Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Zipperworm reporting in. Was on this lake or 4 days out o 9 between the BFL and an ABA team event Febuary 24th. Toss in a club event, and I thought I'd break o a post. Started the run with the BFL. It proved to be a pre-ish or the smaller lesser paying events that ollowed- got to work on that. Thought it was too early or a rip bite, but the BFL proved otherwise. It held up overnight or Sunday, the 14th and I hopped on my buddy Blademan's boat or a club tourney. Missed the win .2lbs with 9.15lbs. We did the run and gun on the main lake and Blademan threw spinnerbaits (imagine that) while I ripped and shook darterheads. He scored on shallow, wind-blown points where the water was murky. It stayed cloudy all day. A ull week elapsed between the club and the ABA. Wildman, my ABA partner illed my hardrive with e-mails speculating on the bite or this one. He'd had success ripping the week beore, and early spring weather conditions had him spun up only to have the weather change shut him down. It's Febuary- think there would be a cloud? Not one. Start calling him post-ront. He ripped one and I picked up where Blademan let o and caught 4 early on a white spinnerbait. We coasted through the rest o the day on darterheads. White, at-bodied paddletails on 3/16 or 1/4oz deadsticked between 8 and 20 eet. We weighed in 8.66 or 10th and split a small check. Spanked another team rom our club and picked up a little more cash.
City: El Dorado HillsTips: Reaction ish are larger than the ish caught on sot plastics generally. Force the reaction bite as ar into the morning as you can.

Report: Have you guys checked out the markstails site? It is really neat. Mark is a 14 year old boy who ties tails or the bass lures and can match any lure or any body o water. I use his tails and have been having a lot o success with them. Especially the Lucky Crat rip baits on long sloping points with rock on them. Chartruese shad and Tennessee Shad have been producing well. I the weather gets warmer the rip bite will get even better. Rip, rip with a long pause seems to work best.
City: ReddingTips: I weather is real cold brown and brown jigs in channels and rip baits on long sloping points early in the morning, i weather is warm rip bait and spinner bait all day long. Good ishing. Tom Jones

Water Temp: 44-46
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: my partner, Bryce and I went down to oroville or the won bass team event this am. Cold as the dickens at 33 degrees and we put in at bidwell with 47 other teams, took o about 710am and neither o us know this lake so we stopped in the main body just north o the dam and started pounding the banks with jigs. I got bit right o the bat but missed the ish, very sot bite, Bryce went through the same thing so we took o or the bridge just outside o Lime Saddle(west branch?) where we get on some dinks on worms, Bryce and I are both throwing the MGM 157 and he gets the irst keeper in the boat at 930 am, I get a couple o dinks as the boat traic picks up, guys are running all over the place and I igure everyone else is having a hard time, we ool around the bridge or awhile and Bryce says we should go the the middle ork or south ork which is ine with me as I don't know where these palces are anyhow. Back down to the area across rom Bidwell and under another bridge and then a right turn into an area o sandy light colored banks with some humps going under here and there. A lot o wood loating in the lake in this area and some o it serious enough to break something. We ish the area rom 1130 to 130pm without a single bite. Bryce and I are assessing our situation which doesn't look good with only one ish in the boat. I said maybe we should try the shallow stu across orm us so we move over there in 9-25 eet. We had been ishing 25-40 t areas. Bryce gets another keeper o a sandy point and he notices a slight temp rise o almost 1 degree as we enter this shallow water. we move down the bank and I stick another dink and then a keeper in 9t o water in a creek channel. Bryce is now graphing a lot o ish and sticks another just legal keeper. We move back to the little creek channel and ish it until 240 pm and make our last casts. Bryce sticks a good ish and I get the net on a at 2.29 spot and then miss another dink. We crank up and head in or the weigh in. Start talking to a ew teams ahead o us and learn that limits o 5 ish are scarce. We weigh in 7.14 lbs and most o the guys in ront o me and a ew behing me are in the 6lb area so Bryce and I are eeling a bit better. Best 5 was at 9.54 when we let or the drive home with a little hope let or a good inish. The MGM 157 (jerry's worm) is the only thing we could get to go. once again, Bryce bailed me out. Back to shasta on 3-9-02 or the next round.
City: ReddingTips: I don't know where the heck we were at. we ound ish mostly below 25 t but as indicated, the ones up shallow is what bailed us out, the MGM 157 (named ater me, thank you Mr. Coyle) was a liesaver today.

Report: All I can say is it is cold. But what the heck, it beats the hell out o working. We started at about 9:30, headed up the north ork and stoped at one o our hot spots. Dad hooked a dink and I hooked a smally. We went urther on up the north ork and stopped at another one o our avorites. We had a somewhat consistent bite going using grubs and worms. Mainly S&P. As it got later dad has some great hits on orangecraw. We ended up with 16 total or the day. TIPS: Fish slow, everything is a simple pressure bite. I you catch a ish, stick in the area or a while because there is probably another.Changing your bait color oter boats another ish.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished the WB team. Foggy/overcastday. Probably caught 30 ish between the 2 o us.Best 7 went 11.16. 14.9 won. Jigs, spider grubs and 6 inch worms were the ticket. Never got a ish/bite on a reaction bait. Lake got hammered this weekend.Saturday tourneys and preishers probably totaled 150-175 boats. Lake has come up about 30t since BASS. Funny thing craw dad baits work but the ish are gorging on shad. No crawdad parts in the live well.
City: Castro ValleyTips: Fish are all over. Key is to ind a school o larger ish and wait them out.Bite can be very subtle.

Report: Greeting to all, What a weekend. It was just a mad house Sat. Three tournies. 45 min. wait to launch and to leave. It was a mad house. Kevin and I inally got on the water about 8:30ish. The og was so thick or another 2 hours, that we had to stay airly close to the ramp. Oh, and speaking o ramps, someone needed to put a sign up at the spillway saying it was closed. We ished between Saddle and the Spillway to start o and we caught 3. I caught a couple o dinks and Kevin caught a nice 2lber spot. We ished there until the og dissappated and then moved up the North Fork. When the sun came out, the bite was on. We tageted rocky points and lats. It seemed to work. We each bagged to more nice ish. That was until I roped a 4 1/2lber. She was a long thin spot. She is going to be nice this spring. We caught a lot, missed a ew and the 9 we caught were deinetly some good lookin bass. I'am stoked about this year and everyone else should be too. Good luck to all. We'll see ya out on the water.
City: RosevilleTips: We tried a lot o things and the things that were producing were jigs and worms. 7" pumpkin seed curly tails and 1/2 oz rootbeer gitzits. Jiggin really slow, just keeping contact with the bottom. It seemed with the worming the leader had to be a little long. Usually Im about 12 to 14 inches. Sat. it was 16 to 18 inches. Pulling SSSLLLOOOWWW. That seemed to be the ticket or us.

Report: I agree with you Lone Angler. It is lame. No more reports rom me or any lake I go to. It's too bad too. I thought this was or helping ellow ishermen. I guess not. The excuse is there's tournaments coming up. What a bunch o crap. I ish tournaments and still write up reports. I'm by no means an expert at all, but I do eel obligated to write something about my day at the lake whether its good or bad. You don't have to say the exact area or exact bait, but just a general idea o whats going on. Water clarity? Water temp. Slow bite, good bite. Best ive ish weight? The bottom line is there's people out there that take it too seriously, and get a little anal when it comes to reports. In the long run this will hurt ishing and the ishing business. I'm here to help people learn while I'm learning also. God orbid i we ind out the so called secret bait or bite. I don't believe in that. You still have to put the ish in the boat yoursel. We're ishing against the ish. But some people are ishing against each other. That's the cold hard act. That's why there's a lack o reports. Thank god COOCH and LARRY HEMPHILL are helping us out. I ind it very interesting that we don't see other top notch ishermen like COOCH and LARRY putting a report in the NCBF ishing reports. And we all know they read this site. We need a little more input rom you guys and you know who you are. I 'm tired o playing the little secrets game. I don't play that game. I it hurts me in tournaments, so be it. But I doubt it will. It's about conidence, doing your homework, and a little bit o luck. And don't say you don't want to do somebody else's homework. Some people simply cannot get to the lake to preish because o work or other reasons. I'm willing to help them. I want them to get as much out o it as I do. We need to keep it un or everybody or you're gonna lose them. I they have a good day o ishing because o my input, then that's gonna make me eel good. Sorry or rambling, but its how I eel about this great sport o bass ishing. We're lacking reports. So lets get it going. Just my 02cents. Patrick

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Much tougher today(saturday) than Wednesday. Wed saw much rain and lowing water. We were able to catch reaction ish and 12 or so on 3/4 oz jigs. Today, water was lowing less and clearer and those ish had gone o the bite (or Me). We caught over 30 ish rom daylight till 4 pm, but they would only eat a splitshot worm or us. Lots o 13-14" ish with 5 over 15 ". Fish very shallow, but we caught them as deep as 20 t. Tourney a week ago Saturday had 51 boats and no reports?..lame

Report: The biguns are coming out to play and what a perect day we had on Thursday. Fishing was awesome with all but a couple o them over the slot. It did slow down around noon but the jig and Senko worked their magic all day. Water is rising and has some color to it and most o the day the lake was as smooth as glass enabling us to work Senkos around submerged shrub and trees. We worked the main body and concentrated on deeper rock walls and any type o cover.
City: WheatlandTips: Rodstrainer jigs in brown/orange color with a Yamamoto twin tail trailer worked very slowly at 15-20 eet. Senkos in watermelon color worked extremely close to any submerged tree.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Club tournament the day ollowing the completion o the BASS Western Invitational. Lots o dock talk available. Didn't help. We had a little over 7lbs. Winner had 8.5. Size matters. It's about catching spots over the slot that weigh 1.2lbs. This was my irst all outing on this lake and I wasn't going to submit a report. However, I can't submit a report only when I have success- I have to write it up even when I stink it up. Caught 20 spots to 1.6lbs rom zero to 35t. My partner provided a pleasant suprise when he caught several keepers on cranks casting parallel to rock walls in the south and middle orks. I nailed a couple on white spinnerbaits until I switched to cranks. Finished the day where we started catching rats with darterheads and spiltshot on the main lake. It was a utile search or ish with more bulk. Perhaps we need to re-think the results o the slot. Our club had an exemption or this event, but is this the quality angling experience the slot was designed to develop or recreational ishermen? Scads o keepers, rats, and snakes?
City: El Dorado HillsTips: Can't say I have years o experience bass ishing on northern caliornia lakes, but I've never experienced so many small spotted bass. Pond smelt must not oer much nourishment. Ignore the rats and ocus on techiques or quality ish.
