Report: not a lake report, went down to the Red Blu Diversion Dam or some shad ishing with a local legend, Bill Quinn Sr. Bill operates a guide service on the river and Shasta Lake(530)474-3213 and lives up near Shingletown. I have known Bill or a couple o years and we talked about some shad ishing a ew days ago so o we went with my bride included. Got in at the dam at 0515 and ran downstream about 3/4 mile near salt creek and got onto ish right o the bat, Bill caught the irst and my wie,Bronla had one on just as Bill got his in, both at hens o about 4lbs. I got hooked up and brought a small male to the boat ater he surged around and under the boat. We averaged about a ish every 15 minutes and the wie caught a at emale at 9am that went over 5 lbs or the ish o the day, we lost as many as we had on. Gotta love these Sacramento River "tarpon". They are a great ighting ish and are beautiul in their spawning colors. Most olks up this way haved not gotten on the ish lately but Bill sure knew where to ind them. We moved twice and got bit in all three places, boat placement was very critical. We had a ball and I am looking orward to the salmon opener on the 16th, Bill's salmon inding skills are well above the norm. ended up with 20 ish total ater I kept hearing that "they ain't up here yet" rom a number o people. great trip on a beautiul cool morning. The rive is currently at 10,000 cs, put in at 68 degrees, out at 88 and the water is gin clear.

Tips: pink shad darts(crappie jigs) with a chartreuse tail did the trick or us

Report: Went out or the morning out o Orwood. Started o in Woodward picking up a couple 8" ish. Tried running South to Widow Island, but wind was bad. Threw a blade or a ew minutes then lat to head back to central Delta and see i it was still calm there. A ew miles up Old River the wind died. Flipped several 8-10" ish o a berm in the current. Caught one 2.5# ish o a small mat on a rog, worked the rog or another hour with only one more blowup. Ran to Franks where I lipped and cranked some o the openings with no luck. Picked up one more small but very at keeper and several more 8" ish lipping tules.

Report: launched out o rivers end around 6am and ished victoria slough got a decent bite on blades but most o the ish were very small less than 12 inches my partner got a small one on a buzzer and missed a rog ish. ended up getting one keeper out o victoria then we decided to ish union point picked up another keeper and more dinks. we noticed a pipe expelling water in the distance and decided to make a ew crankbait casts into the turbulent H2O and immediately hooked into a 20 inch striper he came o but there were plenty more where that came rom. my partner and i caught several sriper and a ew small bass mixed in. the striper bite died down and we had 2 20 inch stripers in the well. the rest o the day was spent cranking ish traps and dragging plastics on the outer weedline and we continued to score the little guys. as we let i decided to ish a rog or a spell and got my irst rog blow up (swing and a miss :( )oh well it was neet seeing my rog get smacked and pulled under-peace

Report: Had parties out on the lake both Sunday and Tues. Sunday was pretty slow but probably hit 20-25 ish total. A 6lb. Largemouth saved the day. It hit a rootbeer senko in the tailings early. Couldn't get a topwater bite going either day, but Sunday's crew had a couple o boils. Tues didn't bring us the toad we were hoping or but the clients were mostly interested in locations and techniques that would produce bigger ish than they had ound in the past. With 25-30 ish caught, several in the 2lb range mission accomplished. Fish both days were caught mostly on senkos and darter head Pro Worms. Morning Dawn is still working good as is the Pro Gold red lake. I must say that I throughly enjoyed both days. It'snice to have clients who appreciate the eort and are also really nice people. Thanks guys.
