Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Got on the water at 5:45 am threw a lot of spinnerbaits early as well as suspending minnows. Got a lot of Dinks but no size. Later in the morning the winds died down and the lake was glass so I started looking for bedding bass. I was able to get a couple of decent size bedders. Wind started to blow at 11:30am or so and went back to reaction baits caught another on a white spinnerbait. I was off the lake by 1:00.

Report: I am sorry this is not a report, but I am fishing Almanor this weekend, and was wondering if anyone knows how the bass bite is. I catch and release, so I will not hurt any of the fish. I just hope that there not on beds. Any help that anyone can give me will be appreciated!

Report: I've managed to do surprisingly good in the last 4 or 5 days with the rain we've been getting. Fished last 3 days it rained and caught good solid fish each day, with each day producing bigger fish for me. Fish were holding deeper off of rock walls, 10-15 feet off the bank. Fished high tide at outgoing. Don't be afraid to try new things even if you think it may not work, top water surprised me in the driving rain. Try a few different techniques and apply the results to your situation to put together a pattern.
      City: Stockton

Tips: Caught plenty fish on jigs and crankbaits. Dark Jigs and bright c-baits. Fish a little farther out every now and then and you may find the big bite you're lookin for.

Report: Spent this weekend up at LOP, firt stop down at the club house revealed a number of beds around the boat docks and a big bed in front of the Golf Cart ramp. 2.5 pound buck gaurding that nest sucked a Senko in 1/2 second after it hit the water. Most beds were empty as I stopped at each park on the way to my house. There in our cove, I could also see empty beds out in the middle of the elodia grass, all through out the cove. Caught a few little bucks on the same Senko around the three docks. Then got out on the water and was amazed at the number of empty beds all over the cove. Ventured out to the bouy line where the Hydrilla was touching the surface and commenced ta whack em on Senkos, the 9L 021 (black/Blue) was the ticket. A few fish would hit the 222(Xmas Tree) and the 208(watermelon Red), but they couldn't lay off the 021. Purty good group of "post spawn" fish hangin in this weed bed, biggest went to about 3.5 pounds. Sunday morning got up and went out in the pouring down rain storm, fish were still there in those weed beds, only a LOT more active. Fished all around the south end along the bouys and in 3 hours caught over 60 bass and went through 8 bags of SENKOS (Thank God fer my sponorship!) I then venture further out into about 12-16 foot in the middle and began to bounce a texas rigged Yammy Kreature in 021 as well, I found the big girls. Caught seven fish between 6-8 pounds on that Kreature, all of them, were pre-spawners and full of eggs. Gotta just love the sight of those fat, clearwater, grass living, pure Northern strain bass, absolutely gorgeous fish, who prolly never see a SENKO!
      City: Oakley

Tips: Seems all the smaller fish in that 1-4 pound range have already spawned and are hunkered in the taller hyrdrilla beds. The big girls have seem to be a little more preferential about moving up to spawn as they are out deeper in the middle of the lake, and still fat and full of eggs!

Report: Nice weather, not a lot of wake makers, fished with the Paulboro Man, so all in all a fun day. No size but a gaggle of fish. Got em on rip bait, crank, c-rig, t-rig, drop shot, jig, tudbe, and I think that's it. Hard to pattern but once again moved around and fished a lot of spots. Still had to work for em and couldn't find a pattern that would yeild anything big.
      City: San Carlos

Tips: Move around a lot. Not marking a lot of bait or fish that are staked up so we had to find active fish.

Report: Went up to the lake to fish the 100% Future Pro. Being how I had never even been to the lake I called Rich Thiel know that he did guide trips there. He completely knew what was going on and we were on fish within minutes of getting there. If you want a top notch guide he is the man. We ended up a 1/4 of a pound out of the money. Not to bad for never being there. Everyone said the bite was tough but not for us we caught fish everywhere we went. The fish seemed to be a little deeper (10 to 25 feet). We caught them on top water, Jigs, Dropshot, and carolina rig lizards. Caught my biggest spot to date a nice 3# fish. Wow those fish can fight!!
      City: Livermore

Tips: Call Rich he is a great guy!!

      Water Temp: 62-64

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I guided another 3-way spring trip Friday at Berryessa - teaching bass fishing, avoiding thunderstorms, and trying to stay out of the wind!! A father-son team and me were pretty successful at all three, catching 31 bass, just missing a thunderstorm, and managed to avoid some of the wind. We started about 7:15 am out of Markley Cove and just fished from there to Wragg Canyon. Didn't want to waste their time fighting wind in the main body. We used split-shot rigs most of the day, using brush hogs (watermelon/red flake), and Camanche Jack worms and creatures. Also, Berkley Power worms and Pulse Worms. The bite was really good between 9 and 12 noon when the shoreline took on a little color from the wind. The best bite was for spots - some in the 2 to 2 1/2 lb range. The son got the biggest bass of the day - a smallie at 2 lb 11 oz - nice looking fish! We did catch a couple under 12 inches - they are starting to show up now. We saw a few beds, but really didn't spend time looking for them. We caught very few in the backs of coves, maybe because of the clear water. They may be spawning more near main lake points this year. We caught a lot of bass on walls with small chunck rock - spots are spawning there. Our 5 best were only a little over 11 pounds - pretty good fishing for a post-front day!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: I was surprised at how spooky the bass were - very few actual bites. When I said the bite was good, I guess I meant the bass were holding the worms good! You would drag the worm and it would just stop - with no motion. It took dad awhile to get the hang of no-bite fishing, but he did and finished strong! I did catch one on a Stacie rip bait. I thought when the sky clouded up in the afternoon - the rip bite would start - it didn't! The fishing actually slowed as it got darker. We still caught fish as deep as 20-25 feet, though the average was 10 to 15 feet. There are lot of fish in the submerged wood, but they are buried deep and it is hard to get the quality bass out. Senkos did not work well for us that day.

Report: Great weather, there was a lot of traffic though. Fishing was tough for me today, most fish were suspended around 13-17 feet, and pretty much inactive. Tried drop-shotting, rip/crankbaits, spinnerbaits etc. Caught one 3 pounder off a purple senko. Saw several huge females, probably 8-10 pounders at the very back of Cherry Cove, in about 1 1/2 feet of water, not taking anything though.
      City: Los Gatos

Tips: Personally, I think this place is overrated...

      Water Temp: 64-69

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Started Saturday am on the east shore across from the marina. Son and I boated 5 between us and lost more. All spots 10-13", downsized from 5" senkos to 3 & 4" senkos after missing several on the 5". Dropped son off at camp and went up river into the 5 mph zone along the east shore and added another 10 same size. All the fish where very tight to the cover and close to shore. Casting into the base of the brush or any laydowns usually produced a fish. The wind made it a liitle difficult to get the lighter baits where they needed to go. Of course the fact that I was being lazy and letting the wind push the boat down the shore to cover as much water as possible didn't help my accuracy.

With a little bit of stability in the weather for a few days and things sould really improve.
      City: Newark

Tips: We seemed to have the best luck with the pumkin green/black flake senkos, watermelon second and only marginal success with a pearlescent shad color.

Report: Caught a few fish today. No size, biggest was around 2 lbs. All fish were off reaction baits until afternoon where we pestered a couple bed fish into biting. LOTS of trout fisherman!!
      City: Fair Oaks

Tips: A couple of days of stable weather should open up this lake.

Report: Like the Donner Party we didn't let a little storm keep us from crossing the Serrias. For $15 we almost bought the lake. Only saw 3 other bass boats and they didn't stay long. Water clear to 15' with rain, heavy at times and wind. Within the first hour we were culling. In 20' to 25' the bite was on. Mostly large spots with a couple of SM and one Large Mouth kicker. Sunken islands, and rock walls were the ticket. No top water or spinner bite. Rootbeer and Watermellon with red flake tubes did best. Ended day with darterhead 4" and 6" purple and browm worms. 30+ fish with 5 best 16#+.

Report: The lake is full and clear, light winds with some white caps. My friend Dennie and my god son Ryan and I went into the North Fork to get out of the winds hiding in a big cove were we found no top water but some small spots and smallies draging a lazards and leach in 5-10 ft. Most of the time the fish were around rocks. Spinners got some and Senkos in the trees (green pumkin). The bit turned off about 10:30 with a front coming in for sundays storm.
