Report: I was a busy guy Sat.late-afternoon and night as I guided a husband-wife team and her father. He didn't have much fishing experience and struggled with his casting, but got much better by the end of the 6 hr trip! I was REALLY worried about the wind because of the cold front, but for once it wasn't bad - just a stiff breeze. We started fishing Dead Ringers about 6:30 pm in weed patchs around the narrows and after an hour it was wife-3, husband and guide-1 each! She was good!! We wound up with 7 before dark - averaging about 2 lbs. After dark, I had them using slippery Dead Ringers (Smelly Jelly) and I tried a brush hog to see if that was the night ticket. A funny thing happened a while later - my client heard a fish jump on the other side of the boat - I thought it might be a carp. Tried to feel my black/red brush hog and couldn't. The bass now decided to jump in front of the black light and by gosh - I was connected to it!! My drag is usually locked with my 30# Fireline and this bass is pulling out line. We got her in and she was 6 lbs even! A perfect specimen - she looked liked she hadn't spawn, or spawned months ago and was totally healed and well-fed. Not a typical Clear Lake post-spawn bass. No, I wasn't asleep - I don't know where that bass came from!! I gave the husband a brush hog and he soon caught a 3lb plus bass. The wife was back at it - hooked one and gave the rod to her dad - and he lost it. She had some others on but couldn't get them in the boat. We wound up with 12 bass in our shorter trip with the top 5 going 15 1/4 to 15 1/2 lbs.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: Because of 4 people in the boat, options were limited to plastics, jigs, and bait like that. I did crank a bit to see if anything was happening - it wasn't. We found some bass very shallow but most were off-shore in about 10 feet of water. Rocky bottoms helped. It looks like weeds are back this year - so far. If hot weather ever comes to Clear Lake and enhances more algae bloom, the weeds may slow. It is going to be interesting to see what the summer patterns will be like this summer. Frogs, anyone?!!

Report: I came in from the back today at about 3:20 PM and started fishing past the back cove toward the dam. I started off using a 3/8oz. Black Brown Spice Booyah Boo Jig with a Watermelon/Red Smallie Beaver as a trailer. After a couple minutes I hooked a dink on my jig but lost it after it came flying out of the water when I was reeling it in. I snapped my jig off but was able to get it back and tied it back on. I moved over to the next little opening 10ft down and flipped my jig into the clump of those wierd weeds (that grew on the shore when the water level was lower) about 7ft in front of me and let it sink down on a slack line. I picked it up to yo-yo it in the weeds and I felt some weight and then a tug and I set the hook and this big bass comes leaping out of the water. It splashes back down and tries to bury into the weeds, but I keep good pressure on her and I get her headed to the surface and away from the weeds. As I'm fighting her I try to bring her over a floating tree branch but she gets stuck and I couldn't move her so she kinda just flopped back in the water and I got her away from the branch and turned her around and she was headed towards my thumb. I lip her and put her on my digital scale and she weighs in at 7lbs. 15ounces! That's my biggest fish so far this year! She was healthy and I could tell she had spawned a while ago because the scarring on her tale was hardly noticable and she wasn't skinny. I called my sister and had her take some pictures. I'll try to post them on the photos section. That was all I caught because I stopped fishing basically after I let her go.
      City: Antioch

Tips: Brown/Black jig with a trailer with some red flake in it.

Report: Fished reaction baits throughout the morning and found alot of followers instead of eaters. Caught some fish off of the face of the dam on a spinnerbait and dartheaded a 2.5# in the west corner of the dam. Bladed a 3# out on the penninsula as well as seeing more followers. Ended the morning dartheading 4 off of Doton's point, which BTW is loaded with so much bait you can see the cloud on your Fish finder and literally see them swimming all around the boat. Topwater still slow to get going, but hope it wll get along soon.
      City: Roseville

Tips: Darthead shad colors and subtle colored reaction baits.

Report: Took my 3 year old daughter out for 3 hrs in my 14ft Gregor and used the trolling motor and fished for bass and crappie but no luck on the launch ramp side of the lake so I decided to head in at 7:30 and put the trolling motor on 5 and started trolling a blue/silver cast master and caught a trout, hey better than nothing:)
      City: San Jose

Tips: The last time I fished here I fished the freeway side and did well but that was 5 years ago:), 5 years ago I did well on 3 inch power grub and caught 15 bass and 15 crappie, did not get bit this time. I did here of a few crappie being caught where the water comes into the lake according to the ranger. Castmaster for trout:)

Report: Fishing for blugil in the marina was red hot off meal worms. We were on float tubes dropping it down and within seconds there would be a fish on. I think total we probably caught over a 100 blugils all released.
      City: riverside

Tips: Use tiny(tiny) hooks with no weight. Also try flipin a trout worm for big blugil and small bass.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: We just returned from our 3rd annual family houseboat trip to Tinity Lake, brought our bass boat of course. The fishing was great as usual. We caught(and released)an average of 50+ fish per day, including smallmouth to 5.7 pounds, several 4's and 3's as well. We didn't find any largemouth this year, but did have incidental catches of a nice trout and many blluegill, and pumpkin seeds. Caught most fish dropshoting roboworm reapers, along with some on mega bait jerk baits and crankbaits. We found the best fishing for larger fish occured in the evening, just before dusk, on points located near the main lake (both inside and outside).
We would like to thank John Gray for being a great steward for the lake. His report are great and have been very helpful to us.
      City: Temple City, Ca

Tips: Triniy is an AWSOME fishery. We just hope it remains as undisturbed as it seems to be.

Report: started @6am on the east side looking for topwater which resulted in zero ...went to big island, but expierenced the same...it was overcast with a cool breeze, but i can't use that as an excuse..finally went behing big island and in some sheltered water found some fish (trout & bass) surface feeding and caught a few...also caught some 25-30' on plastics...sun finally came out and went back out to main body and caught scattered fish on windy points....ended up with about 15 fish of which 3 were trout on plastics, jerkbaits and cranks...
      City: orinda

Tips: really couldn't figure out consistent pattern...made a lot of casts, caught fish in calm water and windy water, but not consisently...most frustrating was no topwater...this was my second early a.m. effort for topwater with poor results...if anyone has any suggestions, i'd appreciate it...good fishn....

Tips: Carolina rigged lizards and drop shoting seem to produce in 20+ ft water. stick to greens purple and browns. KEEP POSTING GUYS! best of luck

Report: Tough day on my fourth visit ever to the Delta. Put in at Holland at 10:30 a.m. and fished up to Frank's Tract and back till 6 p.m. Only two dinks on baby brush hogs for my effort. Tried spinner baits, cranks, dropshot, frog, buzzbait, etc. Obviously I still have much to learn about Delta tides, current, wind, post-spawn habits, etc.
      City: Santa Clara

Tips: Keep posting what you know about the Delta so others like me may learn from your experience. Thanks.

      Water Temp: 72-75

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: I prefished for the JT night tourney, and we caught fish on main lake rock points in 10-15' water. The islands, both the main and the small pair toward the dam, had fish on them. Water has lots of algae, visibility about three feet in places. We caught post spawn fish with bellies full and soft with shad. Shad were heavy in the back of coves, and we metered shad balls all over the lake. We didn't find any reaction fish during the day, but they hit the fat Ika on the fall near the bottom, or picked it up and swam off. The fish were spooky, even at night. We caught fish at night on fat Ikas, the JT winner drop shot all night. Tough bite, but the fish are there.
      City: los angeles

Tips: Slooow presentations ( think dead stick), use rattles on bottom baits, use larger plastics on drop shot. Cranks in 10' water parallel to rock at night.

Report: Foggy morning, launched at 8. Hooked first fish at 8:15. Continued to catch 4 more before the sun came out at noon. All fish in the two pound range. All on wht./chart. spinnerbaits and all in 7 to 10ft. of water. Tried dropshot, crankbaits and tubes but no luck.
      City: San Jose

Tips: Go early once the sun cames out the bass go deep and lock up.

      Chesbro is still fun.

Report: I casted out a Neon Green/yellow spinner bait around 4:30-5am in the morning about my 4th cast out there i felt a big tug so i reeled it in and snap my pole back and the fish was hooked. I caught a large mouth bass around 1-2 lb. I was suprised that i caught something but the fish was probably the one jumping the whole night.

Location: i caught my fish on the left hand side of the dock all the way in the end near the pipe/gutter looking thing.

June 21, 2005 i went out with a couple of my friends in the morning around 10am but didn't start feeling bits till around 11 to 12. We caught
11 Bluegills total it was a nice day kind of windy but it worked out nicely. We just used Wax Worms hooked onto a size 8 hook with a weight on the bottom. The water was probably around 70 degrees caught it at the same place near the gutter/pipe thing.
      City: San Jose

Tips: Catching the large mouth bass was near land i just used a spinner bait and it worked good. Probably start fishing bass around 5am in the morning while its nice and cool.

I think catching Bluegills should be around 11am-12pm while its nice and hot and the plus is that bluegills are capable in the warmer water so they would be near fishable areas. And plus they are breeding around this time

Report: Fished both saturday and sunday, couldn't get any bite going until saturday evening, on drop-shoting, and managed to get about 15, best fish going 3pd's and best 5 going about 10pd's. Sunday the bite picked up, for the morning, with a reaction bite, using blades, and switched over to drop-shoting, when the reaction bite ended, hooked up into about 20-30 fish for sunday, but best 5 only went 10pd's. Fished the South end of the lake, mostly around jago bay, indian island and Konocti, went north to state park, but didn't get anything.
      City: Royal Oaks, CA

Tips: Look for a reaction bite in the morning and evening's, then switch over to drop-shoting and senko's.

Report: Fishing was excellent! First my friend who works at the lake new a marvelous spot for big bass. We through out swim baits and within 5 minutes he hooked up with a 7 pounder. Although it took me about 20 minutes to hook up with an 8 pounder! Then we just went to all known fishing spots and caught quality size bass. Biggest being 3 pounds.
      City: riverside

Tips: Use castaic swim bait with heavy bait caster. Also use 4-6 inch robo worms drop shot or carolina rig off weed bottoms. also try spinner baits in the brush in the morning. my friend had luck with that.

Report: Well the Bass classics of Santa Clara Valley had there tournament up here and there were 11 guys with limits caught. I had the second big fish in the morning rippin a husky jerk bait large size in gold a 4.35 lb spotted bass. The big fish came in the back of a cove with a little water running in on a split shot worm brown color up river in the cooler water(6.72 lbs.). there were alot of fish caught on spider grubs also. The bite seemed to shut down after 10:00 A.M. so get out there early and try rippin. Some of the better fish were caught on darthead worms in steep rocky areas 20 -30 ft.

Report: Found fish friday afternoon in narrows off steep rock walls.Caught 2 drop shot 3 hula grubs.Sat day of tournament worked hard to find keepers. We caught 12 fish 2 keepers?Winning team went up river to cooler water and hammered out first and third plaace finish. Dart head worms in brown colors . Bridge held some nice keepers also.
      City: orangevale

Tips: Lake is full and fish are suspended and scattered. Throw super spook real early and hang on. I lost nice spook when my snap opened on about a 3 lber. Put your lure on in daylite.I'd go up river or narrows. Fish are shallow out to 40 feet? Wiggle wart worked for one guy who likes to crank.

Report: Well finally made it out to New Melones! Ended up with a friend that wanted to go the last minute. Water was great, a bit windy in the early morning, then it laid down fine. All fish came from shore to about 20'. Dart headed, robo worms, and magic worms, green or brown worked well. No big fish but we ended up with about 40 bass total. Gotta love those spotted, and red eye bass. Glad I made it up, and made great time. Fished the river arms, narrows, and some points. Lots of flooded grass, and timber, the lake is in great shape and full.
