Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Went out of "Lazy M" early this morning to see if there was any kind of top water bite. Only 1 fish on a popper around 2lbs. Moved and fished Old River just outside of Widows, caught 3 more bass throwing only a "delta craw" speed trap up shallow ripping through weeds. Got into a school of stripers closer to Rivers End Marina and stuck with that for about an hour largest going 6lbs. All came on Delta Craw speed trap. Fished a drop shot for one more largemouth, all in the southern end of the Delta. Stuck with reaction bait and seemed to pay off. Not an outstanding day but it sure beats going to work.
    City: Pleasanton

Tips: Fished shallow all day, all fish in about 5ft of water, eratic retrieve with the speed trap worked for both largemouth and stripers. Also along tule edges.

Report: Help!I am haveing trouble getting the size and number of ( "punch" fish} I keep reading about on this site. I pretty well have the mechanics down of getting through the grass to present the bait. And I do catch some fish now and again. My biggest problem is finding a good standard bait to present. I have flipped the #420 sweet beaver until I'm blue in the face. Also chigger craw, cover craw, rage craw, etc. I try to fish as many points as possible, and cover with current. As I said I do catch some but nothing like I see posted on this site. Even though "punching" seems to treat me like a step child I do enjoy doing it. I just wish I could come up with some baits I could get confidence in.Thanks

Report: went out of rio vista to do some striper fishing so here is my report for you guys doing the striper derby this weekend Went to decker island sacramento side fish for a few hour and the water temp a little warm for fish to move in with the cold front and winter approaching looking good for striper fishing caught 9 stripers today all were shakers with a couple 8 pounders was fishing mudsuckers with no success stripers were all over the fresh shad i only bought 1/2 pnd of shad and ran out. today I tried something differant than the ol fillet shad with the double half hitch on the tail standard stripper rig I tried some thing i learned in mexico that i saw fishing the baja last month. Used a 1/0 gamagatzu and used 3 ft 20lb leader with sliding weight kinda the same rig.but much smaller hook , run the hook right through both eyes and toss behind boat the stripers were all over it compared to the old rig . i lost some fish but caught most of them. fished both stles side by side and the small hook out caught the large hook, fillet of shad. I think you spend some time on the water and have patience you should produce some nice fish. lots of moss in the water keep checking bait frquently and keep fresh bait on its a lot of work keeping moss off the line but worth it .
    City: Elmira

Tips: fishing should get better with weather coming in and cooling water. If wind is a problem lay up along sandy beach and south of it on the west side good fishing and out of that nasty north wind C YA on the water PLASTICMAN1

    Water Temp: 74

Report: Launched at Big Break Marina Saturday morning before the sun came up at 6 am. I was with two other anglers. Both were experienced bass fisherman but neither have targeted striped bass out on the California Delta. Just as the sun was coming up the tide turned and started rising. We exited the marina and immediately started seeing smaller sized stripers busting smelt on the surface. Throwing topwater lures by the boils, we each caught a few 3-7 pounders. Poppers, Vixens, and Lunker Punkers all were working. The tide was moving along pretty well, and so were the fish. We would get a double hook up and next thing you know, the school of fish was 200 yards away. The area we fished had a huge flat with a deeper little ditch running through the middle of it. During the early morning the fish were quite scattered because of the low light conditions. The water was super clear (5-6 ft), the light morning breeze dyed and the sun got higher in the sky, most of the fish pulled out to the deeper ditch. Before leaving that spot at 9am, we were already at 10 stripers and 3 largemouth. Our next stop was Sherman Island. The tide was middle incoming and the water was a little more stained (2-3 ft.). Because of the hot calm conditions, I stayed off the flats, and concentrated on the openings near the main channel. Areas with hard bottom and current were key. We caught another 8 schoolie size stripers on hair jigs and fish trap swimbaits. By noon the tide peaked and it was close to 100 degrees out. The outgoing tide was moving extremely slow, so we decided to switch gears and bring out the flipping rods for largemouth bass. Flipping Brush Hogs, Beavers, and Senkos, we each caught one two pounder flippin tules by Eddo

Report: This was my first non-salmon fishing trip on the Delta. My friend and I left Ladds at 9am and we fished rip rap, and tules, piers and all manner of cover. most of our luck transpired at the main channel point at ladds with a lipless crankbait quickly netting us 3-4 small stripper. A nice start, but we failed to establish a pattern. we were on the rising tide and left shortly after high tide.

    Water Temp: 70's

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Was out on Saturday with 2 clients and caught about 15 stripers on Pencil poppers in the Big Break and Sherman lake. Started about 6:00am with the outgoing tide and left at Noon when it bottomed out. The biggest was only 4.5 pounds but the action was nonstop for the fist three hours of the tide. We had some nice fish bust on the baits but did not hook up. The wind was putting a small chop on the water which may have lead to fish missing the bait at times. Should be more fish moving into the system every day.
    City: Sacramento

Tips: Never stop your topwater if you get a hit. Just keep it going and they will hit it all the way to the boat.

Report: Fished Brannan Isle from 6:00AM - 1:00PM. Only caught one dink on a craw-colored crankbait in first 10 minutes, used soft plastics rest of the day with no luck, should have used crankbait or spinnerbait. Ended up catching a few small stripers on cut bait, just to feel something on my line...LOL!
