Report: Finally the first trip out for the year. Ouch!! $173 for annual launch pass out of Ladd's / Buckley Cove with City of Stockton. I worked the main channel all the way back to the back end of 14 Mile Slough to behind Garlic Brothers. Jigs, Spinnerbaits, cranks, and plastics were all tried with out even a bite. Slow, slow, slow, and slower presentations. The water clarity just needs to improve. Garlic Brothers hit 60 degrees by mid afternoon.

Report: Don, left out some important stuff. I fish crankbaits just because I enjoy throwing them. But around this time going into March, guys are also flippin' and esp in March, they throw Senkos, flukes, and jig/pigs too...I just hate all the mess that comes up with the jigs. But I also do punchin', even when it's cold. Fish large weed beds located between current and slack current areas. I was flippin' tules a couple weeks ago and had two takers...one in the morning and one mid afternoon....only ones that day. But in March, I'd throw the cranks and spinnerbaits when your family gets up here. If they don't work, use everything mentioned and everything else in your tackle box!! Good Fishin..tight lines!!
    City: Sacramento

Tips: Try cranks and spinnerbaits for reaction...then senkos and flippin jig/pigs.

Report: Don, you're asking for friendly advice and that's what most would hope for. I didn't have much so didn't respond til I saw the response you got. Shouldn't be like what you just got. Here's what I know: It's been a bit slow during this cold/rainy weather and we're hopeful it will pick up real soon! Spotty for the average bassers and the good ones (guides, pro-ams, etc) seem to boat at least a couple/few and you'll have seen some just below your post. That's blacks and stripers. I generally like crankbaits, esp lipless, but I've seen some guys working divers. Spinnerbaits in white and crawdad red have worked, but not sure about this time of year. I'm just average and 50/50 at best. I'd think by end of Feb/early Mar, you'll be on to some pre-spawn bass. Also, though cold and sometimes wet, strictly striper guys are still out there using sardines/anchovies on a slider rig out in Frank Tract and their secret spots for stripers. When moving to another spot, troll divers like Yozuri or Rebel or 1 oz Cordell spots. If nothin else, you'll have fun shakin' with some scrappy shakers!
    City: Sacramento

Tips: You already know how credible it isn't....so take the red snapper advice in good fun.

    Water Temp: 48

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished Franks Tract, Calm water, FOGGY,UNSAFE conditions.Through Money Minnows all day, did not pick up another rod. Caught 3 stripers to #4s. I fished openings, points, and backside current.talked to 2 other boats on the water, they said they had not even been bit since sun-up.

Tips: I did not see birds working, so I fished what looked good. The Clear water is put the Bite on Hold. Hope the rain warms the water and puts a stain on it, then I will throw the Rattle Trap like Idid this time last year with Success. If you saw me out there yesterday,I was in the Blue Champion. You have my permission to fish anywhere I fish or Report. If you see me out there just wave, I release everything so there will be fish for my Grandchildren.

Report: the tournament director said that to avoid the problems of the pro not signing you up correctly or decieving the non boater. to sign up by yourself. i know what everybody will say. more people on a waiting list with more deposits and memberships being wasted. not a good moral or ethical way to run an organazation that operates on the local fisherman's memberships in my opionon
    City: anderson

Tips: its good advise ,dont give your money to anyone you dont know, and keep your money local. it will help your community.sign up early or dont fish .they will cut the fees in half again and there will be twice as many people on waiting list.lol. just my opinion for those who dont have alot of money.

    Water Temp: 47.5

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Launched out of Rivers End Marina on the south side at 06:45. Water was 47.5 all day. Started throwing top water for Stripers, nothing. then got one on a luckycraft jerkbait about 20 inchs. We also got only one Black about a pound and half. Had a two come unbuttoned . We went from Rivers End to Union point, Disco Bay,Italian, Victoria Island and all points in between. Saw No Stripers busting on top, hardly any birds overhead. Threw everything,Spooks,Jerks,Blades,Senkos,Cranks, jigs, and nothing seemed to produce. COLD fog by Union, then at noon it started to rain. Rained hard by 3pm, so we called it quits. Tough fishing, but hey we were fishing on a monday and had the delta to ourselves. It was fun running around at 65 mph with no Wakeboarders around.
We just need a little color to the water and some warm rain from the south to perk it up. I have never seen the Delta water so clear, esp. in late Dec. after several rains.
We will get them next time. Ray
    City: San Francisco

Tips: Wear your life jacket! If you fall into 47 degree water you won't be able to breath or swim.
