They all were my relatives one wa or another and came or a HUGE barbaque and all ished or carp with cornmeal. They got a couple good sized carp bit they said that they only bite in the morning and stopped biting at around 11am. I threw out my minnow jig or most o the day......no luck. Switched to my trusty Rat-L-Trap and caught one small 6 in bass. Tried my other cranks, no luck. Then used my minnow jisg some more, nothin. Stayed until the park closed trying to pick up a bass. One o the worst ishing days ever and also one o the most annoying days ever(im dont like my relatives and them being there made it that much more annoying).

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: This is in response to the report below. I would deinitely start out with big topwater baits. Post spawn is a great time to stick a hog on top. When the sun gets on the water go with dark plastics. The delta is a little stained right now rom the winds and boat traic. I you get wind, head to some rip rap and you should get a good reaction bite on blades and speed traps. Good luck.

Report: I promised Tony that I'd be upront i I post without a report. Got a little round up here you might ind interesting though. Took my boat to the mechanic or engine installation and that means I'll be back on this lake soon posting valid (or invalid) reports. Sucks or you. The Golden State tournament was launched last Sunday in that sunny hurricane o a day. By noon State Parks closed the lake and cancelled the event. Sucks or them. How about the guy who drove through the tidal waves, got to a spot, and was sitting on a big bag when a ranger in a deep vee rolls up and says yo, yo, we've closed the lake. Pack it in or this one dude. My buddy Wildman took a trailer to Rattlesnake on a rescue mission and had a 20 minute conversation with a competitor at the ramp. He had about 12lbs, and when he let someone said hey, that was Skeet Reese. Wildman's brush with ame. I'm not the only one with engine issues this season- Hippie Mark, my buddy Brian, he had to be towed rom the back o the south at Oroville, C.B. lost a ring guide on a piston, get's it back and loses his lower end the irst day o practice or a two day at Shasta. He ished on the trolling motor and still kicked some bass. C.B. was me and Swimbait's supervisor back in the day when we gave up disco or Cheap Trick. Checked in with Swimbait and I'm waiting to hear the repeat perormance o a year ago when he nailed a 7 and an 8 in an hour on the bait that's his namesake. He notes the lake and the season is so much dierent this year. Saved the best or last, Blademan won the club's Shasta event on a darterhead. Blademan goes inesse? That's as big as Dylan going electric! Actually it's more like Metallica going unplugged. I'm suprised he was able to ind his spinning rod amongst all buba bait sticks on his boat. I they were Interlines you could bust out a couple balls and shoot pool on his deck. Heck, the carpet's red. 8 ball in the cupholder please. I igured he donated all his spinning gear to casting kids by now. He claims he lost a ew good ones because his rod was too sti- imagine that. He came back on day two and beat us by more than a hal pound anyway. I'm the one who's spinning now.

Report: Ryan rom redding came by early this am or our irst trip together, in the water at Jones Valley at 0445, air temp 63 water down past 17t, and the gravel is again available adjacent to the ramp or about 4 rigs, went out into Jones Valley where I got hooked up right o the bat with a dink and Ryan missed one, I caught 2 ore and one was a decent 2.8, all three came on jigs. We took o or squaw point and ound some ish but no go so we ran to the top o the squaw where I caught 2 more and had another jump o, all three were small and on jigs, the wind started to come up again at 0830 so we bugged out or breakast at the giant orange. It was a real pleasure or me to have a young man o 17 in the boat who is a very nice kid, those are rare these days.
City: ReddingTips: tried a spook, a rip bait and a worm but the only thing working today was the jigs on 3/4 oz ootball heads.

We got bit on jigs (black/blue), junebug Berkeley Power hogs, white blade spinnerbaits, and the good 'ol chart/blue back Deep Little N all beore dark - biggest going about 4.4. Ater dark we got ish on black/chart jig and 10" and 12" red shad power worms. Biggest ive went 6.5, 5.4, 4.6, 4.4, 3.0. We let around 12:30 am so the ishing was better than usual. Most ish came rom about 12' with a slow to deadstick retrieve (except or the reaction baits). My riend lost a nice one on a swim bait at dusk. It was windy until around 9:30 pm then it dropped o to the normal levels. Some o the ish looked pretty skinny - spawned out.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I haven't posted since 5-24 and have received 27 emails inquiring as to my health and so orth, I also received 3 phone calls so here is what happened. on the 24th I called a "riend" who ishes oroville with his team partner. I had him out on Shasta in April o 2001 to show him around, his partner and he inished well and took home some money. I was assured that I could call anytime or oroville help. Bryce and I ished the won bass team events and inished 1/100th o a pound out o the money on the 18th o may so I thought I would give this guy a buzz and get some help. I got blown o by him and he told me that he and his partner don't give out any ino, he was not ishing the same day and I assured him that I wouldn't post any ino that he provided. I got no ino rom him and ended up cussing him over the phone which I shouldn't have done. I immediately called his partner and got pretty much the same story which was nothing. To say that I was upset would be an understatement. I decide that I wan't going to post anymore and the heck with it. Since then I have received the aorementioned calls and e-mails. They were all supportive and I thank all o you or your kind words. I just didn't realize that the ino I pass along was that important. My wie told me to just say the heck with those kind o people and go ahead and post. So, thanks or the kindness rom Wash. State, Oregon, Reno.Nv ( steve&carol) and the SF Bay area. Since the 24th I have been out 7 times or over 130 ish with most on jigs, ollowed by the MGM 151 curly tail and the Rainbow worm company's # 99. Last thursday the 6th ound me in the big backbone early at 0505 o 31 beore 715 am on mostly jigs and a rip bait. My spook bite was just not there, ound ish in 11 to 18 t, my best a very skinny 3.2 came on the MGM 151 in a 5 inch curly tail, went out this am at 0430 at jones valley, air temp 66, water at 17t and starting to drop at a good clip, ran out to the jones valley point or 7 on a jig, the biggest was a 2.8. Ran up the Pit to lat creek, water at 65.6 up there and only ound one on a ghost minnow. Started downstream hitting points as the wind came up at 0645, giave up at 8am near blue canyon when it got into the 40mph bracket. Caught 4 more on the mgm151 and the rainbow worm co. #99. Stopped at the hidden valley market on the way home or a cold coke and talked to Larry who also gave me a pep talk and said "the ____" with them people, so thanks again to those who inquired.

Barrett Lake
-
Water Temp: 66
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Decided to enter a report here...it's been blank or too longHad a tough day or Barrett standards, I got 14 LMB to 6.5lbs (on scales)...almost all on very s-l-o-w-l-y crawling (I mean 6-7minute casts!) blue/black pig/jigs, 7" lorida rigged dark worms, or drop-shot 4" dark worms, over rock piles in 8-12' water. I you went aster you just wouldn't get bit. Just absolutely no reaction bite except or one blow up on a buzzbait early..kept on trying (but blanked on) rico's and sammy's, deep cranks (DD-22+ chart-blue), blades, sot and hard jerks...these usually go over well here...it was smack in the middle o post-spawn.My buddy got 13 on the same except he got one on the early buzzer.A bad day here is still a very good day...most o the ish were 3-4lbs, a ew 5's and my 6.5
City: Beverly HillsTips: Post-spawn means slow ish'n! The water is a very odd greenish-brown...two guides deep and you can't see your rod...could bee a actor.
