I caught 1- 4lb brown and 3 4-6 lb rainbows. Lots o ish, best trout ishing so ar all year. I released all ish, but what a great time! I went out early 10/7/2002 and knocked them dead again. I caught 10 trout deep back in the squaw arm the biggest was a 8 lb brown trout. I was trolling using Rapaulla and crank bait lures. I used a deep six going out 150 t. Flashers seem to work good too using a dave davis ollowed by craw ish lures.
City: ReddingTips: Crawish lures, 12 lb test line, using a dave davis or ord ender using a deep six diver. Leader we were using 10 lb test line, we were loosing ish on lower test line. Seem to hit better early in the A.M. but pretty productive all day until dark.

We were trolling with green crawish lures about 30t down using dipsy divers and deep six divers with about 3t leader. We trolled at 1.5mph seemed to work best. We stayed in the squaw arm and caught several browns and raindbows. Seems like thats where the trout are hanging out now.
City: Bella VistaTips: troll using a diver between 20-30 eet using green crankbait lure (crawish). Ford enders work extremely well using about 1 t leader with green crawish.

Report: Gee, I wonder why jerry didn't post a report here? I'll do his job or a change. Launced on the McCloud, ished some jerry's tourney water,(can't tell you where) pretty slow. Got one small one ripping early. Jerry ished the jig almost all o the A.M.,with ive ish. I caught eleven, while shaking a darterheaded worm, and dropshotting. Shad colored baits worked best or me. All ish were small. We both got one about a pound and 1/4. so we tied or big ish.The bigger ish are playing hide n seek. Back soon or a rematch! The lake was down, but still beautiull. The weather was gorgious also.Soon I'll be a local! Har....

Report: lake conditions at present, don't go up to antlers or the public ramp as it is out o the water, sugarloa is in, hirz bay south is in but muddy, jones valley down to 1 lane, centmudi is ok but tough getting out with a small truck due to the slope, went up to Shastina today with the wie, I have never ished there and we decided to go have a look at the place, there is no WATER up there, the lake looks to be at least 50 t down and I don't think the deepest part is much more that 70t. Not a single ramp in the water, very depressing to see such a beautiul spot so dry, Stopped at a little BBQ joint in Weed on the main drag (highway 97) and had some good down home BBQ or a change, I still miss Flint's and Everett& Jones in Oakland. Shasta is at the 80 t mark and is not as ar down as last year this time. Pray or a wet winter.

Report: I ished a club tournament with the San Joaquin Bass rustlers on Sat/Sun 9-28/9-29, and pre-ished on the riday beore. It took a whole day to igure these ish out, as it was overall a tough bite, but we unlocked the secret to catching bass all day. Me and my partner caught limits on both day's. First we ound the most active bass under balls o shad, and we dropshoted mini gitzits clear/silver lake between 40-60 t. Tag end o dropshot was 2 t. hook up two gitzits on the same setup or better results. The winner o the tournament was dropshotting a pro worm 4 1/2 in. cinnamon/blue. 2nd. pl. was split shotting a plain green weenie 4 in. between 15-30 t. Fish steep banks with chunk rock. I you graph ish and they don't bite go ind some that are active and eeding and stay with them.

Report: This was my irst time on Shasta in 6 or so years. It started out renzy ishing with top water ish busting all around the boat. Then it would stop or a little while then a renzy again. This went on or the irst two or so hours.Poppers did OK as well as well as cranks. The shad were about 1/2 the size o the popper.I should have brought my ly rod!The jig did not work or me,I threw it a lot probably too much.I then resulted to a 4 1/2'' worm with a chartruse tail.It won me a dollar or big ish o the day o 1.7lbs.Shasta is a very beautiul lake with black bears and such, but I can't wait to get back on my home water where 1.7 would not make the smallest o ive.We ended up with 30 spots hal or so o which were keepers.Oh I also cought ish on a {tiny}brush hog.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: lake is down to 79.6 t, water still murky especially in upper arms, shad are now more spread out in main body areas with no movement back into the coves yet, I have been catching ish(mostly dinks) o o rock with the MGM 109 4 inch being the best producer but unable to ind any sizable ish with the average running around a pound and a quarter, hot weather appears to be over and we have clouds moving in, especially in the morning, today was heavy overcast with no wind until 0830 when it came up out o the south to 10mph, jones valley ramp has about had it and down to one lane, it is easier to launch o the end o the hump in the dirt, as reported by Gene, my team partner,Bryce ruled the day on Friday with what appeared to be a 1.6. It has , however, been rumored that Susan caught the ish and gave it to him so he wouldn't eel so bad as Gene has been puting the whooping on him lately. Cooler weather should perk things up a bit. most my ish today came between 0830 and 0930 (8) with one at 7am and the last at 1030 am.
City: ReddingTips: hands down, the MGM 109 4 and 6 inch is the top producer.

Report: In at Jones Valley at 6:00 AM. Meet up with Gene and Ginger rom Anderson or a day o ishing and a little riendly competition. The rules were simple, the biggest ish between the our o us wins. Well, to make a long story short, Gene had a 2.5 spot. The best I could do was a 1.8. Both the blondes couldn't seem to get it together. Better luck next time, and believe me there will be a next time, only with a dierent winner. We started out at Jones Valley point where I lost one right o. We then headed up to the upper Pit and had pretty good luck wormin the trees in about 25 to 30 eet. My 1.8 came on a jig straight over the boat. I ended up with 8 total and Susan had 4, at least I out did her this time. It was a beautiul day with not too much boat traic. We had a great time with Gene and Ginger. Report: In the water at Jones Valley at 6:am started at lower end o the squaw arm and started catching ish on texas rigged worms, no two pounders.headed up to the end o the squaw and run into a war zone. there were house boats in very cove and heavy metal , rap,and a mix o other music roaring up the canyon.the blond and i seen a good rock point right in the center o the war zone, and decided to give it a try. what a surprise we started catching ish and even broke my line on a good one. we didnt stay to long between jet skis ,tubers, water skiers and no country western music to listen to we decided to hit the road out o there we moved back down the squaw arm in the timber and stated hooking ish again. we must have caught 50 ish rom the start to the end and maybe had 11lbs in a seven ish stringer. the blond beat me by one ish, we used 4 inch and six inch worms all day and the color didnt make much dierence.blues, purple, pink most came rom the bank to about 20t o water.bigger ish were tighter to the bank or on structure.the mud lines were very productive and there was lots o them with the traic on the lake.pulled o the lake and ound a suprise at the ramp. one boat trailer blocking ramp with a lat tire on the trailer with the boat on it. another with a dead battery couldnt get it loaded. another exciting sunday on PEACE FULL SHASTA LAKE, COME ON WINTER.
City: AndersonTips: ish rocky secondary points , timber with the worms and jigs and you should have a sore arm at the end o the day.
