Report: Jim Scarlet, you are a LIAR!

I indeed did first ban you as Wooch!
You begged and pleaded with Tony Stoltz for 2 months to let you back in. Upon doing so, it was stipulated only if you used yer real name and participated in such a fashion that the Forum is designed for. Your first day back, you went over board and violated Forum Police. You then sent nasty PMs to Tony, Gator and myself calling us out(the one ya sent me is now public domain at the top of the main Forum). Tony then BANNED you permanantly. You did not request it, that is a flat out lie, we have all the e-mails and PMs ta prove this fact. Further more, I have NOT taken any claim towards doing the recent banning.

Tips: You are a habitual LIAR! Have a good life!

    Water Temp: 68

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I was on the water just before sunrise up the north around rock garden. Went back to a place that I had found that went from 9 ft to 34 ft in about 30 ft. Worked a 3/8 jig brown head green pumkin DT and manager around 15 or so with one Blackie at 5.00 even in about 30 ft of water. Most fish around 22-24 feet.
    City: Lincoln

Tips: Work the jig real slow but don't be afraid to mix it up with some of the fish I was actually swimming the jig. No luck with any reaction baits except for 1 rattle trap fish and nothing on swim baits.

    Water Temp: 69

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: First boat out today, I was at my first spot by 6:30. It was very windy so I threw a heavy spinnerbait and got four fish from 3-4lbs in 1/2 hour. I tried a small swimbait and got hit but no hook ups. I caught 2 more on a very big jig, 4 dropshotting and 4 dartheading. Besides the blade fish, the rest were 1-1.5lbs.
    City: elk grove

Tips: Better get there early after the full moon, because the bite shuts down once the sun gets overhead. Water is cooling down pretty fast and patterns are switching with the season

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: It looks like Big Tuna and I waited too long to get out on the water. From Jim's report it seems the bite was ON. We headed out to the Granite Bay ramp around 11:30 and it was cold, windy and rainy so we decided it would be too miserable for a few fish and headed back home. The real deal breaker was a kayaker taking his sweet time at the one lane ramp while we waited in the cold. We'll get 'em next time.
    City: Carmichael

Tips: If you're launching a kayak at Folsom in the rain, get in/get out, get on with your day.

Report: Launched from Granite Bay.......Or shall I call it "dirt ramp located a quarter mile from normal shore line with a semi concrete ramp"? I'll be heading to Hobie/Browns Ravine from now on.

Went out to drop shot since the decent rock shore lines were a bit to far in the 5 mph zone. Picked up two fish in 20-40 feet of water on cloud/fish marks on the finder. Best was 1.5 on Aaron's Magic worm.
    City: Rocklin

Tips: Barometric pressure was high, fish when it's lower (after this storm front hits).

Report: Hey Jim- Can you give me some help on catching the larger fish? I am catching good numbers up to 3lbs, but the larger fish are eluding me. I am the one who met you yesterday up river.

Report: Jim, hey, I have been reading your comments on westernbass and wanted to ask you about the water level and safety. I live in EDH and Folsom is so darn close for me. I run a 21 ft Triton and barely fished Folsom this summer because of the water levels. I don't want to damage my boat plus I have been going to CL any opportunity I have had. Is Folsom lake marked well with buoys now? I want to go out on Friday but have been heading to the Delta recently passing up Folsom lake because of the water levels. Should I go to Folsom Tomorrow? I have not been out much lately because of work and being super busy so I have a opportunity to go tomorrow for a few hours and want to make a good decision and catch some fish. Let me know what you think. Thanks for the great post too on WB. Your email bigjimscrltt@yahoo.com did not work. you can reach me at makkyl@yahoo.com

Report: Fished from 6pm to 8pm. Really windy and was getting tossed all over in my little boat. I only got 5. and they were mostly dinks. Couldnt find my fish off the dam yesterday. I rip baited all my fish. Drag jigs, carolina rigs, spinnerbaits, ratle traps, the only thing I didnt do was drop shot. I bet that was working.

Report: I wish I knew the secret to catching big fish consistently! After 20 years of fishing Folsom this has been my best year ever!!!! Started in Febuary landing a 10lb. 8oz.;and a lot of fish between the high 3's to mid 6's throughout this year.Funny thing I haven't really fished it as much as I had in the past.( MORE DELTA AND C.L. TRIPS) Hard to give away what my "Secret Weapon" is, but I can tell you it's old school. I can give you one or two basic tips, but it's really nothing new at all.
    1. Learn how to use, read, and trust your fish finder.
    2.FISH SLOW!
3.Work the area your fishing completely.
4.Don't be afraid to try something different!
The best advice I can give is to read Jim's and Paul Parks reports!! They are sharing excellent information!!! Don't give up on Folsom, your day will come.

Report: I will be out there at 6 tonight but thought I would help you guys out. Try throwing brown orange jigs 3/8 oz. Spots, smallmouth and the largemouth will eat that. Same thing with a white chartrus spinner bait. Find points and rocks that drop off quick. (hint the dam). Spots run deep so try drop shoting in like 80 feet of water around beals point. And if you your just hunting hogs throw a 8" triple trout fish it like a jerk bait, and put those release split rings on it because you have to hit rocks to trigger the bite and they are a 85 dollar plug. Throw jigs early and late. Buzz baits and spooks have been off for me lately cant get a blow up. Keep in mind folsom does not hold a pattern well what works today may not work tomorrow. Throw the box at them until you find something they like. Another hint when the guy on the dam yells at you on the bull horn, your in the right spot. Sinkos will work there 2. Heck sinkos might work in the toilet. They work everywear else. Drop shot a 6" sinko and slowly bounce it and drag it around like a carolina rig. Alright thats enough info to make you dangerous and when you catch fish using this info you have to throw them back its a rule.

Report: No worries, the email I sent you Jim bounced back to me as well... Not sure what is preventing the message from going through but I'm not a computer guy.

Anyways, Jim and O-Heim, throw some pointers out there for the quality fish. We seem to get our share of 1-2 pounders and the occasional 3 but have yet to lay into a 4+ on Folsom. How can we increase our chances of the big'ins?

Report: Hey tuna man, give me an email about your comments, I can't send to you because I( have been bl0ocked by Cooche. I want to clarify something about your last report as it seems to be slanderous. By the way, the bite was great again today with an even better weight because i hit my premier target today. 27 pounds today on jigs.

Report: Jim Scarlet, my last post was not intended to be slandersous towards your posts. I went back and read yours and realized that I used the same "bag size" weights in my tips that could have made it look like I was pointing a finger. That was more for everyone, including myself and fishing partner.

We've realized that the fish weights we have assumed are off by a lot when "eye balling" them so we took a scale and realized the truth behind the weights and were humbled. I'll email this to you as well..... Tight lines.

    Water Temp: 72

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: On the water first light my partner p/u's up a 2.5 - 3 pounder and I p/u a spook fish and my parnter had several short blow ups on a popper. That was about it for top water. For the rest of the day it was drop shot and lots of smaller fish but I did manage to get a 5.8 on a brown and purple jig. Other fis in the 2 pound range came on a small swim bait. A decent day but wished we could have manged more bigger fish. Labor day I p/u a 5.4 spot on a small swim bait. All in all a fun day.

    Water Temp: 76

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Launched Saturday morning and headed to the main body to drop shot. Picked up three fish, 1-2 lbs, in the first 10 minutes. Headed up South Fork and fished rock walls and some more structure for a decent day. We got about a dozen really nice fish on board and farmed about another 6.

The last turn up South Fork prior to Salmon Falls had bass chasing bait like crazy.... we got a few on chatter baits that threw up at the boat and had "friends" follow them up to the net. Definitely in frenzy mode at this point. It gets shallow up in this area so be carefull. One guy had a few trout and salmon hit a white rooster tail in this same area. Crazy day.
    City: Rocklin

Tips: Here is a tip that is guaranteed to humble most of you, take a fish scale with you. You'll be amazed at how fast your so called "5 pounders" turn into "2 pounders" and your so called 21 pound bags turn into a 10 pound bag once it is actually weighed.

    Water Temp: 82

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Launched Thursday around 3:30 pm with my 1st mate Matt. Only ramp open is Hobie at Brown's Ravine. 5mph limit is posted for the whole lake now but it still doesn't get rid of all the wakeboarders or wave runners. F'ing idiots, I'm taking a painball gun next time to have me some target practice! =)

Fishing was slow, 3.5 hrs on the lake and picked up three shakers, largest 1-1.5lbs. All fish were caught on spinnerbaits. We tried drop shotting, rattletraps, swim baits, texas rigged sinkos, buzz baits and nothing else produced a single strike. We saw another bass boat getting out of the water and they only got one fish....looks like the meat shut down for the day. We're heading out for a Saturday morning run tomorrow, maybe they'll be back in hungry mode.
    City: Rocklin

Tips: You don't want any tips from the boat who just spent 3.5 hours catching 3 fish for a combined weight of 21oz...............

Report: Fished 6:30 to 11:30 a.m. Launched at Browns as I think its the only launch facility available right now. Put the trolling motor down and turned right out of Hobie cove observing the 5 mph.Fished a vixen and a buzzbait first hour with no luck, Then tried a fluke for thirty minutes with no results. Then went to jigs and plastic and started catching fish. Reaction bite was not happening for some reason. Ended up with eleven fish best five 12.5 lbs. Best fish just over 3 lbs.
It was nice to have a flat lake to fish. 5 mph also forces you to fish water I normally would pass up.
