Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I have tried the different fishing access for shore in the middle back pond. Most of the shore access spots are slow right now, but I found the accesses that's on the opposite side might be still producing some fish. Try dropshot with nightcrawlers. I always have some luck with that. Good luck fishin.

      Water Temp: 52

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I got a late start at about 8:00 a.m. The wind was kicking up white caps on the main arm so I headed south past the marina. I started with 6" purple worms. I missed the first 3 bites! The 4th one I was more patient and landed a bright bass from 25 feet of a verticle tree. Decided to try again and the fish bite, it won by burying itself in a limb. I had to break it off. I switched to a white 5" Yamamoto twin tail grub.
I saw a lot of suspended fish between 10 to 25' and decided to pitch it and just let it sink. I felt pressure and did not sink hook too strong. I reeled it to within a few fish of the boat when the 2lb'er shook off. I got tired of fighting the wind and it was getting too hot so I called it a day after 3 hours.
      City: Windsor

Tips: Start early if you can before sunrise. Most of the fish were betwee 10 to 25 feet. I had no luck with a Senko or crank bait.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Caught 3 fish over 3lbs dropshotting Morning Dawn Robo worms in about 15'-25' of water. 1 other big bass coming on white/char spinnerbait. Bite was a bit slow when the sun got higher and the pleasure crafters hit the water.
      City: Sacramento

Tips: Fish all plastics real slow. I put my rod down to adjust another reel, picked it up and found a nice largemouth at the other end.

Report: My son-in-law and I fished Dissapointment and Whites for 2 days and caught fish everywhere we went, but nothing over Drove around to 3 Lbs. Lots of small fish. We drove around to Big Break on Tuesday and fished some spots that he knew and caught several fish over 3 lbs with biggest going about 5 Lbs. Total weight around 19 lbs. we did not get on a frog bite as we wanted to, but also did not find the mats that we expected. We only make it up there once a year and need more info on current conditions. Hope to see you next year as this is one of the best waterways in the country that I have fished and you guys that live there are so lucky to have the chance to fish it all the time. Good luck and please take care of your great fishing water. God be with you.
      City: Las Vegas Nevada

Tips: As we could not get on the frog bite we where hoping for, we caught most of our fish on plastics
and spinner baits. Flipping was most productive during high tide and working around weed lines produced largest fish we caught. Conservation the key to keep your great fishery.

Report: Smoke, I've certainly considered the fact that I'm not a good bass fisherman. I'm also new in town and don't really know the lakes very well. It's just that I scored a whole bunch of nice bass at Chesbro and Uvas between May and July. Now I can't find them. Where did they go? Deep I guess. I can't get to them, since I don't have a boat. But I'll tell you, as a new guy in town, I talk to everyone I see. I'm very friendly. And nobody else was catching a thing at Chesbro or Shadow Cliffs this weekend. I know Tim the Float Tuber says he did. That's fine. He knows what he's doing. But why would all these people lie to me that they're not catching a thing?

Report: Tim, one other thing. I was shore fishing, and it's hard to get at all of the water from shore. The shoreline is overgrown, and there aren't too many clearings. Maybe they weren't holding near the clearings. I did talk to many frustrated float tubers though. Just a thought.

Report: Tim, glad to hear you had some luck. You were one of the few. I'm not a local, so when I fisha new place, I ask a lot of questions. I've never seen so many fisherman catching so few fish. Obviously, they can be caught by someone who knows what they're doing. But I'm not used to spending hours fishing at catching nothing. And having everyone else say the same thing. I tried all the stuff you suggested.

Report: Well Rex, I went out to shadow cliff on sat and sun. I did pretty good on both days. I fished on the middle back pond, i canght 10+ fish each day on dropshot, topwater sammy, and rattle trap. some of the fish are pretty good size run from 15inch to 20inch. Saturday i fish from 8am to 1pm, sunday i fish from 3pm to 8pm. Try to find calm water, drop shot and taxes rig should do the trick. Try dropshot Roboworms FX 4inch like natural shad.
      good luck fishing

Report: Had read about good bass fishing at Shadow Cliffs in other reports. It sure wasn't happening this weekend. I fished the back ponds for about 6 houre on both Sat. and Sun. Spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, crankbaits, roboworms, dropshot. Nothing was working. I talked to about 20 people during the weekend, including 7 or 8 float tubers. I only ran across one guy who caught a single bass. And I saw that one. It was no more than 12 inches.

What's the deal? Where are all the fish?

Report: Ended up fishing for bass since I didnt have any bait for catfish and when I arrived, and the lodge was closed.

SO, I tied on a senko on one rod, a dug jig on another rod, and a brush bog on a another and headed towards the points and coves by the spillway in my little Sea Eagle Inflatable. Fishing was slow, but I managed 3 bass to 3lbs, all on the Brush Hog. Fish were holding up close to the bank in about 3-4 feet of water right at the weedlines. Few nips on the Senko but nothing buttoned. At about 1:30 AM a bit of a wind kicked up out of the east making bait presentation troublesome so I decided to head back to the ramp.

It seems there was a club tournament on the lake on Saturday as indicated by the 15+ boats that headed back to the ramp at about midnight.
      City: Sacramento, CA

Tips: Cast up close to shore and drag your bait. Use lots of smelly jelly.

Report: Fished the Bass Busters tourney on Saturday with my partner Sego and it turned out really great. Launched out at Hollands ramp at 5:00AM til 6:00pm with a split in the middle of the times. We caught all our big fish around Rock Slough and the Channel but suprisingly, we had no luck at Franks Tract. Anywayz, use buzzbaits in the morning, 6" senkos in the noon, and rattletraps w/ a crawdad pattern along the weededges when the tide gets low. Thats what put us on the map. Goodluck!!!!!!
      City: San Jose

Tips: Like I Said, use buzzbaits in the morning, 6" senkos in the noon, and rattletraps w/ a crawdad pattern along the weededges when the tide gets low.

Report: New to the Delta and drifted around just looking for a pattern of some kind. Fished the outside of Franks place from the inlet channel off of the False River back in a couple of miles. Picked up 17 fish mostly small but four over 4 with the smallest 4.4 and the biggest 5.9 all on a chartreuse spinner bait. Moved out to the inlet going down to the Downrigger and picked up 7 more small fish from about a lb to a 2.4 on the points. Moved off into deeper water about 45 ft and did well with Senkos dropped shotted, got 6 fish with the largest 3.2. Only fished two baits--spinner and senko.
      City: Sunnyvale CA

Tips: Spinner ( chartreuse) and Senkos drop shot rigg.

Report: Small turkey shot by John Lowe of Loomis. This was a two fish limit and in by 1:00. With the wind on the west side of the delta and the tide at high going out Dave Shaw and I started in Franks. Using spooks, frogs around the mats had no luck. Working outside Fanks finding some small bass on Senkos. Moving to the east side of the delta to H & H (little White) finding no winds and some keepers for our tourament. Using a JK Jigs in black/purple with a smoke grub finding a 3.5 lb,2.0 and a lot of 1-1 1/2 lbs. We made our way back to Fishers Cut around a old pier got another 2.0 to add to our limit, culling out one. The winners had 10 lbs for two fish. A good windy but fun with my friends from Basin Bass Masters of Loomis. Thanks John and John for a good day in the Delta.

Report: Tried all my usual spots: cove to the right of the boat launch, left of the boat launch, near the drain pipe. Tried spinnerbaits, crankbaits, dropshot, carolina rigged lizard, jig. Nothing worked. The bass must be deep. I couldn't find them. Any ideas out there?

      Water Temp: 69-75

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Devil Mt Bassmasters held our July tournament at Del Valle. We had 8 anglers. We found an early morning topwater bite on buzzbaits and poppers around the tulies with weeds. As the sun came up, the bite slowed for us as the fish apparently moved deeper. The wind picked up in the afternnon and really made fishing difficult. Most boaters were crowded around the few areas that were out of the wind. We had one limit of 10+ lbs for our group and several other guys came in with 3 fish a piece. We few had a tough time with one fish each. Our average fish weighed in at 2.06 lbs. Four fish over 3 lbs were brought it. A good time was had by all despite the relatively tough conditions. I got a 5 lb catfish on a senko!
      City: San Ramon

Tips: Try top water over and around the weeds early in the day. These fish are surprisingly strong.
