Water Temp: 58-61
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: We started ishing about 10:00am. The bite was airly consistant or the irst three hours or so. Worms and Senkos were the only thing working or us. No reaction bite at all. Even without any wind the ish were still only 5 to 10 eet deep. I am still trying to igure out where all o the big ish are. I read all o these reports and talk to people that claim to have cought 12 and 13 pound limits. Then I ish in the Chico Invitational and out o 71 teams the best weight is 10.7 or so. I geuss those 16 to 17in ish must weigh 3 pounds. Well I weighed two at 17 inches and they only weigh between 2 and 2.5 pounds. We cought some largemouth but they sure didn't have much size to them. We ended up with about 40 ish, best ive went about 9.5 pounds.
City: ChicoTips: Fish slow, the water hasn't warmed up yet. The ish are shallow but they aren't really agressive. Dont be araid to do a little "dead sticking" Good Luck.

Water Temp: 60
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I took a client to Oroville Saturday and we ished with the "olks" - lots o bass boats. I sort o started this client rom the "beginning" in past trips, and he has landed bass up to 5 1/4 pounds at Clear Lake. We decided to see i he was ready or ishing deeper water and landing some spotted bass on light tackle. We ished the south ork and did ok - not great. He landed 10, including one over the slot, and I landed 13 with 3 over. Nothing over 2.2 pounds. As the month wears on, the bass are getting smaller as the spawning cycle is nearly over or the spots. We caught them on jigs, Berkley Pulse Worms, and #194 5" Senkos (biggest bass caught on that bait). The Senko bite wasn't nearly as good as last trip. We started at 10 AM and inished at 6:30 PM. We tried to catch the late aternoon bite and it was pretty good - but not as good as I thought it would be.
City: Yuba CityTips: I have ound some good schools o spots that have been holding on some walls. Other walls that look just as good don't seem to have many ish. Ones near a eeder creek - even i the water is no longer running, seem to be holding more ish. Sort o a post-spawn thing I guess.

Water Temp: 62 to 70
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: My annual report on Oroville. We go up once a year about this time with my Oroville partner Patrick. We ished last Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and hal day on Sunday (yesterday). This trip will have to go on record as the best numbers trip we have ever had. 103 landed on Thursday (we din't start ihsing until 10:00 AM)! We did just as well on Friday. About 50 to 60 on Saturday ( I think only because we were exploring new areas ). Sunday would have been another 100 ish day i we stayed. Our thumbs were raw and bleeding (we inally igured out we could grab most o the ish by the back, but a little to late). Just a note we lost nearly hal the amount we caught. It was really unbelievable. You have to love this lake - plus it's beautiul place to spend time. I thought with the water so warm, we missed the boat this year, but on the contrary we knocked them dead. For those o you who care, we would have 8 to 10 pound-ive ish limits each day. The larger spots we caught range rom the minimum 15 inches to the max o 17.5 inches and I would suggest about 20% o the ish were keepers. We spotted a couple o our to ive pound ish which appeared to be spawning in 65 degree water. I thought spots spawned in water that is in the mid 50 degree range. Oh well. To say the least, we were very satisied and it was diicult to turn the boat towards the ramp on our last day there. Until next year...
City: DanvilleTips: Fish slowly. Small jigs or most o the ish with very light line. Got on a good spinnerbait bite on the muddy wind blown banks. Even got some on top water plugs. Although we caught some on morning dawn worms, this was the irst trip that morning dawn worms didn't slay them as usual.

Report: A weekend o highs and lows and some questions. Did it again, Saturday's ABA became a preish or a club event on Sunday. 8lbs even or Saturday and going nowhere ast. 8.42 on Sunday or a 4th place inish despite my partners engine problem. We idled back to the mainlake and made the best o it- A 2.4 on a blade at 2 pm. Darterheads in clear water and Senkos or blades in stained water. An 8.8 weighed in Saturday, and there were a ew more toad sightings reported. Saturdays awards were interupted by a DOA at the Bidwell dock. Emergency vehicles and a helicopter circling overhead. Prayers or that amily. It's about all the 2lb ish on the reports below. Out o 60 teams that competed over the weekend, only 15 had limits with a 2lb average. Is an Oroville 2lb really a 1.5 everywhere else or what?
City: El Dorado HillsTips: Unless you sight ish, use Senkos and reaction in mudlines and stained water. Mudlines develop during the day rom boat traic and wind.

Water Temp: 59
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Sometimes, guiding can be un and very satisying!! I took a ather-son team to Oroville on Wed. and Thurs. Since dad has retired and lives in southern Cali, they don't get to ish much together and told me they have been skunked the past 6 or 7 times them have ished together. I tried to come to the rescue and I think I saved them! We caught 25 the irst day with 4 over the slot, and 39 the second day with 9 over! We tried hard or the 40th bass, but we ran out o time. The weather was very weird - og on the lake Wed at 10 am! We launched at 10 am both days, planning to ish the later, hopeully warmer aternoon - good choice! Wed. we started in some o my avorite places in the north ork with very poor results. On to the middle ork and things looked up about 3 pm. We used rodstrainer jigs in brown/orange and purple/blue/black and they produced our bigger bass. We also used a 4 inch Berkley Pulse Worm. The irst topwater bass o the year were landed on Chug Bugs. They would not hit a morning dawn Magic Worm - amazing!!! Thursday, we had some success on jigs in the south ork, but this was to be a Senko day. They both wanted to learn how to ish them - and learn they did!! A ew avorite areas beyond the Enterprise bridge really produced - one in particular. A guides dream - we were hooking spots up to 2 1/4 pounds on every second or third cast - or about an hour. They were so excited - and I was happy or them! This was rom about 4 to 5 pm - on a sun-exposed bank. We lost one o two quality topwater ish - darn! We used the 5 inch Senko in colors 221 and 194 mostly. Others worked too. I did manage one largemouth in McCabe on a Senko - about 2 pounds. Fun, Fun!!
City: Yuba CityTips: We did not ine many bass in the backs o creeks, they had moved out to the closest points. We didn't ish any deeper than 20 eet. Fishing picked up in shadows later in the day, but was best on sun-exposed areas shortly beore the sun let the area.

And the kids were looking at me like i didnt know what i was doing, we dragged worms, brushogs, ripped a lucky crat but no takers. Wind inally died down so we headed to the south ork to the sandy shores, and we ound pretty good action in about 15-20 oot o water on brushogs and webb's spot spanker reapers, we put 11 in the boat 3 over the slot with one being 18 inches long on a ultra lightFound a ew o o steep banks with debris.
