Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: began pursuit around 830am. took buddy with me who has not caught a mama bass over 5lbs so told him be a slight chance at this lake and reminded him o the 80 lb limit caught here in 1981 i believe. Larry Hemphill, is that still the state record or 5 bass? (our hometown heroe or bass catching, but didnt teaching students bring you more joy? i thought not.)keep up the good ishing reports,Larry and hey, dont you ever age? all o the pictures we've seen o you in the magazines seem to be rom the early 80's.i guess ishing keeps you looking young. anyways, back to the report. started with some topwater, in chartreuse, and caught 2 bass with little size.my buddy, using a hula popper in rog pattern hooked into monster shortly ater, appeared to be over 6lbs or so but will never know since he became too anxious bringing it in. SNAP! bye bye.he was crushed. but told him it was still early.I then ished with a Matzuo crank upon the ledges o jackson arm, and sunk into a good one. weighed in at 7.9lbs. pretty largemouth ish, perect stripes down the middle. things got slow or a ew hours, as it tends to do, but picked back up or the better. we were throwing SENKOS and PB pulse worms and the un was on........are you ready?.....ish on! Fish on! etc...4.4#..8.3#..6.0#..2.5#'s...then...bam! a 12.1lb godzilla on a beat up senko ished backwords on the hook. it was my buddies hook up and he ished it beautiully as I swore to him he'd be taking a swim i he lost it. the last 45 seconds o the ight,it damned near broke his rod, you could hear it hum beore letting it take some drag."dont give it to much!" i screamed. then "let him run!" it was worth its weight in gold just to watch him ight this ish. it was what ishing is all about. you could have stuck a sotball in this monsters mouth! About 15 minutes later, it was my turn... tossed a senko green with blue lake that had been soaked in extra salt, cast, sink, sink, twitch, pull, sink, reeled slowly, slowly, i said "here we go" as i elt something then...bam! a quick battle that awarded me with another lunker. but not as big as his. only a mere 11.5lb beauty! i can live with that.Sorry guys, but my buddy kept his ish as it was the biggest hes hooked into that wasnt caught in a river, but mine was released back to the waters o Slamador.caught 8 more throughout the day, hal o them over 3lbs. although you shouldnt expect days like this too much, always have aith. oh, and by the way, we will be doing our TROUT ishing here in late october to do battle with the cutbows, and yes Justin W, i may report our catches on this sight. i have not orgotten rom last year but let by gones be by gones, i tried emailing you to get together and ish, but you did not respond...lets do this! and to the one who brought their dog on the boat who decided to jump in and ish himsel, thanks, he attracted the bass today, but please keep him in the boat next time, i dont think many would have been happy to hook a 40lb mutt! as he scouted the banks or over 10minutes.Sorry. (and to leave you with a "ish story", me and my ishing partner were trout ishing at Upper Salmon Lake in the lakes basins o the sierra nevada last month or so, me using yellow power bait, him using chartuese Crave, i started getting bit, but then it stopped, a ew seconds later, hes reeling in his line with a nice little bend on his pole, while he doing this, i kept trying to tighten the slack in my line, but it wasnt working, so i deciding to bring in my line and as i did, my line started heading towards him about 10t away rom me, so i quickly brought in all the slack and then my rod bent, which was an ultralight, the ight was major and thought or sure my pole was about to snap, and at the same time my buddy is reaking out but not being able to land his ish. then we realized our lines were directly aimed in the same direction, and as i pulled, his pole bent, as he pulled, my pole was bent, so we thought our trout had tangled up in each other. so i let him bring in his ish irst, and try to ree my line, well as it turned out, i no longer had a ish to reel in as he removed the hook rom the side o the 18 inch rainbow trouts mouth, as my hook was ound deep in the gully o the same ishes throat. we were ighting over the same ish.it obviously swallowed my bait, and proceed straight to his crave bait to eat it too, and didnt think twice. so we ended the day with him landing 10 and one hal trout, and me landing 17 and one hal trout.(one hal trout, try explained that one to listeners)happy ishing to all!
City: yuba cityTips: go with your insticts and have patience. and put your dogs on a lease. or take FIDO to a slough, ditch, bybass, whatever, and let them do some "CAT"-ishing.just kidding. Fido was our lucky charm that day.

Report: ished rom the dam area on right side, 4 ish. ished rom 5-7pm.Used split shotted senkos (purple with emerlad lakes), crawdad colored crank, rattletrap, and a buzzbait. The sammler are swimming in schools.

Del Valle Lake
-
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Started out at 7:30 am throwing buzzbaits around the rockwalls which was the wrong thing to do. Eventually, I made my way to some weedbeds that were 8 - 12 t deep. Since the water was so clear (+10 eet visibility), I tied on a jerkbait - which was the RIGHT thing to do. The ish were sitting down at the bottom o the weedbeds looking up and waiting or one o the many shad schools to swim by. I caught a nice 2lber on a 3" shad jerkbait. Then I caught a small 6" bass and while skimming him across the surace and making alot o splashing, a large black object ollowed the bait in but turned deep just beore getting to the boat. The trick was to make as much surace disturbance as possible and keep the lure moving ast. Ended up hooking 10 and boating 7 - all rom the weedbeds. O the water at 4:30pm.
City: San JoseTips: Use 2" - 3" jerkbaits in shad color (black and chrome). Possibly using a prop bait would have been good. Water is crystal clear. Make long casts to weedbeds.
-
Water Temp: 72.4

Lasted or about 30 min. Then it slowed down. Stuck a 4lb ater lunch on a buzz. Best ive went or 15+ lbs. Caught alot o ish but also got alot o short strikes. All ish came on a zara spook and a white buzz...
City: FremontTips: No ish on plastics... All my ish were caught on spooks and buzz baits. Senko's didn't even work.

Water Temp: 75
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Got a chance to go out last night ater work. Was out there or about 3 - 4 hours. Had 2 ish turn on a rog, nibbles but no takers on dropshot in 20' o water, and at the end o the day I was throwing the Jig to some Bush/weed edge and I was so turned o by this point I missed something really big. The jig hit the water, within 6" o the surace the ish rolled on it. I was asleep and missed it. It was really tough or me, I hope someone else was doing good and can tell me what I was doing wrong.I was throwing the Spinnerbait a lot because I know this lake is usually good or a couple with it but none today. I graphed a lot o ish 20' down, about 50' o shore, but no takers. Also there is soooo much bait in the water right now, I suspect that ish don't need to go ar to eat.
City: San JoseTips: I don't have any, I hope someone can email me with help.Thanks,R. Duzac

Water Temp: 70-73
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: We arrived at 6:30 and the wind was already blowing. My tipical spots or morning topwater were all chopped up. I ound some calm water on the south end and hooked up real quick. The ish snapped my line as soon as I set the hook. I lost my avorite chug bug to that ish. The unny thing is he jumped twice ater the line was snapped trying to throw the bait; he was about 3lbs.I was pretty bitter about that. The day was slow. I caught three lippin' the weeds on the northern end. Caught two on a jig and one on a zipper, biggest was 4lbs, the other two were 2.5lbrs. Tried spinnerbaits and crainkbaits but had no luck.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: My irst time ishing Clear lake, drop shotting over rock piles with a 3" worm produced several small bass, but several large ish were ollowing them up to the surace. went back to the same rock piles at night and threw 10" black & purple power worm and hooked up a 5lb 4oz largemouth and several that went 3lbs. The wind kept us o the weed beds so we didn't try the rog bite but heard it was very productive or others. Thanks to the young ellow at Tackle It in Lake Port. His advice made our trip a very enjoyable one!
City: Fallon NVTips: the bites were pretty sot, i you eel resistance set the hook!

Shadow Cliffs Lake

Water Temp: warm
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: The lake that I ish is the one directly behind the parking lot on the other side o the levee. Many isherman ind this lake productive. The other pond that many reer to is called island pond. I mysel do not ind island pond to be as productive as the other one. I am not sure i you have a loat tube, but having one gives a huge advantage. Fishing the weed line with senkos is a good choice. Using a drop shot rig or carolina rig in the middle o the lake or along the banks o the southside is very productive. Try using green pumpkin or watermelon colored plastic. These are the best colors to use out there. I you enjoy top water, plugs early or late in the day work rom time to time. Imitation rogs work on those thick weed beds.

Trinity Lake
-
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished our Cottonwood Bass Club tournament at Trinity Lake, a two day, event. I had a non-boater in the back, a very nice young angler by the name o Ryan. Saturday promised to be a good day as I have been ishing Trinity 2 or 3 times a week with great sucess, however good days do not start with a broken trolling motor pull rope. I was lucky to have a spare onboard so I ixed that and then my pinpoint 7520 quit working, I then made a boneheaded decision to go to the south end o the lake where I had not been ishing and so we caught nothing but small ish, no keepers. By the time o our weigh in I was hot enough to cook on. Sunday morning started much better with Ryan catching 2 keepers while I lost 2 on a blade. I then made a move to one o my usualspots, where I caught a good smallie and one 12" ish, move rom Eastork up to the tailings with no luck there. back to the ballpark where I got a ine 4.25 smallmouth. Finished the day in the cove my backseat reered to as xxxxhouse cove in his report, I wonder where he learned the name o that cove. I caught a nice ish at 2.5 lbs. Ryan had our ish or the day as did I. I weighed in 9.42 lbs, a much better day than yesterday. Thank you Ryan or being so understanding you are going to be a very good bass isherman.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: New to ishing the "back ponds" at Shadow Clis. Don't know exactly how many there are or to which ponds you guys are reerring when you report success or lack thereo, but ished there last Sunday when they ound the body! Fished the two just over the rise closest to the main lake rom dawn to about 10:30 and picked up 5 small ish on Senkos. Did not see (or smell) the body and am not sure i he was even in either o the ponds I ished. Would have been a grisly discovery! The one closer to the back section o the main lake was really choked with weeds and less productive than the one just over the rise rom the parking lot. Would appreciate some more speciic tips rom the more experienced with Shadow Clis since it's such a close ishery. Thanks.

California Delta

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished the 1st annual Snag Proo Frog Open out o Big Break...305 BOATS!!! Overall the tourney was well run considering the crowd. Partner and I ished the middle Delta and caught a small limit (3) o 5.0lbs. I had 6 blow ups and hooked 5...Landed 4...culling 1. Delta window opened at the change rom High to Low and lasted 45 minutes...Partner was less ortunate as his blow ups were not overly aggressive...It doesn't get any better than catching a Delta bass on Frog even when they are o the smaller variety.
City: Discovery BayTips: The traditional black and white weren't the ticket today.. Fished green/white belly and suicide mixture o green/ch/red...Use Braided line or orget it on mats...Had a 3+ lb ish I lost break 50lb spiderwire and continue to jump around the boat or several minutes with my rog in her mouth...Stay sae and release your catch. TAKE A GUIDE TRIP WITH BOBBY BARRACK and watch a rog master at work...He helped my hook up ratio go rom 20% to over 50% on one trip...Thanks, BOBBY. TG

Report: Fished rom 7:30am to 11:00am, I caught onlyone 13-inch trout around 10:00am using yellowPowerEggs. Yes, I have to pay $8 or parkingand ishing permit, but I don't mind, I'mhaving un with or without ish being caught.I heard a lot o people with this kind oslogan: - "Why don't you just go to the marketand buy ish?" These people with such sloganare NOT REALLY A FISHERMAN. Buying ish in amarket is totally dierent eeling vs ishingon the lake. Fishing on a lake is sport, youhave to spend money.
