California Delta

Water Temp: 75
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: I don't usually go out on weekends at this time o the year and I was reminded why again yesterday, pleasure boaters galore out there! Anyway, I went looking or some new water in the South Delta and ound some nice areas. Started using the same old patterns that have been working all week. Buzzbait across weedlines, spinnerbaits along weedlines and Senkos in structure and pockets. Was catching ish all day with the biggest boated being 3.5lbs. I say boated because my son, (who only went out with me because I showed him the 6-7lber rom Friday) was throwing a Senko into a tule/weed line and hooked into a 5-6lber. He got overexcited and reeled in too much line and the ish threw the hook beore I could get the net.I love this summer ishing!

Water Temp: ???
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Well, it eels good to be back and on my home lake again. I ished in my loat tube rom about noon until around 5ish. I caught a total o 14 bass today. Nothing that big though with the biggest one topping at around 2.75lbs. I caught most o them on a t-rigged 5" junebug colored Zoom inesse worm. Two bass came on a Senko (one o which was a 2.75lber) and one other bass on a 1/2oz lipless crankbait. Ater I had caught two bass with the plastic worm no less than 10t away rom me, I igured that maybe I should back o o the bank a ways and that's when I really started catchin' the ish. I missed several other bites and lost a couple o other bass. The majority o the bass were holding way o o the bank in about 7-10t o water around the weeds.
City: AntiochTips: In the summer at this lake, I do much better ishing slightly deeper water with jigs and plastic worms in the weeds...just never got around to throwing a jig today. I'll try lookin' around or the bigger ones next time...

Hennessy Lake
-
Water Temp: 76-79
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I took my girlriend's ather out to Hennessy yesterday. He lives in Eureka and is a lielong ly isherman--very accomplished. He also will deign to use conventional stu, i that's what's working on a given day. Neither o us had ever been to Hennessy. I had driven by it a number o times and thought it might hold promise. And what promise it held! It promised to skunk us both, ishin' as hard as our little hearts could or 6+ hours. It promised to add yet another page o humility in my already humility-laden ishing log. It promised to give up nothing, not even the SIGHT o a bass (except or schools o ry, i that counts, but I think those schools were planted rom elsewhere by evildoers, cuz it's obvious this lake has no bass). Granted, we did go in the heat o the day. AND--I did manage to catch a monster crawdad on a pig and jig. He just wouldn't let go. Should have stuck him with a hook and used him or a while, just to establish the total absence o ish in this lake. We had un, though. Really.
City: Santa RosaTips: Watch Bill Dance. Do not try this on your own. It will lead to your ruin.

Report: Got here at about 6 am. We had to wait with our car until the person who opens the gate came. When we got here tried to catch some bass with a local avorite minnow jig. Unsucessul. We saw some anglers catsh some trout on power bait so we decided to switch. Caught about 4 trout the whole day. All rom about 1 - 2lbs. At about 5 pm, we were about to leave I was also unsucessul trying to catch crappie, but my dad tried the minnow jig one more time. Within a ew minutes he landed a 3 1/2lb largemouth. We came the very next day and tried again and we both caught largemouth 3-4 lbs.

Black Butte Lake
-
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: havent been here since late eb.(once, but ished here all o last late summer and all with much success.) started at anglers cove, was suprised to see how much water in the lake, it had never been this ull. early morning bass were eeding on top, practically jumping in boat but could not hook up on them with anything. hooked up a ew cats on some crankbaits which is quite usual on this lake. went to ish the ledges on the other side and cruise the coves that never had water in them beore. recreational boaters please watch were the #^#$%^# you are going, we isherman may have to retaliate with some pinpoint snag-your-ass casting. was dragging a perch pattern rattletrap and caught a healthy crappie to 3lbs. went back to anglers cove late aternoon and deadsticked Senkos or an hour on so. caught 6 largemouth to 15-1/2"
City: Yuba CityTips: varieties o crankbaits in perch, baby bass or iretiger use to work here steadily as well as some inese worms. work the lower end o the shallows to 16 eet. good luck with topwaters, you'll need it.

Water Temp: ???
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: My riend wanted me to drop him o at some party that a riend o his was having. Turned out he lived in Discovery Bay, so as soon as I heard that I brought the ishin' gear just in case. Apparently, he lived right on the water, so his riend let me go out back and ish. haha. I also had another riend along with me who wanted to ish. On the irst cast, I pitched a senko to the inner edge o a weedline to show my riend how to ish a senko. I never got a chance to show him though, because a 2lber picked it up beore it ever hit the bottom. Ater that, I caught 2 more bass in the 1-2lb range pitching a senko to the edge o the weeds. Then I threw a buzzbait, and caught 3 more bass also all in the 1-2lb range. I caught 6 bass in an hour and a hal beore we had to go...it was un...I'm considering loat tubing Disco Bay next time...
City: AntiochTips: Pitch senkos to the edge o weedlines and throw a buzzbait back behind the weeds inbetween the weeds and the shoreline. That'll get 'em...

Water Temp: 75
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: I took a couple o neighbor kids out who always hear me talk about catching bass and love to ish. I set them both up with Senkos and started to ish some weed lines. I was throwing buzzbaits, crankbaits, senkos, and rogs. One kid caught one dink and I cought one dink on the crankbait. The tide was still pretty low at the time. I dropped them o where they were going camping cuase they were getting bored with catching nothing. I continue to ish, the tide was coming in pretty ast at this point. I ind a place where the water is rushing into a small looded island. The current pushed me in while the wind pushed me out. It balanced out so I was sitting in the rushing tide at the mouth o this island and not moving! I start throwing senkos and letting them drit in caught two 2.5 lbers. I throw a crank bait or a while and catch a small catish. I notice a lat o to the right with two very large ish busting the surace, I igure stripers. I throw the crankbait, nothing. I throw a chartruese and white spinner, BAM! I get the irst one in ater a nice ight, she was a 6-7lb largemouth. She ought so hard that she tore up my lucky spinnerbait (lost the blades). I ind a similar one (gold & silver baldes instead o painted white/chartruse) and go ater the other. She wouldn't have anything to do with anything I threw ater that. She was still jumping around out there. I decided to come back and get her another day.
City: BrentwoodTips: Throw dierent things until your arm hurts and then throw some more.

Amador Lake
-
Water Temp: 77-80
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I had two successul guided trips Tues and Wed evenings, and an even better solo Wed aternoon outing between trips!! The irst evening started about 7 PM where my client missed a ew on black rogs. I noticed that the water really had a green tint to it, so I decided to try a white/chartreuse Terminator spinnerbait. Good choice - a 6-2 inhaled it in about 2 eet or water. Very exciting!! We worked topwater beore dark with some success - sadly the client lost a good one in the weeds. Ater dark the bite was pretty good on worms and black/chartreuse 10 inch Yamamoto grubs. Use a big hook or those things!! I lost a big one with a hook that was too small. We wound up with nine or ten in the boat - should have had many more, but my client just had trouble getting them to stay on the hook. Average size was about 2 pounds. Wed aternoon I ished or about 4 hours (1 to 5 PM) and had a ball! I used the 6 inch #301 Senko and my avorite "old style" green Snagproo rog and landed 8 bass or a limit o 22 1/2 pounds! Biggest was between 5 1/2 and 6 on the rog and I lost a bigger one 'cause I orget to reset my drag ater the previous rog ish. Stupid!! I couldn't igure out why it was so breezy and warm instead o the hot weather that was predicted. My Wed evening client told me about the sudden change in the orcast when he arrived. Well, that was great or the day, but it did slow down the night ishing as a cool ront always does. The topwater bite was much slower as we ished rogs, poppers, and Senkos. I did manage a 5 pounder on the rog and a ew smaller ones and my client got a ew on poppers. We did ok at night, catching about 16 up to 4 1/2 pounds. The 6 inch Berkley black/chartreuse Pulse worm was the hot ticket. 10 inch Power worms worked too. The big 10 inch grub didn't work so well the second night. Even caught one on a jig. There were no hot spots - we ished all over the lake. Added highlights: I caught an 8 pound catish at the dam on a magnum Wiggle Wart - what a hit!!!!! Second night - my irst catish on a topwater lure - about 4 pounds! In the aternoon trip, I caught a bullrog on the Snagroo rog. Is this mating season? She ate it, but ater a ew photos I was able to release the rog unharmed. What is Amador coming too?!!! Nice drive home - lots o un and happy clients!
City: Yuba CityTips: We saw lots o shad schools, but only small bass were ater them, and not with too much eort. As I have suspected through the years, June oten oers better daylight ishing than night ishing. I think the better night ishing will start sometime in July. One reason the bass were so shallow or us was that the lake had come up again as they release water rom Pardee. Amador is only 2 eet rom ull, which tends to keep good quality bass shallow through the post-spawn period.

Report: Got to the lake at 10:30. Fished the reeway side with 4" pumpkin worm Carolina rigged. Didn't get a bite until 3:00. Fished until 6:00 and ended up with 3 ish at about a pound each. What a dierence a couple o days make. Oh, by the way I released all the ish both days.

Water Temp: 72-80
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Crankbaits have been working well o the banks in the evening. Solid black and solid white medium divers are best. Sot plastics always good this time o year. Got a strong hit on a 10.5" black worm but wasn't able to get him. Most ish are 10-16", I even caught a bass between 3-4" on a crankbait. Haven't seen too many black bass, mostly spots.

Report: Took a day o on Wednesday to see i Los Banos Bass are still biting, start ishing around 6:00am and got limit by 10:00am they were not big but legal size, saw many big ish swimming around but the one you saw they didn't bite. I think the small guys are more agressive.
City: MilpitasTips: I don't use anything else but night crawlers, ind deep water, the one you catch that the one you don't see.
