      Water Temp: 85

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished Clear Lake, heard that the summer was a great time or top water action, well I ound it to be a little tough. Spent all day throwing a rog had some blow ups but nothing to brag about. Hit the tackle store in Lakeport (Tackle It), Great people. They switched me over to a Rico. Ater the sticker shock I hit the lake again, hit the places they showed me on the map and Wow, what a dierence I boated 8 ish, the largest a 7. They turned me on to a crankbait bite as well that boated a ew more good ish. Thanks
      City: Santa Rosa

Tips: Try using Rico's, LV 500's by Lucky Crat and Speed Traps. There is still a drop shot bite but most ish were in the smaller class.

      Water Temp: 75

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished or 4 days and ound the typical tough conditions or summer at Don Pedro. 3-13 was the largest ish or me this long weekend. I caught 2 or 3 keepers each day and lots o small ish. Darthead salt and pepper Keeper Custom worms, (color #'s 1001B and 1031) along with dropshot 6" worms rom Keeper in Shad patterns (color #'s 1048, 1064 and 170) worked best. The ish seemed to be about 15 to 25 eet. The thing I did ind was that i you ished in the shad you saw on your meter, Lowrance LCX15MT, ishing was tough, but i you ished where you didn't see shad on the screen and came across bass, those ish would eat. Less competition or the artiicial out o the schools o bait I suppose. Most o the ish were in the river arms that I ound. Main lake stu was real slow. Fish slow with conidence. Have un!

      Water Temp: 79-83

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Wow, I don't think I have EVER ished two more exciting summer nights weather-wise than the last two at Clear Lake. The lightning show both nights was spectacular (and didn't run us o the lake!). It really was hard to concentrate on ishing!Thusday night ound calm, muggy weather with the clouds moving in about 11 pm and some rain. Fishing, not catching, was abulous! Friday night was windy, a little cooler, and ishing was air or smaller bass up to 4 pounds. As a student o bass behavior, I just can't begin to tell you how amazing the dierence between the two nights was. The bass were in an aggressive mood as darkness ell Thursday evening, and instead o the usual shut-o at dark they kept right on eeding!! Both clients lost a big ish right at dark and I caught a 7 pounder about 15 minutes ater dark. Friday evening at dusk, same place, same baits, NO activity except or bass up to 2 pounds (the 4 pounder came about 1 am). I should have a great report o a 25-30 pound limit Thursday, but sometimes olks just can't put them in the boat and this was one o those nights unortunately. Again, it is the hook-setting thing or these big bass - some just have a hard time grasping how much energy it takes or a swit, hard hookset. They lost three big bass and about 7 or 8 others. Shortly beore we quit one got a 3-10 in the boat and the other ended with a 4-2 rom Shag Rock (I didn't think there were any good bass let there!) - I was happy or them and me! We wound up with 10 bass in the boat and a 20 1/2 pound limit. Thursday we started throwing Snag Proo rogs and the clients had a great time learning how to do that. I didn't think much would happen with the weird weather and we didn't even get a blowup - in about 6 dierent areas around the south end. Friday my client had great ishing skills but not too many bass to test them on. He did manage to catch 2 rog ish in the back o Konocti Bay, but they were only in the two pound range. The rest o the trip was hard work in the wind - very slow as I mentioned - but we did catch 12. The 4 pounder was landed on a Weapon jig - the only decent bass we hooked. We talked to another boat with the same story - only small bass. My Friday guy would have gone nuts i he had been with me Thursday night! That is the tough thing about guiding or me - I am thrilled or the clients that hit it right and sad or those who don't. Bass don't oten provide a level playing ield or tournament anglers, guides, or weekenders! I was reminded Friday night, ater Thursday's action, sometimes it's not the anglers ault when things are slow!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: Many o you have been interested in my bass eeding - carp activity theory. I maintain that the nights the carp are rolling, or when they start to roll (around 11pm to 12am), the bass ishing is usually good (as a general rule). So, how about Thursday and Friday nights? You guessed it - Thursday night the carp were pretty active, ESPECIALLY around dark (hint, hint!), and somewhat the rest o the time. Friday night - a grand total o TWO carp were heard. Hmmmmmmm! 'Nu said. Another interesting thing happened - when we started worm ishing Thursday about 7:30 pm one client was ishing junebug, the other green pumpkin, and I decided to ish a pack o Camo Berkley 6" Pulse worms. I have never used that color. The bass hammered them. That's my job - to ind what works. I gave them to my clients and their action picked up. I used that worm because it had a little sparkle to it. I sure hope Berkley still makes that worm!! Both nights we used Berkley Power worms, Camanche Jack zipper worms and Dead Ringers. The 7 pounder was caught on that Camo worm. We ished rocky areas both nights - mostly walls - no rockpiles. The ish were 10 to nearly 30 eet deep. I think all the quality bass we hooked were at least 15-20 eet deep which is normal when the surace is 83 degrees.

Report: WOW!!! Is all I can say, Folsom has not been this good since March and April or me.Cloud cover just about all morning slight breeze and biting bass. We caught 20 - 25 ish and iteen o them were 2+ or better. The best was a our and a hal lb spot, I got two smallies that went 3.9 on the Berkley scale. All ish were healthy and hungry. All ish came on the main body, I ran up South irst thing to ind no takers. All o the ish came rom 12 - 20 eet o water, Since this is me reporting you know how I caught them DUH!! Darthead and dropshot.Great Day on the water, I need to have more weekdays o or ishing
      City: Sacramento

Tips: We were shaking the bait pretty good or a ew seconds then deadstick, then shake again the bites came just when you stopped shaking.

Report: got the itch to get back up there, let town at 0315 and got to the stuart' ork ramp at0445, overcast skys and 70 degrees with a drop or two o rain on the windshield, sat around till 0545 and put the boat in, the lake is about 30 t down, moved away rom the ramp throwing a rip bait, then a crank bait and nothing, water a bit murky, picked up my spinning rod and dug around to ind some MGM hooktails an stuck one on, pitched to a stump and got bit right o and up comes a very small smallmouth, reload with another hooktail and throw at some willows and bang! another small ish. This kept up until 0915 when I ran out o the #109C hooktails, Had a 50 pack but went through them quickly just swimming them around any wood or rocky points in Stuart's ork and down in Papoose. Ended up with 38 with only 2 keepers that went 4 lbs, must have shook o as many as I caught, Over in Papoose the water was much clearer and you could see those little guys coming up ater the hooktail, saw one decent ish charge my bait but hit short and took o. Got out at 0945 and the air temp was 75, not a lot o activity on the lake, 3 others ishing and maybe 6 ski boats, one jet ski, reminded me o Shasta in early october. This was my irst crack at the south end and John at MGM gave me some good advice about where to go down there.
      City: Redding,Ca

Tips: swimming a 4 inch MGM #109C(chartreuse tail) hooktail on a 1/4 oz darter head rom the bank out to 19t, also caught a ew on hula grubs, the two best came on the hooktail over in Papoose.

Report: Thursday report. Launched rom Orwood and headed to a rock wall on the main river throwing Norman Crank DD18...Caught 15+ ish in a short time, most were small 1-2lb with largest at 2.5lb. Headed to another area in just o the main river and drop shotted 10+ ish with three at 2.5 and 2 over 3lbs...Best quality I have ound to date on the drop shot. Decided to throw jigs and blades or awhile without much luck on either. Headed toward home and ished a rock bank on the Old River and caught too many dinks to talk about on the drop shot. Also caught two large catish that at least got the adrenaline pumping a bit. Good day.
      City: Discovery Bay

Tips: Rock, Current, with depth seem to be the key. Didn't get on the water until 11:00 AM and o by 5:00 PM. Otherwise, I'd recommend throwing topwater...Colors were white and watermelon that did the trick cranking and with the drop shot. Stay sae. TG

      Water Temp: 82!!!!

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Let the marina Sunday morning at 5:30 to go pitch some Senkos at one o my spots but when I got there one o the local heavys was camped out on it so I continued up river about a hundred or so yards to try a spot I scouted out the day beore during the low tide. Caught tons o 1 and 1 1/2lbr's all on 5in. Baby Bass Senkos. My biggest catch o the day was about a 2lb bullrog that I caught not once but twice also on the Senko. Saw him pop up on some dead tules, pitched it right in ront o him and he pounced on it. Let him go and about a minute later he popped up again. Pitched the Senko right in ront o him again and wham! He did it again!
      City: Holt

Tips: I was ortunate to attend a seminar last year by Mr. Sapp and Mr. Cuccia and one thing that the both o them couldn't stess enough was to go out at the lowest tide, leave the poles at home and just go see what's out there. That alone has improved my ishing more than anything. You'll save on gas because you'll know exactly where you should be ishing or the conditions at hand and that nasty sunburn you always get rom spending the entire day trying to catch the big one will be a thing o the past!
