Report: Had a un trip Friday aternoon til about midnight. Started ishing Senkos rom Konocti Resort north. The rods my clients brought were too light or what we were doing - as a result they lost several - one big one. Finally, one guy hooks a nice one which immediately takes him in the weeds. He tells his son to dive in and get - his son says "no way". So dad tells me to hold the rod and he jumps in (he had his swim suit on), ollows the line down, and comes up with 5 lbs o bass and 10 lbs o weed!! Guiding can be un, sometimes!!! We did manage to land a ew more. I got a nice 5 1/4 on a super spook at sunset. Night ishing was nearly blown out - the wind just got worse. We got a 3 pounder and lost 2 or 3 beore we quit.
    City: Yuba City

Tips: Senko bite was slow on previous trip, but was much better Fri aternoon. Look or shady pockets next to weed patches when sun is low - morning and late aternoon. Color didn't seem to matter - we used several colors - light and dark.

Report: The topwater bite is inally happening! We have been getting 2 to 3 ish in the evenings on original size Spooks and bone-colored Storm Chug-Bugs - always a avorite o mine. I like - I mean the bass like - the orange bottom. A ather-son team caught a 3-4 and a 4-1 Fri. evening on the Bugs - they were excited! Look or developing weed beds anywhere in the south end. The isolated ones hold the biggest bass as the mats develop. I a lone patch or mat orms on a dropo - BINGO!! Had 3 clients during the week throwing 5" Senkos in the aternoon south o Buckingham. The our o us used 5 dierent colors - all o us caught bass to 4-2 on every color. Tule edges and the end pilings o docks had ish. Truly an amazing bait!!!Night ishing hasn't really taken o yet - only averaging 6 to 7 ish. The jig bite is pretty good, day and night. I caught a 6-10 and a 4-8 on back to back casts Fri night. The son hooked two, but lost them. I am using my usual black/chartreuse Rattlin' Weapon Jig with 6" #159 Yamamoto single tail grub. Even the catish are hitting jigs - another one o those years. I caught a 12-6 and a 6-8, and a client caught a 7-4. They are un!
    City: Yuba City

Tips: Lots o pressure bites still on worms and jigs. I didn't eel the 6-10 - even with Fireline. Just saw my line move. Next cast, the 4-8 jerks my arm o. Be prepared! Check out insideline.net or all the Senko ino and tips you need. It's on the let column. Good Luck!!

Report: Started around rattlesnake Island at about 6pm. Hot temp but only one bite on a senko. Went lipping in extreme south trees and had a double hook up w/ a 3.5 lb or Kris and a 4.2 or me. Brushogs on 3/16 oz wt worked. Caught 3 more in trees beore dark up to 3/5 lbs. Had one get me wrapped and I could see it below the boat. Another 3.5 or so. Was getting dark and we wanted to get north to Konocti beore dark. Broke it o but believe I could have hooked line w/another line/hook i I had a ew more minutes. Dumped 2 others in these trees also that spit hook when they jumped. Just beore absolute pitch dark, I picked up my athers day present a 7' enwick and made several casts into deep rocks. Tap tap tap, set, caught a 6.2 on a brushog on my new rod. Resumed ishing @ 10:30 pm and caught a 4.8 in a marina. Kris busts a 3.5 right around the corner. Find some other deep rocks and catch a 3.8. Kris yanks a 3.5 on a carolina brushog. Got tough when the moon came out. Next ish came at about 1:30 am 3.7 lbs. Dumped another in 20 eet o water next to a deep dock piling. Didnt have good tension or hookset. Fished till 3 am..........not another bite. Figured best 5 went 22.9 lbs. Very enjoyable tues night!
    City: Yuba City

Tips: all bites ater dark came in top 5 eet o water even when boat was sitting in 20+ eet.

Report: Did a couple o aternoon-night trips Sat and Mon. Fish are not too active at night yet because o the cold weather. I trust that will change this week!! Not catching too many, but the quality is good - several in the 4 to 5 1/2 lb range - 18 lb limit Sat, 17 1/4 on Mon. I tried working a Rodstrainer jig with a jerk-hop motion I'm developing thru weeds, and a 4 1/2 pounder nailed it. I mean NAILED IT!! Maybe I'm on to something (probably not). That was on the south side o Konocti Bay, about 7 pm. On the way in, I showed my client how we ish rockpiles later on in the year. He got bit on a zipper worms and landed a 5-2. Wow, could Fall be just around the corner - I wish!!
    City: Yuba City

Tips: As some o the reports suggest, the ish have been sluggish since the water temp dropped 6 degrees in 5 days. Dead-stick and watch or subtle pickups (non bites) until the water gets well back into the 70's. Topwater by the weekend??

Report: We to ished the ABA out o Redbud, but our story is a bit sad. We lost the irst ish about 6lbs. Got the next 3 in the boat. Then I lost a monster, got a chance to see her beore she took me in the tules never to be seen again (10+). We lost one more good ish as it shook the hook at the boat. We ended the day with 12 keepers and only 14.29 lbs good enough or 15th (paid to 14th). Ah, the one that got away.
    City: Sac

Tips: Senkos in the tules did the trick or us.

Also, ound lots o 1/2" bass ry in some sloughs and caught the guarding male. Also, ound bedding ish buried deep inside tules.Mayday

Report: Where are all the great Clear Lake ishing reports? I wish mine were better. Had a ew night trips this week and sense a bit o post-spawn slump. We are not catching many, but the quality is good. I have been ishing in the Rattlesnake area and the south end. Black/blue lake brush hogs were the ticket last night as client landed a 6-2 at sunset and a 5-0 shortly ater dark. We both lost big ones a little later - mine was 8+. About a week ago, a 16 year old boy caught an 8-1 on a red shad Dead Ringer just ater dark. He was calm, cool, and collected while ighting it - I WASN'T! Ater some thought about mounting it, he released it! His previous big bass was 2 lbs. No problem - he's hooked on bass ishin'! He caught it in the rocks just south o Konocti Resort. His dad got one about 4 lbs. I eel the ishing will really improve by mid-June - i the weather will settle down. You can always live by a summer rule at Clear Lake - the hotter the weather, the hotter the ishing!! Death to the cold ronts!!!!
    City: Yuba City

Tips: Carolina-rigged baits, Senkos, and loating worms will help with the slime problem that was brought on the the hot weekend. It should lessen some as the lake takes on some color with more hot weather.

    Water Temp: 70's

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Got on the water @9:00pm. Very late start. Could not ind anybody to go with so I went solo. Very hot nightshorts and tee shirt were adequate. Fished ater dusk in tulies or 45 minutes w/no results. Flipped to a dock piling as I navigated around it and caught a 3lb at 9:45. Tried more pilings to no avail. Fished anderson and dollar Island.......nothing. Headed south to some inside rocks and dumped a 1.5lb at boat. Had several other pecks that I missed. Landed a 3.5 at 11:30 on brushog. My area had very bright lights shining on bank which messed up the bite in areas where I normally get bit. Fish in this area were in shade pockets very shallow. About midnight, I tried an area o deeper rocks that I had or some reason never ished beore that was a stones throw rom my usual spot. Bingo! Slammed 6 ish, smallest 3 lbs to 5.8 lbs. Broke my reel seat on biggest ish(now I can relate Ripper!). By 3 Am, had 5.8,5.1,5.0,4.7, and 3.5 or my 5 biggest 24.1 lbs. Lost no big ish, Finally ound a good line that does not break, big game lippin #20....thanks lunker Lar!
    City: Yuba City

Tips: 6"brushogs worked or me. 3/16 oz wt. Concentrate on an area when you catch several ish. Several times a second trip down the bank produced several ish.

    Water Temp: 66

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Wow! - instant summer!! First beautiul night o the year or Fri night trip. Caught 9 - 5 biggest a little over 24 lbs, pitchin' to tule clumps south o Buckingham. Clients only landed a ew o their many bites, but improved their skills through the evening. This seems to be the end o the spawn, most o the monster bass are out recovering and cruising, as I saw during my day trip Sat. "Big Dipper" Magic worms worked best or us at night. Day trip top bait was chartreuse 5" Yamamoto grub on dart head. We did a little sight ishing with a cast o thousands doing the same thing Sat. Client worked a ish or about 20 min and got her - about 4-10. Was he ever excited!! Ater photo, put her right back. Other client landed a near 2 lb black crappie on a white Yamamoto grub. Hummm - guiding or crappie? I saw 2 bass cruising in Knocti Bay that seems to be in the 13 to 15 lb range - WOW!
    City: Yuba City

Tips: I you need to sight ish - use a color you can see, especially on weekends when boat traic stirs up the water a bit. Chartreuse is a little more apt to trigger a response rom an agitated bass than is white. This is just my opinion. Have you tried a RED tube or grub? Try painting red spots on a chartreuse grub - that could really make them mad!!

Report: Aternoon ishing was very tough or me. Dumped a ish I saw eat my luke. No bites on rocks, against tulies, in trees, nothing! Fish started to bite about 10 pm. 3.4lb on jig, 1.5, 2.5, 6.8 on brush hog all o rocks. Should have ished tulies ater dark--only had 6-7 bites by 1:30 am.

    Water Temp: 59 - alling

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Had an aternoon-night trip with a client yesterday - the cold, sustained wind was beyond belie - even or me. We were barely able to ish some o my avorite "tuck away" areas. The wind got worse as the night went on. I was surprised that we had about 14 bites, and landed 7 - client got a 5-10. We had a 20 1/2 lb limit, all on Rattlin' Weapon jigs w/Yamamoto grub trailers, except one 8" lizard ish. What is important, however, is that i you are planning to go to Clear Lake this weekend, you better have plan B,C,D,and so on. As I write this report, it is 43 degrees air temp there, and the lake temp is alling. You may not ind the same conditions that you did on a recent trip. Most o what we caught last night was 10 to 20 eet deep, and all pressure bites - total opposite o last week. Like one report suggested, you might try staging areas or deeper water. In my opinion, it will take a ew very warm days and less wind to get Clear Lake back to "business as usual".
    City: Yuba City

Tips: Reaction baits MAY be slow until it warms up. Jigs have been working well day and night with the cooler water. You might have to slow down your presentations or a ew days.

Tips: My "pro dude" advice:Mario, you should try small purple rooster tails in Southern Caliornia.

    Water Temp: 60 to 68

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Went out o Red Bud. The weather was the pits. It was windy, cloudy, and cold, about 46 degrees. Stayed south o the narrows all day. Started by throwing top water. No interest by ish. Sun started to come up. Went looking or bed ish. Found a ew cruisers and a couple locked. Cruiseres would only kiss the bait or spit it out beore I could get a piece o them. Caught a ive male who was on a bed with an eight. Couldn't get her to go. Another male made it diicult. Pitched a zipper and tube around tules most o the day. Only caught two. Went to the Keys. Holly cow, it was loaded with carp. Saw some bass eeding on minnows. The water temp. in this area was warm - 64 to 68. Flipped, roged, and luked. Never got bit. Saw some others ishing. No success or them.

Tips: Fish staging areas till weather gets better.

Report: This is in Response to Mario Kelsey's ripping o Clear Lake. Obviously i you knew anything about ishing you would realize that Clear Lake is one o the Best bass lakes in America. Just look at the results o the BASS Tournament a ew weeks ago. I dont know about anyone else, but my irst trip there we didnt do to well, but on our second trip we hooked up some toads including an eleven and a 7.5. I just dont see why anyone would bash this lake ater having one bad trip, you can't catch them eveyday!!! Just my Opinion.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: This is an open report to Mario Kelsay o Sacramento...Ater reading your report, Mr kelsay I would like to say that it is my belie that all o the people who report here are being as honest as they know how. And some o these people are great ishermen....What you need to learn is that in bass ishing the conditions change in just a ew eet along the bank or in just a ew eet o depth or in a slight change in the water color or even the water temperature by as little as 2 degrees. Is there cover or no cover, is there structure or no structure, what type o bottom do you have? What is the barometer doing? What is the moon doing? Sometimes when they are not biting a cloud can ly over and the bite will start. Sometimes on a dead calm day a little breeze will make them bite....there are way to many variables to mention here......But I can gaurantee you one thing about bass ishing or any other endeavor that you enter into....You will never succeed at anything in lie i you continue to blame your problems on other people.I am a beginner also but when I dont catch ish its because I have not read the conditions right and or no other reason. The ish are there waiting and someone catches them on any given day, but no one catches them everyday.....I hope you dont give up on bass ishing or Clear lake because o this....It is a great sport and i not the best lake in the U.S. it is sure as hell in the top 5
    City: Benicia

Tips: ish hard all day no matter what you throw....concentrate on line movement....the bite is almost imperceptable....the spawn is not over. The constantly changing weather patterns have slowed it down considerably
