Report: Out again after I got off work... so on the water at 9:30 took my daughter to net fish. First fish 3rd cast 3# LM White spinner bait w/white blade next 2 on same. 1 on a jig off a bed, another off a tree in 2 feet of water on a senko .Fishhed till 12:45. Only 5 fish. 9.14 for the 5. The fish are up. I even saw some guys killin the trout at the causway at about 11:00. They caught 3 while I was moving by. Go get'em. Some big fish will be up this week. Catch'em & releas'em.
    City: Ione

Tips: Have a dark jig and a light jig so you can contrast the bottom. If you're bed fishin go where the wind is light, and have good glasses.
The reaction bite is solid right now for all the fish that are staging. I still have not thrown a crank bait but I probably should have, so don't rule it out. Good luck.

Senkos and spinner baits. All shallow. I'm sure the deeper bite is good but I chose to go shallow. I,m only submitting this report because I see nothing current. Be patient. Next week it's game on ! The weather is perfect. Take a kid fishing. It's spring break!!!

Report: Peter and I fished the El Dorado Bass Club tournament this last Saturday on a beautiful February day. We boated 6 keepers for the day on jigs either green and black or brown and black. Bite was very soft or just a slight weight that felt different then all the rocks, mud, wood or weeds. First place went to Gregg & Rod whose five fish total weight was 19.66 pounds with Gregg's big fish of 7.70 pounds. My partner and I were fortunate to take second.
    City: El Dorado Hills

Tips: Main body seems to have the bigger fish and we worked our bait very slow off of primary points or humps.

Report: The Sacramento Bass Wranglers held our first tournament of the 2007 season. We blasted off 8 teams (7 boats) in search of winter time bass. When it was all said and done, we had 3 limits weighed in and one team blanked. Winners had 5 fish for 12.96lbs, 2nd (fishing solo, boater had last minute cancellation) had 5 fish for 10.52lbs, 3rd had 5 fish for 9.00lbs. Big fish was 3.62lbs largemouth caught on a drop shot in 40ft of water.
    City: Sacramento

Tips: Most, if not all, fish were caught in depth ranging from 25-50 feet on jigs, carolina rigged plastics, dropshot plastics, and dart head plastics. Browns (green pumpkin) and greens (watermelon) seemed to be the ticket. One blade fish was caught early. That'st all for now folks. Check us out @ www.sacbasswranglers.net. Full results and NEW webpage layout should be up shortly.

Report: Fished a small club tourny with 7 boats. My partner and I had 8 bites and caught 6 keepers. Our fish were all 2-3 pounds. The key to our results was similar to NaCl's report. We fished dead slow and on steep dropoffs near a channel. All fish came from 30 to 40 feet. We used football head jigs, dartheads, dropshot, and spoons. Fishing was very slow and sometimes hard to stay motivated and focused especially when you may only get 5 or 6 bites. I ended up with the winning weight of 11 pounds for 4 fish which included one almost 4 pounds.
    City: Sant Rosa

Tips: Stay focused because the bite can come at anytime. Move your bait slowly...maybe a 1/2" every few seconds. The bass want a super easy meal without much work invloved. Give it to them. The real work is trying to keep the boat super slow with a super slow retrieve. Stay warm.

    Water Temp: 48 degrees

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: launched at about 7:30am fro the north shore ramp. Water was cold as hell, beautiful outside otherwise. Fishing was tough. Threw everything but the kitchen sink. Started fishing between 35-45 feet of water and got a few bites, but nothing. Went shallow between 12-25 feet and marked tons of balls of bait. Threw jigs, drop shots and darter heads, but nothing. I picked up a swim bait for shits and giggles and first cast got a bite. Second cast, got a 1 1/2 pound spot but came off at boat, third cast a 4# trout. Only 1 guy said he caught anything. Even went out deeper to about 90 feet and fished really slow. Came up with nothing. I was the only one on our boat that caught anything.

Tips: Hell, normally i'm better than this, but maybe even I need some tips at this lake. First time there. This cold front shut em down i think.

Report: Fished a club tourny with 15-16 boats. My partner and I caught 10 keepers to weigh in 12.99#. It was good for 2nd place. We lost to a team with a 6+# kicker. Our fish were all 2-3 pounds. We had our limit by 8:12 and culled before 8:30. We moved to our second spot and culled three more times. Also, lost 3 or 4 fish that broke off or shook off.

The key to our results was fishing dead slow and on steep dropoffs near the main channel. All fish came 45 feet or deeper. I discovered this bite during prefish and managed consistent catches on this pattern every time I went to it. We used football head jigs with small plastics and small brown tubes on a C-rig to catch our fish. Also, liberal doses of scent.

The prior three days were a severe cold snap but these deep fish were not affected. We should have boated 14 fish and, with a little luck, might have caught the 5# kicker we needed to win. But, under the freezing conditions, I'm very happy with 2nd place. Congratulations to the winners...great job on a tough day!
    City: Fair Oaks

Tips: Slow, slow, slow! Boat moves 10 feet = 10 minutes! Find your fish during prefish, then trust them to be there on tourny day.

Report: Club tournament. 15 teams 5 blanked. I was lucky I had one bite for a healthy 1.40 lb spot at 8 am.Water turned into ice on my rod eyes and couldn't cast until you stick your rod in the water to melt the ice? Boy was this a fun day on the water or what. Still no lites on the bathrooms? Guess $24.00 can't cover a little electricity before sunrise. Won't be going back any time soon.

Report: $24.00 for a Camamche run? WHAT IN THE HECK IS GOING ON WITH LAUNCH FEES? Isn't 10 bucks enough? $15.00 at at Folsom during peak PERIODS is very questionale in my opinion. At least at Amador they at least stock the H$%% out of the lake! But that dosen't mean you are going to bring home anything..... WITH the price of gas ect. turns a day outing into a hundred dollar adventure!
