Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: I go to Calero almost everyday and fish right off the first dam towards the right side. There are some submerged weeds that you can see, so fish just left of them to to avoid getting snagged (unless your fishing a weedless senko or something). The senkos catch more fish during the winter than summer in this spot. I was using a senko but realized that the baitfish were very active, so switched to a chartruse spinnerbait with silver blades. I cast pretty far into the water and used a steady retrive and caught two 3 pound fish within 5 minutes of each other.
City: San JoseTips: I fish off the shore and stand on the dam for hours at a time. Be aware that standing on that dam can hurt your back due to the angle at which youre standing. Dropping a phone or keys or whatever you may have will result in that item sliding down the dam and into the water. Keep your precious items somewhere safe so they dont end up swimming!
P.s. If any boaters need a backseat partner for a day of fishing, please email me! would love to join!

Water Temp: 81
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I got to Calero around noon, decided to brave the heavy boat traffic and fish the submerged island in the middle. The top of the island is around 8feet deep, I fished the shoulders in around 12-14 feet with 7 inch/texas/pumkinseed worms. I stayed busy with over a dozen clones around 2lbs within an hour until the Ranger booted me from the "Traffic" zone. I hit the shoreline and didn't get bit for two hours.
Before leaving I decided to pitch the shallow weedlines with a Pumkinseed Hulla Grub and Finally...after 8 years of Bass fishing fairly seriusly caught a double digit Bass.(((It went 10.26 lbs ))). Totally stoked, but no camera...I called over a bass boat...he reweighed it 10.26 and then took a picture. Awesome day...still feeling all good. Mr. Davis.........PLEASE POST PICTURE, or send me an email. I'll make it worth the effort. Thanks dude

Water Temp: 76
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished as early as they would let me launch (8AM). Had a couple of blowups on a buzzbait but only one small fish. Pitched a watermelon colored tube along the shore for an hour before the sun got too high. Caught a decent one(1.5lbs) and a dink. Dropshotted until noon off the main lake points and caught 6 more. Biggest was about 3lbs.
City: San JoseTips: Summer is tough at the Santa Clara County lakes because we can't get on the water early or late. Sorry Zack, I have to agree with the others...the rangers might get the job done, but their rules are not in favor of fishermen. Santa Clara has to be the only county in CA that doesn't allow fishermen on the water early and late in the day...which makes for tough fising in the heat of the summer. We will have to fish 'em deep until they change the rules!

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Thanks for the report Zack. Very enlightening. The rangers are the folks opening the gates @ 8am and setting the rules. We would go you ask... to the same lakes, just earlier in the morning. FYI, we also have Del Valle, Berryessa, The Delta, just to name a few. Since it is near impossible to understand what you are getting at, I hope this helps. Hunter, what is a Blew Gill? What does Huckups mean? You must be using some inside Bass language.

Which I might add have to deal with the traffic.....Hey..how about giving a thank's to the Santa Clara Parks and Recreation.. To all of the Staff..that without them.. WHERE THE HELL WOULD YOU GO... Again..If you disagree.. write... Let me know

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I arrived at 8AM today and hooked up with a 1.5lb fish slow-rolling a spinnerbait in about 4 feet of water. I walked down to the far dam and hooked up with another 1lb fish on a dropshot rig. Around 10:30 the jet ski, wake board circus came into town with the heat of the sun and the day was done. I saw several other shore fishermen and a few bass boats but I didn't see anyone hook up.

Water Temp: upper 60's - 70
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Hey Zack! I don't know what you are using, but try moving up in size. If you're dropshotting 4" worm go to 6" worm or try a taxas rigged brush hog or jig. Also try a rip bait because those better fish are keying in on baitfish and baby bass fry early and late in the day. It's a lot of fun when a 2-3lb bass stops your lure dead in it's tracks. Also if you find any type of weedline at all "flip it" .
City: San JoseTips: Don't listen to idiots like Johnny "BOY". These are some real tips that should get you that quality fish you are looking for.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: caught 2 bass and a blew gill, the first bass was about 7 pounds cought in the back of a cove on a white and pink spinner bait. I also had a lot of huckups with smaller fish but they never made it into the boat
City: san joseTips: there a lot of shad in the back of the coves so use somthing that looks like a shad

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Launched at 9:30, out by 2:00. Caught and released a 4.5 lb LM on buzzbait at back end of Bailey's cove, over the weeds in water three feet deep. Unfortunately, this was the only bite I had all day. The no-bite "cast" of characters included the usual suspects, i.e., spinnerbait, frog, crankbait, dropshot robo worm (Cali Rig?), splitshot w/kalin's hand poured worm, senko, baby brush hog, spook, swimbait, etc. Fishing was very difficult today at Calero. I ran into another fisherman who felt the slow fishing could be due to Calero's fluctuating water level during the last week or so. (I can't remember if he said up or down.) It was nice not having to battle the wind today...fairly calm conditions until about 1 p.m. when it got a little breezy but not too bad. A good day to be on the water! Note: Saw two other LM's landed by bank fishermen using the dropshot. One fish was a dink, the other appeared to be around 3lbs.
City: Santa ClaraTips: Couldn't figure out a pattern so can't really offer any credible advice on how to catch em. However, if you are easily annoyed by water skiers and jet skis, you may want to consider fishing somewhere other than Calero this holiday weekend. Had a holiday-like crowd there today (Thursday).

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: ZACK,
Learn English and use a darthead/4"senko on points with rocks. 12 to 25 feet deep will keep you out of the green slime and get you better quality fish.
City: San JoseTips: When it's windy try anchoring within reach of points and drops.

Report: Green..everything is green.. weed line... I call it SMAA... slimy green.. messes up everything... as far as drop shotting.. I"m still throwing crank bait's... went to a deeper.. and started to get some bigger fish..ya right...Nothing of size..Numbers ok..dink's smallest . my bait was bigger..nothing to even mention..I think that with this wheather..early or late..wind is a factor...I still have to figure this year out...Thanks
City: morgan hillTips: Hey..If any one has an idea.. sure.. brushhog's. been there..senko's? Dropshotting ? What.. in this wind"? how the hell do you maintain..nope..I will figure it out this weekend I hope...going to Lexington..the windy one...trying that..A question to all of ya.. the green slime. at the weed line.. No matter what ya throw..it is there and I know you all will agree..damn..ya flick it... Have a great day and fish safe my freind's..

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: They have been letting more and more water in, keeping this lake around 77% full. The fishing hasn't been too great recently, but don't let it deter you... once the temperature comes back up you should have more luck.
Tips: There are plenty of baitfish, look for them and fish accordingly

Report: Idiot? All because I said to dropshot? Forget this board ... you guys are something. Zack, they are dumping loads of water in to the lake right now messing up the water temp. Wait until they stop transfering water - give it a couple of days to warm the water - hit the lake and give greens advice a try. Good luck!

City: san joseTips: Tip of the day.... relax and enjoy.. and remember to thank to ranger's for keeping it safe for us... Oh another tip.. why don't they open Calero at 5.30 am so we can fish and get the hell out of there before all the jet skier's and wake boarder's come in....not fun to be a "bobber"..Take care and fish safe.

Report: Is anyone having any luck shallow (less than 10 feet)? If so do you have any lure recommendations that have been working lately. I haven't fished here in about a month and a half and am looking to make a shore fishing trip sometime next week.
