Report: Started ishing in the main body and my buddy caught three on a small darthead minnow. They were all airly small. I kept throwing a small black and brown jig with no luck. Ater about an hour we ound a deep cove near Foreman creek with a lot o trees in it. I started throwing a small senko and I got a lot o action letting it lutter down through the trees. We caught about 5 out o that one small cove. We let there and went to a similar cove near the main body bridge. We caught about 3 more out o that cove using the same tecnique. We quickly ran out o Senkos so we started using worms and crankbaits up the middleork. We caught about 6 up there. Overall we caught about 3 over the slot. None o them were over by much but a good day o ishing or us.
City: YubaTips: Senkos were working great around the trees. I got a lot o ish on the 4 inch but when I went to the 6 inch I didn't get touched. Have un now beore the rain starts!

Report: Fished a local team tourney on Oroville today. The ishing was awesome. My partner and I caught 45-50 ish during the day. Most on crawdad color cranks. Caught some on a brown and orange jig with a grub trail and 5 or 6 on a hula grub/ootball head. Jigs seemed to produce better overall size, but or biggest came on a crankbait. O the ive ish we weighed in 4 were crank ish and 1 on a jig. Heck I even managed to cull out a spot with a nice smallie. Days like this just don't come around oten enu. Wish I could have stayed another day just to "playish"!!
City: Sparks, Nv.Tips: Most o our ish were on steeper banks and walls, but don't overlook the shallow mudlats. I caught big ish o the tourney on a crankbait in one these areas!!

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Well I must say this has to be my avorite lake. Today was my second time ishing here, and it was an awesome day. We decided to start up North, because when I was out here in the Spring we spent our day in the middle and South orks. Anyway it worked out well. I tried to ish the areas that looked a little dierent, so we started on a slopping point. In about 15 min. we bladed 4 ish the irst being the biggest just over the slot but all 4 ish were at. We kept the trolling motor going and got a couple more on a jig and a worm. We decided to move up the ork and stopped at a wall with some huge boulders and caught a couple more on jigs. I missed a ew on the jigs you really had to let them take the bait, because they kept ripping my grub o the jig. One thing I noticed though that changed my day was that on two ocasions ater the miss on the jig either that ish or another ish nailed it reeling back in. Time or some crankin. Tied on a deep little n, and started some butt whoopin. We moved over to the lat areas by the old railroad bridge and caught ish ater ish with the largest a 4lb. spot. The other ish were either at the slot or just over. Hardly any dinks were caught today. We caught some more on jigs and one on senko in the trees. We went up the south to try an area we ished in the Spring, and cranked away with a bunch o quality ish. My unnest two days this year were spent here. This is an awesome ishery wish I lived closer. Good luck.
City: Eldorado HillsTips: I matched the crank bait color to the jig. Brown and Orange. Although we switched the jig to purple with a brown trailer later on and did better. No ish caught on worms today, which was a relie I have to ish that way at Folsom alot. We caught over 30 with hal being caught on crank bait including the 4lber.

Report: I took Benjamin Smith, winner o a trip I donated to the Rally at Clear Lake, 01. He is a student at Live Oak High school. We ished Saturday rom 7 am to 2 pm, on a beautiul, but unortunately very windy day. We had the typical east wind in the morning, then a south wind or about 2 hours, then a switch to northwest wind. I havn't seen that combo at Oroville or years. It really made teaching Benjamin the basics o bass ishing rather tough. While he wasn't able to get a jig bite, he did very well split-shotting a morning dawn magic worm!! He caught 4 and lost another 4. He biggest was a at 14 1/2 inch spot. I had hoped it would be over the slot, but it wasn't. I ished a brown/orange Rodstrainer jig most o the time, and landed 10, with three over the slot. My irst one was the biggest - 16 inches - caught in 10 eet o water. Most o our ish were 10 to 30 eet deep, caught in the main body and north ork walls. It was a unny type day - I would catch a bass or two on the jig, get Benjamin to ish the jig, and neither o us would get bit. He would go back to the worm, and I would start catching them again on jigs. This happened two or three times. Finally, I gave up and let him ish the worm. Weird!! He seemed to have a great time and was always very excited when he hooked one!! I really enjoyed his company. I don't like to make excuses, but I know he would have done much better i the wind hadn't caused so many problems. The north ork actually sounded like Clear Lake or awhile!
City: Yuba CityTips: Oroville is stable now, and there are active bass rom 10 to 40 eet. Jigs continue to work well or quality spots, and shakin' or split-shotting worms is a sure bet. We didn't try topwater or crankbaits, since I elt the water was still too warm. As soon as we get a ew nippy nights, the topwater bite should break wide open, especially in the late aternoons! We saw pond smelt and some bass on the meter rom 60 to 80 eet, all over the areas we ished. We did not try or them.

Report: Since driving over the dam has been temporarily suspended, launching rom Bidwell was no problem. Workers are still removing tons o dirt rom the lower parking lot so be sure to close all your truck windows beore launching. Another irst or Oroville is the sign posted stating there is no night boating allowed. Fished the main body and toward the south and had some pretty hectic action on white/chartruese blades and actually got 2 over 15" throwing o rocky points and letting it drop and very slowly retrieving. Others came on a white tube ished with a 1/4 darthead. Many, many slots and line stretchers and you could see bait ish being gobbled by the mouthul and every ish brought into the boat had to be played a bit to have them toss most back into the water and not on the boat carpeting. Broke o 3 on a brown/orange jig (got to change my line more oten) but had a real nice day and things are getting better all the time. Must have caught 30-40 between us with a total o 6 over 15". Tried ripping and topwater while my partner was hauling them in the boat so went back to plastic. Have some un.........head or Oroville.
City: WheatlandTips: Slow rolling blades and tubes were the ticket. Launching at the lower Bidwell ramp was no problem as there was no traic in the AM but could get hectic with more boat traic so have your boat all ready and backing all the way down the short ramp is advisable....as my buddy ound out!

Report: Launched out o the Spillway at 4:00 pm and went over to the dam. Picked up a slot ish on a 1/8 oz darthead with a watermellon Yamamoto split tail grub in about 15 eet o water. Moved to the main body and picked up a couple more slot ish with the same bait working around points. Moved out to about 30 eet and nailed a 17" spot beore braking o my 1/8 oz darthead. Retied with a 1/4 oz dart head and never got bit. Didn't get bit on a dropshot or splitshot either, so I went back to the 1/8 oz and yeppie, got some more. :)All in all, I was on the lake or 4 hours and had 6 bass brought to the boat. {5 slots and 1 over} Missed a couple others. It was my irst time on Oroville in about two years and I wanna go back soon. However, I sure am looking oreward to not having to share the ramps with the summertime loonies. once the cooler wether sets in. :)
City: Granite BayTips: I used a very slow presentation allowing the bait to crawl over rocks and stop oten.

Report: Got there around 6, and launched right ater a tournament. Only ran ew hundred yards and started ishing north bank o dam. Got into them hot right away, and tapered o airly quick. Only ished until 11:00, and probably had around 30 ish between the three o us, with two over the slot. Was ishing with some o my new colors I'm developing, all womrs are very translucent, some chartruese, some purple, and a ew greens. Most ish were in about 30 eet o water. Missed probably as many ish as I caught, as I kept getting short hit and coming up with about an inch let on my worm. First time on the lake, and am looking orward to going again.

Water Temp: 80
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: The last Thursday nite tournament o the season turned out to be a real barn burner as at least 4 anglers had a shot at winning the $380.00 up or grabs. In the end it was Colby Knowles, a 17yr. old Paradise High School student and his dad Allan who won the money. Father and son shared a very special moment when Colby hooked a 21" spotted bass on a senko. Although weight is not a actor in these tournaments, the corrected weight o the ish was 4lbs.9oz. The next ish checked was also a large spot at 20". This ish would have easly gone 4lbs. as well. My partner and I would like to thank everyone who was able to come out this year and look orward to doing it again probably starting in May. One inal note, with the water being so low, lots o rocks are starting to show and not all are marked. Probably best to stay in the center o the channels on plane and go into the bank on the trolling motor.
City: Paradise, Ca.Tips: Obviously there's a senko ish or 2 out there. Crankbaits, Jigs and Worms are working as well. No other reports were given.

Report: Went out at 8pm on Thursday night. Couoldn't make it in time or the tourney so we decided to ish the night with the moon the way it was. I did very well on dark grubs. A couple o keepers and around thirty smaller ones. The ish weren't as aggressive as I would have thought only hitting the bait with one tap. I just started setting up on them immediately and it paid o. A lot o un, but would have liked to have caught some bigger ones. Not much top water action to speak o.....my dad got 2 on a pop r and a buzzbait. Water was still very dirty in some spots and it was hard to dierentiate in the dark.
City: ParadiseTips: Dark colored 5 inch grubs in 10-20 eet o water o any decent looking rock structure.

Report: Thursday nites tournament was won by Mike Sorenson and Mike Despain. The Mike's beat out 32 other anglers to win $340.00 or 1 19" bass. The ish was caught inside the 5 mile bouys at Lime Saddle Marina on a crankbait. As the pair were coming in around 8:30 they graphed some ish on a point and decided to make a ew casts beore time was up. Minutes later the ish was on and neither angler with a net. They teamed up to hand line the ish in or the win. Mike Despain becomes the irst angler to win more than once this year.
City: Paradise, Ca.Tips: Crankbaits seem to be the ticket now with some action on jigs and buzzbaits. Not much inormation was shared because o upcoming tournaments.
