Water Temp: 58-62
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: The started at the lake around 7am. Flipped the tullies most of the day for only one bite. I missed the fish. Saw a lot of fish moving in towrads the tullies later in the day. Left around 3pm, saw a lot bass boats arriving around that time. The trout bite seemed to be good for the trollers. The bass bite still seems to be slow.

Water Temp: 56-63
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Water was super clear. Could easily see the bottom at 14'. Could also easily see lots of bass cruising the shallows and near the surface and they could see us. It was interesting to watch them ignore lures that practically hit them in the nose.
Caught 7. 1 on a brown jig, 1 on a chrome and black Rat'ln Rogue, The rest on split shot worms either black or MMIII. Largest was 2.5 full of eggs.
City: MontereyTips: Fishing got better later in the day as the water warmed up. The key seemed to be plastics fished on long casts.

Water Temp: 68.3
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Skunked. Periodically very gusty. Had a blowup on a frog in the back of the lake near an isolated grass top 20' off the bank, but that was it. Nothing on cranks, blades or jigs.
Around 2pm I slipped and put my hand down on a Rapala DT10 and sank a hook into it. Nice sharp hooks. Figured that was a clue to call it a day and visit the local Emergency Room. Big shot of Novacaine (ouchy), hook cut out, tetanus shot and I'm on my way. Not a good day, but still better than working.

Water Temp: aprox 80 degree
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished the sunday before the first and on the first of August. Got on the water about 8ish. Fished everywhere...the coves, deep water, shallow water, brush, weeds, the dam. Fished spinnerbaits, dd22s, jig and pigs, carolina rigs w/lizards, drop shop with various baits, different swimbait sizes and colors, tossed a castaic 8 inch trout.........nothing. No fish at all on sunday. On the first of august I caught a huge bluegill on a white spinnerbait, and hooked a bass smaller then the blue gill two casts later but it got off. No other bites, no follows, nothing. Saw absolutely TONS of bass fry, looked like millions no exaderation. No matter where you were on the lake you would see so many schools of the fry, which frustrated me like crazy cause there had to be tons of largemouth mommy and daddys in the water somewhere. Really dissapointing being that my roommate just got a boat and I was excited to go bass fishing on this lake that I have only shore fished on with the exception of one time I went in my float tube and nabbed 7 largemouths in the cove we went to on both those days. Horrible fishing, but better than any day at work!!! Will try it again soon...or maybe the forebay since theres stripers in there too. Good luck to anyone who tries....and dont even think about trout fishing there, no one has caught any since spring.
City: Los BanosTips: Use your sonar, and have a good sonar. Find good deep underwater structure holding fish, or locate schools of shad and fish em. Good luck to anyone brave enough to try...study your tactics.

Water Temp: 68-70
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Tried everything in the box. Only caught 3 small ones on a Rapala DT6 in shad.
City: MontereyTips: Probably not the best time to go fishing -- the afternoon of the end of a 3 day weekend the day after a cold front.

Water Temp: n/a
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Well I intended on fishing San Luis but theve dropped the water so fast in the last three week's I decided it would not be worth it.
So I got a late start but still basicly had the whole lake to myself..cool.Very slow first two hour's not one bite.Tried Crank's and Senko's nothing.Switched to Baby Brushhog's and finally picked up three one 5lb's rest 2-2.5lb's.Had a few more hit's but missed them all along one stretch within 20 minute's.Then a long dry spell until I picked up two more on drop shot 2.5lb's.That was it long day for a limit. And to the guy's in the older Glastron why not let those fish go.
City: SalinasTips: stop speeding on the lake, those other three bass boat's,you are going to ruin it for us that obey the law's.5MPH Max on this lake.

The am topwater bite was not there either, what's up with the fish? Kids had a great time ages from 8 to 15.
City: turlockTips: throw the senko, use the net(lost one on the swing in) fish the tules a little deeper. saw a 4# from another boat with a carolina.

Water Temp: 63.3
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Main engine was out of commision, but the trolling motor was working fine so what the heck,
went fishing. Went to the bank accross from the
ramp starting at the dam corner and fished the
entire bank (underneath the RC planes). Tried everything white buzz bait, jigs (Hemphill Special, black and blue), white chatter, drop shot MMIII, white and chartruese spinner with gold blades, watermelon and red flake senko, split-shot green 3x worm, C-rigged black lizard, June bug, Brush hogs. Nuthin!. Finally picked up a 1#r on a brown jig with a black trailer in the late afternoon. My worst trip to Los Banos.
City: MontereyTips: At the ramp spoke to someone who picked up 5 on senkos. Perhaps it would have been better had I been able to motor to the back of the lake and find clearer, warmer water.
Very hot, bring lots of water.

Water Temp: 57
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: On on lake about 8:00am, wind blowing way to hard to hold the boat in place so i pulled into the cove just left of the ramp and camped out. Threw blade shad/siver-gold bld, pointer ghost, senko bwn/blk-flk and nothing, finally set up in 14' of water with drop-shop 4"MM and got hammered by a three pound trout, dropped in back down and again hammered by a four pounder; fun but not the green monsters i was looking for. Switched to a Robo Arons Magic and got a LM about 2.5 and two more about 1.5 & 2.0 both in the middle of the creek channel on a dead stick drop-shot.
City: HilmarTips: With the wind shut down fish should be aggressive and staging, hit points with rip baits and cranks. Grn/Pmkn Senkos and drop shot on points and middle or creek channels.
Should be pre-spawn for the next week and then it should get good.

Water Temp: 75-80
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fishing was good for topwater action. Started off working the tules with a frog, at first light. I would toss it up against the tules and work it back, I had a nice blow up 5+ pounder but missed her, to slow on the hookset. Once the light was out I threw a buzz bait and got a 4lbr, i went back to the frog and got a 2lbr over some chesse in the back. Came back to the tules and worked the opposite side, got a 3 1/2lbr on a sammy and then back to the buzz bait, a few 2lbrs and then I missed the motherlode. I had a blow up buzzbait I guess the fish went over 10lbs with no problem, but not sure i never had a real good look at her.She took it off a grass line and ran towards deep water and the boat I coul dnot catch up to her to get a solid hook set.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fred and I launched at 2PM and fished till sunset.
Caught around 10 biggest 2.5#. Picked up one on a jerk bait. Couple on 7" black worms. Water was super clear. Did better toward the back of the lake where the water clouded up slightly. Nothing on a spinner. Lost the fish of a lifetime on a white Snag Proof frog with green rubber strand legs right on the edge of the tules. The water was covered with white tule seed (guessing)? Saw
her come to the surface open a bucket of a mouth, shake and sent the frog flying, darn!! After that nothing more on the frog despite throwing it the rest of the day ;) We switched to jigs and picked up a few more. Fred caught 4 nice ones on a brown
jig with a black craw trailer. I got one on a black and blue jig. Toward sunset we started throwing white buzzbaits and picked up two more. Fun day, but hot. Bring lots of water.
City: MontereyTips: Jig the edge of the tules.
