Water Temp: Mod 70's Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility) Report: Decided to give Clearlake a try this last Sunday. Been a while. I was not disappointed. Found and awsome topwater bite that lasted rom sunrise till about 10 am. Most were in the 2-3 pound class with a couple o 5's and one 8+. Patern was spooks and ripping. Fished the north end most o the day. There was not a lot boat traic up here. Fisged the rest o the day on docks on the east end ishing senko's catching many ish in the 2-4 pound class. All in all a very good day. Best ive went 21+ pounds. Fish the north end, no one is up there.
City: NapaTips: Spooks and rips in morning in shad patterns. A lot o bait all over the place. Senko's on docks later, watermelon and shad patterns.

Water Temp: 69 Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility) Report: I spent Wed, Thurs, and Fri guiding olks that are soon to be ishing tournaments at Clear Lake. The ino here will be general because o their upcoming competition. I wish we were in a tournament Wed - what a day!!! We started ishing topwater and cranks, but because the lake temp had dropped several degrees, I wasn't too excited about our chances, though we did catch a ew 2 pounders. About 9 am we Senkoed and drop-shotted with some success. The weather was warming up and I told them when we started that the bite might pick up later. Well, guess what!! About 10 am I was excited to stick an above average ish on a drop-shot rig - 4 pounds even. Soon one o the clients sticks a good ish drop-shotting which turns out to be 5 lb 11 oz. That made the day I thought! Little did I know that this bass was his warm-up act!! About 11:05 he sets on a good one! I had borrowed a net that was air size (mine had blown out o the boat) and when this bass made its inal jump at the boat I put the net under it and hoped that most o her would all in the net. It worked and I struggled to lit her in the boat. Using my three scales we did our best to get her to 10 pounds but he caught her a month too early. We were all pretty excited about 9 lbs 13 oz however!! What a beautiul bass or this time o year! Maybe I am crazy, but to put 19 1/2 pounds or three ish in the boat in an hour drop-shotting - well - I didn't think that was possible. I wish I could tell you how and where we did it, but I can't. We wound up with 26-2 or our 5 best and caught 19 total. Thurs and Fri trips were very similar with 23 bass being caught each day. We could have caught more but we spent a lot o time running - looking at dierent areas. Most were cranked, drop-shotted, and Senkoed. Thursday broke my string o big bass trips - the biggest was only 2 1/2 pounds. Friday we managed a 3-10 or big ish and another near 3 pounds, with lots in the 2 1/2 pound range. I hope my Friday client does well - we ound a "sweet" spot with lots o quality 2 to 3 pound bass. I wish them all the best and it was really un to help "prep" them.
City: Yuba CityTips: Thurs and moreso on Fri we tried rogs, again to no avail. I saw a ew mats o-shore with bait all around and not a single blowup. Amazing. There were balls o shad everywhere on the meter and we saw several dead ones loating. There are some colors that are working best, so experiment 'till you ind a good one. I went out night ishing rom 10:30 'til midnight just around Rattlesnake Island or un. What a waste o time - I got one small bite. I'm sure they ed sometime - but not when I was there. For those that are interested - I heard one retarded carp roll the whole time I was out! Again, no carp activity - no bass activity. It works or me (unortunately sometimes!).

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility) Report: Fished Sunday 9/14 rom 9:30 am to 3:00 pm and tried cranking irst but no luck and than went to a drop shot rig with a brown/green 4 inch worm but no luck and than changed to a 3 inch purple reeper and that was the ticket. I caught 14 bass to 3 lbs, the bigger ish came rom 10-15 t rock piles in open water and I got a lot 1/2 to 1lb ish o o low docks with lots o shade and they were in about 6-8 t o water. The great thing about 8 o the ish is that they hit it as soon as it hit the water and I have not seen that there in 10 years, lots o small ish but what un or the kids. PS I spoke to a guy who said he caught a 16.5 lb bass on a crank bait and he did not take pictures and let it go, I told him that may have been the lake record on an artiicial lure but he did not seem to care, he only wanted to make sure the ish lived. He is a better man than I because I would have got it weighed one way or the other.
City: San JoseTips: drop shot rig with 3/16 weight 15-24 inches down depending on how deep you are ishing and purple 3-4 inch worms or reepers.

Water Temp: 69-73 Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility) Report: I am going to attempt to combine 3 guided trips into this one report, so i you get bored, change the channel! I don't think I will give up night ishing at Clear Lake as I suggested in my last report. Monday night was really something!!! We had our irst "normal" cold ront o the all coming in rom the northwest and though it wasn't cold yet, the wind was sustained at 20 mph with higher gusts and my boat control problems were the worst in about 2 years. My clients were great olks however and the ishing was just as great! We were only able to ish in about 3 areas but they all produced biting bass the WHOLE trip. We caught 31 total (only 4 under 13") and our 5 best were 21 lb 3 oz. Our limit would have been much greater except or the act that one o the ellows was kind o new to bass ishing and lost one on a jump over 5 and another at the net over 7. I think he has learned more now about hooksetting! That hurt but he caught a lot and was thrilled to hook those big bass. The other clients big bass was 7-3 on my avorite combo - a brown/orange jig (Weapon) with a #180 Yamamoto grub. He caught that around 11 pm. My biggest was 5-5 caught just beore dark on a black/chartreuse Weapon jig. Please note that all our "small" bass were 1 3/4 to 2 1/2 pounds. You'll see why in a minute. Those bass ed non-stop or hours. Most o our night bass were caught on Berkley Power worms, lizards and Dead Ringer worms. Wednesday morning - two more clients - with the lake inely calm but cool and cloudy. We started cranking at irst around Rattlesnake Island and only caught a ew 2 pounders. I knew then we needed to slow down and ish Senkos, worms, and jigs. About 7 am one o the clients got his Senko stuck on a rock. He tried to get it o himsel - he succeeded - but instantly had another problem - a big bass nailed it! Wow - to see that ish come out o the water was thrilling. She was 7-2 and appeared to be ull o eggs. She looked like a big spring emale. I mention this because 3 years ago I caught an 8 pounder in Sept at the same spot that was beat up and bloody - as i she had just spawned. Hmmmmmm. An hour later he caught another beauty on the same color Senko - 5 lbs 5 oz. It was a special order color or them and I better not reveal it as they are tournament ishermen. We wound up with 26 bass - but - this trip the small ones averaged 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 pounds. Total dierent class o ish than the previous night. Typical cold ront action - smaller bass overall, but luckily a ew nice ones. We Senkoed weeds and docks all over the south end. Drop-shotting was ok, but not great. I was surprised. Our best ive were just under 18 pounds. Ater a nap, I took a long-time client or a night trip on a suddenly warm, calm, ull-moon night. Fishing should have been great - right? You guess it - ater 2 days o eeding - they quit!! We caught 9 bass and most o those just beore dark. He did manage a nice 3-11 on Windlower and a 3-2 ater dark. He was using 8" worms. We tried everything and everywhere - totally dead. Even the carp - usually active on a night like that were sleeping, though we did hear quite a ew in Jago Bay. Not a single bass bite in Jago Bay however.
City: Yuba CityTips: I knew our Monday night trip was likely to be slow or very good. The irst true cold ront (some showers at Clear Lake on Tuesday) kick the bass in the rear and gets them out o the summer doldrums. That is exactly what I think happened that night. I believe that was the most aggressive bite I have seen there in two years. Once again, as I did last month, I experienced how largemouth can totally turn on and within a day or two, totally shut o. One doesn't usually experience that in lakes that have spotted bass - thank goodness. The jig bite has been better day and night this summer than last. I have tried spinnerbaits at night quite a bit with no success. Crankbaits are working much better. Most o the quality night ish are still in 15 to 25 eet o water except right at dark and the irst hour o light. I can't remember clients getting average 7 pounders in late summer three trips in a row. Maybe that is a good sign or the all - maybe we will see more quality bass than last all. Lets hope so!!

Water Temp: 73 Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility) Report: I waxed my boat over the weekend and i this helps with great trips like yesterday, I will wax it more oten - or give up night ishing!! This report will be brie (ha) since my client is ishing tournaments real soon. He and I started at 6 am Friday morning and I can already tell it is September - lots o bass boats! We started cranking in the morning as I do every Sept. - I had him using a white-grey Norman and I was using a blue/chartreuse Berkley Frenzy deep diver. Though the white won (glad I gave him that one!), we had 10 bass and 5 or 23 1/4 lbs in a little over an hour! There is nothing like casting when the bass are chompin'!! I had a local take a photo o guide and client with 4 or over 20 lbs beore we released them - cool!! His second ish was the biggest at 6-13 and his next was 5-5. I managed a 4/14 on the Frenzy and a 3 1/2 on a Terminator spinnerbait. He got a 2 1/4 pounder on a spook to boot. He is an excellent isherman and really knows how to put them in the boat - great un! We drop-shotted, wormed and Senkoed (mostly docks) or the rest o the trip and wound up with 14 tournament keepers and some undersize bass. We ished rom Henderson Point south. Ater the trip I napped or awhile and then pre-ished a little or some night trips next week. I had an almost thrill as a 6+ came out o the water ater my buzzbait at sunset, but she missed it. Darn, that would have been un!! I had about 10 hits ater dark or the 3 hours I ished and landed 4 up to 3 1/4 pounds (crankbait). No big ish hits. The night really turned cool.
City: Yuba CityTips: The crank bite seemed normal or late summer as bait is everywhere. The rog bite was not normal or us - just can't get it going in the south end. It is improving in the north rom what I hear. For un, the drop-shot bite can't be beat. Some days it is like ishing Oroville or Berryessa, but the ish are bigger - averaging about 1 3/4 pounds. Imagine the possibilities or Clear Lake in about 2 to 3 years. How 'bout drop-shoting average 4 pounders! Nothing wrong with dreamin'!!!

Water Temp: ???? Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility) Report: Fished our local club tourney Saturday night and boy, I orgot how long that night can be (or should I say how long the next day can be). Had a great partner who ended up "schooling" me on the iner points o dropshoting at night so that was a plus. We started out in Lakeport throwing topwater and missed a couple o big ish just beore dark. How a 6+ bass can knock a lure loaded with laser sharp hooks 5 eet in the air and not get hooked when I end up with all 3 buried in my hand just opening the box still amazes me! When the rustration got to us, we broke out the dropshot rigs and put 4 in the boat on 4" worms beore it got dark but nothing over 2 lbs. We then headed or our avorite rock point and spent the rest o the night trying not to donate too much to the "terminal tackle gods" and actually caught enough ish to keep us awake all night. While I was throwing big worms and creature baits and catching ish that were smaller than my bait, my partner was dropshoting 4 and 6" worms and wearing me out with the net(which broke around 10:00 pm just to make the night more exiting). I did hook a good ish on a black blade but had to duck as 1 14 ounces o Ledgebuster went lying by my head about 3:00 am. It was a great night weather wise with shorts and shirtsleeves the norm until 4:00 am. The ish seemed to be pretty shallow, most came in less than 8 eet o water with my blade ish hitting in about 3 eet. We ended up at long tule point at daybreak and I redeemed my sel-esteem with a 3 12 on a buzzbait. We ended up winning the tourney with just over 16 lbs but it wasn't hot by any means. By the way, Lunker Larry was right, BUGS BUGS and more BUGS.
City: UkiahTips: Beore dark, topwater and dropshot did o.k. though the topwater ish didn't seem to be biting as much as just slapping it. Ater dark the ish seemed to move up once the bright moon got overhead. Dropshot bigger proile plastics seemed to do the trick that night anyway. We did hear a ew carp rolling (Larry) but nothing like we have seen in the past when the bite was great.

Water Temp: 73 Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility) Report: I guided or the irst in a long time on a Saturday night and saw some o my riends rom the Yuba City/Marysville area ishing a tournament. The evening was nice to all o us - not much wind, bright moon, warm, and lots o BUGS! Those suckers are hard to get o your boat when you hit them at 50 MPH!!! While our night wasn't great, it wasn't bad. We started drop-shotting some 4" Senkos and we all caught some bass up to 2 1/4 pounds. We moved over to Konocti Bay where I tried the new GULP Worms that Berkley sent me. Since I did well on the camo Pulse worm in a previous trip, I used the new 7" watermellon TurtleBack worm. About 7:30 I got a real good hit and boated a 4-2. I thought Berkley had another winner! Just beore dark my client had another good ish on a drop-shot Senko. A real good ish!! Unortunately he got a little too excited and it broke his 12# test line. Ugh! Ater a nice dinner at the resort, we went back at it. The hightlight o the trip was the act that one o the clients was a regular, but the other had only gone once with me and blanked. Not this time! Ater the moon came up, I put on a black/chartreuse 6" Berkley lizard on or him and he soon nailed the biggest o the night at 4-9, his biggest bass ever. He was excited! He caught our bass total. I had switched to the 10" black/red lake TurtleBack worm and got slammed at Dollar Island and got another over 4 pounder and a 3-10. Boy did that bring back memories o early '93 when I was able to ish the irst 10" Power Worms at Clear Lake - at Dollar Island no less. Those irst two bass however were 9-0 and 11-1. All the bass I caught on the Gulp Worms hit them unusually hard. I will be using them much more!! We ended the evening at Kono Taye with one or two more. Had we weighed in at the tournament we would have had 18 lbs 5 oz - give or take an ounce or two (by 3 am). Though my clients missed a ew, they landed 7 between them and I mananged 5. I was pleased with the quality but we could not get a real big bite.
City: Yuba CityTips: I was interested that the two 4's we caught at night were quite shallow - probably because the water was cooler. No jig hits this night. I tried a black spinnerbait quite a bit with no results also. They just wanted a worm or lizard worked very slow. All o my clients who insist on liting the worm o the bottom rather than slide it along the rocks seem to struggle more. Folks that I can get to move the rod tip ever-so-slow seem to do much better. Quality bass will not oten be ooled by a worm or jig hopping up and down at night. Just my opinion.

Water Temp: 7-1-73 Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility) Report: I agree with Curtis that the night ishing has slowed a lot, which is to be expected with much cooler weather. I too elt the water had dropped some 10 degrees. Clear Lake bass love heat in the summer. Unortunately or my clients last night - the trip was miserable - the worst wind I have seen in two years. There was no getting out o it and I am an expert at that ater dark. It really is a shame we have to ight that battle so much - how can one teach people to ish under those conditions? All o us caught a ew drop-shot ish beore dark and one o them caught one on a shad Frenzy crankbait. We ished some areas in Konocti Bay and any nook and cranny we could ind. The worm bite was air but we did better on black/chartreuse Weapons jigs - believe it or not. The biggest was right at ive pounds. Two more rom 2 3/4 to 3 lbs ell or jigs. We caught 9 bass total with a ew lost ish - one a good one. Day ishing will probably be better this week until it warms up.
City: Yuba CityTips: I know you are dying to know - ONE retarded carp rolled the whole night. Is my theory holding up?!

Water Temp: 76 Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility) Report: First night trip o the year or me. Started o lipping 3 ish about 1.5-2 lbs beore dark. Went to good deep area or dusk bite, which was nonexistant. First 3.5 came at 10:30 on rocks. Rattlesnake arm was stingy as the island gave me nothing. An oshore rockpile produced a 4.5 on a jig ater I ished the whole thing w/a brushog. Back to lower lake around 2am and 1/4 mile o ishing inally produced a 3.5 on a weightless lure. Boy, I hope it gets a little better. I have never seen so many boats ishing at night on all the spots I like to go to. BTW, the wind didnt quit till 2:30am.
City: Yuba CityTips: It is getting warmer this week.

Water Temp: 75 Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility) Report: Those o you that think I can't write a short report - watch!! Monday morning was very cool with og over part o the lake and a sti breeze. My client and I launched at the Oaks around 6 am and ished rocky areas around Rattlesnake Island looking or a big ish. We also threw a little topwater and some rogs - nothing - which didn't surprise me. This was the coolest morning in many weeks. I decided not to target big bass. We caught a ew smaller bass and I did lose a 3 to 4 pounder on a #214 Senko. Ater that I taught him how to dropshop and we spent the rest o the trip ishing a million docks without weeds and actually landed 50 bass - give or take 2 or 3. I lost count ater 40. About 10 were in the 1 3/4 to 2 1/2 pound range. Never hooked a big one though I saw them on the meter. We ished the east side o the Clearlake arm mostly - Pirate's cove, etc. It really was un - non-stop action! My client caught the biggest and the most and I think he had a great time! I know I did.
City: Yuba CityTips: I was dropshotting a 4 inch #240 Senko most o the time and I had my client using a worm that has been working well at Clear Lake lately, a Roboworm called Margarita Mutilator. With a name like that it better be special - and it was. Size didn't matter to the bass - my client used every 4 and 6 inch worm in that color that we had!! I ound it interesting that the 2002 spawn ish were in the 10 to 15 oot range and the bigger 2001 spawn ish were hangin' in the 15 to 25 oot range. I guess that makes sense!

Water Temp: 85 Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility) Report: Fished Clear Lake, heard that the summer was a great time or top water action, well I ound it to be a little tough. Spent all day throwing a rog had some blow ups but nothing to brag about. Hit the tackle store in Lakeport (Tackle It), Great people. They switched me over to a Rico. Ater the sticker shock I hit the lake again, hit the places they showed me on the map and Wow, what a dierence I boated 8 ish, the largest a 7. They turned me on to a crankbait bite as well that boated a ew more good ish. Thanks
City: Santa RosaTips: Try using Rico's, LV 500's by Lucky Crat and Speed Traps. There is still a drop shot bite but most ish were in the smaller class.

Water Temp: 79-83 Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility) Report: Wow, I don't think I have EVER ished two more exciting summer nights weather-wise than the last two at Clear Lake. The lightning show both nights was spectacular (and didn't run us o the lake!). It really was hard to concentrate on ishing!Thusday night ound calm, muggy weather with the clouds moving in about 11 pm and some rain. Fishing, not catching, was abulous! Friday night was windy, a little cooler, and ishing was air or smaller bass up to 4 pounds. As a student o bass behavior, I just can't begin to tell you how amazing the dierence between the two nights was. The bass were in an aggressive mood as darkness ell Thursday evening, and instead o the usual shut-o at dark they kept right on eeding!! Both clients lost a big ish right at dark and I caught a 7 pounder about 15 minutes ater dark. Friday evening at dusk, same place, same baits, NO activity except or bass up to 2 pounds (the 4 pounder came about 1 am). I should have a great report o a 25-30 pound limit Thursday, but sometimes olks just can't put them in the boat and this was one o those nights unortunately. Again, it is the hook-setting thing or these big bass - some just have a hard time grasping how much energy it takes or a swit, hard hookset. They lost three big bass and about 7 or 8 others. Shortly beore we quit one got a 3-10 in the boat and the other ended with a 4-2 rom Shag Rock (I didn't think there were any good bass let there!) - I was happy or them and me! We wound up with 10 bass in the boat and a 20 1/2 pound limit. Thursday we started throwing Snag Proo rogs and the clients had a great time learning how to do that. I didn't think much would happen with the weird weather and we didn't even get a blowup - in about 6 dierent areas around the south end. Friday my client had great ishing skills but not too many bass to test them on. He did manage to catch 2 rog ish in the back o Konocti Bay, but they were only in the two pound range. The rest o the trip was hard work in the wind - very slow as I mentioned - but we did catch 12. The 4 pounder was landed on a Weapon jig - the only decent bass we hooked. We talked to another boat with the same story - only small bass. My Friday guy would have gone nuts i he had been with me Thursday night! That is the tough thing about guiding or me - I am thrilled or the clients that hit it right and sad or those who don't. Bass don't oten provide a level playing ield or tournament anglers, guides, or weekenders! I was reminded Friday night, ater Thursday's action, sometimes it's not the anglers ault when things are slow!
City: Yuba CityTips: Many o you have been interested in my bass eeding - carp activity theory. I maintain that the nights the carp are rolling, or when they start to roll (around 11pm to 12am), the bass ishing is usually good (as a general rule). So, how about Thursday and Friday nights? You guessed it - Thursday night the carp were pretty active, ESPECIALLY around dark (hint, hint!), and somewhat the rest o the time. Friday night - a grand total o TWO carp were heard. Hmmmmmmm! 'Nu said. Another interesting thing happened - when we started worm ishing Thursday about 7:30 pm one client was ishing junebug, the other green pumpkin, and I decided to ish a pack o Camo Berkley 6" Pulse worms. I have never used that color. The bass hammered them. That's my job - to ind what works. I gave them to my clients and their action picked up. I used that worm because it had a little sparkle to it. I sure hope Berkley still makes that worm!! Both nights we used Berkley Power worms, Camanche Jack zipper worms and Dead Ringers. The 7 pounder was caught on that Camo worm. We ished rocky areas both nights - mostly walls - no rockpiles. The ish were 10 to nearly 30 eet deep. I think all the quality bass we hooked were at least 15-20 eet deep which is normal when the surace is 83 degrees.

Water Temp: 79 Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility) Report: I went to the north end Tues evening just to look around and see how the weed situation was - ugly! I had no trouble with my new Minn Kota, but did with the big Merc - had to get weeds out twice. I started about 6:30 pm and ished till about 9. I was ishing a green pumpkin worm on a ledge near Rocky Point about 7 pm and had a slight pressure bite - set the hook - then didn't eel anything. The bass had broke me o and I didn't even know it until she jumped trying to shake the worm. She was in the 8 lb class. Looked at my reel and I was using 10 lb test or some reason - dumb mistake. I tried rogs to no avail and beore I let I threw my black buzzbait near what used to be mats and did pick up a 3 3/4 and 4-2 bass - lots o un! Wed. I started about 6 am with a client who is ishing an upcoming tournament so I will only say that we ished the north end. We had a little cool ront move through Tues evening which might have slowed the topwater bite 'cause it didn't happen or us. We didn't even get one rog blowup, but most o the real mats we saw were all brown. We did catch 6 or 7 bass with the biggest at 6-1, a real nice bass caught on a worm. Our limit was only a little over 13 pounds, but we really didn't ish the whole time as we were running all over looking at dierent spots.
City: Yuba CityTips: I think we might have ished the lake on a slightly o day - who knows. I was really surprised at the lack o any rog bite - I guess the spray people had just been by. I you are ishing Fri or Sat, make sure you have lots o water - it will be hot!!

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility) Report: Hooked up around 7:00 PM and launced at 10:00 PM. Fished rom 10:00 PM to 5:30 AM. Had a good time catching a total o 21 ish biggest one 5lb 4oz. and one just shy o 5lb. Smallest was about 14 inches (1.5lb). Not a bad night lost a ew ish and had one explode on an Arbogost Hula Popper. Caught most o mine on Senko (watermelon blk lk and watermelon rd/blk lk) Flipped a jig or a while and pulled a ew out as well as a 10 in. plastic worm. I ripped two ish both around 3lbs. Threw a spinnerbait with no takers as well as a drop shot. Overall had a good night with around a 24-25lb limit. Was a beautiul night no wind and the water was like glass.
City: MarysvilleTips: Stuck to what I have most conidence in 'Senko' and had a good night. The trick or me was throw to every dock with light around it. Ever single dock with light produced at least a 3lb ish. And there are a ton o docks with light on this lake. I was pitching my senko, Jig and 10in blk/rd lk plastic worm right against the pillars. The two ish I ripped and the taker o the Hula Popper were on the outside o the tulls and weed line. Good luck

Water Temp: 78 Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility) Report: Weeds, weeds, weeds, - everywhere - already! I took two brothers Saturday morning or 6 hours to show them how to ish in the summer. We started out the the Oaks at 5:30 am and at our 2nd stop, near Rattlesnake Island, one o the brothers nailed a nice just-under 5 pounder. What a sound when the ish slammed the Chug Bug. We missed 3 others on topwater, then went to #221 and 214 Senkos and caught several up to 2 pounds. I then had one o the brother try a white Snag Proo rog and I used my usual "green special". We didn't land any but we each hooked a nice bass but lost it. Maybe because o the hot spell, the ish just didn't seem too aggressive. We did have quite a bit o action overall, it was a beautiul morning, and there wern't many bass boats or skiers. Wait till this weekend!!!!
City: Yuba CityTips: I like to work topwater around emerging weed patches now - that is how he got his big ish. These post-spawn ish are doing a lot o roaming right now, but will settle into a summer pattern soon. Look or areas o weeds that are close to deep water or a dropo - that should add to the quality o the bass you catch on rogs or topwater lures.

Water Temp: 76-79 Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility) Report: I had a very nice trip yesterday with a very ine tournament angler and his riend that was trying to learn more about bass ishing. I guess he had only caught a ew on previous trips but landed 14 yesterday! And he caught the biggest ish o the day - an 11 pound catish on a #221 Senko - near Jenson Point. He really was a happy camper and I enjoyed giving him tips all day - he was like a sponge! The lake was beautiul - lat and the weather was perect! We saw lots o bass in the south end up to about 8 pounds - most o them roaming and very ew on beds. Whatever their state o mind was, they were very spooky since the water has again cleared up - little or no algae! The weeds are growing at a ast pace and are spreading more and more. We were doing a "learn the lake" trip, so we didn't really try to catch most o the big ish we saw, though each o them hooked one o the bigger ish but lost them both. Without trying too hard we landed almost 30 bass rom 10 inches to a little over 3 1/2 pounds. We used Senkos mostly. caught a ew on worms, a ew on Chug Bug topwater lures (in shadows), and I lost a huge bass on a black buzzbait on the irst cast - about 6 am. I was surprised that I didn't get a ish drop-shotting, though I didn't try that much. I tried to show them many subtle areas that don't get much pressure and there we a lot o bass in most o these areas. What a un day to observe ish in the wild - saw bass, tons o big bluegill (even caught 3), giant carp and catish, and schools o hitch. We all had a great time!! I had a night trip last week that was kind o slow - caught 7 or 8 up to 4 pounds. Still a bit early or a solid night bite.
City: Yuba CityTips: There still a lot o shallow ish in the south end but they seemed lethargic and not interested in much o anything. They are hanging around rock and tules. We ished lots o docks without a lot o success. The dock bite should pick up soon.

Water Temp: 70 Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility) Report: I ished Clear Lake this past weekend, man all these reports are write on. Senkos and Drop Shotting was the game plan. We through all the colors we had, picked o a ew 2 to 3 pounders on senkos around docks. Caught a ew more Drop Shotting out in the tule breaks. Ross at Tackle It in Lakeport set us up on the color's or the plastic but also turned us on to the tail end o the swim bait bite. Wow, what a ride, my irst swim bait ish, an 8 pounder, Thanks.
City: San FranciscoTips: Rig the senko wacky, I didn't even know what that was till I visited the tackle store. It made all the dierence.
