Report: Top Water Bite was on!! got at the lake at 6am (Had to wait a bit longer for someone to open the gate) and fished the rest of the day till about dark. Threw Spooks ALL day. That was the only lure i used. Lost a fish early on at the point nea the docks, the fish still has my Bleeding Shad Super Spook, so someone might end up with a nice lure soon!! Spooks in Baby Bass, Frog, and just about any other pattern worked for us. we fished just about all the Arms. The Carson (I think the name of it is) seemed to produce the most fish. Fish were all very shallow. There is a lot of trees sticking up as well to throw the spook around. Caught a lot of fish, all throughout the day. most fish were over 3lbs and also caught quite a few 4 pound fish and a couple fish that went about 5 pounds.
    City: Lincoln

Tips: Super Spooks, most of the fish were goin for the bigger Spooks. Cast as close to shore, let the Spook sit for a bit, start working it and wait for the blow-up!

Report: It was a little tough launching my Ranger 520 by myself but it was ok. I fished from 5 pm to midnight and the fishing was good before dark and fair after. I used my favorite Chug Bug topwater lure and caught several nice bass to 3 lbs 5 oz. A few were chasing bait. I was fishing the Jackson arm. After dark I got 5 bites and landed 3 up to 4 lbs - all on brush hogs. Some were shallow and the biggest was about 15 feet. The half moon was bright and slowed the bite I'm sure. I should have stayed 'til after the moon set, but I had to go.
    City: Yuba city

Tips: There is plenty of structure to fish and weeds arn't much of a problem now. As I was bring in one of the topwater fish - a big bass followed it to the boat - THAT would have been fun! Water color is excellent and lots of old trees now showing to throw your topwater around.

    Water Temp: 81F

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished from 7pm until about 8am with the full moon. Didn't have luck with the topwater bite I've heard about at dusk and dawn. There was considerable surface activity between dawn and 07:30 about 200' away from the bank. Appeared to be bass chasing shad. Caught bass from 11pm until 7am at a rate of 1 per hour. No consistent patterns except the bass were caught mostly at 16'. Caught bass on dropshot, splitshot, B&G beavers and brush hogs, and 3/4 oz blades. Nothing on large worms or jigs this time. Fished in the shadow of the moon for the most part. The lake is about 35

Tips: With the hot day time temps, use sunscreen and drink plenty of water. Even at midnight, the air was still above 80F. Stay hydrated.
It started getting hot again at 7am.

Report: I also fished the full moon Friday night. This was a 2 part trip. One to go diving and retrieve a pole I had lost several weeks ago. After finding the pole we started fishing at about 7pm. Caught several fish on the frog one at 6 1/2lbs,5lbs and one at 4lbs. Other topwater fish were caught on a yellow and white knuckle head. They wiould not touch a Fluke this time. A slow retrieve with long pauses. After the sun went down we switched up to a dropshot and small tube setup. Caught another dozen + fish from 1 1/2-3lbs. Left at about 1230am.
    City: Tracy

Tips: Frog, cast on shore and pop into water around the left over weeds seemed to trigger the strikes. The worm fish were caught on 4/1/2 robo worms im MM3 and the soft shell crawdad pattern.Tube fish wer caught on the shear drop offs .Set up parrallel to the bank. It seems that the fish are suspening in the deeper water moving up to feed.

Report: The Basin Bassmasters from Loomis fished a tournament with 12 boats. The winning weight was 22.20 for the best five and second place 21.70. Most of the bass were cought in the back of the coves using frogs, popers and spooks. The bass are pushing the bait into the backs and having a big dinner. The moring bite is better than the late day.
The launch fees will change on July 7 to $22.00 for launch, boat and two people.

Report: Just a quick word to Danny, the previous poster. Amador is known for slow periods and fantastic periods of bass fishing. Don't give up - about a month or two ago I fished it for about 5 hours and got one bite. That's Amador!! My fishing buddy Rick Tietz (owner of Blade Runner Tackle and Duh spoons) hit the lake yesterday afternoon and fished 'til about 1 am. It was an interesting trip - we decided that the fishing wasn't great, but pretty steady. When we started about 3 pm, the bite was pretty good with Senkos and Sammy's (topwater). I couldn't get a frog bite at all and Rick missed all three of his - one a good bass! I lost one on the Sammy over 4 lbs but landed one almost 4 along with several others. Mid-day topwater is usually good in June and yesterday was no exception. It was interesting that the bite really slowed for us before dark - last time I was there it was great! I did get another nice 3 1/2 pounder on the Sammy by the dam and missed one more. Rick got a nice 3 pounder on a Gator Tail worm. After dark the bite was fair for bass up to 3 1/4 lbs. I did hook the "monster" of the night" around midnight in Donney Bay - got her next to the boat - we guessed how big it was - and lost it as Rick was ready to net her! Really not a monster but at least 5 or 6 lbs. She nailed a brush hog! Speaking of monsters, I was able to take photos of a young man and his grandpa with their two bass caught before dark - an 8 lb 13 oz beauty and another over 5 lbs. Photo should be on wb.com as soon as I get it to them. So, we ended up with about 20 bass in the boat and about as many "out" of the boat (ones we lost!). Maybe 17 lbs for our best 5.
    City: Yuba city

Tips: I got the feeling that the fishing was better during the daytime because of the smoky skies, especially with the unusually clear water. That was probably true for several days. Weeds, of course, are everywhere except on walls. The lake has begun to drop this week and that will move the the bass offshore. They probably will suspend a lot for the rest of the summer. The traditional Texas rigged weightless Senko is a good was to fish the heavy weeds. Wacky style will be tough.

Report: Fished with my wife in our float tubes from 5pm-1am, caught 19, nothing bigger than 3lbs.Steady action.Fished top water (knucklehead) bigger fish and of course had massive blowup when I was not paying attention (wathing the deer swim by to the other side of the lake). Weedless drop shot rig was the best bet . MMIII worms and Black 6" power worms.
    City: Tracy

Tips: My best tip is check your gear in this case the velcro straps that secure your fishing rods to the tube.I haven't been float tubing in over a year, so as I was watching my topwater sit I noticed something below me in the water, it was my other rod that had come loose from the side of the tube and sinking quickly to the bottom. So if anyone snags a BPS Bionic Blade with a Team Diawa TD2hi with 30lb power pro line a 3/8oz brass weight and a 5/0 hook attached I would love to have it back. I have had that set up for about 10 yrs and they don't make the reels anymore. I would be very greatful to get it back. If I only could scuba dive........

Report: went to try the evening bite after reading Larry's report which was very accurate.
On the water at 6 pm. first fish on a point with deep water next to it on chug bug. had a lot of succes with this bait. Caught a post spawn female on a frog in a cove in the transition between sun and shade. Found fish chasing shad and, of course, casted a buzzbait and got a 3 pounder. Also missed some and caught some on a weightless brush hog after dark.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I took myself to Amador to check on the night fishing. Since the mornings have been so cool, I thought the evening and early night bite would be good. Well, part of my theory was good. The bite from 7 pm to dark was great, though I lost more bass than I landed. There wern't too many frog mats, but I did throw my green Snagproof frog and landed one about 3 1/4 lbs but lost two over 5. Darn! Senkos worked well as did topwater. I was disappointed in the overall size of the topwater fish except for the frog fish. Bass were chasing shad up to the bank in Rock Creek - THAT was exciting to see. Some of the bass were good size. I had 25-25 hookups with the various baits before dark but only landed about 12. After dark I got a 3 3/4 pounder on a brush hog and that was about it. I only fished about 2 hours after dark however.
    City: Yuba City

Tips: There are lots of weeds but the lake is very fishable, especially with Senkos, topwater, shallow cranks, and plastic worms. The weeds arn't too deep. I could not get them to hit a spook, they wanted chugger type bait like a Chug Bug. Most bass were on points or steeper walls.

Report: been fishing the lake since 92. This was the worst trip ever. Lake was dead. Had 2 bites all day both were small fish.I fished everywhere and used everything. fluke was the only thing they hit. trout derby was going on while I was there. Heard a lot of them talking on the lake. sounded like they were having a tough time also. Algae bloom was realy bad. Saw some bed fish but water was just to staind. This lake has been going down hill for the past 10 years. I've caught some lunkers here but its to far and to much $ to get skunked. Far as I can tell the price is the same as last year. $32 for 2 in a boat.

    Water Temp: 63

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Well, got a mixed bag report. The good news is I caught some nice quality fish. Caught them a number of ways. Beds, d-shot, rip, jig. Hit my big fish, a 6'14 on a bed. There were bed fish everywhere, but mostly 2 pound males. The bad news is that Lake Amador is the lowest I have ever seen it right now and that makes for a very boring, non structure type lake. All the brush and drop offs are 50 feet out of the water. Plus, the moss is horrible already. Most of the beds are surrounded by it making bed fishing a pain. Also, forget fishing any jigs or plastics in the top 15 feet of the water column. As soon as it even sniffs the bottom it is loaded up with that stringy green stuff. I was excited to throw the Huddy and unless you are throwing it 20 feet or deeper be ready to come back with your whole Huddy engulfed in the stuff. I wish Amador would let youi know these conditions when you call up there. Drop shotting worked a little, but most of the fish are shallow and that was still tough with the thickness of the moss. I'm not joking when I tell you that it was really frustrating.

Tips: Like I stated, not a bad weight day. My best 5 went 19 pounds and it was cool seeing the big fish eat the jig, but just can't justify the money for the water quality. If you go, hope for a reaction bite, because plastics or jigs in the top 15 feet is basically a no go. Out off main points is you best bet. I would suggest going to Pardee.

Report: Entirely different than last weekend with staging fish stacked on points in 0-15'.

Now...Very windy, Water dropped 2' since last weekend, MAJOR algae bloom ("Delta Cheese") all over the lake now (Hmmm, Frog bite coming soon!) and Fish locked on nests now.
    City: Cameron Park

Tips: Fish nests with fish on them, don't fish the empty nests. Seriously though, I didn't sight fish, but would cast onto bank and if I got bit and missed, would cast back to that spot until I hooked the fish. All 2+ lbs. Couple followers on swimbaits too.
