Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: We had a NEWBASS draw tournament on 9/28 on lake Camamche. The wind was blowing be or we put on the water and did notlet up till just beor we weighted in. We had 17 boatsand just 10 managed to get a keeper in the boat or the day.>From what I could see in the morning blades and cranks workedthe best, colors where white or red, rubber was use ater that, all colors and types. This was not what I would call a good day to go ishing. One boat did get 3 ish, 3 boats got 2 ish and 6 boats got 1 ish. The water temp. was in the low 70'sand you could see 1 to 3 eet into the water. For me the ish up the river were smaller than the main lake at this time. The 2 keepers I got to the boat were on a white crank baitbut lost the smaller oneat the boat. I had 2 shorts, one on a spoonand one on a grub. "That was one very slow day". Well i you areishing NEWBASS I will see you at the TOC at the end o OCT.Keep it clean un and wet. Rick K. o Ca. or CHAMPION BOATS.

Report: This is in response to Mr. Cliord Barnes's ishing report dated April 24, 1998. Mr Barnes, I have been ishing Lake Camanche or the past 15 years and eel that it is one o the premire bass ishing lakes in northern Caliornia as well as southern Caliornia. Now that I live in southern Caliornia I still make the six hour drive about once every othern month to ish Lake Camanche. All too many times anglers orget that the point o ishing is the act that we are away rom the oice enjoying the gret outdoors, possible with a loved one or a close riend. I have many memorable outting with my ather and best riend when the ishing was good and not so good. The point is I enjoyed each outing and have ond memories o them today. My advice to Mr. Brnes is to start ishing. Yes, dry the tears rom your eyes and and enjoy what Lake Camanche has to oer. By the way--three ive pound bass this weekend! Spring and summertime:Morning-- ish the coves and drop o structures o the river with 4 to sixinch pumpkin seed worms. Evening (i not too windy)--ish the causway with anything..Very productive during these months. GREAT COVER

Report: Fished the NewBass Team semi-pro event today. The weather was cool, mostly overcast, and breezy. The water water was very clear, about 10-12 visibilty. My partner and I only managed to weigh in ive ish or 7.53 pound. Which was good enough to get a check that paid or the tourney. We used light line and long cast onto a lat, with trees near the south dike down rom the dam Lost three ish that got hung up in the trees and broke o. Winning team had almost 14 pounds doing the same thing we were. Big is or the event (about 80 teams) was only around our pounds. Most o the teams we spoke with said the bite really died or them around 9 a.m. tips: Light tickle with brown colored jigs or plastics around stickups and island tops.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: I ished at Camanche with a buddy o mine, and my sister. We ished the south shore, and in two hours there we only saw two ish landed in the whole area. There were about 250 people ishing the area. All we ever hear is the big ish that are caught. I am here to tell the truth, Camanche is the worst ishing I have ever seen in my lie. I I wanted ishing that sucked that bad I could o saved 10 dollars and ished Folsom. Sorry people, but the truth shall set you ree. Camanche is a conspiracy, I would like to know how much people are paid to say they caught ish at Camanche. Come to think o it, the two ish I saw caught in the pond were not moving when they were landed. I could do the same thing spending 5 dollars at Raley's, and putting a ish on myine and casting it out and reeling it in and jumping up and down. CAMANCHE SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

One on black jig with blue plastic rog trailer, broke the hook on the jig when I set the hook ona ive pounder that got away. These two were at the edge oa submerged clump o trees in the back end o a eeder creek cove.Caught three on red shad Culprit worms, texas rigged with no weight. Report: What a beautiul day to be on the water! Only caught two 1#ers; one o a rocky point in 10' o water and the other o a bush in the back o a cove in 10' o water. Both were caught on a Yamamoto twintail grub, rootbeer w/green lake. Fished deeper withjigs but didn't hookup. I was suprised to see such clear water ater all the rainsand runo. I guess Camanche doesn't have the soil type that muddies the lake like, say, Lake Sonoma has. The lake level is 15' down rom ull pool and drawing down each dy. Don't know when they will stop the drawdown.

Report: Just wanted to check the lake out and get some sun. Felt i I could get 2 or 3 hits it would be a good day. Started in the morning on main body with jig and pig, worms. Took 3 ish in irst 2 hours. One was 7lb.2oz. the other 2 about 2lb. Fish were 30 to35 eet deep. Worked another 1 1/2 hours no ish. I then started moving shallower as water warmed. Started hitting ish in about 23 to 25 eet deep on island tops with scattered brush. It seemed like I needed to touch brush or wood then the ish would takthe jig or worm. Ended up taking 12-15 ish, most on worms about 1 1/4 lb. to 1 1/2lb. The larger ish came on jigs. Never made it up river. Ran out o time. Good luck.
