Report: Went out to fish today for the first time at this lake because I heard of the recent bass plant. I fished from 7 AM to 2:30 PM.
I thought I gonna get skunked. I tried almost all my lures and worms.
I thought for sure the senkos would work, but they didn't work texas rigged.
I decided to try drop-shotting them wacky style, then BAMB! On my second cast toward the middle of the lake I get this 17in bass! I didn't keep it. I just took a picture and let her go!
    City: American Canyon

Tips: Drop-shot wacky style w/4-inch senkos. They didn't like the 5 in.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished from shore for three hours this morning - knocking off around noon. There are a large number bass up in the shallows, probably due to the warm weather we've had for the last week and a half. Saw about a dozen fish today. Only problem was they saw me as well. Caught one in a group of four, on a "paddle fry" swimming minnow bait. Fish weighed about 3 lbs...and it was the smallest of the four. Released it right away.
    City: Daly City

Tips: Patience is the key. These bass are not that easy to catch. Watch out when accessing the water from the shoreline...tons of poison oak everywhere.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished rom shore today or just a little while. Caught one 8 inch bass ishing a drop-shot along the weed edges o the L- dock, other than that no action. Didn't have as much time as usual. Will be back out soon.
    City: Pleasant Hill

Tips: Start adjusting your ishing or all patterns, dropshot and slitshot along the weedlines, might be worth while to lip and pitch around the miloil beds up shallower as well.

    Water Temp: 67-72 degrees F

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished the lake today or the irst time in a while. Motored over to Harry's cove and immediately got about an 8 inch bass on a pumpkin/green lake 4 inch Senko. That was it or the rest o the day with the exception o a ew more strikes in the same area on other Senko colors. I was basically ishing 3 colors o Senkos and some cranks the whole day. Not a whole lot o action on the lake today, so I heard and observed, nor did I see as many bass as usually. Water was a little dirtier than usual, but was a nice temp the whole day. All o the ish I came across were tucked back in the tulles in response to the wind. Hope to be back out in a week or two, and will certainly post again. Good ishing to all.
    City: Pleasant Hill

Tips: My best bet would be pitching senkos or brush hogs in the shallows and cranking along the deeper weedlines. Spinnerbaits could also work, along with rigs like a drop-shot or split-shot or the weedlines as well.

Water Temp: no idea, wish i

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished around the main rec area. Trying out my new swim bait. Its got good action but nothing was hitting it. Decided to go to the handicap dock and drop shot some 4" worms. Hoping or maybe a shaker or two. That i was snagged in the tules but hooked up with a solid 3 pounder. Very surprising! Fished around the whole dock with an uplited conidence, went back to the same spot and hooked up with a 2 pounder! One o my best winter days rom shore in a long time or this lake.
    City: Moraga

Tips: Small worms, color doesnt seem to matter. Catch and Release.

    Water Temp: Mid 50s

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Sorry to report no bass action but or those interested in the put and take trout, I have some inormation. Fished the mid-day to aternoon using the typical powerbait and worm combo. no action anywhere on the lake or the irst hours. But ater 3pm, the bite turned on. In 45 minutes, we had landed 3 up to 3lbs and lost 2 and missed many others. Fished the south end in 20 eet o water. all ish were taken 2 eet o the bottom with sliding sinker rigs and bait. No action on the top using lies or metal hardware.
    City: Laayette

Tips: ish the bottom using worms or power bait. Use light leaders and careully watch your line. Trout this time o year seem to bite with less pressure. For those die hard hardware chuckers, I preer using 1/4 gold kastmasters with yellow relector tape. these lures are diicult to track down in the bay area tackleshops. I purchased mine down at Mammoth. (long way or a lure)

Report: This is not a report, but a note to all you younger guys who ish Laayette. I am currently a tourning bass pro and I grew up and LEARNED how to ish or bass at laayette years ago. As or the post about no bass, that could'nt be arther rom the truth. I have seen ish exceding 15lbs and know people who have caught them up to 13 lbs this year. You won't see pictures o it on the wall because they don't want the word to get out, but all o you know the potential there. And speaking o potential brings me back to my point. I am a PRO FISHERMAN and i learned rom laayette bass! They are some o the toughest ish to catch anywhere. Three o my reinds who are also pros also ished mostly laayette as kids to. One o them inished in the top our o the last BASSMASTER tournament on the Delta. Remember the ishing lessons learned rom chasing those big laayette bass. I you hope to become a pro bass ishermen in Caliornia or anywhere or that matter, YOU CAN!!!!! And in my opinion you will be much better prepared than most o your competitors because you learned it rom laayette. I you can catch them there, honestly you can catch them anywhere a bass swims. I hope you think about it and consider yourselves the up and coming bass pros, I'll bet some o you will be. eel ree to drop me a line with any questions about laayette. I still go quite oten. Report: I have heard a lot o ishermen claim that there are not a lot o bass in Laayette Reservior, but there is. In act, Laayette is home to some o the biggest bass I have ever seen. You just have to have patience and know exactly where to ind them. You wont get much action during the mid-day, but i you hang around until sunset, you will see exactly what I mean. Tight Line! Water Temp: ~70 degrees

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Out o the numerous trips to the reservoir, I inally landed a 3lbs large mouth bass out o Laayette. There are decent size bass out there, cause I've seen them on numerous occasions--just swimming by. That day my riend, Jack and I hit up one o the docks around 6:30 pm, it was windy and clouds were rolling in. The water was a bit cloudy. So I started out using a plastic worm (tried dierent colors) with no luck, and then to a spinner, inally gave up and I reached or my Storm lightning Shad crank bait (blue gill colors). I cast it out a several times on the edges o the weed bed and BAM out o nowhere a hit out o hell! It was a hard hit and it gave me a good ight. I'm just glad I caught a bass inally out o this once thought to be a "no luck" reservoir. I'll be back this weekend!
    City: Hercules

Tips: I you could see them, orget it, they won't bite. Crank bait did it or me this time. Weather change may have caused the ish to be more active.Catch and Release!

    Water Temp: 70-73 degrees

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I ished Laayette today starting around 11:30, and ending around 5:00. I didn't ind much until around 2:30. I was ishing around in the east cove split shotting a 4 inch worm and managed to get a ew bites in about nine eet o water, about ive or six eet rom the tulles. I got one strike, then I cast again and hooked up on what elt like about a 2 or 3 pounder, then it got o. I ished the same area or another 45 minutes and got a dozen more strikes, all o the ish biting short and ripping up my worms. I inally let with no ish. The water temp was in the low 70s and I didn't see any ish, I just lost them. Oh well. The wind was between 10 and 20 mph the whole day, and it was a little hard to control the boat.
    City: Pleasant Hill

Tips: I noticed a posting by Jon below. Jon- I'm no bass pro at Laayette. Scratch that- I'm no bass pro period, but I'll try to help. First o all, there are bass in Laayette, and not just a ew. I've seen numerous bass exceding 10 pounds, and many smaller ones. I've been ishing the lake or over three years. That isn't that long, but I have learned a lot rom and about the lake. Mysel and many o the people I've talked to have ound this lake hard to ish, but once you get the hang o it, you won't have a problem. I mysel am still working on getting the hang o it. As or a location, I look or sheltered areas in 10 or 15 eet o water. Most o the summer time the bass will be at these depths. I usually ish deep diving crankbaits over deeper weed beds and weed edges. A split shotted 4 inch worm is also a great bait to have. When the bass are more active you can also ind them cruising over shallower weed beds. Flipping and pitching into the tulles is also eective, I ind it to be the most eective during stable weather. As or good lure choices, perch and trout patterned baits are good. Any smaller split shot rigged baits, deep diving cranks, and spinnerbaits also produce. Many other baits are great as well, as long as you know where to ish them eectively. I hope I helped you, as I said, I'm no pro.

The senko was bigger than the ish. I you are reading this and have any idea on how or where to ish this lake please drop me a line with any and all ino that you have. Most o the people I talked to said that there aren't many bass in the lake. I will try again soon. Good luck to all the isherman out there!

Report: Well, I ished here or the third time in or days. I'm not sure why I keep coming back. I ished or three hours this morning throwing a small popper, a buzzbait, a small jerkbait, a tube, and a small worm. Nothing. It was very cold and windy today, but the water was very warm never the less (at least 75 F). I I am really insane, I'll try again tomorrow.

Report: Well, I was there irst thing in the morning today. I rented a boat and headed or the East Cove. I tossed poppers or a while at irst light, and had a very large bass swim by it, but wasn't interested. Then I tried a spinnerbait or a while, nothing. Then, I proceeded back to the west end where I tossed worms and brush hogs or the rest o the day. I didn't hook any bass, but the Yellow Perch wouldn't live my plastics alone. One o the perch I inadvertantly hooked was chased all the way to the boat by a large bass. Overall, a very rustrating day during the time o year I typically do well here.
    City: Clayton

Tips: Try perch patterned baits. There all over the place and the bass are ollowing hooked ones.
