Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Made the long trip from Yuba City for 6 hrs of fishing - but I think it was worth it. Another first cast story - at 6:30 am, right out of the 5 mph zone, I casted the shad colored Chug Bug to a bush (the lake it totally full!). Second twitch a 2 1/4 lm nailed it. At least the skunk was out of the boat! On another main body point, a smallie took the bug THREE feet from the boat - and stayed on!! The fight was on after I recovered from shock. Luckly, I quickly loosened the drag - she was 3 lbs 2 oz. A few minutes later I threw a Lunker Punker over a rock ridge and it disappeared half way to the boat. She jumped - and so did I! She looked like a whale but was only a 6.0 lb largemouth. The trip to Pardee didn't seem to long now!! Both were spawned out of course, but still gorgeous. A few minutes later, bring in the Punker, I saw a big smallie following it - right under the surface. She saw me and said: "I think not!!!" And that was the action for my short trip. No more bites. I did not venture into the river arm just because - no reason. Three for 11 1/2 lbs total was cool, considering the insane weather.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: Not much to say. I would assume the morning and evening bites are best now, though one should be able to get a good mid-day topwater bite when the weather settles. I saw some on the meter, but not many. I looked over the shoreline some and didn't see a single bass.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: WE NEED TO START A NEW PROGRAM ON HOW MANY BLACK BASS YOU CAN KEEP. 2 PER PERSON. I PRACTICE CATCH AND RELEASE FOR SOME MEAT HUNTER TO CATCH WHAT I JUST PUT BACK.5 PER PERSON IS TO MUCH FOR ONE MAN TO EAT IN ONE SETTING.I THINK FOR NON TOUNRY ANGLERS THEY NEED A SLOT LIMIT OF 12INCH TO 15INCH YOU CAN KEEP.

Tips: ALL TOURNY RULES STAY THE SAME 5 PER PERSON BECAUSE OF ARE GREAT CATCH AND RELEASE PROGRAMS. IT IS SAD THAT ALL THE WEIGHTS ARE DOWN ON THE DELTA AND CLEAR LAKE BECAUSE OF THESE MEAT HUNTERS. IF WE DON'T DO SOMTHING THESE PLACES ARE GOING TO TURN INTO SHASTA AND ORVILLE.

      Water Temp: 76

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished from 1:30pm to 7pm. Lots of boats for a wed. Found out there was a tournament with about 10 boats. I had to work for them but got 8, 7 on jigs in 15-20ft and 1 on a spook. Best 5 went 11 lbs and had 1 break me off that was probably around 7. The fish are there. Fry are around the banks and the post spawners are recovering out in deeper water.
      City: Madera

Tips: Find submerged structure in 20ft and position your boat several different ways to present the bait differently. Work across points both sides of the drop.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: tI took out a couple of great guys Wed. on vacation and wanting to have some fun catching some bass. The top water bite was falling off a bit , but still had some action in which they really enjoyed the action. The bite is still on with tubes, flukes, worms and senko's. In a half day trip they had about 25 with 3 over. The low pressure that had come in had spread out the bass a little.

      Water Temp: warm

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Took Mac out for a frog fishing experience. Went to Middle River & south Delta to avoid the wind and got hail and rain instead. We landed 10 total with several other blow ups/swirls. Had one suicidal fish that smacked the frog and launched it so I started reeling in to cast on the spot and he hit and missed it again so I dead sticked it and he hit it a third time and I set the hook on him and landed him. Never seen a bass want something so bad.
      City: Delta

Tips: Focus on tulles at higher tides and the inside edge of the outer submersed weedline at lower tides.

      Water Temp: 69

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: We got on the water at 5:45A. It was windy so we decided to hide out in Sycamore Slough. Since it was a minus tide, I decided I was going to focus on using a chartruese/white buzz bait over the top of weed beds. By 10:00A, I had boated 4 keeper size black bass (largest 2.5 lbs), 1 keeper size striper, 6 undersize black bass, and 1 undersize striper. Also, had a bunch of blowups/misses. No size, but it was definitely a lot of fun.

Got off the water at 3:30P, but my buddy and I boated 14 keeper size bass (largest 2.5 lbs), 2 keeper size stripers, over 30 undersize bass, and 3 undersize stripers. We also had a lot of misses or lost fish. A sharp contrast to several weeks ago when we would only get 2 or 3 bites for the entire outing.
      City: Dixon

Tips: Several fish were still pre-spawn. Caught fish mainly on Rat L Traps and buzz bait. Fish were definitely aggressive -- I caught a 5 inch on a buzz bait and my buddy caught a 3 inch bass on a 1/2 oz Rat L Trap. No fish on chatterbait or spinnerbait. Last week, we caught fish mainly on chatterbait. Use your entire arsenal of lures to see what is the "lure of the day".

Report: That's unfortunate that you were skunked at the C...However I wouldn't give up on the lake, the fish are there for sure!!! Many of the fish here are Coyote quality bass. If we wait until the water cools, we would have to wait til next fall! The water has been rising significantly over the past few weeks, pushing the fish out to deeper water. Until the water levels off, try fishing in 10-20 feet of water. I had a decent day today after figuring out the depth the fish were holding.

Report: This lake is the best kept secret of Nor Cal. Free launch and good sized spotted bass. Unlike past trips the fish seemed to have gotten bigger. My best five went 10 Lbs. That's not counting the 4lber that I brought to the boat foul hooked on a rip bait. The lake was beautiful multiple falls running into the lake.
      City: W.Sac

Tips: My bigger fish came on reaction lures: spinner bait and rip bait.

Report: Don't waste your time. Got to Calero around 10am because I went to Anderson first and didn't know you have to have reservations on the weekend if you want ot get in before noon. That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. So Ran over to Calero and no one was there. Fished ofor 3 hours and nothing. Not even a bite and i didn't see anyone catch anything other than weeds. Saw 4 dead fish thats it. The water at all these lake are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to hot now. 73 degrees. Gez thats a heated swimming pool. Wait for a while or go up to Berryessa where that water is cooler. This was my first tiome at Calero and probably my last. Small lake and kinda boring lake. Thats fishing though.

Report: Great day on the lake with my 4 year old. Started out on the main lake east shore looking for spawning shad, this event happens around this time of year. With the chop on the water it was very hard to spot them. Found a area out of the wind enough to spot them and then it was on. All fish came on a Vixen to first cast into the resulted in a double hook up with a pair of 2.5 pounders. This is the first time I cought 2 at the same time on one lure. I was able to stay on them for awhile ended up with 10 fish out the group not a dink in the bunch all ran from 2-3.5lbs. Ran around for awhile and neaver found another group of shad cought one hear and there on the same lure all solid fish on the topwater not one fish under 2lbs. I think my son let me reel in 3 of them. Finished out in the south end worming for spots my son likes the spoted bass for some reason. Ended up with 20+ fish for the day best five at 15lbs.
      City: Vacaville

Tips: If the shad are spawning you will need to fish very shallow. 6"-3' I had the boat sitting in no more than 8' of water and putting the bait right on the bank. Some of then pushed a wake as they chased the bait.
