    Water Temp: low 50"s

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Launched day break, proceeded to main lake stairstep structure with gobs of pond smelt and fresh trout plants. Light wind from right direction, skys just right, temp was nice and cool.Fished 55ft with 6# P-Line CXX and used homemade jig head with Robo special plastic. First keeper over threelbs(spot), next over 4Lb(spot), next over three lbd (smallie), next oner 4lb (spot) etc, etc,.Finished in about an hour on that spot with about 18 lbs. Then proceeded to check out underwater forrest with my camera where I saw numerous blacks over 5 lbs. They probably could not be brought out of the forrest so I decided not to try. Spent the rest of the morning using cmera and catching some two pounders on special areas. All in all I would say it was not a good string for Folsum that time of the year. Good luck in fishing.

    Water Temp: 55

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished from 8am to 2pm. 8 spots, 7 keepers to 2 pounds. Fish were hammering the jig. They wanted it fast. Just barely tapping the rocks while using the trolling motor was the trick. 25-35 ft. Being delta guys, my buddy and I new we could have found better quality fish in deeper water, but just wanted to get bit. 2 pound spots in 30 ft of water is a not a bad way to go when Folsom is just right down the street and only $10 bucks to launch. We could have caught more fish if we stayed in the north fork, but gave in and tried to get in to the main body in deeper water but by that time the north wind was insane. We spent the next 2 hours looking for decent areas, but couldn't really get on any more fish.
    City: Roseville

Tips: Fast dragging was the trick. You could let the fish have the jig forever and they would not drop it. Looking forward to getting back out there and learning the lake again.

    Water Temp: 55.6

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: After the storm on Friday, Dennie Howard and I took a 1/2 day off and hit Folsom Lake from 1pm to 4pm. The water is now coming up again but still cold air. We found a bouy just out from Grainte Bay with balls of bait, using drop shot, carolina rig, greenpumkin lizards and leach. We got three nice fat spots and smallies upto 3 lbs.
There bellies are full of shad getting ready for the long winter. Slowly drag and shake something on the bottom in 25-45 ft. moved around in the warm afternoon sun for December looking for bait and large arches on my screen. Within the three hours we picked up 5 fair bass.

The next day out with Joe Miller in his Triton (my pro craft at home), the day was a little different. Light to medium winds and cold. The same at the day before but also using JK brown/brown Jigs with a # 180 double tail. All I can say is dress warm and fish slow. Joe and I had our best was 11.75 for our five.

    Good luck and be safe
    City: rocklin

Tips: If you can get down with a split shot 6 lb test line works and 50-60 ft with a 1/2 oz jig.

    Water Temp: 58 Degrees

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: On the water at 10:30am waited for clear skies. Fished right after stormy weather hoping to get a reation bite going. Started by Morman Island which is now completely exposed due to water level dropping dramatically over the last month. water level is down 40 feet and falling. I could not get a reation bite all day. Fished both the North and South part of the lake. Found a lot of fish between the 15-40 foot level which is probably where thermacline is. I did not want to drop shot today and that is probably why I did not get any bites. Had one fish follow my crankbait around 3:30 pm which is when I noticed the fish coming to the surface and busting shad. I saw about 5 or 6 other bass boats on the lake fishing. There were no skiers on the lake due to low water temperature. I thought for sure that the storm would kick these fish in gear and send them into a feeding frenzy and thus a reation bite. No so, these fish are getting ready for the long winter and have started to decend into deeper water......Good luck. Oh by the way, I want to say thank you to the Idiot who thought he was cleaver by flying by me at 70 mph in shallow water just to get to either his spot before me or to see if he could actually out do a 115merc 4stroke with his 200 merc. I hope you made it to your spot without any damage to your boat? People like you are the reason why real fishermen stay away from Folsom. You and your buddy from what I could see were rather young thus the reason for your immuturity. Next time you may not be so lucky and come up against someone who will take offense to your stupitity.
    City: El Dorado Hills

Tips: Fish are deep so you may have to drag a worm or drop shot a worm. And, stay a way from white bass boat about 19-20 feet in length with a couple of young Idiots on it. They might just cut your boat in half just to get to "their spot"!

    Water Temp: 60-62

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished last Friday in the rain for about 4 hours. We got on the lake a little late, around 8:00am. We caught 1 crankbait fish just under 3lbs, 1 jig fish and 5 on a wacky rigged worm. 7 fish total, best 5 went 9-1/2lbs. I threw that crankbait for a long time and ended up with 1 good fish and one lost fish to show for it.
    City: Roseville

Tips: All the worm fish were right on the bottom and you had to fish really slow barely moving it. I expected a lot more reaction fish with the weather but it just wasn't there.

    Water Temp: 59-60

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: This lake is not for the fait of heart. I was out for only 2.5 hours in the mid-morning to "prefish" for some relatives in town this weekend ... Result ... I ain't takin' 'em to Folsom.

I didn't have a lot of time so I worked from the Peninsula to the mouth of the S. Fork. Charted scatered bait and some fish. Most activity seemed to be between 32 and 26 feet down.

I tried dropping darterheads, drop shots and spoons to no avail. You can tell these fish are super negative right now.
    City: Auburn

Tips: We need a change of weather. This storm might do it. The weekend could be different. But with the Striper action on the Delta, you might just be better off going for those Tuxedo Fish.

    Water Temp: 58-60

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Haven't fished this lake but one other day this year. it was toughout there. But I did take my 7 year old son and he had a blast. Caught one fish from 7 am to about 12:30. Fish came on a darthead in about 25 ft, way up the north fork above the bouy line.
    City: Roseville

Tips: If I stuck to it and didn't have a little one with me, I could grind it out for a limit. Best of luck.

    Water Temp: 62-64

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: The lake is in flux right now and bites are hard to come by. Did find bait and fish on the main body in 20-30 ft. but only caught a 1.5# in that area. Moved over to a ledge in the Mormon Island area and caught a small keeper in 47 ft. Bait in all places I fished was scattered and hard to follow. Dropshot and darthead were the deals of choice.
    City: Roseville

Tips: We need a cold and wet storm to come in and finish the turnover. The 70 degree days with little or no afternnon wind are keeping this lake in the tough bite mode. Some report fish up shallow in the afternoon, but I can't find them. I stayed deep with a dropshot & dartheads. Probably could get a small limit at around 8 lbs. if I stuck to it. Good luck.

    Water Temp: 59-61.5

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: 11-7-2005 Was a day I will never forget on Folsom Lake. I started fishing the deep water out in front of the launch ramp's at Granite Bay. I Started draging a 1-ton jig with a Yamamoto Hula grub in 30-50' of water. For me the jig bite was a bust aswell as the drop-shot bite. I found some suspended fish in 30' of water, they where holding right in the middle at 15', So I sent down an all white senko on a 3/0 wide-gap & did the old dead stick, after about 30-45 seconds I gave it that little twitch & bingo 2.5 spot I hooked a few more using this method before these fish moved-closer in towards the shore. I started fishing the shallow shoreline with a crank-bait, when I hit the mother load. This shoreline was loaded with some very large bass. My biggest was 6.2 lb. with the smallest just under 3 lbs. they where all Large Mouth which was hard to belive , When in the next 45 mins I caught 8 TOADS, Best 4 fish went a little over 21lbs. all caught in 2-10' of water on a crank bait. Photo of 6.2 I posted in the photo section,Typo erro wrong date. WHAT AN AFTERNOON !!! MJB

Tips: 60 DEGREE water temp. on Folsom for me has always been good for throwing a Crank Bait. Start deep & if nothing happens move towards the shoreline & pay attention to the birds they are the best fish finders on the market

Report: Yes the lake is droping, but the fish are still there, still look for bait fish in the main body on rockey humps in 20-40 ft of water. Small 3 " curley tail worms work good. Quency got our first two bass on a leach with a split shot in the rocks at the dam. Moving near Beals Point in 30-35 ft of water drop shoting got one more keeper. The afternoon ended to soon, good luck in Sunday's tourament.

Report: First time out on Folsom fished humps and points from 11:30A to 4:30P without a bite. Did have a blow-up from something that busted the surface by the back of the boat while I was quickly reeling in my dropshot to move. Whatever it was it made a lot of noise. Still a couple of skiers and PWCs out.

Report: Fished the Galaxy Customer Appreciation tournament and had a great time. Great job by NBW, their organization hosted and put on a great tournament.
Found fish in prefish in the 30-40 ft. chasing bait, but the difference for us was the appearance of SHAD and not so many smelt. In prefish, there were shad in all of the areas that produced our bigger fish. Dropshot, darthead & spoons worked pretty consistantly.
Tournament day started off with no great surprises as I haven't caught a reaction fish in weeks, so it didn't surprise me. Dropshot one real early then decided to move off to the main body to fish ledges and ridges on the submerged islands. Dropshotted our llimit in the next hour and moved around to find bigger fish. Dropshotted a spot close to 3# off of a rockpile near the dam in 43 ft., but could duplicate it for remainder of the day. Weighed in 8.99# for around 15th or place.
    City: Roseville

Tips: Stay deep on ledges & ridges. A cold wet storm is needed to turn the lake over as the thermocline is still down around 45-55 ft. Until then, get some experience in deep water fishing and practise popping fish, we all need it.

    Water Temp: 69

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I showed Folsom Lake to a father and 11 year old "birthday boy" today. The boy's first fishing trip! Even though the fishing was generally tough, he learned to cast like a pro and stuck 4 bass on his own, landing 2 and losing 2. One was a 14 inch spot. He lost one maybe bigger. Dad caught a few spots also. I mostly helped the boy but did fish some. A 3 to 3 1/2 lb smallie broke my heart about 5:30 pm in the south fork as she cleared the water by about a foot and shook off my 4 inch purple ghost worm. What a fish!! We used a split-shot rig most of the time but did catch a few drop-shotting shad colored Yamamoto Kreature baits. I tried some topwater before dark - no takers.
    City: Yuba City

Tips: Most lakes could really use a good storm to get the fall bite going - or at least some real cloudy days. That may happen this week! We saw lots of bait balls but not too many bass near them. Strange. The bite did pick up the last hour as shadows formed. We fished the main body for most of the trip and some in the south fork.

Report: The light winds have kicked up making the water a little stained. In the water at1 pm with Jim Malm and I fished up the North Fork just past Andersen Island finding some large balls of bait and a few spots, small bass and two blue gill drop shot. Moved around for the next fourth five minutes finding nothing. Out at 3 pm.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Ryan Mckinley and I went out late in the afternoon. I have not seen the lake for a month or more, it sure has droped. Dropping is good for me my rockey points and steep drop offs are up now. Using drop shot and finding big balls of moving ball our first bass was a 2.5 lb spot in the main part of the lake with rocks in 45 ft of water.
Ryan was using a carolina rig with a leach in 20-30 ft of water getting his first spot just in front of the "Rock Garden" area.
Just outside in deeper water I found balls of bait with large arches under, drop shot got me a 1.5 , 2.0 and a 3.0 lb.
gets dark early so out of the water by 6:30.
    City: rocklin

Tips: fish slow and look for the moving bait balls
