadow Cliffs seems slow in the afternoon/evening. Maybe morning is best now. I noticed you went drop shot early, then topwater when the sun came up. It seems to have worked. Back in the midwest, where I'm from, people tried to do the opposite. Topwater is best at sunrise and sunset when they feed in the shallows. Hot sun would drive them deep and drop shot would be the best choice. It it different in west coast waters?

Water Temp: 85
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Went for bass but ended up with about 50 american shad between 1 1/2 to 2 lbs. HA HA. Was alot of fun. Boated one striper 6 lbs, had two over ten pounds get off after 5 minute fight. Caught a few small spots also.
City: FresnoTips: Stripers and shad at the logjam. Stripers on big spoon, shad on darter head with any 3 inch plastic. Bass, hmm dropshotted those.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished Island pond on saturday morning, and sunday afternoon. Saturday early morning about 7am to 9am, i caught alot small ones on dropshot. After 9am switched to top water, i used frogs and sammy. I got 2 3lb on frog and sammy, and one 5lb on sammy. The fish stopped biting about 11. Sunday afternoon is terrible, I went out about 4pm, I didn't get a bite at all, I left at about 7pm. I think its better to catch fish in the morning.
Good luck fishing

Calero Reservoir
-
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: I go to Calero almost everyday and fish right off the first dam towards the right side. There are some submerged weeds that you can see, so fish just left of them to to avoid getting snagged (unless your fishing a weedless senko or something). The senkos catch more fish during the winter than summer in this spot. I was using a senko but realized that the baitfish were very active, so switched to a chartruse spinnerbait with silver blades. I cast pretty far into the water and used a steady retrive and caught two 3 pound fish within 5 minutes of each other.
City: San JoseTips: I fish off the shore and stand on the dam for hours at a time. Be aware that standing on that dam can hurt your back due to the angle at which youre standing. Dropping a phone or keys or whatever you may have will result in that item sliding down the dam and into the water. Keep your precious items somewhere safe so they dont end up swimming!
P.s. If any boaters need a backseat partner for a day of fishing, please email me! would love to join!
