    Water Temp: 75

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: In coming front, a little breezy. I got 4 and lost 1, buddy Kyle got 1. Nothing big but better than mowing the lawn. Cant wait till the fall bite. Mr. Greg, swim baits are not for the fait of heart. big bait=big fish! it will build muscles throwing a lure as big as a pork chop. Get a bait casting reel and a heavy action rod and remember. Its a quality not quantity game. Good luck and see ya out there dude.

    Tips: senko in white

Report: Caught 3 bass, largest at 6 pounds. We caught our bass on senko's and brush hogs. Tried throwing a sumo frog but nothing. A lot of carp jumping or maybe some bass. Fished the south end of the lake. Nice Day, slow fishing.
    City: Morgan Hill

Tips: Drift with a senko or a brush hog seemed to catch them.

Report: Caught the Big Skunk at Coyote 8/7/04. Fished the S. end in the PM (float tubes), soft platics offered into the abundant cover. Nothing. Likewise for my main man Jay Hann. Had a hit or two w/ no hook-up. Tried the weeds w/ a white Sumo frog, nada. It was pretty hot that weekend, the bass must have been waiting for night. .
    City: Belmont, CA

Tips: Persistence! The bass are in there....

    Water Temp: 71-74

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Started fishing at day break. First stop was 400 yards from boat ramp. Landed a 3-lber on a dropshot rig, right away. Then my partner John caught a keeper and at the same time, I hooked up with a 10-lb+. Took a little longer to land this one, becuase it bit on my lightest rod and reel I own, rigged with old 8 lb test line. We fished all day and caught several nice fish.
    City: San Jose

Tips: Take your time and fish slow. Dropshot was rigged with the hook at 8" up from the weight. I nose hooked a 4" curled tail or 6" worm. Most fish were in 6 to 10 feet of water. Fished on rock.
    No crankbait fish.
    No spinnerbait fish.
    No swimbait fish.
    No jig fish.

    Water Temp: unknown

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Fished the South end of Coyote for the PM bite, 4:30 to 8:00 PM, float tubing. Weeds are heavy in this part of the lake, so float tubers may want to plow through the marsh area at the end of the lake and avoid having to go through/around the weeds. Nothing on a senko, spinnerbait, or small swimbait for the first three hours, frustrating day w/ fairly high winds. Tossed a Texas-rigged Brush Hawg into trees, etc., and nailed a nice 4 pounder at about 7:50 PM. I would have kept fishing, but during the battle with the bass, my tube was punctured and I started losing air. I'm a pro, people! Had to head for the shore. So, caught a nice fish, but had a few battle wounds to show for it.
    City: Belmont, CA

Tips: Plastics into heavy cover, this is always a good strategy for S. end, see below reports if you won't take my word for it. For those of you who are frogging enthusiasts (I am planning on trying it soon), those weeds in the S. end look like paradise.

    Water Temp: 69-70

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: water clarity varied all over the lake. We launched at 6.30 and tried for a top water bite with buzzbaits and spooks at the north end. Those didn't produce. SO we went south and tried throwin' carolina rigged worms and brush hogs in the weeds which produced one fish. That was caught in about 10ft. of water. Was to 2 lbs. Then we went to some trees and flipped senkos and caught a few there. The fish were holdin' very close to cover in 8+ft of water. No size in the fish though. Then we tried fishing the main lake points midday and nailed only one fish to 2 lbs in about 10 ft of water. SLow day but new lakes are always a struggle for me. We were hopin' to hit a big one on a topwater bite, but maybe next time.
    City: San jose

    Tips: none for this lake.

Report: Well, I see none of my compatriots want to own up, so I'll do the telling. Four of us out there on Saturday night at the damn, and not one fish! We tried just about everything, and tried multiple sites, but nada. We blame it on the near full moon and recent trout plants. All the fat girls were full of planters, why would they want to chase down a facsimile? Still a good night of fishing with friends, as our Terminator/Gov'nor says "we'll be bach".
    City: SJ

    Tips: None, we sucked.

Report: Fair day at The Coyote. Worked the north end from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM in my float tube. No takers on a Carolina-rigged senko or a pig'n'jig. Caught one dink on a small Mission fish swim bait. Those Florida strain bass are aggressive! Packed up and fished the south end, caught a 1 1/2 and a two pounder on a texposed senko. Fish were relating close to cover, right up in the trees. Not too shabby, pretty quality, but nothing worth hanging on the wall. Water level is HIGH.
    City: Belmont, CA

Tips: Weightless senkos up and in the trees and brush, south end.
Try splitshotting a reaper in the shitter by the ranger kiosk, usually good for a few keepers.

Report: Slow day at coyote. I got 3 small bass, nothing to brag about. Carp are still muddying up the place. Saw a bunch of fry in the shallows, so I guess some of the bass have spawned? Lots of fishing preshure on the weekends, wish I could fish during the week.

Report: Hey Masterbassinator, it was a strange coincidence meeting you on the 14th at Coyote! When you reported you had caught a 5 and 10 pounder, it only slightly registered, then it struck me I had read your post the night before! I was supposede to go out the night you caught those two, but work interfered. It certainly was different that night we met, yes? Last I heard from you guys you hadn't gotten bit yet, and I didn't either. Went out to the damn for a couple of hours, but nothing. Crap loads of trout surface activity though, you could see them swimming just a couple of feet out even. I was comtemplating walking back to the car to get a big trout swimbait, but ten hours of work had taken a toll, just didn't have the energy. Went home skunked.

A good word of advice about the cougars, you might want to keep your eye out for the pigs too, plenty of those around. My dogs got my back when I'm out there, but I worry if a rogue juvinile malnurished lion were about, like the one down in LA, he might get attacked, and I wouldn't hesitate to jump into the brawl. What ya gonna do?
    City: SJ

Tips: Cold weather has probably put a damper on things, also getting into post spawn. Once weather warms a bit, should have a few more weeks of hot spring action though.

Report: Night fishing can be good, but don't go alone. A mountain lion was spotted by a ranger crossing the road by the entrance kiosk this week, and many more are sighted in the area every year.

Report: I was using a Texas Rigged 5" YUM Watermelon Seed Zellamander with no bead though and a Gamakatsu. First cast after switching to a Zellamander got the 5 pounder. I have never tried fishing for bass at night. It was really fun. Im going tomorrow night too. I dont know if the water was stained or not cause it was night but when i shined the lantern at the water it looked clear to me. I was fishing by the first picnic area after that narrow stretch of road where only one car can fit. It was a really shallow area. We were gonna night fish at calero but the ranger came and said that you cant night fish their and told us that we could night fish at coyote so we went their instead. If you have any other questions just ask me. Me and my friend fish anderson all the time in our float tubes.
    City: Morgan Hill

Tips: The Bass Fishing if you ask me is excellent at Coyote during the night.

Report: Hey Masterbassinator, what color lizard were you using and what area of the lake? I love to fish at night, I had my best bass to date at the damn the day before Thanksgiving '03, a 9 3/4 lber. Still haven't broken the ten pound mark though. Is the water still muddy?

Report: I went night fishing from the shore from about 8:30pm to 10:30pm with my buddies. I caught two bass, one 5 pounder and a 10 pounder. Fishin a Texas Rigged YUM Zalamander. I thought it was a pretty good day of fishing for only fishing about 2 hours. We had about a few other hard bites but mist the fish.
    City: Morgan Hill

    Tips: Keep Fishin!

Report: No, you can't rent boats there, in fact there isn't even a concession. You need to be ready to fish with all your gear when you get there. Trout fishing from shore around the dock will be OK now that they've stocked, probably want to try the old powerbait on the bottom. Bass fishing will be a little tougher from shore unless you hike around a lot. Still muddy, the trout fishing is still probably not that good.
