Report: Fishing was just air. I was doing alright with a bite hereand there in the trees with reaction baits, while my partnerwould pull one every once in a while behind me with Junebug plastics. During the day I had a chance to ish with a riend Ray who has done very well in the AAA ranks. He has a nice new Triton and I was tagging along while he was doing some drop shotting. He pulled a lot o ish but or the 2 days he was there probably only managed 4 over the slot. It was still a great learning experience. As ar as the report goes. Try to get a bite out o the treesbut i unsucessul, look at your graph and ind schools o shadand give drop shotting a try.Good Luck

Fishing or better ish seemed a little tougher this week as the lake level continues to drop, the water stays warm and churned up rom boat and jet ski traic. All types o baits were tried with none being better over the other.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I had another good late aternoon-night trip with 2 clients on Fri. We launched at the dam and ished the north ork the whole trip - a little past Bloomers was a ar as we got. They started split-shotting Magic worms and I threw a brown/orange Rodstrainer jig just or un, pretending it was winter! What a surprise when the jig got heavy in about 25 eet o water and I set the hook on an 18 1/2 inch spot - nearly 3 lbs!! This was about 7 pm. Ten minutes later I catch a 16 1/2 inch spot, over 2 pounds. Wow, do jigs work in the summer too - I guess!!! I thought about putting my clients on jigs, but they started catching bass on their worms. Ater dark, we went to 7 inch Power worms and Big Dipper Magic worms, and caught lots or spots in the slot, with one client landing his own 16 1/4 incher. The ish really turned on about 11 pm, and really shut o about 1 pm. I don't know why. The moon had some thin clouds cover it about 11 which always helps night ishing. We caught 15 bass total, but most were over 14 inches. We had a lot o short strikes or some reason.
City: Yuba CityTips: The black 7 inch Power Worm is always a winner at Oroville during the night. We ound our bigger bass on walls, rather than points. Fish were 15 to 30 eet during daylight, and 5 to 15 eet at night. Use Smelly Jelly!

Report: Actually started out going to the Aterbay with Greg who is listed in the partners page o the orum and one heck o a good isherman. Greg stuck a nice 3 pounder on a watermelon/red lake Senko near tules and grass. That was the only one landed so ater about 3 hours we decided we had enough and shot over to Oroville and drove up to Limesaddle as we wanted to ish north and west. The rest o the day was overcast and rainy but a very enjoyable rain as it was warm and came straight down.........nothing like the sideways winter rains! Caught 20-30 slot ish and a couple long, lean ones that were close to 15". All in all a neat day with no boat traic at all and water lat as glass.
City: WheatlandTips: Caught all our Oroville ish on dartheads o deep banks and rocks. Some were right on the bank, others were 10' out and no particular color.

Report: Fished Lake Oroville or the irst time this past Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday and believe Oroville is a well kept secret. Very ew people out on the lake. Had good luck in Middle ork or Spotted along rock piles and walls in 2-20'o water. Fished Texas rigged 4-6" worms. Hit the wall and dragged the worm back to the boat slowly. Most hits on decent Spotted were at 12-15 t. Had several strikes the moment the bait hit water, but mostly smaller ish. Used dark (brown/chartreuse tail) in AM, moved to pink, clear, and white during midday, and used Junebug lizards and worms in the evening. All were slot ish with 3 exceptions: 5 1/2# Largemouth (big, good color, real healthy, and still in there or next time) (Middle Fork/Brown worm/2 t depth/rock pile with brush/early AM), 3# Spot (middle ork/brown worm/rock pile/15 t depth/mid morning), 3 1/2# Largemouth (Junebug lizard/back o the cove in creek bed o the main channel-between mile 3-4 on east side/1 oot depth in stained water/early evening). Tried topwater with only one ish. Threw spinner bait without success. Stayed on loating campsites and had a great time. Will be returning to Oroville.
City: RenoTips: Find the rock piles and ish those-always ish in there!!

Report: Fished south ork and some on the main body. Caught between 20-30 spots (all slot 12-14" ish but at and ull o shad!!!).Lots o un! All splitshotting 4" magic worms (#62/#33 best) mostly on the sandy banks between the really large rock banks, 15-20 t. No luck dropshotting (probably not very good at this tecnique yet) or with top water. These ish really bust on the ultra lights with 6lb test. Lots o ight in em.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Had a rare Sunday evening trip with three brothers rom dierent parts o the country. This wasn't my avorite time to start - 6 pm, but you go when the clients have to. We started throwing Magic worms in the north ork, and caught around ten beore dark, one about 2 1/4 lbs. I would liked to have done topwater, but don't allow it with so many in the boat. There was no evening surace eeding o bass due to the weekend traic. The night was beautiul, but cool. We didn't get as many bites as I would have expected, but they were all big, except or one 13 incher. And the ish were hot - really hitting hard! Caught them on zipper Magic worms, 7" Power worms, and jigs. One o the brothers really lost a big ish at the boat. We had several over the slot. We were targeting very steep banks, because the lake is really dropping now!
City: Yuba CityTips: Topwater and deep water tactics will be the keys now that the lake is dropping. Fish deep points - shallow ones won't hold quality ish when the lake is going down a oot a day! Walls are great.

Report: This was the irst time I have ished at oroville. This lake is awesome. I took my girlriend and her son,and they had a good time hookin these crazy spots. It's alot o un to see the expression on a kids ace when he catches a ish. We got a late start, around 9:30 but it was crazy once we did. I started in the middle ork, and tried what looked good. In the irst hal hour we caught ten ish. The bite slowed a little, so we bounced around looking or rocky shoreline. Everytime we went to a new spot we would catch ish. Just an abundance o ish at this lake. The majority o the ish we caught were on jigs. Watermelon senkos caught some and so did pink magic and keeper worms. The jigs were o the brown and purple variety. We caught 40 or so ish, and missed around hal that. The majority o the ish were in the slot, but the second ish o the day was 17". We caught 5 that were over the slot. Just a nice day on the lake.
City: El Dorado HillsTips: Get here early i you want to catch a ton o ish. I talked to a couple o guys who got there early, and they caught 75 ish. The bite slows down in the aternoon, but there are plenty o ish to be caught all day. Good luck.

Water Temp: 71
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I spent Tues and Wed on Oroville, and had some great ishing. I didn't know i the heat o the past ew days would aect the bite or not, but it didn't slow it down, that's or sure. Tues, I just wanted my clients to have a lot o un and get a lots o bites - and they did!! We started in the main body around 5:30 am and got a ew topwater ish on Chugbugs. I again had my clients ishing #62 and 84 Magic worms, Texas rigged, starting about 7 am. We ished mostly in the middle ork. They took great delight in counting every bass, which were all spots, so I know I am very accurate in saying we caught 56 total. Lots o them were under 12", and most in the slot. You have heard the expression "it took 50 to catch a good one". Well, we were stuck on 49, so I decided to put on a #66 (blue ghost), and bass number 50 was 16 1/4 inches!!, our only over-the-slot ish. We drop-shotted a ew, caught a couple on jigs too, but that bite is slowing down. #66 and 64 Magic worms were good colors too. Today's trip was dierent in that I was teaching a ellow how to ish the north ork, so we looked at the meter as much as we ished. It was quite dierent to start the day by landed our irst two that were over the slot - his on a #62 Magic worm and mine on topwater. We wound up with 21 total in a 7 hour trip. I was amazed that we only caught 2 dinks today, around 6 rom 12 to 13 inches, and all others 14 inches and over. Most o our spots were 14 to 14 3/4 inches. I just ound that very interesting. We saw ry all over the creek arms; I hope they ine enought cover to hide in. We saw small spots chasing them already! I, too, tried the midday topwater thing a bit, and had three or our good blowups on spooks and Chugbugs, bug missed them - they all missed the plug. All o our bass were caught, both days, rom about 8 to 35 eet. Many bass are suspended o walls, and they are starting to eed heavily on baitish.
City: Yuba CityTips: I have ound that the post-spawn bass will hit a Texas rigged worm as well, i not better, than a split-shot rig. Later in the season, splitshotting seems to work better. We were using 6 inch worms - some bit o to 5 inch. I think the thicker body worms may attract larger ish.

I threw lukes, lizards, CO Dads (the old original ones) Finally I broke down and igured i ya can't beat um join um and started dart heading Delta Red Craw color worms joined in on the un also.
City: SacramentoTips: Fish are deeiantly in post spawn and running small seemed I had to downsize my baits to get bit. Lots to be caught though. Our biggest ih was about 2lbs. and or 5 maybe 7 1/2 lbs. coaght a lot though.
