Lake of the Pines

Water Temp: 78
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: fished 4 hours in the early morning. It was about the slowest day Ive had this year.
I got 6 in the boat. 4 on buzzbaits, (the biggest about 5), 1 on a chatterbait, and 1 on a fluke.
I broke one off at the boat that would have went 6, got him on a brushhog in deep water.
Seems like the fish are holding anywhere you can find shallow water near deeper water, but the problem with that is the ache boarders are out like rats in an aquaduct.
My trolling motor prop was outta the water more than it was in because of the big waves.
City: auburnTips: go way early or night fish.

Amador Lake

Water Temp: 79-81
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: The Basin Bassmasters from Loomis fished a tournament with 12 boats. The winning weight was 22.20 for the best five and second place 21.70. Most of the bass were cought in the back of the coves using frogs, popers and spooks. The bass are pushing the bait into the backs and having a big dinner. The moring bite is better than the late day.
The launch fees will change on July 7 to $22.00 for launch, boat and two people.
City: RocklinTips: fish way in the backs of the coves

Report: Just a quick word to Danny, the previous poster. Amador is known for slow periods and fantastic periods of bass fishing. Don't give up - about a month or two ago I fished it for about 5 hours and got one bite. That's Amador!! My fishing buddy Rick Tietz (owner of Blade Runner Tackle and Duh spoons) hit the lake yesterday afternoon and fished 'til about 1 am. It was an interesting trip - we decided that the fishing wasn't great, but pretty steady. When we started about 3 pm, the bite was pretty good with Senkos and Sammy's (topwater). I couldn't get a frog bite at all and Rick missed all three of his - one a good bass! I lost one on the Sammy over 4 lbs but landed one almost 4 along with several others. Mid-day topwater is usually good in June and yesterday was no exception. It was interesting that the bite really slowed for us before dark - last time I was there it was great! I did get another nice 3 1/2 pounder on the Sammy by the dam and missed one more. Rick got a nice 3 pounder on a Gator Tail worm. After dark the bite was fair for bass up to 3 1/4 lbs. I did hook the "monster" of the night" around midnight in Donney Bay - got her next to the boat - we guessed how big it was - and lost it as Rick was ready to net her! Really not a monster but at least 5 or 6 lbs. She nailed a brush hog! Speaking of monsters, I was able to take photos of a young man and his grandpa with their two bass caught before dark - an 8 lb 13 oz beauty and another over 5 lbs. Photo should be on wb.com as soon as I get it to them. So, we ended up with about 20 bass in the boat and about as many "out" of the boat (ones we lost!). Maybe 17 lbs for our best 5.
City: Yuba cityTips: I got the feeling that the fishing was better during the daytime because of the smoky skies, especially with the unusually clear water. That was probably true for several days. Weeds, of course, are everywhere except on walls. The lake has begun to drop this week and that will move the the bass offshore. They probably will suspend a lot for the rest of the summer. The traditional Texas rigged weightless Senko is a good was to fish the heavy weeds. Wacky style will be tough.

California Delta

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Put in around 6:30pm and braved the unanticipated 25mph gusts and an incoming tide. very challenging conditions -- 3/4 oz. rattle traps were all we could throw into the punishing wind and there was zero bite. refusing to surrender, we pushed on and tossed all common sense and self-preservation instincts aside and finally found some protected water in a slough just outside of big break. enter roboworm. one 5 lb. 1 oz large mouth bass later, we began our trek back to our put-in spot at antioch bridge and the real "adventure" began. massive swells, white caps, 35+ gusts and quickly fading light threw all in our 14' boat into quiet, existential reflection. in the end, our captain held his own and, after 5+ hail marys and some very dicey moments, we finally made it back to the safety of the marina. one for the books.
Tips: respect the water and be prepared for a swift change in conditions (especially in the evening.)

Report: launched at Redbud late-morning. Ran across to back-side of the island and started throwing an R2Sea frog into the folliage. 3rd cast hooked and ultimately lost the biggest bass I've seen this year. Drat!

Report: I finally got my boat back after being in the shop for over a month getting gel coat repair. First destination, Clear Lake, being that it rarely ever lets me down. Today was no exception. I launched at the state part and headed north to long tule pt. As the sun was coming up, I caught a 7.5 pounder on a 7

Water Temp: 78
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: The Junior Bass Club fished the lake in the morning. I stayed out in the main body left of the dam. My junior and I droped shot on the humps in 10-25 ft. Using a perl/blue shad 4" worm we got 12-15 spots, smallmouth and largemouth ranging from 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 lbs. Get out early and be off by noon.
City: RocklinTips: shake the worm and stay on the bottom

Water Temp: 76
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: On the water at 6:30- fished in the south fork and caught about 8. Went to the main body and caught another 8 or so. Biggest five would have gone about 17lbs with our biggest fish going about 4 1/2lbs. We were off the water at 10:30am.
City: Elk GroveTips: Windblown areas with 6" worms

Oroville Lake
-
Water Temp: 75
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Got to go fishing today with my friend Colby and got started at 5am from Lime Saddle. This ramp will probably be out of action within the next 2 weeks so if you plan on launching from there it would be wise to call ahead. We had a top water bite on the smaller spook and prop baits on one of the walls heading out of the marina. Very smoky as you would expect but it kept the sun at bay till around 11. We caught fish on every stop using senkos, tubes and jigs in various colors, the best being green pumpkin. Big fish was just 2.5 with most in the slot and the best 5 right at 9 pounds. If you tolerate the smoke and can get out early the fishing is pretty easy.
City: ParadiseTips: Green pumpkin tubes and senkos dart headed in stained water and shad colored tubes dart headed in clearer water. Fish in the lower North Fork and in the main body on points. We were off the water by noon with about 60 fish.
-
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: June 28 (4pm-8pm)North Fork: Partner and I managed about 15 fish, 4 over. Couldn't see the dam from the bridge! Caught mostly on senkos and worms dragged out from the bank into 25'of water.
June 29 (8am-2pm) North Fork. Action slowed from the evening before. Only able to find fish on long tapered points and flats near by. Boated 8-10 fish including 4 large mouth. The quality of fish was noteworthy. 4 over the slot! Best fish caught on topwater (spooks). Senkos and worms worked on same type of structure.
City: OrovilleTips: Steep banks and coves not productive for us. Find the tapered banks with chunk rock and work slowly. Sounds like early morning and later in the evening are best bet for numbers. Both Bidwell and the dam have two lanes open. Not bad yet. Don't get lost in the smoke!!!!

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Houseboating with a put-put fishing boat tied to the back and got only 13 hours of fishing time during the week of 6/20 to 6/26. Took 27 spots and 2 smallies. Every trip out in the small boat no matter the time of day resulted in fish and everyone that went caught something. Most trips an hour - give or take. Great time on/in the water even with the smoke from wildfires all around and socked in like fog.
City: Medford, ORTips: Drifted over main and secondary points almost 100% in every arm of the lake. Lake was way down at about -80 feet. Used combination of bleeding shad Rattle Traps, shad pattern medium-deep Rapalas, a gold/purple popper, darter heads w/ rainbow or green/blue Robo Worms, and BG Spider Jigs in smoke, blue flake smoke, and white. Photo available. Biggest fish went to a 2.5 spot, several 2.0's and the rest dinks. Size didn't matter this week, just fish on the line and happy kids!

Sonoma Lake

Water Temp: 74
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Got to the lake at 3:30 pm with my son and fished to 11:30 pm. Hit Dry Creek area first and caught 1 fish on a drop shot. Moved into Cherry Creek past Skunk Camp and caught a couple more, one on a senko, 1 on drop shot and my son caught another on a small swimbait. After 8:00 the topwater bite started to kick in and caught 3 more on a spook. My son caught another 3 pounder on the swimbait before dark. Didn't catch any fish after dark and called it a night at 11:30. Best 5 went about 13 lbs.
City: Rohnert ParkTips: Drop shot during the day around the trees and try senkos. Try different retrieves with topwater. Several bites came after a long pause.
-
Water Temp: 72
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Hit the water 2/ friend around 6:30. Overcast morning, cool, very few boats. Went straight up to Yorty Creek and chucked spooks for the first hour or so, and had some blowups, but only 2 fish. Then by mid-morning we threw just about everything else at 'em (Senkos, roboworms, spinnerbaits, hogs) but nothing doing; not even a bite on those. Friend was persistent with a frog in some of the thicker shoreline cover and had a few fish whack at it, but none stayed on. Moved to point that splits Yorty and Cherry creek arms and got a couple hits on crankbaits but lost em. Finished in Cherry around 2pm with a couple on Strike King Red Eye shad (Chrome/Bluegill pattern).
City: San RafaelTips: Try spooks and other topwaters first thing, pretty much anywhere, then if Senkos/soft plastics not producing, try cranking (lipless or whatever else) along the points and breezy shorelines where you figure baitfish might be getting blown into.

Stevens Creek Lake

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Slow day fishin, 5 bass 3 hours, biggest goin 4.18 on a black jig. Couple 2's on carolina rigged senkos, and rest dinks on dropshot.
Tips: Not much structure here on or around the shoreline. Finding bass as off main lake points, and deeper submerged trees/stumps. Get a decent fishfinder, its helped me tons.

Water Temp: ?
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished with my wife in our float tubes from 5pm-1am, caught 19, nothing bigger than 3lbs.Steady action.Fished top water (knucklehead) bigger fish and of course had massive blowup when I was not paying attention (wathing the deer swim by to the other side of the lake). Weedless drop shot rig was the best bet . MMIII worms and Black 6" power worms.
City: TracyTips: My best tip is check your gear in this case the velcro straps that secure your fishing rods to the tube.I haven't been float tubing in over a year, so as I was watching my topwater sit I noticed something below me in the water, it was my other rod that had come loose from the side of the tube and sinking quickly to the bottom. So if anyone snags a BPS Bionic Blade with a Team Diawa TD2hi with 30lb power pro line a 3/8oz brass weight and a 5/0 hook attached I would love to have it back. I have had that set up for about 10 yrs and they don't make the reels anymore. I would be very greatful to get it back. If I only could scuba dive........
