Contra Loma Lake

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Bad day. started at boat dock. used, buzz, senkos, sweet beavers, nothing but a dink. went along shore worked the spots that didnt have people. one rod kept on getting knots so that was a time taker. eventually got to beginning of north shore to find that over half the lake was closed from shore. fire danger. that stunk because i wanted to try the shore and dock. then all the better spots were filled with bait fishermen so we decided to call it a day.
City: OAkleyTips: nothing to say, terrible day.

Del Valle Lake

Water Temp: ?
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Took my two boys out in a rental since my boat is in the shop. First thing in the morning nailed a 2# on a chartruse/silver popper, I swooshed it twice and then had to untangle my 5 year olds worm and then swooshed the popper twice more and WAMM. Nearly scared the hell out of me(not expecting it). Changed over the whole family to drop shotting purple robo worms and landed 4 more small mouth 1-2#. off the water by 11:00 am (I think every one was glad, cause all the noise we were making).
City: san ramonTips: Bring one child at a time if you are by yourself

Don Pedro Lake

Water Temp: 74-86F
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Night fished Saturday night through Sunday morning. Before dark, some blade fish in Upper Bay at 10' slow rolling 3/4 oz clear sparkle single willow through mud lines. Just before dark, caught a 10 pound catfish on a senko. Bass took drop-shotted Sheehy's 6" Killer Worms and green weenies. The bass went for drop-shot and splitshot most of the night. Lots of fish from 12" to 2 pounds. No topwater fish taken. Nothing on 7" or 10" Power Worms or lizards.
City: Santa RosaTips: Find the shad, find the thermocline and fish slow.
Better bite with the moon.

Indian Valley Lake
-
Water Temp: warm
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Went trolling with a buddy and caught our limit by 2pm. 7 kok & 3 trout. Started @ 6am. Lost about 7 other fish. Trolled around dam area in about 120 feet of water. Fish were at 40 feet in the morning and dropped to 50 feet once the sun came up. Very Hot. These were a nice grade of fish 2-3 lbs.
City: middletownTips: Troll as slow as possible. Fished with flasheres & dodgers 6 foot leader and a lure. Used down riggers. Lots of snaggs closer to shore. Use a snubber and light tip action rod & keep drag set moderately. Get there early, and bring sun screen, catch fish then get off lake. To hot from 10-2 but we toughed it out and caught limit.

Amador Lake
-
Water Temp: 80-82
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Another trip to Amador (perhaps the last one till fall) for myself and my buddy from school. On the water at around 5PM. Tried fishing the point across the blue docks for nothing - hits and misses on a Rat-L-Trap, and losing one fish on a drop shot. Moved over to the North Side of the lake back to my usual stomping grounds: Points along the spillway. Fish were holding in about 15-20 feet of water off the drop-off next to the spillway. Buddy hits one nice fish on a 6" Robo Worm in purple, 3lbs. Moving off closer to Mountain Springs, fished an exposed point, I hit a nice fish at 3lbs on a Pumpkin Baby Brush hog in about 30ft of water. Fish were randomly popping Shad at the surface, was able to hook and lose a small dink, less than a lb on the Rat-L-Trap. Moving off to the left point of Jackson Creek found more fish busting shad, losing another two on the Rat-L-Trap. Buddy hits another fish, dink on the Robo Worm. After sundown, fished at the anchor for cats - nothing. 9:00 moved off back to the points and spillway. Using my trusty black flippin tube, got a few hits and misses; buddy getting two dinks again on the Robo. Finally get a good hit on the tube, set the hook on a nice kicker about 5lbs. Moved off towards the dam, both of us getting hits and bumps. Finally headed back to the ramp. A group of guys were at the ramp for a weigh in - they were from Motherlode. There was no way we were going to be able to pull out so we headed back to the North Side of the lake where I was able to pull one more fish on a Watermelon/Red Flake Senko. Off the water @ about 12:45, home in Sac at 1:30.
City: SacramentoTips: Fish were not holding directly on the points like they have been, but off to the sides of points in about 20-30 feet of water, then shallower by night fall. Last fish was caught in less than 5 feet of water right off the bank. Use lots of smelly jelly.

City: CarmichaelTips: IT SEEMS THAT ANYTHING WE TRIED WORKED WELL. ALL FISH WERE FULL OF MINNOWS AND SPITTING THEM OUT WHEN IN THE BOAT. LARGEST FISH 7+ GOOD LUCK...BEST AUGUST FISHING THAT I CAN REMEMBER....
-
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: fished the 12th thru 14 off my little kayak. (cant afford a boat yet)
started fishing at about 7 each day. because of my limited range I fished the rock wall in soda bay just south of state park. fished top water till about 10 am lots of swirls behind my popper but only 4 takers. Then i switched to a texas rigged sweet beaver infection color and started killin them i averaged about 10 fish a day probably would have caught more but i was off the water by 12 the heat got to be too much to paddle in. average fish about 2-3#
City: PacificaTips: any lure in red bright greens and browns worked for me. also fished a crawdad colored crank and did really well! <*){{{}}}>< GO GET EM THE BITES HOT

Folsom Lake
-
Water Temp: 80-82
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: With all the boaters out for a saturday the water was a little muddy. The first day we've had a cool day in months. I had some work on my boat trailer to do , so Ryan and I put the boat in, fixed the trailer and then off fishing @ 5:30pm. Got away from the wind and boaters in a cove with trees finding a 2 1/2 largie with a JK brown 1/2 oz jig a # 180 grub. We stayed around the trees for the next hour and then moving into the cove deeper to find o. The wind picked up and the boater headed in so we went into the norrows of the north fork on steep drop offs. Using buzz baits, worms , lizards, crankin and spinners we walked away for that bank with nothing. 8 pm now so we went in.
City: rocklinTips: work deep and slow

Oroville Lake
-
Water Temp: 81
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: A day trip to Oroville in August on a Saturday may not be my cup of tea, but when clients call - I go! Two local fellows wanted to learn a little more about summer fishing, so we started about 6 am and fished 'til 11 am - when the lake got real crazy! I showed them areas to target bigger summer bass, but with all the heat, we could only manage one close to 15" and one about 14 1/2. We did catch about 30 in our short day. We targeted steep dropoffs and ledges for most of our quality bass. I don't want to say much more since they are going to fish an upcoming tournament. We did have lots of action and a lot of fun dodging pleasure boats!!!
City: Yuba CityTips: The lake is dropping now so one should target areas next to deep water. The quality bass will now move off-shore to look for underwater islands, ridges, and ledges. August is the month when spotted bass will return to their deep haunts and can be caught at depths of 50 to 70 feet. Dust off those 1 oz spoons!! Most are in the themocline now, which starts about 40 feet.

Shadow Cliffs Lake
-
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Got the water about 9am this morning. Met a guy there he said he caught 3 already. One 5lb and 2 3lb. I used frog today, caught 2 over 18inch, and 2 about 16 inch. Good frog bite today, most of the bigger fish are in somewhere that's really hard to cast to. I also alot small ones on dropshot. The fish is not jumping around today, because there are not dragonflies, and it was kinda windy.
City: FremontTips: Frogs. I'll be fishing for salmon in feather/american, hope you guys can put more reports so i can get more updates. thanks.

Clear Lake

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Thanks for the info on the dropshot! Had so much fun last week, that I headed up on Thurs. Launched from Lake County Park at 0715 and headed south towards the state park. Fished Kelsey and Cole creek inlets. Fished 4" oxblood worms, watermelon colored creature baits, pumkin seed senkos, and purple cut tails, all texas rigged with 1/16th oz weight. Also fished the area around the state park beach. Threw a rattle trap in for about 10 mins, and brought in about 4 little guys. Called it a day at about noon. Brought in 20, my partner brought in 10. Best five between the two of us went 23 pounds. Big fish landed on a rockwall at 1100 on pumkin seed creature bait, 6.5#. Great fight on 6lb test!
City: San RafaelTips: Somewhat new to bass fishing, but I cant praise fishing texas rigged worms enough in darker colors right now. Personally, they are very economical, since college textbooks are a mob racket!

Other than that i only caught 2 dinkers.

Folsom Lake
-
Water Temp: 81-85
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: With gas prices keeping me close to home, I ventured out just to wet a line with Oroville on my mind. Sunrise found me running north to the head waters and hopefully some fish. Only one buzzbait fish for the trip up there, but I saw some submarines swimming around up there. All very fat from all of the trout they're eating and a few from the fact that they haven't spawned yet. These fish haven't a clue and because of all of the food up there, they haven't left the 55 degree water. Wouldn't eat anything i had to give them though, so I left for the main body and the hump that held fish during the police & fire games. The hump is now an isalnd, but the fish were still out in 25 ft. just where they were 2 weeks ago. Dartheaded a couple with the biggest going around 2.60 lbs. Moved over to Granite and dropshotted a little keeper that spit up a 4" baby Bass on the way up. Partially digested with only a small patch of skin left so I could make out the markings.Off by about 1 PM when all of the lake maggots and their "rape" music started to show up.
City: RosevilleTips: Fish can still be had on 4.5" or 6" plastics in shad patterns either dropshot or dartheaed. Find rocky areas that are isolated with a little wood with 15-30 ft. of water around and you have a great Folsom summer pattern for lots of fish.
