  Report: Isleton Striper Trolling and plug casting has improved the last few days. Water cleared a bit this week and a few more stripers in the Cache Slough area responded. Trolling the Angry Eyes and Savage Preys is the best bet. Sturgeon anglers moved West . Catfish start to show in better numbers with Mackeral.
  
  Rio Vista- Shore bound anglers are scoring both species. The best place to score a striped bass or sturgeon remains Sherman Island in the area of the Power Lines, use Sardines or Shad. Trolling is scoring many limits stripers and occasionally, a 12-15 pounder caught. Savage Prey and P-line Angry Eye lures are key for the trolling anglers. Red White Classic Shimmer jigs around pumps getting stripers.
  
  Walnut Grove . Bank anglers tossing shad and Sardines prevail for an occasional sturgeon or Striper those looking for bigger bites. Drifting live baits for stripers cracking the 10 pound plus keeps anglers smiling. Trolling Savage Prey baits colors 8 to 10 foot deep is key as the spring push continues. The Dirty “D” is clearing its name and conditions are improving. Stay in the Wimpys area for best conditions. Best bet, Savage Prey and P-line Angry Eye lures.
  
  Discovery Bay Larger Stripers started to show a bit this past week including 25 plus pictured. Crappie and Bluegill also had a improvement this week. Biwaa Sevens in Bluegill and RedHorse patterns rocking the Bed fish are around. Most Blackie anglers are sticking with Senkos and Tail Slapper swim baits paired with Fatsack Swim Jigs, Wind and overcast this weekend slow rolling Fatsack Tackle blades and Strike King square bills searching ledges near sparse tulle flats.
  
  Frank’s Tract Black bass bite is at a consistent pace warm days only helps the Big Girls bite. Hematoma Beavers on over cast days also working well. We are seeing a few Stripers and Black Bass with top water and Chili Craw Red Eye Shad. Others looking to score are starting to crank Chartreuse Shad 6th Sense baits and Big Poppa’s are solid options. Keeper sized stripes are grabbing Bubba Shad a bit more this week and trolled Angry Eye baits.
  
  West Delta The stripers are here anchovies and sardines in many areas for bank anglers, Antioch Pier and along Sherman Island rd. Stripes to 18 pounds have grabbed baits including 40” monster pictured. Trollers it’s getting started on both sides with Red Barn being the top choice, if they aren’t there move to the Eddo’s Side. Chartreuse patterns are the best bet.
  
  Contra Loma – Black bass have been biting on artificial baits/lures and nightcrawlers around the lake. Try a AC Minnow wake bait or a Savage Trout fishing is still consistent on the east side, north side of lake or from a boat with nightcrawlers, Power Eggs, or mice tails. Too many bank walkers popping Bass to 8 pounds off the beds.
  
  Los Vaqueros Trout action best bet. They are being caught in South Cove and Oak Point as well as Cowboy Cove. The baits of choice for shore anglers is garlic scented PowerBaits, nightcrawlers or Kastmasters. Trout average a pound and a half but range to over 5 lbs. Light tackle is important for catching trout with 4-6 pound test being plenty. There was a 1000 lb DFW plant on the way. There was also a 1000 lb Lassen plant this week. With the continuing plants, trout fishing has been holding steady with more limits being caught from all around the reservoir.
  
  Del Valle . Black Bass are on fire with anglers reporting having caught and released up to 12 bass. Most are smaller and in shallow water creating their beds. Best bet is still Senkos, either wacky or Texas rigged. Also try a plastic crawdad, on either a half-ounce, or a one-ounce football jig head. If you do catch a bass, please release it, as she maybe pregnant. Remember that by taking one bass, anglers could be taking thousands away from the lake, so please, during the crucial spawning period, release any bass caught. Trout have been active this last week. They have been in the shallow water; anglers are having good luck on Power Bait, nightcrawlers, Rapalas, mice tails and Kastmasters. Many anglers have reported catching their limits.

  Report: Fished Big Break on Sunday with my buddy Tom. They predicted Gale Force Winds in the afternoon around 1PM but we blew out of there around 11AM before the wind starting to kick up. Was out on Dutch around 630 AM and the rollers were already moving in. Moved into Emerson to get out of the wind, with a slow moving outgoing tide. Between my buddy and I we caught around 14 LMB using wacky-rigged 5 inch worms (Stick O's and Senkos) in motor oil color and black. Largest fish was about 4.5 pounds with a number of 2-3 pound fish. My buddy threw everything out there, from crank baits to jigs. I even through out a R2SEA Whopper Popper but to no avail. The fish were only hitting slow dropping plastics. All were great fighters.

  Tips: If you're fishing the sloughs of Big Break, on a full-moon, remember to get the hell out of there before low tide moves in or you may get stuck. There are some place that are less than a foot of water. Also don't blow in too fast because there are at least 2 submerged tree branches that you don't see until really low tide.

  Report: Launched Paradise @715am at low tide...started in Columbia Cut but managed only a few dinks. Moved up to Little Connection and zip...killin' time for the tide to come in since we're not that good fishin low tide. Nothing on cranks or topwater though I'm hoping it turns on soon. Moved into St Francis and picked up a 1s, 2,s, a 3 and a 4....continued back to Columbia and picked up a few more 1s and 2s. Headed to Mildred (northwest edges) and again, a few more 1s and 2s. All on 5" senko-type baits...Stik-Os (Blk /red flk) and Big Bite Baits (watermelon /red flk)..bites were subtle in the morning ... line would just start moving. Toward afternoon and warmer water, bites were more solid. Ran back to Paradise and fished the section between the houseboats and 8mile road and picked up a nice 2.5. Senkos ruled but sure wish the crankbait bite turns on soon!

  Tips: Not qualified to give tips. We just tried moving out to 6-10 ft and looked for drop offs but still couldn't put anything together so we junk fished ... worked a stretch with cranks and topwater, then went back over the same line with senkos. Senkos got the hits. I coulda brought 1 rod. But who does that? Hopin a week changes things!

  Last week was a grind so I took a mental health day today.
  
  Launched out of Russo's at 8. Water was 62 degrees and stained but getting clearer. Probably 2'+ visibility. Fished inside the islands, protected coves, looking for spawners. Got a bunch of bites early on but couldn't set the hook. Caught some small ones then a 3#, few more small ones then a 5#. Great day out on the water. Weather was perfect, warm and no wind (when you got a tin boat, no wind is perfect). Felt like I had the whole place to myself.

  Report: So fished again TBT not with the same luck, our big fish were not biting for us. Last week hot and sunny caught 25lbs on the buzz bait in 1-5 ft of water on the flats with shade and something different (log, launch ramp, weeds, etc.). Sunday rainy and overcast, we caught em just no size, biggest 3.1. Tried the buzz, caught 6 around 2, but the senko was getting bit. We lost some fish at the boat going around 4 from 10+ ft on senko. Moved to another stretch no one around, made the mistake of trying the shallow bite again for only little guys. Just about to cross to other side to fish a deep tree I know about then boom another boat pulls right on it and sticks two 5's right in front of us. Demoralizing! We just didn't put it together. Oh well that's fishing the CA Delta.

  Tips: Don't get rattled, keep fishing hard. (Might be more of a tip for me)

  Report: I don't usually write reports because I am strictly a fun fisherman. I am not a circuit tournament angler so I don't have any notions that my views or experiences are worthy of the more skilled anglers who use this site. I do however do a little bit of research to try my best and lay out my trip, that is the reason I am sharing this report. I am one of among many other guys in my group who compete against each other for bragging rights. We all share information so we can have better experiences on the water just like a group of family or friends, this years trip was no different. Ten boats with 23 anglers out of B&W Resort for the week looking for fun.
  
  North Delta water up above Tower Park and around Walnut Grove looked stellar with clear water 4-6' water temps 63-66 and perfect looking conditions. We managed a few decent fish here and there in some dead end sloughs and in the main channel but never really put anything together that was consistant. Every day we manged to catch 'em but not the way we wanted to get on 'em decent. Fished Whites, upper and lower Franks, Mildred, Disco etc for basically the same so-so results all junk fishing. Best part was visiting Whimpy's and Rusty Porthole during the low-low one day and the Windmill Cove on few others. We spread out and fished hard all day every day and up until dark in all directions.
  
  We finally found an area that wanted to bite solid. The water was dirty brown with water temps up to 68-70 degrees in the late afternoon unlike anywhere else we visited on the whole Delta system. It was well worth the wait becaused we ended up hosing them good. The main area was fourteen mile and disappointment with one certain unique stretch just on fire for three solid days for five or six boats before we had to leave putting out fish well in the upper size catagory. I feel like we missed it by only a week or so or perhaps one moon phase or maybe even only by a couple days? What we saw there was good!
  
  Wehad a great time barbecueing dinner everyday on the levy sharing our daily experiences and telling a few lies. Like any goog trip it ended up coming to an end with more great memories made. I would post a few pics if I knew how but I dont? Hope this report finds you all well and helps a little bit as it did for us. Go get ya sum! Big Ed!

  Report: Launched out of Orwood at 09:00. Tide was almost out. Headed to Mildred Island. The wind was brutal. Up to two foot swells with large white caps. Scouted the area for calm water, found the south east side of tules to be better but water was muddy. Maybe too muddy. Tried various types of top water, jigs, and worms. Tried various depths. Tried wind swept side, even against the rip rap. Didn't try any baits. I think that would have been a better bet. Hope you have better luck.

  Tips: On a good note, the bank wild flowers are beautiful.

  Report: Still muddy out there in Big Break. Caught a small shaker striped bass at the entry to Dutchon a silver rattle trap, then three 3 large mouth bass in the 2-3 pound range—throwing wacky rigged worms in the slews. No wind that day, got up to 88 degrees by 2PM- started the day at 7AM with 2 hours left of outgoing tide. I can't believe how much vegetation is choking off some of the back slews.

  Tips: Fish often

  Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

  Report: Launched out of wimpy's at bottom of the tide ran down and fished around the opening to hog slough throwing a spinner bait, no luck. Went down further and the it around the island above sycamore and stuck 2 little guys biggest was 2.5 headed into sycamore and switched to a 8.5" paddle tail looking for some better quality fish . Slow rolled it on the wind blown side of the bank in 6-10ft. Started getting bites right away, fished the last 2miles of the slough and boated 4 fish. Biggest was 5-6, that looked like she swallowed a football. The others were about 3lbs. Lost what looked like another 5-6lb at the boat. Missed a lot of solid bites probably because I didn't have leave the hook exposed. They were stacking up on the outside bends off the sparse tule clumps and on the points where the wind was pushing them. Saw a lot of other guys on the opposite bank not doing as hot.

  Tips: Follow the wind when it's like it was sunday. Seemed like they were blowing up on the bank.

  Report: Fished Tracy Bass Sunday, tide wasn't where it said, but still found em. Found some bed fish in practice, but they took too long to catch so went back to fishing for pre spawner's. Got 8 bites all day for 24.6 I'll let ya know how after next weeks tourney.

  Isleton Striper Trolling and plug casting has started to recover a bit from the dirty water.. Water temps raised a bit this week and a few more stripers in the Cache Slough area responded. Sturgeon remains the focus here. Diamondback anglers are heading to 41, Liberty and Cache Slough areas with roe and eel reporting success.
  Rio Vista- Many more Small stripes and occasionally, a 12-15 pounder caught. Savage Prey and P-line Angry Eye lures are key for the trolling anglers. Red White Classic Shimmer jigs around pumps getting stripers. Sturgeon anglers in front of Collinsville or Red Barn still get bit. Shore bound anglers are scoring both species. The best place to score a striped bass or sturgeon remains Sherman Island in the area of the Power Lines, use Sardines or Red’s Bloody Eel.
  
  Walnut Grove . Trolling for stripers cracking the 10 pound plus keeps anglers smiling Brite colors 8 to 10 foot deep is key as the spring push starts up. The Dirty “D” is keeping its name and muddier conditions make it tougher. Stay in the Wimpys area for best conditions. Best bet, Savage Prey and P-line Angry Eye lures. Bank anglers tossing shad and eel prevail for an occasional sturgeon or Striper those looking for bigger bites.
  
  Discovery Bay As water temps stabilize in the 60’s the black bass bite is rolling. Most Blackie anglers are sticking with Senkos and slow rolling blades searching ledges near sparse tulle flats. Others looking to beat the clear conditions are starting to crank Red-Eye Shad and Big Poppa’s are solid options. Keeper sized stripes are grabbing Biwaa Strout a bit more this week and trolled Angry Eye baits. Packman A-Rigs also solid options

Vince Borges of VBO Outdoors landed a 13-9 yesterday on R2Sea Big Poppa and AC Minnows are great options while spinnerbaits get the mentioned as well. Hematoma Beavers on over cast days also working well. We found a few Stripers and Black Bass with 200 S-Wavers and Red Eye Shad.
  West Delta Sturgeon rockin’ Jay Lopes is among the many guides and anglers has scored solid numbers of keepers daily in the Martinez and Pittsburg area.   Report: Got out on the water expecting it to be a good day. Warm weather, water over 60, 5-10 mph wind but typical Delta humbling experience. We fished on incoming tide 7am-1pm in Middle River. Water was 1 ft vis at best. Threw everything. We managed 3 keeper fish. Biggest going 2lbs on rip baits (bluegill) and rattle traps ( blue/chartreuse). Had a few blow ups on top water, but they really weren't committed. Didn't see any nest or fish shallow (except carp). My buddy did manage to land a 10lb striper on his fly rod, so it wasn't all for none.

  Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

  Report: On the water at 11am. Fished the bottom tide. Went to Mildred. Throw senkos, chatter, spinner, square bill and swim baits. Started on the outside weed towards deeper water then moved in to the bank. Found the fish near the solid tulles. Caught all fish on senkos. Only fish chasing was an 20" striper on a swim bait. Wish I hand more for you all just can't find em.

  Report: Launched 715am at Paradise and eaded to Columbia Cut where we had decent luck a few weeks ago. Water was muddy or very stained. We only managed an errant shaker striper while throwing lipless cranks, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, and wakebaits. Decided to try plastics and jigs....big donut, nada, nuthin, zip. Moved up to Little Connection and hooked up 1 2lber on a black neon 5" senko, lost it at the boat. Moved just around the corner from the sheds at Tower and picked up a couple more shaker stripers. Went up the Moke and same result only managing one shaker striper...and that was on a senko...go figure. Moved up to Sycamore and brother hooked up a nice one slow rolling a red/orange Dandy spinnerbait through the sparse tule flats... looked to be at least 2.5 possibly 3. ...again, lost it at the boat tryin' to lip it. Moved back up to 14 mile and the rain hit us so we left about 230pm.

  Tips: Not qualified nor do I even have a clue....couldn't find or entice a black bass to save our life. Don't know if anyone else had same or better or worse than we did. Sure would be nice to get a few tips. I have none to give. What happened? Any tips Cooch?? Anyone??

  Report: From Cooch's Fishing
  The past couple weeks finding quality fish up feed has improved with the cooler temps, rains and wind. Water temps have come back down to normal, 55-57 when launching and stable at 58 in the afternoons. There are a few isolated areas where the temps reached 59-60, but all we've found up in tose warmer shallows are virgin bucks looking fer someone ta give em a lesson bout spawning. Hey little one, it ain't time yet. We're getting close, these stable 57-60 degree temps allow them eggs in the big hens to mature. Much like the chicken eggs we all learned about in grade school, there's an incubation time that must occur in a female bass that allows the eggs to develope to the point where they start pushing her to the bed room! That period is definately here! Trips out this month, we've caught a lot more shallow agressive feeders up on the tulle edges, up shallow on the tulle island points and just out of protected current flows. We've also found a good number of quality fish off the bank, way off the bank near the ledge and drop in the flooded ponds. These fish are just sitting out in the grass, waiting to make the move, yet gorging when the oppurtunity presents itself. Our number one bait of choice the past two weeks has been a DragonFly Claymore wih some sort of big black blue gaudy trailer. That bait is nearly 8" swimmin thru the water, and it's makin a commotion in a vibrating jig the bass have never seen. It's too easy fer them to zero in and take that easy meal. Lots of baits are working out there, but if you will cover a lot of water crankin, weather it be a V-jig, crankbait or big spinnerbait, yer gonna find those 25-35 lb sacks yer hearing about in all the tournaments here the past two weeks! Oh yeah, toss that big Senko or Kut-tail too, ya just never know when a big gurl is gonna slurp that thing!
