Report: Hats off to you Plastic Man. I too launched out of B&W that day. The highlight of the trip was runing into Kent Brown and Gary Dobyns who were also launching from B&W. Those guys are class acts. Kent gave my partner and I two Triton hats.

We Fished from Francs Tract to Sycamore Slough. Boy it was windy!! I thought I was going to capsize my 17.5 boat!! Ended up with six dincs between my partner and me. Threw everything at them Senkos, Swim Baits, Sweetbeavers, speed traps, D shots, Split shots, Darter heads etc. I'll get them next time!!

Tips: Next time I'll follow Brown and Dobyns to their secret spots Lol.

Report: First time to the lake in two years. Camped at Kyen which is great since you can launch your boat right there and park it on the beach for the duration of your stay. Fished Saturday and Sunday Morning and Saturday Afternoon. Saturday afternoon was a bust with only a 12 volt trolling motor, it was next to impossible to hold a position to fish. Saturday morning was okay. Found a creek channel with a nice population of small males that liked senko type baits. Caught three keepers and missed a couple more. All three fish were in the 1 lb range. Had some shaker striper bashing bait all around , but couldn't find anything they were interested in. Sunday morning was better. pulled up on a secondary point and on the second cast with a swim bait nailed a nice 24 inch striper. That was it for the striper, but the largemoth would not leave me alone. Caught four on the swim bait, three on a drop in the submerged bushes off this point, another 2 on the senko and two more on a fluke.
Best five went 9 pounds. Not huge but not a bad three hours of fishing. Would have stayed longer, but we had to break camp and head home.
      City: Sonoma

Tips: Keep trying different lures and colors until something works. They loved the water melon black flake senko and the ghost color Maverick swimbait. Unfortunately I only had one left and it got trashed by the Striper. So I threw it a few more times and caught two more before it was history Put the hitch pattern on instead and caught a couple more, but no where near as consistent as it looked like the ghost pattern was going to produce.

Report: What a great day on the lake . Took a client out on FRiday and had one of them days that you never forget. We launched at Angles arm and didn't start the big motor. On the
First cast my client had a 3lber on a topwater and I had a dink on a worm. The action was non stop all day long.We caught uncountable amounts of fish on mostly topwater ,what a blast. My client (Lynn) was so happy he gave me a $200 tip. That even covered the gas and everthing, lol. We did get a few fish sight fishing ,which he had never done. Book a trip and lets go get them. wwwmarkmcgowanguideservice.com

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Just got back from Houseboat trip . On the lake 7-11 and fished the Sac and McCloud Arms. The bite was good and improved later in the day as the water temp would rise 3-4 degrees. Most fish were caught off points but some were back in shallow coves starting to nest. Our best were 2-2.5 lbs but most were 10- 12 inches. We threw gitizs, robos and senkos. I threw swimbaits early and late with no takers. The lake level is already at mid summer level and appeared to drop several inches daily. Good Luck

Report: Early Saturday morning I took the Taylor clan out. The head of the clan had just
celebrated his 84th birthday and his two sons and son-in-law were taking him out
fishing. I decided to head towards the vineyards with a few stops along the way.
Col. Robert (Dad) had brought a collapsible rod that he has owned forever which
he wanted to show me. I asked him if he would like to catch fish with that rod and
he said sure if it was possible. I checked the line on the rod and I tied some mono-
filament to the dacron. We trolled towards the Ranch house and sure enough he
caught the first bass!!!! He was so excited after landing the fish he had a smile from
ear to ear. He continued to land a few more and said to his sons 'I told you I would
catch the first fish and that's how you do it!' When we stopped at the Ranch house
I showed Robert how to use a top water bait. After throwing the 'chugger' many
times, he was rewarded when a nice size bass exploded on the bait and he landed it.
This went on for awhile where he caught a few and lost a few. The water was
crystal clear no problem seeing down 12 feet. When we got to the vineyards the water
was stained and we had a problem seeing down 1 to 2 feet. Matt was using brass and
glass and a senko and Robert was using a weightless senko and we were aiming at the
tree stumps in the water and got a few good fish in about 2 feet of water. After awhile
we starting heading back and I told them we would stop at my favorite cove before
calling it a day. All the Taylors had landed fish but poor Bob didn't have any luck and
they were giving him a bad time. Col. Robert asked me to help him catch a fish. I said
I would do my best. I had him throw out a weightless senko (watermelon with black
flake) and on the way down he hooked a spotted bass which he landed. Everyone was
quiet now. We went to another spot and I showed him where to throw the bait to the
shore. He was using brass and glass this time and remarked that he would catch a
big fish this time. He slowly reeled the bait through the grass and he thought he was
stuck but I told him to set the hook and sure enough he brought in the largest bass of
the day a 5.5 pound large mouth (see photo). Needless to say no one teased him for
the rest of the trip. On Sunday I stayed at the dock all day cleaning up my boat and
fishing for carp. Using 2 pound test line, I lost about 5 and landed about 5. Great
fight on very light tackle. Egan (8 years old) and his friends brought in a 4 pound
carp on their own. 'til next week.............................................good fishing!!!!!!

Report: Couldnt get a top water bite going. Lake was PACKED! Worse then Folsom! First time fishing this lake in a year and a half. All in all caught 23 spots. ALL dinks! Does this lake have any big fish in it? I was throwin a six inch senko. Fish were sooo small could only get about 50% hooked up. Colors were green pumkin and smoke. Whats the point in going to Oroville. This lake has just as many dinks. If I go again it will be during a week day.

      Tips: Watch your line!

      Water Temp: 64 degrees

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Put in at Redbud at approximately 7 AM. Fished only in the southwest arm region. It was a little windy early but died down as things heated up. Because of recent success with this pattern, I target shade, rocks, and vegetation. Boated eight fish before 1 PM. A seven, two sixes, a five, a three, and some twos. Lost three giants near the boat. I will never drop shot with weedless hooks that are almost barbless again. Wacky rigged senkos worked all day. Green pumpkin or watermelon seem good. Most fish came in fairly shallow water, 3-10 feet. Rocks nearby help as does vegetation. Distant casting can be key. They scare real easy. A fast rod tip is a must. With an extremely slow retrieve, anything that feels unusual is probably a fish chewing on your worm. Set the hook big time. On the big ones, you'd better get serious with the hook set or you'll be whining.
      City: Esparto

Tips: I keep seeing guys fishing out in open water with the sun beating down. Unless you plan to fish deep because you've located fish, forget that. When that sun starts beating on the water, you have a great hint by just finding those hidden shady hiding spots. With the 90 to 100 degree temps coming, I'll be the guy throwing spooks in until right after sunrise; then it'll be frog time! Top water and shade patterns should score this weekend. I'll still keep the drop shot rig handy!

      Water Temp: 69-70

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Lake was pretty busy with people playing on the water so watch out for that. Caught one right off on lipless and missed a couple on senko's. Both in se corner of lake. Moved around stayed mostly on the east with no luck, went back to se corner and caught 4 more on senkos no fish was over 2lbs.
      City: Grass Valley

Tips: If you find the fish stick with them till they all out stop, seems as if they are schooling up a bit.
