Water Temp: 84-87
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I guided two good anglers at Amador Friday late afternoon/night and we really had a good trip. We started in the Jackson Creek arm, using black/blue Yamamoto Kreature baits, Dead Ringer worm and black/blue 10" Power worms. On a point - about 10 feet of water, I got nailed and set on a 7 lb 3 oz bass - sweet! After a few more bass for all of us, one of the guys made a long distance hookset and brings a big bass out of the water. A spectacular jump! I soon net another "7"!! Fantastic!! Beats his personal best by 2 lbs. He was using the Yamamoto Kreature bait. That bass was in the Mountain Spring arm. (See photos on photo page). After dark the lake went dead - just an occasional bass here and there with a little flurry of action around midnight. The quality was excellent however - many 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 lb bass! All the night fish were caught on worms, Kreature baits, and one of two on a Weapon jig. Our very nice July five fish limit was a shade over 23 lbs.
City: Yuba CityTips: Amador is dropping fast and is predicted to be down 30-40 feet by fall. The lake is dingy which means the bass will make short feeding movements to the shallows but won't stay there for long if the water temp stays in the mid "80's. Look for steep banks and drop-offs. The shad never left the screen of my Lowrance X-26 - looked like Clear Lake from last year. I threw some cranks and topwater - no takers. Bass were feeding in the 10 to 20 foot range - and the shad are hangin' at the 15 to 25 foot range. They should move deeper soon but may not if the lake stays real dingy. Depends on the thermocline depth too.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished saturday night (7/14/07) from 6:oo pm to midnight. Caught about 15 fish, no big ones. Cauhgt them off of rocky points befor dark on dart-head and dropshot with purple and brown worms. After dark, points near the dam seemed to produce the most dropshoting the same worms. Had no reaction bite and couldn't get any pick ups on the ten inch worms.

Water Temp: 82
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Decided to try Amador as I have never fished it and they allow NO watersking or wakeboarding. which I thought was a good plan on the 4th of July. Should of just gone to the delta and put up with the boat traffic. Small, muddy lake. Plus they charge for car, boat, and per person fishing. Total for three of us $41. Got on the water at 7:15 and started trying to figure out the bass. Black worms worked the best for us. No top water. we only had 8 bass and I got a 14# catfish that hit a plastic. Biggest bass was 4.5#s. Talked to the other boats on the lake and they were hving similar results, except one guy that said he had 30 bass mostly early in the morning and only on Chatterbaits.
City: brisbaneTips: If you go start early or fish at night.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished with a friend from 5 pm - 3 am on a Thursday, couple days before full moon, strong delta breeze in afternoon that died at night. Daytime fishing was slow except for dusk which was just okay. Night time bite didn't start up until about 11:30 pm. Total of about 15-20 fish. Most baits worked - only baits NOT productive were topwater and jig.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I love to fish this lake this time of year during the day. Too Hot! No pressure and some great fishing 2 days of a good bite on Topwater, Jerk Bait, Jig, and worms of course, with the sucess and the size of the fish, dont change what's working. We got out fishing from about 8:15 are usual starting time till about 1:00 p.m. we quit a little ealry, wife was ill, upchucked 2 times and still manged to out fish me. Our best 5 was 31.10 oz, Sunday we got out yeap 8:15 first point we went too, 2 topwater bass, both a 4.5 and 3.10 those were for the most part like the rest of the fish we caught, we fished till noon. A little bit cooler sunday morning tempature, had the bass biting. Lots of good fish nothing huge our best 5 32.8. I have to fish the day I'll fall alseep at night. So keep staying away its too hot ..
City: Topaz LakeTips: secondary points were working well and anywhere there was moss along the shoreline. Worming deep down to twenty feet jerk bait was working betwen 4-6 feet

Water Temp: 77-80
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I decided to see what effect the heat would had at Amador in the evening and at night. It had an effect - bad! After a few good topwater evenings during the cooler weather, last evening was dead! I did get 2 on a Blade Runner black buzzbait just before dark. After dark I only 3 - the biggest at 3 lbs 5 oz off the dam. They all hit 10" Power worms. I did loose a big one on that worm. Pretty slow as the bass adjust to the now warm water!
City: Yuba CityTips: There may well be some deep bass but not many showed up on my Lowrance X-26. Most of the bait is right near the surface. Frogs didn't work probably because the bass had suddenly move out of the shallows!

Report: Took a friend who has never fished before. We caught 4 fish to one pound all on brush hogs. Fish caught around sunset. Last quarter moon. Lake about 9 feet below full. Lots of weeds now but very little frog scum.
City: FolomTips: Avoid tournament days/nights at this little lake. If you go back a year or more to read reports, you can go this website http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/MoonPhase.html to see what moon phase it was. Subtract 8 hours from the GMT time zone times to get PST times.

Water Temp: 74-76
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I did another marathon at Amador - Thursday thru Friday morning. I started with a guide trip on Thursday morning - 6 am - teaching a good angler some of the basics of Amador and techniques I use and some good areas to fish. The morning was amazing - foggy, windy and cold! Great bass fishin' weather!! Because of that, the bass ran small, most in the 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 lb range. We threw frogs a lot but only landed 2 - missed several. Most of our bass were on worms - Dead Ringers and Power worms - 19 bass total. He was using some other lures as well. After a burger and a nap, I started fishing about 7 pm and the Chug Bug bite started about 8 pm. I landed 4 nice ones on the bug and one on a Brush Hog. After dark, I fished the "10 Power worm and 5" Power hog. The bite was good wherever I could get out of the moonlight. I fished until 1 am and landed 10 up to near 5 lbs - all spawned out of course. I slept for a few hours and tried again in the morning. The morning was nice for an hour or two and the delta breeze (wind!) kicked in again. I caught several topwater bass before that and even got a 3 1/2 lb frog fish. The cold weather just seemed to shut off the frog bite which didn't surprise me. After a few on green pumpkin Power worms and 11 total bass, I quit at 9 am, had breakfast at the "Amador Inn", and towed back to Yuba City - sorta wide awake!!
City: Yuba CityTips: It is amazing to watch the weather effects on bass fishing. The cold wind on Thurs hampered the bite. That evening was nice as the wind died and no east wind came up at night. The bite was good and the fish were bigger. The next morning was nice early and the bite was good. As soon as the cold delta wind kicked in, the bite was all but over. Amador is finally getting some color in the water which should help the overall bite. It has been slow in coming because of the lack of heat.

Water Temp: 75-80
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Full moon, cold evening and windy afternoon. Fished with a friend from 5 pm - 1 am. My friend caught about 10-15 fish before dark including a 3, 4, and a 5 all on brush hogs. I got a 3 around midnight on spinnerbait. We had 2 blowups on frogs and a couple of senko fish and that's it. Bite was hot in evening (if you were throwing brush hogs) and slow at nite. Another boat caught an 8 to 10 pounder around 7 pm, so the big fish were feeding during the afternoon/evening hours. We probably caught around 20 or so overall.
City: FolsomTips: Try to find a weedless stinger hook for your spinnerbait - I wish I had had one as I would have caught 5 more fish! I'm going to look into finding one.

Water Temp: 72-75
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I had so much fun At Amador the other night I decided I needed more of that topwater action, though I was worried that several days of cool delta breezes might kill it. I invited a friend to go with me and we gave it our best shot after 6 pm. Sure enough, the topwated bite did slow some and several bass missed the Chug Bug which they didn't do the other night. I think I landed 4 or 5 two+ pounders, but I did get one bigger than the other night - 3 1/4 lbs. My friend got a monster, maybe 3 or 4 inches - couldn't believe it. Again, the best action was just before dark as the delta breeze died down. After dark they were biting 10" Power worms and Power lizards. My friend was using a variety of baits including a spinnerbait which got him 2 bass I think. We wound up with 14 bass total, but maybe just a 12 lb limit. No larger fish after dark like the other night. We quit about 1 am.
City: Yuba CityTips: I really think the day and night bite will heat up when the weather finally heats up. The weed growth is amazing this year since the water is so clear. Heat should bring some color to the water. I did some cranking before dark too - no takers. They would hit a Senko but not sure we even landed one. Considering the conditions, I was pretty happy with the trip. Where is global warming at Amador?!

Water Temp: 74-76
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: After guiding Pardee, I napped a little and fished Amador from 7 pm to midnight. The same cool delta breeze was hummin' on the lake so I wasn't too excited about the possibilities. I tried worm and jigs with no luck and finally went to the Chug Bug about 8 pm. I got a nice 2 1/2 pounder and felt I could go home happy. I tried some other points on the Mountain Spring side and we pleasantly surprised - I had a topwater bite goin'! Landed 4 more from 2 1/4 to near 3 lbs on the bug and they were eating it! I missed two good ones - right at dark! I decided with that action I would try the after-dark bite. It wasn't great, but with my trusty 10" blue/fleck Power worm, I got three more - 3-3, 3-8, and 4-2, and missed 2 or 3 others. Soon I noticed heavy dew on the side or my Ranger and said it was time to go. Heavy wet air always kills the nite bite! But it was better than I thought it would be! A very pleasant 22 hr day!!!!
City: Yuba CityTips: This is a great time of the year for topwater at Amador! They sometimes will hit all day because of a lot of week growth. We may ever get a frog bite of the weather warms enough. Rip Ratl/traps right thru the weeds. The Berkley Power worms work day and night. Maybe bite a little off the 10" worms for daytime fishing. Green pumpkin and red shad are great colors!

Report: Fished 5 pm - 11:30 pm. Dink on first cast with shakey head + robo, and 2.5 pound at 10 pm on jig. That's it. Missed a few tailbiters. Fishing lousy because spawn probably over and lake was probably bombarded this weekend (day and nite). 3 days before full moon. Weather in middle of slow cooling trend. Went to Cat Cove at 11:00 pm and it was foggy! Parking lot was almost full when I arrived. When I pulled the boat out of the water at 11:30 pm, there was a 3 pound fish swimming right there at the launch ramp cement.
City: FolsomTips: This lake is a runoff-only lake (no cold river water coming in) so it warms earlier than other lakes. So the spawn here can occur earlier than other lakes. Keep this in mind when reading reports for other lakes - usually a different situation at Amasnore. After tournaments, it might be a good idea to fish areas close to the launch ramp because that may be where they release their fish.
