Report: It was our first time at Pardee and we had a good time. The wind wasn't too bad until 11:00 then it got bad. We didn't get bit fishing normally but then we started seeing beds and we only caught one, 4 pounder male, I know some people don't think it is right to fish for the bedding fish but I feel it is fine as long as you put them back. Went up the river a ways and saw a cove to the right,to get out of the wind, found probly 25 beds in there. We decided to go around 2:00 but on the way in we saw some calm water to the left of the 5 m.p.h. zone when we pulled into the area it looked like the redlight district there were beds everywhere roughly 100. Saw some huge fish but nothing.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: On a houseboat April 2-6. April 2 we fished the afternoon, caught 30+ nothing bigger than 2 lbs but not too many rats. The best day was Friday, 85 fish, but lots of rats. The two largest 3+ came out of running water 5 ft deep. The other days averaged 40 fish. Any worm worked on a darter, jigs, carolina rigs. The majority of fish still in 25 to 30 ft of water.

Tips: Take a kid, rig up an 082 w/red flk and a chart tail. Texas rig and have em drag it behind the boat as slow as possible in 20 ft of water. They will catch fish.

Report: This past weekend was a little tougher fishing then my last report. I got to the lake
late Friday afternoon and headed out for awhile to see how the bass were biting. I
landed a few bass using brass and glass and a senko. On Saturday I took out Jeff
and his son Dustin for the day. My plan was to start at the Ranch house and head
towards the vineyards. We stopped at a few points and tried brass and glass with
very little luck. The first fish of the day was caught on a R2S crawdad and Procure
crawdad scent. We continued on to the vineyards in a better frame of mind. At the
vineyards where we could see the tree stumps in the water, Dustin threw out a senko
watermelon with black fleck and was hit almost immediately by a bass. We kept getting
hits and reeled in some nice size bass (see photos). As we were heading back I
decided to try my favorite cove and it turned out to be a good decision. Dustin got
very lucky and landed five crappies one after the other. His father and I have to
take lessons from him on how to catch crappies!!!!!! It was a very enjoyable day.
Sunday the weather played games with me all day. One minute it was sunny and
warm and the next the wind picked up and it was cloudy and cold. But that didn't
stop me from landing a few nice bass and a couple of trout. Bass are starting to go
to the shallow water and the top water bite hasn't turned on yet but I hope it will
      soon. 'til next week.................................................good fishing!!!!!!!!

Report: Tough bite for bass on Saturday and Sunday. Son, John, and I fished from rental boats for five hours each day and produced only two bass. On Saturday, I scraped out a nice 3 lb 10 oz bass taken on a black Swimming Senko rigged on a 3/8 oz. Jobe head. The fish came from 15 feet deep off the end of a sunken tree. On Sunday, John landed a nice 2 1/2 lb bass using a black/blue jig right up against the tules in a patch where there is a few feet of depth on the outside of the tules.

Many casts with swimbaits, lizards, salamanders, jigs, drop-shotted wacky-rigged 5-inch Senko's, crankbaits and buzzbaits yielded no bites. We fished the west shoreline from the dam back to just south of Coot's Landing. It's frustrating not getting bites from the smaller bass which must be there, while trying for the lunkers that are definitely in the lake.
      City: Monterey

Tips: We did see some large (10+) bass cruising in the shallows, some with smaller bass accompanying them, but no beds were visible yet. If there is any spawning occurring on that side of the lake, it's in the dark zone not visible from the surface. Fan-casting into that zone is what produced my fish.

Report: Well, got a mixed bag report. The good news is I caught some nice quality fish. Caught them a number of ways. Beds, d-shot, rip, jig. Hit my big fish, a 6'14 on a bed. There were bed fish everywhere, but mostly 2 pound males. The bad news is that Lake Amador is the lowest I have ever seen it right now and that makes for a very boring, non structure type lake. All the brush and drop offs are 50 feet out of the water. Plus, the moss is horrible already. Most of the beds are surrounded by it making bed fishing a pain. Also, forget fishing any jigs or plastics in the top 15 feet of the water column. As soon as it even sniffs the bottom it is loaded up with that stringy green stuff. I was excited to throw the Huddy and unless you are throwing it 20 feet or deeper be ready to come back with your whole Huddy engulfed in the stuff. I wish Amador would let youi know these conditions when you call up there. Drop shotting worked a little, but most of the fish are shallow and that was still tough with the thickness of the moss. I'm not joking when I tell you that it was really frustrating.

Tips: Like I stated, not a bad weight day. My best 5 went 19 pounds and it was cool seeing the big fish eat the jig, but just can't justify the money for the water quality. If you go, hope for a reaction bite, because plastics or jigs in the top 15 feet is basically a no go. Out off main points is you best bet. I would suggest going to Pardee.
