Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Just wanted to know how the bite has been on Folsom. Heading up there on Thursday and am taking a couple rookies and would like to put them on fish. Thanks Cal
City: San Jose -
Water Temp: 63-80
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: In @ 8:45 and ran to the south fork 5 MPH area. Immediately dropshot a 3 lb. Largey off of the first tree on the left going into the 5 MPH area. Dartheaded a 2.25 lb. off of the right bridge piling at Salmon Falls. Moved all the way to the thermocline just below where the river comes in. No bites on anything, left for the main body and some rock piles that are coming into play with the dropping water. Lots of marked fish, but no takers. Dropshotted 3 small keepers off of the trees near the Granite Bay Beach. Off at 1 PM.
City: RosevilleTips: Be patient, the steady weather patterns + a waining moon will improve the bite here in the next week. Fish are still in 25-40 ft. chasing bait, just not mine right now. Dropshot & dartheads are still the way to go, don't be a bankbeater, get off shore and stay out deep.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Went out first light, went to one of my go to spots and tried top water with nothing. Tried Texas rigged leach picked up 1.2lbs fish moved to South Fork nothing for 3 hours moved to rock gardens and still nothing. Off the water by noon. I hope thing improve before the Future Pro Tournament hits the water on Sept.17th.
City: SacTips: Bring the kids and go Cat fishing on the lake right now. I saw A father and son put 2 7.75lbs and 8lbs cats in there boat in 10 min. on night crawlers in the back of the second South cove on the South Fork.

Water Temp: 77-80
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: In a word ... BRUTAL. I was out with a friend and a Guide on Friday for 6 hours ... so three of us. I landed the catch of the day with a 6 inch monster Smallie. I went back out Saturday AM (because I like pain and agony) for 5 hours. 1 LM at 1.75 lbs. Drop Shotting. Over both days I fished the main body and the N. Fork. Lice all over on Sat. - none before noon on Friday.
We tried topwater early (Spooks and Poppers) - two blow ups. Tried ripping, some cranking, but most of the time was spent drop shottind dartner heading, and split shotting shad and other natural colors, Greens, browns, pinks, etc ...
The bite is just extremely tough right not at Folsom.
City: Auburn, CATips: Pay for the gas and drive to Clear Lake ... best quote I have heard on that lake right now is "You can catch 'em on an old shoe, especially if it is in June Bug!"
Seriously, on Folsom ... EARLY and fish very, very slow at about 20 to 30 feet. Avoid the weekend for at least a few more weeks.

Water Temp: 77-79
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: In @ 8:30, wind from the south creating 3 to 4 foot swells. Nothing outside of the Granite ramp as the wind made holding there tough. Ran to the overlook and fished from there to the corner of the buoy line in the corner. One smallie about 1.5 lbs. on my darthead. Moved aroound some more with no results. Back to the trees near the swim area @ Granite to catch 3 keepers on a dropshot around the trees. Had another 13" fish spit up a partially digested 4" baby bass. Canabalism is high this year with the very good spawn that took place. Baby bass patterns will be good this fall for ripbaits & cranks. For now, stay deeper (25+ ft.) with dropshots & dartheads, find the bait and the fish will be close.
City: RosevilleTips: As usual, dartheads & dropshots worked when all else failed.

Water Temp: 77-84
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Launched out at Natomas 6:30am..I should have read Scott's report and fished deep. Nothing shallow, everything is deep 30+ feet. Found lots of schooling fish on electronics at that depth but no takers on what I had to offer.Fished the Dam,South and North forks with only one small fish to account for. Lots of wind and boats on the south side which made fishing difficult. I recommend not to fish until Fall that way there will be a whole lot less traffic to eal with.
City: El Dorado HillsTips: Locate schools of bass with electronics and then try to figure out what they want because I coundn't! Tight lines and stay safe water is dropping.

Water Temp: 77-79
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: In @ 8:30 and ran to the dam to throw a buzzbait for awhile. One Spot that went 2.75 lbs. ate it in the west corner and that was it. Moved around a bit, but ended up fishing right in front of the Granite ramp and ended up with a 3.8 Smallie, 3.1 Spot, 2.6 Spot. 2.5 (mule) Smallie and a 2.0 Spot all out in about 20-25 ft. on a long submerged point. Dartheaded all of them on a 1/4 oz. lead with my favorite Roboworm.
City: RosevilleTips: Fish are moving out to offshore structure with the dropping water. A few good fish are up shallow early, but the schools of bigger fish have set up shop in some "grocery" store areas around the lake. These fish are settled in until the fall bite takes off and the only way to get is being good with the electronics and a dropshot or darthead. Good luck

Water Temp: 80-82
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: With all the boaters out for a saturday the water was a little muddy. The first day we've had a cool day in months. I had some work on my boat trailer to do , so Ryan and I put the boat in, fixed the trailer and then off fishing @ 5:30pm. Got away from the wind and boaters in a cove with trees finding a 2 1/2 largie with a JK brown 1/2 oz jig a # 180 grub. We stayed around the trees for the next hour and then moving into the cove deeper to find o. The wind picked up and the boater headed in so we went into the norrows of the north fork on steep drop offs. Using buzz baits, worms , lizards, crankin and spinners we walked away for that bank with nothing. 8 pm now so we went in.
City: rocklinTips: work deep and slow

Water Temp: 81-85
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: With gas prices keeping me close to home, I ventured out just to wet a line with Oroville on my mind. Sunrise found me running north to the head waters and hopefully some fish. Only one buzzbait fish for the trip up there, but I saw some submarines swimming around up there. All very fat from all of the trout they're eating and a few from the fact that they haven't spawned yet. These fish haven't a clue and because of all of the food up there, they haven't left the 55 degree water. Wouldn't eat anything i had to give them though, so I left for the main body and the hump that held fish during the police & fire games. The hump is now an isalnd, but the fish were still out in 25 ft. just where they were 2 weeks ago. Dartheaded a couple with the biggest going around 2.60 lbs. Moved over to Granite and dropshotted a little keeper that spit up a 4" baby Bass on the way up. Partially digested with only a small patch of skin left so I could make out the markings.Off by about 1 PM when all of the lake maggots and their "rape" music started to show up.
City: RosevilleTips: Fish can still be had on 4.5" or 6" plastics in shad patterns either dropshot or dartheaed. Find rocky areas that are isolated with a little wood with 15-30 ft. of water around and you have a great Folsom summer pattern for lots of fish.

Water Temp: 81-83
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Hot Hot Hot, weather was over 100 deg, and this is why we fish in the morning and not at 3pm. I guess i should wait until the morning or when it cools down. We saw fish in my spots, using split shot, worms, lizards and leaches no fish. good luck and have fun.
City: rocklinTips: stay cool and look for the fish in the morning, soon the top water will start ?

Water Temp: 79-83
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: This is a 3-in-1 report from the Western States Police and Fire Olypics held July 28-29.
July 27 (PREFISH DAY)- My partner, Brian Whitney & I go looking for backup water and instead found a prime Folsom summer time hump near Browns Ravine. Had a BIG Spot follow up a Spook before she turned away. Good thing, I didn't want to stick her the day before the tournament. we found some other areas holding lots of fish, but not alot of size to them.
July 28th (DAY 1 INDIVIDUAL COMPETITION)- For this day I drew Amillio Mantua from Stockton Fire and we immediately went to the hump I found the previous day and that BIG Spot BLEW UP on a buzzbait, but failed to get steel in her mouth. Never saw her again, but managed to put together a meager limit of 4-fish weighing 4.66 lbs. which was good enough for 22nd place out of 110 individuals. Dropshotting ended getting all of our fish for the day as Amillio had the bigger bag weighing 5.45 I believe.
JULY 29TH (DAY 2 TEAM COMPETITION)- Paired back with Brian, we headed straight for the hump and threw buzzbaits, spooks and ripbaits for about 45 minutes. Brian lost a good fish on a Pointer MR early, and with another boat on the hump we decided to leave and let the area rest from all of the attention it was getting. I dropshotted a small keeper over on Mormon Island and lost a good buzzbait fish. We made a couple of other moves with no results, so we decided to get back to our hump as there had not been a boat on it for about an hour. I picked up my confidence bait, a 1/4 oz. darthead w/ a 4.5" Robo worm and began to work all of the deeper points coming off of this hump. After about 20 minutes I hook-up and land a 2.7 lb. Spot followed by a 1.8 lb. Spot. Soon after I get a 2.6 lb. Spot and Brian gets our limit fish, a 1.6 lb. Spot. Another 10 minutes and Brian seals our day with an absolute beautiful 3.8 lb. Folosm summer Largemouth. Soon after I land a 2.0 lb. Spot and we then had the limit we ended up weighing which was 12.5 lbs. All of our fish were caught either Dartheading or Dropshotting water in the 25 - 50 ft. range on points coming off of the hump we were fishing.
END RESULT- We took the GOLD medal and Brian took the BIG FISH GOLD for the team competition with his 3.8 lb. Largey.
City: RosevilleTips: Pretty typical Folsom in that the bigger fish were following the shad & smelt in deeper water. Although the fish were up shallow very early, they didn't stay there long and moved off to the sides of the hump once the sun was up. Dropshot & darthead 4.5" worms in Shad patterns for the best results.

Water Temp: 79
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Went and fished the Police & Fire games tourney. Found fish 3 weeks prior all off shore around rock piles humps and breaks near deep water in 20 - 25'. Well, the fish were still there, but they were smaller and fewer. The 3 pound fish were gone because the water had dropped atleast 10'. Managed 2 limits split shotting and drop shotting. Flipped all shallow brush I could find for the last half hour and picked up a 5.3 spot.
This moved me all the way to 2nd place. Good luck.
City: OakdaleTips: This lake is fishing small. Find as many areas with fish as you can because they move around a lot. Then, fish slow because they are mouthing the bait like a winter bite.

City: roseville CATips: I used a Carolina pole. The bait was rubber worms. I caught both fish using deadstick technique. My friend Todd taught me deadstick technique.

Day one weigh in will be at Granite Bay with a after party and medals to be given away at Mark and Monica's on Auburn Folsom Blvd.Day two weigh in and medals will be at Granite Bay. I know this spot is for fishing reports, just trying to remind people. We have some great speakers lined up for the 27th and have great prize givaways, so bring your familys and have a great time. If you have any questions, please call me at (916) 899-0070 Thanks Phil Hart ( Sac. Metro Fire Dept.)
City: RosevilleTips: Now for the report. It's been very tough for me out there lately. You can still catch the fish, just slow down and be patient. I have been finding the bait ( it's all over the place) and that seems to be where I have got them.

Water Temp: 79-84
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Ryan and I got in at Granite Bay @ 5:45am, what a nice morning it is before the hot sun came up. Even the boaters are out early to enjoy the water. We started out at Andersen Island with Pop R's and buzzbaits, had five small blow ups and no fish. I started draging a split shot with a lizard picking up two blue gills and one very small spot. Out of the water at 9:30am before the heat.
City: rocklinTips: good luck in the heat

Water Temp: 82
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Yep, the fish have definitely moved. A month ago I was practically catching them at will on a split-shot rig in 20 ft of water, yesterday I fished from 9am-4 with no luck. Oh I forgot, I graphed some bait in 35 ft of water, threw out my drop-shot, set the hook, and pulled up a 12" trout. Classic!
Tips: This time a year you're better off riding the tube.
