Report: Fishing was excellent! First my friend who works at the lake new a marvelous spot for big bass. We through out swim baits and within 5 minutes he hooked up with a 7 pounder. Although it took me about 20 minutes to hook up with an 8 pounder! Then we just went to all known fishing spots and caught quality size bass. Biggest being 3 pounds.
    City: riverside

Tips: Use castaic swim bait with heavy bait caster. Also use 4-6 inch robo worms drop shot or carolina rig off weed bottoms. also try spinner baits in the brush in the morning. my friend had luck with that.

Report: Rented a "delux bass boat" from the marina (Thank God I took advantage of the Wed special), Took off with much anticipation of a great day on this wonderful lake. Water visability was 15' + Fish were everywhere cruisers, lookers what not but NO takers. I threw everything at them I could. I fished top water from buzzbaits to spooks to frogs to sammies, nothing but fish were still busting on the surface. I threw cranks, traps ... nothing. I even resorted to metering shad off shore and trying to spoon fish. NOTHING! As far as drop shot every color I had in my tackle box I threw at them. No bites no fish! Water is dropping and shad is everywhere! Good luck at this fine impoundment right now! The only thing that made my day worth while was that my daughter had fun driving the boat.
    City: Castaic

Tips: Dont rent the boats unless you have to. They are loud aluminum and have trashy trolling motors.

Report: Had a great first trip to this beautiful lake thanks to Rick W.. He allowed me to hop in the boat with him, loaned me a nice dropshot rod and away we went. He caught at least twice as many as I did but I felt like I did okay. He also caught the biggest- 3 pounds or so! I really appreciate his kindness and I want to tell everyone who has ever been chicken to ask about hitching a ride- just do it! You'll never know until you ask.
    City: napa

Tips: Respect the boat and any loaned gear- offer up front to help pay expenses such as launch fees, gas, bait or even food. Thanks again Rick- guys like you are what make our sport so great!

Report: Fun day on the water with plenty of quantity but limited quality. Wife and I fished a local tournament. Went through about 25 fish to only have 12 pounds. Winners had a touch under 15 with a 4.8 kicker. Wind came up quite a bit in the afternoon but could not find a decent reaction bite. Most of the fish came on the dropshot, soft pressure bites or they just swam with it. 10-20 ft of water. Not sure where the better quality fish is hiding, they must be in a serious post-spawn recovery mode.

Tips: 6 inch roboworms...short dropshot leaders

Report: Went out twice with a friend last week and did very well. Both trips we caught several fish in the 5-7 pound range including a nice 8 1/2 pound female sitting on a bed. The lake is wide open so have fun.

Tips: Caught almost all of the fish 8-10 feet from the shore. Try keeping your boat approximately 20 ft from the shore and work a spinner(white) slowly away from the shore.
