Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Thanks for the follow up post Jbass. I just wish there were a few more posts on this lake. I understand the problem because I've been on this site for years and seen the things people say regarding the catch and release of the smallmouth in this lake. But for those that just want to catch a few take a pic and let them go I really wish we could get more help. With that said I plan on enjoying the lake and it's beauty no matter how the fishin' is this next weekend because I only get to enjoy this lake once every few years. But it's always better to come home with some great pics of some beautiful small mouth and Large mouth.

Tips: But if anyone has any tid bits you could give me I won't turn them down...LOL. I left my email if anyone feels better about givin' some info out that way. Thanks to all that post on this wonderful lake.

Report: I ran all the way to the north end sense I did not pre fish. I know the north better then the south. When I got there I was surprised that I was the only boat in the area. I started throwing a spinnerbait and caught my first fish. The fish was a largemouth only 13 inches long. I stayed with the spinner for a while and never got another bite,so I started throwing a small swimbait and caught one 14 inch fish. I decided to swing for the fence, and started throwing a Huddleston swimbait until my arm felt like it was going to fall off. No bite on that, so I needed to take a brake from the reaction baits and picked up my senko. Wham got a bite first cast,so I stayed with it the rest of the day. I was fishing a tailing and spotted some males on top in about a foot of water tried to catch them but they were not very big and very spooky.I had a feeling that the females had to be there some place, so I started targeting the deeper water around the edge of the tailing and that is how I caught my bigger fish. While I was fihing there was a Man and his son that asked me if I had a scale to weight his big small mouth with it was over six pounds. What a beauty? If anyone knows who he is please have him contact me.Thanks Joe Ashworth

Tips: Don't get stuck on one bait.Sometimes the little baits catch big fish.By the way I go second place in the trounament.

Report: Trinity Center ramp is finally free of snow. To access the ramp, drive down the concrete ramp and take a right just below the courtesy dock. Procede along a narrow gravel path to the old low water shale ramp. Turn around at the top of the hill and back 200 yds to the water. Use extreme caution when parking as only a few spots beside the ramp are solid. DON'T assume that you will be the only one there and park on the ramp. I have launched several times in the last couple of months with no problems, but it is a 4 wheel drive adventure.
Cedar Stock is still open but you might want to practice your backing skills before you arrive as the ramp is very narrow and crooked. It is the only one with a dock.
Minersville is open but is very rough at the bottom as the pavement here has really started to break up. Also no dock, and the high winds all summer and fall have left about 6" of silt near shore all around the lake. Watch your step. It's a muddy mess.
As for the bass fishing, the last time out I ended up trolling for trout.

Report: Why doesn't anyone report on this lake any more? I dont have much to report but I can say I was up there a few weeks ago and the launch at minersville was just fine. Lake is very low 99.9% tailing piles are out of the water. Good time to go find thoses isolated rock piles that you always see guys fishing but can never actualy find when they leave :) Got there early fished in the pouring rain and 10-20mph winds. Lots of muddy water comming in. Had a 5, 4, 3, and 2.something in the boat in the first 1/2 hr. all largemouth on swimbaits. they were in about 6-10 feet of water and vevy pale like they had just moved up out of deeper water. That first 1/2 hr had me pretty excited but that was about it for me. My partner caught a bunch more than me drop shottin' and lipless cranks but not much size.
