Water Temp: 72 degrees
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I fished Calero east from the launch ramp all the way to Cherry Cove from 9:00 A.M. til 6:30 P.M., the fishing was consistent with 14 fish ranging from 10"-19" until 12:30 when the bite shut out. The fishing picked up again around 3:00. They were caught a green pumpkin split shot worm fished in 15-30 foot of water. I hope my report will help you to have even greater success! Good Luck!
City: Los GatosTips: It seems that the fish are going into the Fall bite mode, (with outside temperature being in the low 80's) the fish are moving up into the shallower water. Don't be affraid to fish to shallow!

Report: It was a little better out there today than last time, but still lots of really small fish...whats up with that?? Me and my buddy caught 16 or so, with many of them being around 10". We each got a few nice fish though around 2lbs, and I caught the largest around 3lbs on a speedtrap. We caught some cranking outside weedlines on the speedtrap, but most came in 20-35' of water on c-rigged reapers and magic worms. Tried topwater first thing in the morning and nothing.
City: San MateoTips: C-rig deep and crank weedlines.

Report: With Striper action slow in the south bay, I felt it was time to fish Calero again, after giving it a break since March. Me and nutcase David C put in about 8:15 and fished till 3:30. We found an unusually tough bite for this time of year. We wound up with 6 small undersized fish, and 2 nice fish a little over 2lbs. We caught them on shallow cranks along outside weedlines, shaking small zipper shakin worms, and drifting reapers off points. Also gave topwater a shot early, and tried froggin without success. Moderate breeze the whole day, and really hot. Tough day.
City: San MateoTips: Crank outside weedlines and fish 20'-30' of water off rock.

Report: Thanks, MA, for the fishing report. Went out on Saturday and caught 11 bass all on topwater. Biggest fish was a hair under 4#. The rest of the fish were 2 - 2 1/2#--nice fish for Calero in the summer time. Fished in am only. Lost one nice fish--about 7#. Again, MA, we ought to hook up seeing as you are a top water fisherman too. I'm on the lake a lot. Thanks again for the tip. Good fishing! p. s. Nice to get an accurate fishing report now and then!
City: San JoseTips: Recommend a trailer hook on top water bait. Be patient and work it slow.

Report: Well all I can say is there are a lot of big bass in this lake. Because of all the boating pressure my partner and I were able to catch about a 20# for five fish stringer because of the lack of pressure. My partner put on a show this time and did he ever. Lets see topping the charts was a 6# fish, two 4# fish and a lot of 2 1/2-3 1/2# pounders. Caught a ton of em on plastics in the north but they weren't the ones we were after. Looked for weeds near deep water and fished all around the beds to find these hookless marked fish. The bigger fish were buried in the weeds!!! We were on the water by 1pm as most were getting off. Bummer for them the bite was hot!!! Threw reaction baits to catch the bigger fish, what could be better?!! All baits working but one bait in particular working hands down better. Because my partner figured it out I won't spill the beans. Just can't wait to get out there soon!!! If you see a blue and white Avenger bass boat stop by and I'll help you out. cv

Report: A friend and I got to Calero around 7pm and hiked around to Miners Cove. We fished spinnerbaits, plastics, and crankbaits. Each of us got a hit on a plastic worm, but that was about it. Water was really warm and there were no boaters out there, so it was nice and quiet. Saw a couple of other guys catch a couple on plastics.
City: SaratogaTips: One guy caught a decent one on a black worm with an orange curly tail. My friend and I were using june bug colors, so maybe that's the difference.
