      Water Temp: 59-60

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I guided a very smart client yesterday (Fri), helping him prepare or a Saturday club tournament. Not only did he learn some good spots rom me, but read Dean Sault's post about the Yamamoto #284 hula grub, which I had mentioned to the client also. The big news is that he won the tournament today and took big ish just as Dean did last week on the #284 hula grub - except this was a bit bigger - 11 pounds 3 ounces! Wow!!! I won't say any more in case he wants to post the story. Our trip started Fri at 9 am since that was as soon as he could get there. Rain was orcast or later in the day and o course it started when we launched! We ish Markley Cove and the dam area with a ew bites but no ish. We ished a lot in the narrows and did pretty well. The wind got bad and did hurt us some. We ound two good points and caught several and let so as not to spoil them. He did hook a big spotted bass which broke his 6 pound test. "O with the 6 said I!" and he replaced it with 8. Between rain squalls we ish areas in the main body down to Big Island and ound a lot o ish - on the bottom where they should be! The jig bite, which he wanted to work on really didn't happen, but drop-shotting Basstrix minnow imitations were very good as was a green craw 6" worm. We could have caught a lot o bass even though the bite was slower than we expected with bad weather. We hit several areas or a short time - but wound up with 11 ish - several in the 1 3/4 to 2 1/4 pound range including several largemouth. As I said - the client was smart and saved the big bite or when it counted! Congrats!!!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: As I saw at Folsom earlier this week, the bait has broken up some and many ish wern't relating to the bait as much. Most o our ish were 15 to 35 eet, thought I caught a nice spot in 5 eet o water on a worm. I really though we would get a big bite on Fri but the sudden weather change might have hurt our chances. We really saw the ish begin to school up - when we ound one there were several. We really did try some topwater o and on but not a touch. He cranked too - not a touch. We had plenty o action to keep us busy however!

Report: ished our club tourney .. tough day or all..even our winner who had ive ish limit or 9+.. we had 25 isherman with 9 people getting skunked.. i had our keepers or 5.29 pounds. man was tough to get a big bite. i caught 20+ ish cranking a red/chrome speed trap but only two were keepers . lost a 3+ at the boat . i was ishing alone so when i turned to get the net he became unzipped. he was barely hooked so i was araid to try to swing on board. i ished.. woodward, victoria.. main river between them and then by cruser haven . was raining when we started and rained steady ( but lightly) until noon . o and on till three. also it was airly warm or a rainy day .. couldn't get a spinner bait or buzzbait bite .. only action i could come up with were the speed trap and a 8 inch dead ringer ..

Tips: slow way down.. stay warm and se..

Report: We had our last club tourney o the year here and ishing was pretty good. First place was 14.45 ponds or our ish. This bag was anchored with a beautiul 10.20 hawg. Fish came on a senko early. Second place was a limit or 11.00, with a 4 1/2..He reported all o his ish came in shallow grass drop shotting. I had third with 9.35 and spent alot o the day conused. I dropshotted main lake humps with 1001G keepers worms or a small limit o smallies and spots at 18 eet.About one thirty I ran up river and started cranking yo-zuri vibes on rocky lats. Caught two nice smallies and culled up. Moving urther up river I nailed two nice blacks on blades out o stick ups. Went back to cranking and caught a ive and six lb. striper..Damn they had me excited.
      City: sonora

Tips: Fish and bait here are still shallow. The guy who caught the ten lost a bigger one.Another angler reported losing two giants on blades. And one member caught a 10.40 preishing...This is a good lake..

      Water Temp: 59-63

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Took my Girlriend ishing or the irst time on a major lake (Been ishing the Delta since Summer began). We put in at Markley Cove at around 7:30AM and ished the points thru the narrow's with just two keep's to show. Went into Wragg's Canyon with little sucess. The condition's were lat, which isn't good or that area, I need a breeze, so I booked it up to the Northend o the lake and ound the condition's quite dierent, a Breeze rom the Northwest was happening. We ished the eastside in 12-17t o water with a Don Ivino S-20 6inch Worm and proceded to catch 9 ish in a matter o 2 hour's (1 spot). the Key to catching them was "Grass" isolated.Ripp'in was out, didn't produce anything. Crank'in I had chaser's. It was a subtle bite. Sorta igured it maybe being it was right ater a major ront. Condition's were bright skie's, you couldn't buy a cloud that day.
      City: Livermore

Tips: or shallow ish look or stained water, the clear the water the deeper the ish. Shad seemed to be in 17-35t o water on the windy side o the stucture (wall, point, bank). I your ishing down south look or large ormations o Rock. In my opinion this would hold larger ish. Jig's in Brown and Purple should work.

From nine till 11:30 boated ten ish all averaging two pounds each in water 15 to 25 eet. Splitshotted plastics in browns and greens were working just ine. Dropshoting did not seem as productive. Great "Fall" morning: wind 0-2 mph, saw about our other boats and boy do I miss wakeboarders and jetskiers. Berryessa is stilling holding alot o water.
      City: placerville

Tips: Plastics in brown and green. Mainly six inch worms. The ish were all aggressive little "ootballs".

      Water Temp: 62-64

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Ater the drastic weather change I was anxious to see i the jig bite had started at Collins. I had a chance last week to ish the lake on Wed and Fri or about 3 to 4 hours, and guide there on Sat or about 4 1/2 hours. Sat was a near wipeout as we ished in a windtunnel most o the time - at least it didn't rain. One o the clients who hasn't bass ished beore blanked but his riend landed 4 nice spots on Camanche Jack's morning dawn worms. His biggest was right at 2 pounds. I landed a 2-2 on a jig and a smaller one on a worm. We really would have done better but there is no escaping a strong south wind at Collins when the lake is down (35 eet). The other two days ound good ishing and I was pleased to see hal my catch were largemouth - a couple at 2 1/4 and 2 1/2 pounds. The jig bite was "on" Wed and I landed 8 - lost about 6. Fri was slower with the two big largemouth caught on morning dawn worms. I ished the river arm mostly and also had several main body areas set or my clients, but they were all blown out. Most o the bass on all trips were caught rom 10 to 25 eet. There were some big ish deeper, but I didn't really try or them. Next time!!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: I think the shad population is up this year. Nearly every ish is ull o some kind o bait - one spot spit up several shad. These are the attest all bass I have ever caught there. I am hoping soon the big ish will become more active. I am ready to nail another trophy spotted bass!

Report: went ishing or about an hour this evening just to mess around. I caught one 14" bass on a Rat-L-Trap along some rocks. had another ish clobber a blk/red jig, but immediately dropped it. hey david, ya know, we were nice enough to give you some good tips to put you on some more and better ish on this lake, and now you're givin' some pretty vague reports. The purpose o the reports section is to help out other anglers or their upcoming trips. I you're going to be so vague about what you're doing out there, then there's no point in making the reports.
